Thanks for this video Rob! Just used it to install the OEM rack on my 22 Sport. Thankfully everything bolt wise lined up beautifully. Used a lot of silicone to make sure I don’t have issues down the road. All the people knocking this rack because you can’t use it for over landing are funny - because over landing is what everybody does… 🙄😆 Up here in Canada I use our roof racks for skis, snowboards, kayaks, and occasionally our Thule box. Don’t need a prinsu for any of those, and I like the looks of this better anyway. Not bashing the prinsu, it’s a great rack for what it’s designed for. Thanks again for the great content!

Thanks for the 'Customer Review' of the Tacoma Roof Rack, Rob. I have been considering putting these on my '20 TRD Pro, but I'm having second thoughts now. I suppose it could also serve as a supplemental grab bar to help back seat passengers get into the truck...kinda expensive for that though. BTW: I do like how they look on yours!

Yes, they did move it back somewhere in the 2020 year. If you’re less than an inch you’re good. Have a look here (description) for the silicone I used: th-cam.com/video/099Z9H7Jf-g/w-d-xo.html

You saw my truck! I have that exact same rack. Now, the wholes are not aligned for sure, but on the second gen, I do not have an issue with the shark fin antenna. It still has a very tiny gap so it doesn't really touches the bar. I do use my rack for kayak (about 56 pounds), the fishing rod and the front light bar. I didn't have to drill on my truck for the light bar as it can be mounted on that roof rack.

They make some safari style baskets that will attach to it. And yes, the 21 or the 22 has the fin moved. I want one just for the occasional camp trip ( put the light stuff up there, sleeping bags and such) and not deal with the daily wind noise.

My pet theory is the 100 lb limit has less to do with what it can support than what the weight up high does to the center of gravity. Had an FJ Cruiser it had a big roof rack they said 150 lbs. that metal would support more but corners get weird at highway speed with that weight up high. Just my theory. YMMV😉

If you want to carry something a hundred pounds or more on top of your Tacoma put a Skyhook in the bed of your truck

Why didn't you get a prinsu or a front runner? My front runner low profile rack fits with the sharkfin antenna and fit perfectly in the predrilled holes and your talking about the wind deflector on the prinsu rack. 2021 Tacoma trd offroad. Also learn how to portage its pretty easy. If you have issues lifting 100 lbs over your head and weigh less than 200 lbs don't even consider yourself a male.

Short answer...because I like the look of the OEM product better👍

@@RobMotive Fair enough. I wonder if you got a super thin layer that equated the same length of the oem rails and put it under just to raise it slightly in the rear with a bit of an angle if it would change the appearance of that look. And I was just talking smack about the lifting 100 lbs over your head and just wanted to bait you in. Much love from Canada and if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have gotten a 6 speed tacoma so thanks for the content, others and myself appreciate it.

Just to piggyback off that. The piece would start at the front of the rail and build an incline all the way to the back just giving it enough clearance to make it over the antenna and acting like a wedge underneath the existing piece. If you know someone with a 3D printer handy this would be super easy or it could be a diy.

That’s not a bad idea. If I planned to actually haul anything up there I’d pursue that👍👍

The recovery hooks are worthless, the grab handle for the driver also.

LOL, it is useless like the fake scoop on the hood. Just for the looks. But who cares I like it though. How is the wind noise on the highway? And just 100 lbs? Wow I thought my JKU Hard Top rated to 300 lbs was useless. Thanks for the video. Very informative.

I watch a Video where the OEM for a roof rack cost $300.00. the toyota roof rack cost $399.00. I would buy the toyota roof rack better.

Prinsu Design! One of the few companies that make highly functional roof racks. Yeah, they cost a shit ton, but I got mine and Im extremely satisfied with it

Never did like the appearance of those roof rails, I'd return them. Your truck looks better without.
