13" because subjective reasons. Also, isn't the Apple Card the thinnest product they made? Strange how that one slips everyone's mind, when it's convenient. Cheers!
I upgraded from a 13” 2018 iPad Pro and upgraded to the 13” M4 iPad Pro. I use my iPad as my main machine on the go - and I take lots of notes and use it in tablet mode with the pencil while on the move, standing and meeting with staff, meeting with clients, etc., etc. Given my use case, I can assure you that the reduction in weight (which is a direct result of that thinness) is a significant improvement on what has gone before. I can now comfortably hold the 13” in hand while stood taking notes. That was a tricky (and tiring) proposition with the previous versions. I also travel a fair bit. This is the machine I take with me. Again, the weight reduction in hand luggage is noticeable and welcome. It’s not as transformative as in a note taking situation. But it’s a help. Too many reviewers, I think, are concentrating on thinness. The benefit is in weight. And if you are using this as a tablet (rather than keyboard mode) the benefits of that ‘lightness’ are very quickly evident.
I keep iPads for 6-7 years so I’m ordering 2 13” M4 pros for my wife and myself and look forward to another 6-7 years of use. Coming from the 2018 models I think it’s a good choice
I’m watching this on my first gen iPad Pro and even though it’s no longer supported it’s still going strong, I have ordered the 2TB 13 “ M4, thought after 8 years I would treat myself and hopefully get another 8 years out of that one.
I had the 12.9 M1 and updated to the 13 inch M4. I don't have the Magic keyboard because I use it mainly as a tablet, in hand, with the Pencil. If you keep it on the keyboard or on a stand on a table it makes little difference... but handling it in hand....yes, it makes a difference.
My wife’s 2nd Gen 12.9” iPad Pro was having some issues. So, we went and looked at the new iPads and she fell in love with the new M4 iPad Pro 13”. Glad we picked up the keyboard and pencil while we were there because she’s thrilled. Amazing machine. Thanks Mark!
I have always liked the 11 inch. It just seems to be the best size when taking notes or cuddling up to watch some content. When you are outside is when you really notice the difference on the OLED screen. I never liked using my previous iPad Pro outside because it was hard to read anything if you had any glare. I have been using it outside a lot this past week and couldn’t believe how well I could see the content on my screen.
I upgraded from a 2018 11-inch iPad Pro to the new 13-inch iPad Pro M4, and I’m absolutely thrilled with it. The Tandem OLED display is incredible, the Magic Keyboard now includes an escape key and function keys, making it a huge improvement, and the performance boost ensures it will be future-proof. Stage Manager makes sense now and it feels good on a 13-inch display. I know it’s all subjective, but in my humble opinion Apple have done good!
M4 11” iPad Pro is my first iPad Pro. Upgraded from iPad Air 4 and the upgrade is mind blowing in every sense but the thickness 😜 air 4 was already very thin actually. But still it’s impressive!!! Got the mk as well. It’s very premium feeling and functions just awesome. 120hz is so nice in this screen 😊
Go for the 11”, Mark! It will be an excellent companion to your 14” MBP. I also initially ordered the 13”, but… I sent it back and got the 11” instead. It’s just soooo much more portable, especially once you want to use it for casual browsing etc. I do miss the larger canvas for drawing though, but in the end, I’m not doing enough digital artwork to really need that larger screen.
@@jamy6431 well, the 13” feels like a much bigger canvas to work on. Actually for productivity, it’s definitely the better device. You feel like you can get work done. Until you run into the limits of ipadOS. The 11” is just so much more comfortable to use when you’re not at a desk or table. The beauty of it it that it doesn’t feel like you’re holding a laptop screen. It’s really the perfect tablet size! And honestly… the screen is still big enough to do everything the 13” can. Even drawing/lettering.
Just ordered an 11” Pro M4 to replace an M1. Used the Apple trade in service which offered approx £100 more than John Lewis. Avoids all the time wasters and “best price” enquiries when selling elsewhere.Hope I’m impressed!
