Tax churches. Atheists need to stop carrying the freeloading churches. And outlaw executives getting paid more than any other worker. And outlaw the mass breeding holocaust mass murder of factory farming. Go vegan.
Do THAT, before you start having kids. I'm 60 and my advice to young people is the same as when I was 20.
Nothing special nothing important about these old people's opinions. Biased reporting, biased interviewing.
Ask PRISONERS for THEIR opinions. Ask POOR old people for THEIR opinions. Get an OBJECTIVE perspective. Not biased sampling.

It's so fresh I can't wrap my head around to write a great comment right now. But my dad was very healthy and active along with my grandma, his mother... who is currently alive at 97 almost 98. A lot of my grandmas siblings are alive and are in their 90s including one that is 102 and healthy. In my country old people are the most vulnerable part of society. They are not used to certain threats like social engineering that were not present during their younger days. You get experience and learn everyday and old people loose their ability to learn new things the older they get. The world around you changes every day and you must adapt to it constantly. Most old people either refuse to adapt or fail to do so. They are stubborn and their experience gets dated and useless as time advances.

I wish I remembered the source, but I came across a study surveying people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s that asked them what time of their lives they missed the most. The most common response was their 30s. They missed having people rely on them, need them. They missed having responsibility and a sense of purpose. I'm in my 30s now. The things that tend to stress me out the most are having so many responsibilities and having people relying on me.
Learning about this study helped me appreciate that the things that stress me out today may be the things I one day miss the most. Ultimately, I've learned that every stage of life has special aspects that we can enjoy, and a secret to happiness is focusing on those things that we have worked hard for and on those things we may someday miss - even if they're imperfect or cause us stress. It's a helpful practice to frequently reflect on the things we take for granted and to express gratitude for those things.

You parents act from position of authority, superiory and force - all those thing young age people don't like, not much of opportunity to gain someones trust. In my job as a doctor, I am fortunate to get to talk with the elderly about their loves and worries and fears often. As a 31 year old, I think something I try to do is not to think as these people as old people who are seeing me, but people my age who are now in an old person’s body. That closes the perceived distance which, to be perfectly honest, is an illusion because we’re all closer than we think to each other.
    This was a wonderful video.

Yes, I grew up without grandparents and then had the chance to spend a lot of time with my elderly parents - if you have patience, which is sometimes required, you will get amazing wisdom, advice, stories - and knowledge - even if you are treating them medically, I am amazed at how aware older people are of their own bodies, time, limits, what they need to keep them going and strong. It's knowledge for the medical professionals, too! You have a great perspective and it will pay off for you, too.

Strange how just seeing elderly folk sometimes we unthinkingly dehumanise or minimise them.

I cried hearing him talk about it. My grandfather was pretty lonely I think when my grandma died. They were together around 40 years. He didn’t talk about it much because he was a “tough guy” and very old school, but you could tell. But I don’t think my grandma could bear losing anyone else. It was a gift in a way since my whole life I wasn’t very close to my grandpa, mostly my grandma because he was much I’m more introverted in a sense. When she passed he moved in with us and it gave my mom and I a chance to know him better before he passed a few years later. It gave me a whole new appreciation and love for my grandfather and who he was in my life. I didn’t realize this until after he passed away.

For anyone watching this and feeling utterly heartbroken at the loneliness some of these people feel, I'd urge you to give some of your time reaching out to your grandparents, or elderly neighbour's, or give time to your local aged care home. I visit a few residents fortnightly in an aged care facility close to my house and I can't tell you how much I enjoy my visits with them, and they have told me the same. As society we need to do better at giving our time to connect with people so that it's baked in to how we exist as a community.

She must have had self-confidence despite sight and hearing issues. She became such a dear friend to me and my little toddler. I miss her so much. She taught me a lot. She was single after difficult life events. But she still knew how to make friends at her age. I invited her to our family Easter celebration. She felt like a great aunt or something. They, for the most part, have taken good care of themselves. They are dressed well, because they respect themselves and the people they might run into. Good, no, GREAT examples for all of us.

I just cannot imagine being legally bound to another human being for potentially the rest of my life, living day in and day out, every day seeing that person and not having my personal space and freedom. I’ve suffered a lot, but I wouldn’t be the person I am today without that suffering. So I only look forward. I don’t live in the world of “what ifs”.

I love the comment “ if you live in the past, you’re depressed. If you live in the future, you’re anxious. If you live in the present, you’re content .” Well said! God bless them all. 🤍🤍🤍

Thank you so much for this. We dont hold our seniors with as much regard as we should. I just turned 60 and it really messed with my mind. Like one of your guests said, i too never had a real "goal" or "passion" my family is my greatest achievement, i am proud of that. And the way that gentleman spoke of his late wife.... well, that he feels that kind of love, thats one big achievement many will never know.♥️

Do not place your children in a extremely tough situation by being determined to force them to stand on their own two feet. When they call pleading to come home from college, open your doors and arms. Some just aren’t ready for this world. When they tell you indifference kills and then they die, it’s may not be on you but you will feel that pain. Remember the Bible tells the story of the father who welcomed his son home. I failed to remember that story. I did show my son indifference, I was cold to his plea. He died. Don’t be so hasty to prove your point.

Don't leave anything for later, it may never come.
Ask that girl out, call that guy, tell people close to you that you love them.
Whatever you do in life, don't chase money, it will never make you happy.
