Take a large flat blade screwdriver, put the handle against your ear (plastic, not rubber) and place the blade anywhere to hear the inside of a running engine - makes this stuff easier
On our 1999 Toyota Hiace LH122 with the 2L diesel engine and 450,000 Km on the odometer, the camshaft is so worn out that there is a slight valve leakage on #2 cylinder. I intend to replace the head with a completely assembled one or rebuild ours. Perhaps I can extract another 450,000 Km from this workhorse!
I got p0017 in my elantra, exhaust gurgles sometimes, and seems to stutter a bit, sometimes during constant elevation. Seems to do it randomly in certain gears and if you shift it will usually go away and return when you put it back into that gear. Replaced exhaust vvt solenoid, camshaft sensor (exhaust, put old one in other slot since nothing appeared to be wrong with it, didn't like that). Replaced the crankshaft sensor, and also replaced my oil and filter. I'm about to take it somewhere else, just not sure if to take to a dealer or another mechanic first. What do you suggest based on my symptoms. Also would misfire sometimes on cold starts and smell like gas.
it ended up needing a whole new engine, is a problem that is recalled in hyundai canada but not in US, piston out of spec or something and scored the cylinder walls, eventually would not start one day@@hemiplow1297
Can the camshafts be replaced while engine is in the car? How many hours of labor to replace camshafts, bearings, cam follower? My car just hot 240k and I think I need this done.
It depends on the car. My car for instance has an inline 6 with overhead cams so yes. If say you had a car with a boxer engine like say a Porsche then I’d think probably not.
Hi i have an problem with my audi a6 2.0tdi 2006 PD engine. maybe you can give me some advice. Recently i changed my camshafts now i am have p0299f turbo underboost fault. Could this be because a faulty camshaft if so which cam could cause this problem inlet camshaft or outlet camshaft? This fault started after changing the camshafts -My turbo is new -no vacuum leaks -N75 valve new -New pressure sensor

What about a hollow round metal tube wrapped in electrical tape with a small funnel attached to the end to listen through
nice video. what if camshaft aluminum seat on head is bad? changing only camshaft is not enough. or?

You have a lot of carbon on your valves you need to do valve clean