Hello Mark Ellis, thank you so much for your video, I really liked it! As far as which size iPad to get, here are my thoughts take them or leave them. If I was in the market for an iPad Pro, I would get the 13” for 4 reasons: 1. I would go with a Pro iPad because of Face ID for sure no matter which size iPad I got. It is just too useful of a feature to go without. 2. The main reason I’d go with the 13” iPad Pro over the 11” has to do with the size of the Magic Keyboard. I use the Magic Keyboard with its built-in Trackpad all of the time. The 13” Magic Keyboard feels like a regular Keyboard whereas the 11” Magic Keyboard feels scrunched. 3. Even though the 13” iPad Pro is .3 lbs. (135g) heavier, or the weight of 23.80 Quarters which equates to just 3.8 more Quarters than a half a roll, the 13” iPad Pro feels lighter. Not only that it is .2mm thinner. If size and weight are equally important to you then the 13” is the way to go. 4. I’d go with the 13” because of the screen size. I often watch videos on my iPad and watching them on a 11” screen isn’t nearly as enjoyable. Because all iPads have a 4:3 Aspect Ratio (Full Screen), 16:9 (Widescreen) shows are scrunched down so having the larger screen makes watching shows much nicer. Not only that, having the larger screen real estate enables me to be able to get more work done on my iPad like working on Documents, making and editing Spreadsheets, and is more comfortable when I have multiple windows open. I hope this is helpful to you and anyone else who watches this video. 🙂
Just got the 11 inch M4 Pro w/cellular. Coming from the 12.9 inch M2. I’m glad Apple gave both sizes the same specs. Makes it easier for me to choose the smaller model and not miss out on good specs. I’ve had the A12Z 11 inch, M1 11 inch, and M2 12.9 inch.
The 2 sizes make this decision SO hard! I use my iPad almost exclusively for illustration and vector drawing with Procreate and Affinity Designer, so the big screen on the 13 is awesome for that... but the 11" is so good for EVERYTHING else, especially now that iOS has game emulators. I ended up going with the 13 since it's a tax write-off for my side hustle (and my 2018 pro is showing it's age), but there may be an 11 inch air in my distant future since it's just so easy to carry around. Some people dog on the iPad ecosystem but I really love it.
I came from the 11" iPad Pro (pre- M series) and then upgraded to M2 iPad Pro 12.9" 512GB. I do a lot of digital sculpting and illustration so I thought the larger screen would be great. So I thought I needed more RAM so I just got the 13" iPad Pro M4 1TB. After using side by side, the differences were so small I had to really look to find them. I returned the 13" the other day. I will however go for the 11" because I never had that much of issue with screen size like so many say. Not to mention because it's smaller, it goes everywhere with me and hence I do more on it. I also came to the realization that no matter how much I want my iPad to replace my Macbook Pro, it won't (for my needs), so the smaller iPad can also be in my bag with my MBP and it's not that much heavier. Just my 2 cents.
upgraded from my 8 year old iPad 3 to iPad pro M4 11 inch model. love the small form factor since a bigger one just means you need a Macbook instead and not an iPad in my opinion.
@@smasher981 thanks for the correction, i was also wondering if it was 2016 or 2012. wow! one heck of an upgrade i had LOL. anyway loving the new ipad pro m4 with the pencil pro. i guess i’ll never touch a real paper and pen anymore 😀
Gonna go for the 13 inch. I’ve had the iPad mini for 2-3 years and I realized that I need a bigger screen for taking notes. I also really love oled screens and the new Apple pen. The hard choice for me is to go for the space black or silver.
Bought the 11". 13" imho would be...another laptop and already got a MBP 14". The 11" fits in a small shoulder bag, is perfect to use on a commuter train, etc. With 11" can still do the emails & Teams and writing stuff when I don't want to carry the MBP. In my life iPadOS actually is pretty sufficient BUT Microsoft Office/M365 is crap compared to the Mac version. Wish that would change - would make huge difference for me...oh, and: bought the cellular version and boy it rocks!
I've got the 11-inch M2 iPad Pro, and my wife has the 13-inch. She's a tattoo artist and draws on it every day, so it's great for her. I'm a graphic designer and use it for sketching, but nowhere near as much art as she does. The smaller iPad has been perfect for me, she can have the big one.
