This week I feel like I started a lot of things and yet finished nothing! Thank you to everyone for your boiler reassurances on last week's video - I'm getting it serviced next week, so hopefully it's fine 🤞Now if I could go a week without something else breaking, or finding anything else that's going to be expensive to deal with, that would be lovely! 😅 For anyone who's interested - you can find my amazon wishlist here - www.amazon.co.uk/registries/gl/guest-view/1RTBH9124KTQW (although there isn't a lot on it right now as people have been incredibly generous!) I'm holding out for buried treasure, but it'll probably be a sinkhole or something... 😂
Hi Jude, I think the pile of ash has fibreglass not asbestos. My reason for this is asbestos does not burn and was used behind cookers etc. if you look at pictures of Fiberglass sheets you will see it looks like what you have. We live in Aberdeenshire. Cheers Terry
I, like yourself am an introvert, so I rarely even post a comment, but I would just like to say how much I love your home. It is a very beautiful block and cottage and find it a privilege to be able to watch you go about your life there. Just remember we all have things that go wrong and take longer to do or cost more than we expect, but believe that it’s all part of the fun and it will probably always occur. Hoping you never get too down or discouraged. Look forward to watching for many years to come.
Jude, we don't watch you because you make a perfect life look easy. We watch because you make an imperfect life look satisfying. I think that is really what most of us hope to achieve one way or another. ❤
Jude I must disagree with you. You certainly have skills; one of the most important ones is your willingness and enthusiasm of giving it a go. Not everyone possesses the ability to do this. I also admire your honesty and strength in admitting you’ve made a mistake. Carry on. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
Yes! Jude may say they have no skills - I disagree! Jude has learning skills and is autodidactic. Learning comes with trial and error, and the ability to reflect and adapt. That’s what I see in these videos and I keep coming back for more ❤
Dear Jude, here's a tip from a dedicated composter (living not that far from where you are): leave the composting process be. This is Scotland, and it just isn't warm here. You will have noticed this. Therefore you are making cold compost, whether you want to or not. This will happen magically, all by itself. Only thing is, it takes time. My compost is on a 3 year rotation, I have 3 bins, in a smallish garden. No1 bin is this year's compost, number 2 is last years compost and no 3 bin is the compost I am going to put on the soil in about December/January time. and then I turn no2 into bin 3 etc, you get the picture. No 1 bin is the biggest, and no 3 is the smallest. I do rummage a bit in number 1 bin ,if I can't put any more material in, just with a fork, and then it settles and that is all I do to it. If you are so lucky as to be able to gather too much material for one bin, just make another one right next to it. Or 2! You need them close together so you can turn the stuff from the one to the other. And of course you want them right near where you're going to grow your veg, so you don't have to make unnecessary trips with wheelbarrows. Good luck!
Yes, I'm in Scotland too. I just keep filling quite a number of larger than normal composters and, when I finally do excavate them, it's black and beautiful stuff. You can speed up the process with wee .... I know to most that sounds disgusting, but I don't know why when folks are happy to put all sorts of manure into their garden. Not recommended to do that with human poop unless a foray into humanure has been researched in advance.
Tip from my husband who is a gardener, rake the leaves on to grass and mow them up , it chops them up nicely for composting. Your petrol mower should do a good job.
Thank you so much!! I probably have enough footage to make hour long videos, but they’d be less fun to watch! I’m trying to get to half an hour but I keep being too ruthless in the edits! 😂

Oh! I think I know why that board caught on your circular saw and tore - the weight of the board is causing it to fall into the middle where you're cutting it, thus gripping the blade. Try to have the fulcrum of each of your cut pieces a little closer to the inside where you're cutting -looks like it was resting on the very far end of the board. The setup looked way better when you were using the hand saw. It's better to have the board fall away from you (even if it flips into the air) than it is to have it fall in towards the saw. You're doing great! Good luck!

