Even if you waited a while to become a mom you're still allowed to say that you don't love all of it. My late husband worked away a lot and honestly some times my life felt like groundhog day and even more so when I was widowed (my son was 4). My reward is a caring articulate son who is 20 tomorrow. Hi … a little tip. That hides a multitude of sins …… Paper Mache ! My very old cottage was full of it ! Kitchen roll is good paper to use and PVA (watered down) soak BITS of kitchen roll (avoid straight edges ) … fix that wallpaper …. Fixes blown plaster …. Fills on holes in walls …. Even stained wood can be mended (add brown to PVA) …. I covered a unit in kitchen roll mache , made it bunny in places ….. hey presto a kinda cement looking unit ! A million uses …. Costs very little ☘️
Jude, that little cupboard once held clothes. Back in the day, everything was hung out on the line, then ironed and folded with starch to go back in the cupboard. The only clothing that would normally be hung up would be a suit and the missus' best dress. And yes, EVERYTHING would be in the cupboard.
Ahh that’s so interesting!! I could probably fit all of my clothes in there (I’m not a big clothes person!) but I’m much better at hanging them up than I am at folding them 😂😂

I’m definitely getting into it now! I did a questionable job on the chest of drawers in my bedroom a few years ago and I’m tempted to redo it now! (But there’s a cupboard in the shed that was my dad’s dad’s - and I’m more excited to work on that!)

I've travelled to Scotland for the first time this September and completely fallen in love with the country. Now I am kind of seriously considering moving to Scotland and looking for a job there to be around the beautiful nature and people. Checking back in a year to see where I ended up :D

I have channelled my inner Hannah Hauxwell as I approach my second winter with no heat. I have learnt to do no end of diy in the past year! I struggle with birthdays and holidays still, even after all this time. Grief comes in waves. You are doing a great job at honoring your parents by simply living your life. Thats something I forgot to do….rather I didn’t think I was worthy enough to live. But about a year ago, I chose to live and keep pushing forward. A slower paced life is exactly what I needed…..seems like you’ve already got that part figured out 💜

If you want a good compost accelerator get a couple of chickens. The saw dust and droppings from cleaning out their roost and egg box added to the bin makes great compost. I speak from 20 yrs experience and lots of free compost, plus great eggs of course 😎👩🌾🇫🇷💋

Hi … a little tip. That hides a multitude of sins …… Paper Mache !
My very old cottage was full of it !
Kitchen roll is good paper to use and PVA (watered down) soak BITS of kitchen roll (avoid straight edges ) … fix that wallpaper …. Fixes blown plaster …. Fills on holes in walls …. Even stained wood can be mended (add brown to PVA) …. I covered a unit in kitchen roll mache , made it bunny in places ….. hey presto a kinda cement looking unit ! A million uses …. Costs very little

Jude, that little cupboard once held clothes. Back in the day, everything was hung out on the line, then ironed and folded with starch to go back in the cupboard.
The only clothing that would normally be hung up would be a suit and the missus' best dress.
And yes, EVERYTHING would be in the cupboard.
Ahh that’s so interesting!! I could probably fit all of my clothes in there (I’m not a big clothes person!) but I’m much better at hanging them up than I am at folding them 😂😂

I’m definitely getting into it now! I did a questionable job on the chest of drawers in my bedroom a few years ago and I’m tempted to redo it now! (But there’s a cupboard in the shed that was my dad’s dad’s - and I’m more excited to work on that!)

I've travelled to Scotland for the first time this September and completely fallen in love with the country. Now I am kind of seriously considering moving to Scotland and looking for a job there to be around the beautiful nature and people. Checking back in a year to see where I ended up :D

However I am trusting the universe helps me achieve my lifelong dream of getting a cosy cottage with a little bit of land, somewhere for my bee hives to live and some sheep to talk too.

I have channelled my inner Hannah Hauxwell as I approach my second winter with no heat. I have learnt to do no end of diy in the past year! Which has sadly used up my crocheting time. 🤩 sadly I’ve idling my time at work earning more money to do more diy and refurbishments. I love your stoicism and crack on attitude, reminds me of myself. I've have binged all the episodes up till now, and will finish the other 2 tonight. Today is the 4 year anniversary of my father's passing, and knowing your story, and hearing you remembering your parents over the course of this series has helped me grieve today. Some days are hard days and today is one of them.

Ahh I’m sorry to hear that. Grief is so hard isn’t it? I struggle with my birthday now as it’s almost exactly in the middle of when my parents died, like a grief sandwich.
I struggle with birthdays and holidays still, even after all this time. Grief comes in waves.
You are doing a great job at honoring your parents by simply living your life. Thats something I forgot to do….rather I didn’t think I was worthy enough to live. But about a year ago, I chose to live and keep pushing forward. A slower paced life is exactly what I needed…..seems like you’ve already got that part figured out 💜

If you want a good compost accelerator get a couple of chickens. The saw dust and droppings from cleaning out their roost and egg box added to the bin makes great compost. I speak from 20 yrs experience and lots of free compost, plus great eggs of course 😎👩🌾🇫🇷💋

Reminds me of the old miners cottage, my husband and I renovated when we were in our twenties. 2 children later we had outgrown it and moved to a bigger newer house.