I stoped using a 12.9 years ago because it kept getting hot while I taught math at school, I was scared to get this but Apple has done something where the heat is only in the back, I mean I’m even charging while writing and still no heat!! I’m happy with the 13M4 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
I’m still with my iPad Pro from 2018… it’s fast but I see the struggle with some apps… and the lcd screen gotta go for me👍so I’m suggesting the upgrade🙏
I would keep 13 if I were you. You will have a bit more screen real estate than the 11 and then it will be more handy for things like streaming as well and drawing. I know you said you don’t do an awful lot with the pencil but still. And sticking with the 11 will not make a massive difference in portability (I speak from experience). I much prefer the 13.
I have an 11" and love it man. The 13 are too big for me and since I have a MacBook Air M3, why bother with another 13" screen. It's super portable and powerful. Great video.
I have the 2018 12.9 iPad Pro, which I am using now. I also have the 2021 iPad Pro 11 with an M1 chip. I also have an iPad mini 6. I use the mini to navigate while I drive because i can see it better than my iPhone 14max. The m4 13 iPad Pro is tempting but i plan to spend in other areas of my life.
I have the 12.9” M1 and I’ve been thinking on and off about upgrading to the 13” M4. I mostly use the iPad for gaming and some video watching. I don’t have a MacBook at this time so the iPad will be my only device. Theirs nothing wrong with my M1 and it’s 3 years old. Is anyone having trouble with the battery life or with heat problems? My M4 will be cellular so I’m paying the phone company every month for about 3 years.
I have all three 😀, I have the both the 11 Inch M4 and the IPAD Air M2 (2024). I have the old 12.9 iPAD (that I refuse to get rid off - wayyyy too much money into it). I use the 12.9 for gaming + productivity and whenever I have the need for a larger display. The 11 inch Models are more for a blend of productivity and travel. I have the Air because I travel out of the country a lot and I don't want to carry around a $2,000 iPAD bundle 😀.
Go for the 11inch!! The aspect ratio of the 13 gives so much wasted space esp with videos and allows the 11 to be used actually as a tablet but gives the freedom to slap it on the new MK!
I love mine - love the OLED display - was not even aware of that detail until now - and coming from the 2019 iPad pro it is very light and just a joy to use. No pencil for me, my handwriting is atrocious.
And just like that I went to the Apple Store and after seeing the 13” and man is it so much lighter than the previous generation so I made the decision and still had return time left and took the 11” back and exchanged for the 13”. No going back now! Love the larger keyboard so much more room in typing.
I finally bought the iPad Pro M4 11’ because I did not like how big and heavy the 13” was when holding the iPad as a tablet which is how I use the I pad 90% of the time. As you suggested I did wait until IOS 18 was released but I also waited for the iPad Mini update. Once I learned that the iPad Mini update was a disappointment I bought the iPad Pro. I am glad I did purchase it, the OLED display alone was enough reason for me to spend the higher cost instead getting the iPad Air or any of the other models I considered. Thanks for your video, it was helpful in my purchase decision.
I succumbed to the 13" M4 iPad Pro [blushes]. It's lovely (of course) and I really like that it's noticeably lighter but did I need to get it? Absolutely not. I don't use an Apple Pencil or the Magic Keyboard. I mostly use an iPad to watch TH-cam and Prime Video content as well as general browsing, news apps and a couple of games. It replaces a 5th gen iPad Pro 12.9" with the M1 chip which was perfectly fine, if a little thirsty on battery power, but that's now being used by my other half who previously had the 4th gen model that had the IPS screen and Intel chip. I'm such a sucker for new tech. 🙄
I work on the iPad Pro 11” for 3 years, and I think I would love a bigger screen. The iPad Pro M4 13”, because of it’s lighter and thinner, could replace my 11” iPad Pro. What do you think of that ? Can you use it standing or the 11” is better for that ?