I look forward to your videos-they always give me a smile and your biggest skill is being you with your great attitude even when things go wrong. I enjoyed watching the cows watching you.
Hello Jude. You don't need a replacement reel for your Dad's old trimmer, just the nylon, which comes in rolls (it can be any name brand). The reel comes out, then you wind the nylon thread around it and reinsert the reel. You just need to make sure it's thin enough to pass through the reel hole. I enjoy your videos so much. I am a bit envious of your Beautiful property. Nothing like that in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!! ;) Cheers
Nice vlog today Jude. I like your sense of humor. By the way I don’t think you give yourself much credit. I think you are cable to do anything!!!! See you next week.
Pegs and String are always a handy tool to use when measuring out your beds. 2 to 3 foot pegs if you can, to help give you the levelling space you may need due to your ground slant. Depending how how deep you will want to go. Then you level against your string. Similar to what you would do if laying concrete.
This is why you use your lawn mower with a bag it chops stuff up and then you put it in your pile….in the us we also purchase worms ,and compost starter then keep it covered for warmth
Great that you’re pushing ahead with the raised beds. It’s a very difficult shaped garden to put nice rectangular boxes in without it looking strange - I hope your planning goes smoothly! 💕
Keep a bucket to pee in and add it to the compost heap. It adds essential nitrogen and speeds up the composting process. It repels varmints too. Just do it!
Absolutely! As long as you do not take any medication. I didn’t think about that, so stopped using pee this year after learning about it. Now, I make «tea» from nettles and weeds and add instead.
@@Ragt0pnettle tea is brilliant! I had a batch in a bucket at my last house - I’m thinking of getting a water butt and using it just for nettle / comfrey tea!
@@rewildingjude making tea is also a great way to kill weeds in a way where they can do good in your garden. I have a black 100 liter plastic barrel. This summer I filled it halfway with water and piled things I didn’t want on my compost heap in there. The sun baked it, and the warm water drowned/cooked the seeds. I’ve used the water as fertilizer, and kept the plant bits. So far I haven’t seen anything grow from the sludge, but I’m keeping the sludge away from the compost until I’m sure the method. Next year I’m pretty sure the sludge is going on the compost. No organic matter lost 🤩
Thank you once again for the time and effort you have put into making this podcast for our enjoyment. Have a good week and hope that all your projects come to fruition as planned. Catch you next Sunday unless you decide to go on a world cruise. xx
I'm wishing you good luck regarding the possible hazardous burn pile. You also are able to say that it didn’t happen today, but I will try again tomorrow. These are all important skills. In fact they are more important than the DIY skills. Those can be learned. Keep going. I really enjoy and appreciate my Sunday afternoon time catching up with you each week.
Cows are very friendly like big dogs i always think 🤔
Don’t let them fool you. I got chased by some once. Quicker than you think 🤭😩
I would sit all day on that wall with them.
@@JoFloss I know and they can jump 😉

I don't think ivy is good for animals. I know it can be toxic for humans. Hopefully they would probably have to eat a large amount to cause problems. 🤫
Nothing like that in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!! ;) Cheers
But there’s plenty of cows in Wisconsin!
The autumn colours on your land are quite lovely Jude 🍁
Thanks Jude, such a pleasure to watch your videos, a calm descends over me!
What a great and efficient shelving system! I’ve never been able to convince my husband that old furniture is not the best way to go for storage 😄
That corner unit really makes it, doesn’t it.
I've been waiting all morning for your videos! Thank you! ❤😂
Ahh thank you! I hope you enjoyed it!
I wish I lived closer so I could give you a lift although you seem to be managing nicely all on your own. Well done. Xx
We all want to help Jude, don’t we?
This is why you use your lawn mower with a bag it chops stuff up and then you put it in your pile….in the us we also purchase worms ,and compost starter then keep it covered for warmth
You definitely have skills, as well as the desire to just get things done. Lovely watching you make your mark on your lovely new home.
My father who is 85 has a really old strimer he still uses he just buy a loose reel of the string and winds it onto the spool himself. Heather
Love, love, love that final shot!
Yours is my favourite channel on TH-cam. So inspiring. Thanks from NZ
Ahh thank you so much! 🥰🥰
You work hard around your home. Your cottage is so cute. Look forward to each week.
Great that you’re pushing ahead with the raised beds. It’s a very difficult shaped garden to put nice rectangular boxes in without it looking strange - I hope your planning goes smoothly! 💕
Thanks for these beautiful, gentle videos. Balm for the soul!
You are doing a great job Jude. You have a wide range of tasks, and teaching a few of us, your knowledge and ideas. 🤗
@@Ragt0pthat nettle tea is powerful stuff. I used to brew it for my plants.
@@Ragt0pnettle tea is brilliant! I had a batch in a bucket at my last house - I’m thinking of getting a water butt and using it just for nettle / comfrey tea!
I can neither confirm nor deny whether I’ve been peeing on my compost 😂 a bucket would probably be sensible though 😂
Don't be so hard on your self Jude you are doing brilliantly. Be proud of your achievements ❤
Thank you once again for the time and effort you have put into making this podcast for our enjoyment. Have a good week and hope that all your projects come to fruition as planned. Catch you next Sunday unless you decide to go on a world cruise. xx
Thanks Maureen!! No cruise planned, so I’ll see you on Sunday 😂
Love your organisational skills Jude! Need to do something similar in my garden shed 🤯
I hope you have really secure locks on your outbuildings 🙏🏻
You are a wonderful young man and l wish you everything you wish for yourself for the future.love what you are doing❤❤❤
Its looking good i love the scorching of the wood look forward to next weekends video ❤
I'm wishing you good luck regarding the possible hazardous burn pile. And I do appreciate your care in making sure such things are resolved properly and the environment is treated as well as it needs to be. I can only imagine how much easier it will be for you once you have invested a couple of years into your property. I enjoy your videos from Michigan, USA!
Wonderful to see you Jude😃👏🏼
Keep smiling Jude you are so lovely and doing a great job xx
It’s a long time since I saw a Dynamo stamper brilliant 👏
I love it!! I’ve had it for years and it makes me so happy 😂😂

Thank you!! I wish I had enough energy for twice a week videos!! Maybe one day!
So glad to see you 😊😊😊😊😊
Oh I wasn’t expecting a video this evening Jude but what a lovely surprise! Was thinking today we weren’t going to see you this evening as last week you said you were going to be at a wedding… so lovely to see you working in the out doors. For me watching the video is like looking through a window! You seem to have good warm weather up there for this time of year Jude! ❤
