In 2023 I was in a rut. I was burnt out, exhausted and grieving the death of my parents. In 2024 I knew something had to change, so I closed my business, sold my house and moved to an old stone cottage in the middle of the Scottish countryside. Join me as I attempt to renovate the cottage (and attached barn), build a back yard homestead on less than an acre, and fall in love with life, all over again.

If you're new - here's the backstory:
I've been stuck in rut for the past couple of years - both my parents passed away at the end of 2022 and since then I've been navigating grief, burnout and just being scared to make a change. I decided that 2024 was going to be the year I set my life on fire, because life is too short to spend all of it wondering just what the point is. So I quit my job, sold my house in the suburbs and bought a 150yr old cottage in the middle of the Scottish countryside. Follow along as I attempt to renovate this little stone house, build a backyard homestead and hopefully fall in love with life, all over again.
Spoiler alert - I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so almost anything could happen.

A bit of general advice, don't cut up the thing you are replacing until you know the replacement worked. If it had been a toilet door and not worked, .... if you see what I mean. Sometimes you have to restore the thing after a failure. This is experience talking 🙄

I love how your wood shed turned out it's really nice looking. I used to plant herbs and bulbs in Old tires it worked really well. Plus if your herbs get out of hand they can only stay inside the tires and they don't take over your garden area.