Help me Mark……. I’m torn, do I get 11” or 13”? I use Final Cut for my channel and use the odd document but nothing too heavy, I still have the M2 pro 11” with Magic Keyboard
I have also been using my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 128gb for the past 8yrs …now I’m patiently waiting for my iPad Pro 13 M4 2TB pretty sure I’ll be selling my 2019 MacBook Pro 16 shortly
I went both 🫣. The reason is different jobs. I had previously had the iPad Pro 2020 13-inch. It was heavy, and when I tried to do Final Cut Pro on it, it wouldn't work. It needed the more powerful silicon chips. This time, I bought the 13-inch iPad Pro M4 1TB Celluar with M/K for two reasons: as a side screen to my MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 and also as a stand-alone powerful photo (lightroom) and video (Final Cut) touchscreen that is portable. I've bought the 11-inch iPad Pro with M/K for an iPad, couch, pub, and bed surfing. The old 13-inch was just too heavy to do this. And in this process, I'm finishing with my desk set up, as I don't really need it any more. These small iPad Pros and Mac MacBook M3 can zip through large raw files, which not that long ago only your desk machines could do. So my three 27-inch screen setup with Mac Studio days are limited.
I went with the 13 inch version instead of the 11 inch solely because on the onscreen keyboard on the 13 inch is closer to a 75% keyboard and the 11 inch resembles a 60% keyboard. I did try the Magic Keyboard for my 13 inch, but I did not like it and already returned it. It did provide a great typing experience, but that’s all it did. The iPad runs off iPadOS which was designed to be navigated through by touching the screen and using the trackpad felt less intuitive. It felt slower to navigate between and through apps using the touchpad versus swiping and clicking on the screen with my fingers. But I suppose that is the gripe most people have with the iPads in generally, is the OS.
Great review, I picked the 13” M4 coming from a 11” 12Z chip, I want to try the bigger one but I love how portable and light the 11” is. I might return mine and go back to the smaller form factor specifically cause now they’re both the same .
So I believe you switched to the s24 ultra as your phone. Are you happy using both Apple and Samsung, and what watch do you use. ? I have the s24 ultra, but in love with these iPad pros, and I have never used anything Apple, and want to see how the other side is and works. I would love an apple watch, but the don't connect to android phones which is a shame, so I stick with my galaxy watch.
My daughter just graduated high school. The M1 12.9 inch served her well! Now she'd heading into college, and because of her chosen major, she's going to need one for the next 6 years, so we're going this weekend for her to choose the 11" or 13." I'm actually curious to see which one she will prefer, as I chose the 12.9" as a surprise gift.
Another nice video!!! Have you tested the Logitech Combo Touch for the new iPad Pro 13”? Do you still think that I should get the Magic Keyboard and pay the extra money?
I did the upgrade from M1 iPad Pro to M4 iPad Pro, in a lot of situations you can’t really notice much of a difference with the screen however it has removed the blooming issue which over the years did start to bother me. Watching dark videos in a dark room could destroy the image with how erratic the blooming was, glad that’s a thing of the past now. The only thing with the OLED, and this is incredibly minor, is you do get that blue shift on whites when viewing off axis. This isn’t unique to this iPad though, I’m yet to see an OLED that 100% solves this
I have the first generations ipad pro which will be passed on to my mother. It's 11 inch version and always liked it but never used a keyboard. Now I shall be going for 13 inch version as I get full size keyboard and bigger trackpad and instead of carrying laptop and iPad both I can just carry ipad with keyboard and sabe some weight in my bag if laptop
Hey Mark do you find that you can use the 13” IPad in “tablet mode” more oftentimes with the lighter size? I had a 12.9 and returned it just to big to use in tablet mode for an extended period of time. When docked it was perfect but I also like to use tablet mode for note taking….
So i have a question for all of you… i would like to buy a new ipad M4 but i saw a couple of you tubers and profesional designer talked about one problem in the OLED Panel… They said that the panel has a kind of grainy in the grey colors with the 30% of the bright level … so the question is… do any body experimente this issue?… I need help because I’m exited to change my ipad…
I bought the M4 13” IPad Pro with 512 and WiFi-cellular. I have seen no impact in the thinner size from my previous 12.9” iPad Pro. The Magic keyboard doesn’t seem to be balanced as well as the previous model but works well. The overall weight of the IPad Pro plus keyboard does not seem appreciably different to me. At $2048(keyboard and iPad Pro) it probably wasn’t worth the upgrade from my previous model. I do love the new display and the landscape camera.
Only live once. :) I'll be upgrading from my M1 no matter what. If I truly waited until I "NEEDED" the upgrade, I might be dead by then. Looking forward to WWDC and see what Apple does with iPadOS. That could help justify the purchase even more so.
The one reason I upgraded, and I’m guessing I’m not alone, was the battery life of the M1 and M2 iPad Pro. Not only can I get through a work day on the 13” M4, but I can then use it all night and still have 30% battery remaining in the morning. That was NEVER possible previously.
Greetings Mark! I went with the M4 11 with the pencil and keyboard. I packed around the 12.9 for a couple years and I think I'm sold on the 11. Don't feel hampered by the screen size and like the compact size for all day use. I'm feeling sorry for my 14" MBP thought, it's become a desktop computer. Maybe it's time for a MacStudio with the M4 Max!
Love the Shirt. Sugar Hill Gang is still one of the best groups. Great Review Mark. From the perspective of a user who uses an M1 iPad Pro 10" and am M2 13" as a part of my daily workflow, I can hold off before I purchase. iPads last a very long time with the right use case. I still have my iPadAir 2 as a part of my work that I also use daily. Perhaps in 6 more years I will need to upgrade my iPads unless we have something compelling to justify the change in WWDC.
Thanks for the excellent review. As I understand it, the M4 iPad Pro would have been impossible without the M4 chip: No previous chip had the power to drive this display. And, if they had the power, those chips would have required more bulk for battery and cooling to deliver this level of performance. So, Apple has delivered a device that is very much on the cutting edge of what is possible today and this would have been impossible without the M4 chip. Does the M4 have other strengths that the M4 iPad Pro does not fully take advantage of? Yes, absolutely! As always, we will see Apple release new devices over the next few months that combine the various strengths of the M4 variants (M4 Pro, M4 Max, M4 Ultra, A17 Pro) into different products, each tailor-made for specific circumstances and preferences. This one was all about the screen!
Yes, that is correct. They could only release the iPad Pro 2024 with a new chip, as it would not have been cost-effective to re-engineer the M3 to handle the needs of a Tandem OLED. The new display needs its co-processor to handle the two panels to prevent burn-in and manage brightness and longevity. By having a separate display engine, they do not put extra strain on the CPU/GPU and therefore, are more efficient.
@@andyH_England Thanks for your reply. I heard that TSMC was actually urging Apple to move from the M3 to the M4 as soon as possible. Apparently, it was more costly to manufacture than TSCM had anticipated. With COVID, the chip -shortage, and a bumpy start for the 3-nanometer production process, both the M2 and the M3 chips were probably not what Apple had originally hoped for. The coming M4 variants and the future M5 and beyond promise to deliver big steps forward. Greetings!
I love your videos so much! I could listen to you talk all day :) I grabbed the M4 iPad Pro 13” and have used it for about 2 weeks. I completely agree that at the end of the day, the thinness/weight don’t actually change the way I use it. The 13” is still primarily for use as a laptop (IMO) that’s able to be used as a tablet. I’m coming from a 12.9” 2018 iPad Pro so I assumed the weight reduction would make a difference in use but that’s not been the case. So today I shipped it back to Apple and will be getting an 11 inch. I want to be able to use it as a tablet first, laptop second. Not sure if the 11 inch will enable that but I’ll find out. Please please please publish a video with your thoughts on the 11 vs 13 after you’ve had time to use the 11!
I dont understand, u said they have the same display but when i tested the 11 inch, the darks/blacks that u would see in procreate background or gmail are washed greyish. Maybe mine is faulty but is this the case with urs? i notice a significant difference between the displays because of this, especially the darks.
I must try out a Magic Keyboard in an Apple Store. I've heard such good things about it and I do love haptic feedback. Will it pull me away from my mechanical keyboards and does it feel similar to a Macbook keyboard? Is the extra travel sufficient?
Can you please recommend accessories and a paper like screen protector that fits this tablet? I purchased one to draw and would love accessories that are convenient
Does anyone know how to fix the battery. The iPad runs out of battery really quick and it doesn’t let me charge pass 80 % anymore has the same issue???
I would certainly wait until we see what Ipad OS 18 will be. Would be a major let down to spend this kind of money on a Ipad with the M4 chip and then come to find out you can do the same stuff as with the Ipad 10.
I have traded my 13" iPad Pro Gen 4 and paid only $400 upgrade to M2 13". Also, I bought 11" iPad Pro M4 for travelling. Sadly, no update on iPad Mini.
I'm owning the 11" m1 ipad pro and looking for the 13" m4 ipad pro, but 100% waiting for the apple event to see if they remove the barriers in ipad os, so far i'm not happy using an ipad productively.
Well, I have upgraded to the M4 13 inch IPP I have been an iPad Pro user since 2015. The only time I switch to the 11 inch was in 2018 when the 12.9 was a little harder to get from T-Mobile but then with the following release of the 12 Z iPad Pro 12.9 I upgraded and I’ll never go back my 2021 iPad Pro logic board was going out, the last four months I owned it so I was literally just waiting for Apple to announce the new 2024 Pro. I got the new magic keyboard and the Apple Pencil Pro. I don’t know if I’ll end up keeping the pencil but I absolutely love the new screen lightness than this, iPad Pro and I love the magic keyboard and the new aluminum body and the feature row
I like how the new magic keyboard rocks when you touch the ipad screen, unlike the old keyboard that did not move. Guess I am not to supposed to touch the screen on my touch screen device in laptop mode.
If you touch the display, it is fine, but if you tap away like a woodpecker, it will rock a bit. Different angles can help, but I suggest a gentle touch.
I just bought the iPad 10 and very happy. It’s the A-14 chip which makes this tablet very fast. I also have the 2018 Pro which has ProMotion, but this new iPad 10 seems to scroll smoother, and it only 60Hz. I only paid $329 from Amazon. I have the iPad 9, and this one has so much more upgrades. I could never consider spending $1000 for a iPad. Sorry Apple 😂
I have the 13” iPad Pro and love it except for the fact that it’s over powered and I still have to go to my desktop because either apple refuses to make macOS compatible with iPad or Adobe refuses to write character animator and make other programs like illustrator and photoshop useful on the iPad
I will definitely get one, I am just really unsure if I should go for the 1tb option for the 16gb of RAM. This is going to replace my MacBook Pro and my current iPad. So for storage alone I would go for 512gb but the 1tb is not that much more expensive then considering you also get the RAM upgrade. I won’t be waiting for iPadOS 18 though, but I am a student so I will wait for the Back to School offer which starts usually in July in my country and instead of giving you a gift card like in the US Apple in Germany usually gives you the the compatible Apple Pencil for the iPads or a pair of AirPods Pro when you buy any MacBook.
Apart from video editing, well that’s the main damn thing that I wanna know! I’m looking for something that can handle editing videos and da Vinci resolve as well as CapCut without any lag or drops in the frame.
What I have come to decide on whether to do 11 or 13 inch is if it will be main computer or secondary. I own a pc and if iPad os becomes more computer like then I can ditch my pc and go with 13 inch. If it's the same iPad os then I will keep my pc and go with 11 inch as a travel secondary device.
All makes sense---have a 2021 M1 12.9 and a 2018 Pro (with a Pencil 2, Logitech keyboard and Apple trackpad and the older Magic keyboard which is what I use 99% of the time)---and will wait (as I've intended to)---but like your approach to reviewing and am now a subscriber.
Oh how times have changed, Hi Mark, David here, I remember when Steve Jobs (Remember him) first demo'd the first iPad back in 2010, the things that people won't of the iPad today weren't even on the radar back in 2010, in other words it was not meant for professional work (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, you get the picture) it was meant really to be a consumption device (watching Movies, Email, Web Browsing, again you get the picture), it was suppose to sit between the iPhone and the Mac and offer a screen that was bigger than an iPhone but smaller and more portable than a Mac, Yes you could start a project on the iPad, but you finished it on a Mac, somehow I think people and Apple itself have forgotten that. Steve's philosophy when he came back to apple was to keep it simple, and that was the more product lines you had, the more confused people became, and in the end didn't buy a thing, so that was why he drew up a chart with four squares - he drew four boxes representing a computer and a laptop, he put the work consumer above the squares representing a computer and laptop for the other he put the work professional, when asked what happened to the other lines, he bluntly said (As was Steve's way) he was getting rid of them to try and stop all the confusion. Now I know that Steve has been gone for a number of years, and Apple has changed, but I just wonder what Steve would have made of all this, would he have gone along with this or would he have been forced to draw up another chart outlining his ideas, sadly we will never know.
I absolutely love the 11 over the larger sized tablets … if i need a bigger screen, i use my MacBook Pro. This is exactly what Steve Jobs wanted. A middle between the MacBook and an iPhone. To me, The 13, is too big to be that middle solution.
this may be the OCD kicking in, but i think what Apple needs to do next….since they changed the orientation of the FaceTime camera….change the orientation of the Apple logo on the back of the iPad. no one holds the iPad in portrait orientation. 😅 as for the 11” it’s perfect…just enough screen. i love it so far, i was debating on going to the 13” but decided to stick with the 11” form factor.
You said the iPad Pro being thin was nothing. While the thinness might be nothing, the thinness causes a large weight reduction, and the weight reduction is very noticeable when using the iPad Pro in your lap or being held to be used.
Should I keep the 13-inch iPad Pro or switch to the 11-inch version?
Keep 13 for sure.
11
I love my 11, perfect size for me. You need to ask this question first to decide: does your iPad sits on your desk more often than moving around?
13" because subjective reasons. Also, isn't the Apple Card the thinnest product they made? Strange how that one slips everyone's mind, when it's convenient. Cheers!
Both
I upgraded from a 13” 2018 iPad Pro and upgraded to the 13” M4 iPad Pro.
As a med student I concur!
Couldn’t agree more. I travel a lot for business and the iPad is my note taking machine. OneNote is decent and pairs with my windows laptop
I bought the 2024 one. Didn’t power on. Sent it back t0 apple they refunded me but not Apple care
Having never had a 12.9 / 13” iPad before, now I’ve got the new 13” Air M2, I will never go back to an 11”. I love it
I had the 12.9 M1 and updated to the 13 inch M4.
I’m considering the same upgrade… so thank you for chiming in!
Did you feel that the screen has a lot of give on the 13"? I'm kind of disenchanted by it.
The 11” is brilliant! I love mine
@@jamy6431 What do you mean, give? It felt the same as the 11" to me.
If I was in the market for an iPad Pro, I would get the 13” for 4 reasons:
Did you notice anything different in terms of eye strain on any of the Tandem OLED devices? How do they compare to older tech in this regard?
upgraded from my 8 year old iPad 3 to iPad pro M4 11 inch model. love the small form factor since a bigger one just means you need a Macbook instead and not an iPad in my opinion.
iPad 3 came out in 2012 wdym💀
Just ordered the iPad 13” m4 and am so stoked
I upgraded from a 2018 11” iPad Pro. Loving the M4 so far. I like the 11” as it is easier for me to carry around and travel with.
Thinner = lighter which does matter a lot
I love mine. I already loved the M1 I had, but this one is amazing
What if the lightness of the M4 iPad Pro is really there to make it easier to hold for longer and make the Magic Keyboard less tippy
My M4 will be cellular so I’m paying the phone company every month for about 3 years.
i’ve got the iPad 13 plus accessories, I think it’s fabulous and I will stay with the 13 inch you can’t beat Real Estate
The package contains 20w. It charges slowly. Which power supply do I need? 35/40w? Ipad pro 13
First iPad I’ve owned since the Air2 and switching from android. Got the 13 inch pro it’s amazing!
I would go for the 11” Model. For me I made this decision based on the fact that I have a MacBook Air 15” M3 So really didn’t need the 13”
And just like that I went to the Apple Store and after seeing the 13” and man is it so much lighter than the previous generation so I made the decision and still had return time left and took the 11” back and exchanged for the 13”.
I use split screen a lot, so it would be 13” for me. Not interested yet as the 2018 is awesome and my 2nd gen Pencil works with it.
Pretty much in the same ball park. I’m trying not to pull the trigger but today I’m weak 😂😂
No problem straddling platforms, bar AirDrop which I do miss sometimes. Garmin MARQ Commander on my wrist these days.
I have choosen the 11 inch version, due to better portability. Switching from iPad pro 12.9 2nd gen. 😊 Its perfect.
This isn’t unique to this iPad though, I’m yet to see an OLED that 100% solves this
I have tested for the charging wattage and the most I can get is about 38 watts weather using the Magic Keyboard or the port directly on the iPad Pro.
Some reviews say the setup wobbles when you tap the screen. What’s your experience ?
I have the first generations ipad pro which will be passed on to my mother. It's 11 inch version and always liked it but never used a keyboard. Now I shall be going for 13 inch version as I get full size keyboard and bigger trackpad and instead of carrying laptop and iPad both I can just carry ipad with keyboard and sabe some weight in my bag if laptop
I will go for the 13’ all day, for real work you’ll miss a bigger screen. If it is only for content consumption, 11’ would be better
Hey Mark do you find that you can use the 13” IPad in “tablet mode” more oftentimes with the lighter size? I had a 12.9 and returned it just to big to use in tablet mode for an extended period of time. When docked it was perfect but I also like to use tablet mode for note taking….
I have a 1tb 3rd gen iPad Pro. I’m looking forward to upgrading to the 2tb version this summer.
I have a 12.9 and just out of warranty I now have a yellow screen, took it to Apple shop nothing they can do and didn’t know what was causing it?
Loving the Rapper’s Delight lyrics t-shirt!!!!
@@majiklantrn very true
I am waiting to see what improvements there are to ios18 at WWDC if there’s not many pro like improvements I will stick with my M1 iPad Pro.
same here. Thus far my M1 Ipad Pro has served me beautifully.
@@peraman2022 Mine has been great too.
I’ve just bought one today absolutely amazing and so worth it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My iPad is a 11-inch 2nd generation. Where does that put it on the age scale?
I have the original iPad Pro…. Battery is only about 2 hours at this point. I think it is going to be a HUGE upgrade for me.
I know is not about that Video, but what watch band is that on your Garmin?
Oh it does make a difference when it’s thinner it means it’s much easier to hold a less weight wish they can do the same for Mac
I dont understand, u said they have the same display but when i tested the 11 inch, the darks/blacks that u would see in procreate background or gmail are washed greyish. Maybe mine is faulty but is this the case with urs? i notice a significant difference between the displays because of this, especially the darks.
If you bite into the Apple Pencil Pro will your mouth feel the haptic feedback?
Lmao!
I must try out a Magic Keyboard in an Apple Store. I've heard such good things about it and I do love haptic feedback. Will it pull me away from my mechanical keyboards and does it feel similar to a Macbook keyboard? Is the extra travel sufficient?
I have a feeling you'll love it...
I had an Air 4, then a M1 Pro 11”. Thought I would get the 13” this go around, and I am regretting it. It’s too massive to be useful as a tablet
Can you please recommend accessories and a paper like screen protector that fits this tablet? I purchased one to draw and would love accessories that are convenient
My only question as an owner of the M2 I Pad Pro is , how much bigger is the track pad ?
Decided to finally upgrade from my iPad Air 2. I think I will notice the difference 😂
I’m returning my 11” model it’s not worth the upgrade from my M1 Pro
I absolutely love the 11 over the larger sized tablets … if i need a bigger screen, i use my MacBook Pro. This is exactly what Steve Jobs wanted. A middle between the MacBook and an iPhone. To me, The 13, is too big to be that middle solution.
Upgraded from my 2016 1st gen ipad pro to this yesterday. I thought my Ipad was fine and now I can’t even look at it.
this may be the OCD kicking in, but i think what Apple needs to do next….since they changed the orientation of the FaceTime camera….change the orientation of the Apple logo on the back of the iPad. no one holds the iPad in portrait orientation. 😅 as for the 11” it’s perfect…just enough screen. i love it so far, i was debating on going to the 13” but decided to stick with the 11” form factor.
I have the 13” pro and I love the display.
My old iPad Pro is an M0. lol. It’s slow and clunky. So, I purchased a 13” M4 iPad Pro today in silver.
You said the iPad Pro being thin was nothing. While the thinness might be nothing, the thinness causes a large weight reduction, and the weight reduction is very noticeable when using the iPad Pro in your lap or being held to be used.
When did I say it was "nothing"?
