@@MrPathorock This is actually a very positive video. These seniors are doing about as well as you could hope at 80+, mentally and physically. If you wanted to make a depressing video, show older people who are poverty stricken, living in a state home with broken bodies. Forgotten.
Tax churches. Atheists need to stop carrying the freeloading churches. And outlaw executives getting paid more than any other worker. And outlaw the mass breeding holocaust mass murder of factory farming. Go vegan. Do THAT, before you start having kids. I'm 60 and my advice to young people is the same as when I was 20. Nothing special nothing important about these old people's opinions. Biased reporting, biased interviewing. Ask PRISONERS for THEIR opinions. Ask POOR old people for THEIR opinions. Get an OBJECTIVE perspective. Not biased sampling.
"If you live in the past, you're depressed. If you live in the future, you're anxious. If you live in the present, you're at peace." Fuck, man. Spot on.
This is definitely not true. I live in the past and it’s what drives me. I wouldn’t change it. If you live in the past and take drugs which also includes alcohol, then you will be depressed
I am sorry, but older people are the only people who have a strong voice in western societies, because they are the majority. Steering with the US president
The guy who talks about living in the past, future, and present reminding me of something I heard recently. "What surprises me most about humankind is that we get bored of our childhood. Rush to grow up and long to be children again. We lose our health to make money. Then lose our money to restore our health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, we forget the present. Such that we live in neither the present nor the future. That we live as if we were never going to die. And die as though we’ve never lived."
I'm only 40 but, I wish I could tell my younger self ...Quit being affraid of everything. If you want to talk to a girl, just do it. If you want to say something to someone, do it. Most people let fear rule their life and don't even realize it.
Even if you fall on your face at least put the effort to fall on your face!! I have hold myself back from running up because I don’t a F what anyone thinks of me in any capacity and with that alone the rejection wouldn’t matter one bit because you can’t get wet unless jump in the water first 😂😂😂😂😂
It's been a few years for me and I can tell you; when those feelings come over me it's a blessing to know that I have loved. It's especially hard at first when it's fresh and frequent but those "visits" get sweeter as time goes on. The wet eyes and tight throat are like a quick homecooked meal these days.
The guy with a Ferrari shirt sounds really heartbroken, probably from the loss of his wife and mother. May he gain strength and peace to carry on 😢. He looks like a really cool dude.
My grandmother is 92 and bed-ridden in a nursing home. I asked her what she does all day. She said she mostly thinks about the days when her kids were young. That short window of her life was the most meaningful and memorable. That was eye opening
Thank you for sharing this. I have two little boys and sometimes daily life with them is exhausting. It is a lot of work. Comments like this help me to remember how significant this part of my life is and I appreciate this time. All the best to your grandmother.
@@TheSundayCall Wow, such a negative and pessimistic outlook. Trust God, and lean on his understanding, your life is a gift from God so be thankful you have it.
to the lady in the white hat who said that what we need is usually in the effort we‘re avoiding out of fear or boredom or laziness - your words resonated so hard
“In sterquiliniis invenitur”-in filth, it will be found. Carl Jung interpreted it as “that which you need the most will be found where you least want to look”
I’m retired. Your story of a conservative savings profile is a common one. Any course of action involves risks. You might be avoiding market risk, but you are taking on other risks like inflation and reinvestment risk.
My husband is willing to work for another 5 years if needed. Are we in good shape? Will we be okay if I begin withdrawing from Social Security when I’m 62 and my husband is 67? Should we hire a financial planner to help us navigate this?
Certainly get a pro to look at your predicament (if you even have one, lol) A second opinion from a comprehensive financial adviser can help you look at more than just your current estimate of cash flow and needs but also longevity risk, outliving your money, tax considerations, legacy planning, healthcare costs, inflation and a myriad of other things you may not be considering when reviewing your current situation
She is beautiful and she knows the truth. If anything would have been different, she just wouldn’t be who she is. That acknowledgment is priceless, as it just happens to be the truth for all of us.
My brother and I have this argument all the time 😆. I'm on that lady's side. Why would you undervalue your life experience? A different path leads to a different end. Ask yourself if you'd like to be a 90yr old Karen. Today's right choice is tomorrows wrong one. Just live, make mistakes, learn and grow.
I love how the interviewer stopped in the middle of the video to acknowledge the conversations that were being shared and to cause us to reflect. Awesome job!
True love isn’t about money house a car or wealth …. It’s about accepting someone status no matter what state there in …. In poor … I learnt u just learnt to adapt and when u love that person a lot … you just accept them and their flaws … when they get hurt u get hurt with them …. When they smile u want to see it even more no matter what life throws at you… you just hold there hand tight and never want to let it go ….. My ma told me when my papa came to meet my mama for hand in marriage …. My dad was a student at university…. According to my ma …. He came with another uncle ( it was an arranged marriage) both of my parents fell in love at first sight … my dad wasn’t rich he was a common and still is a common man … they went though so much as a couple …. My mom was diagnosed with brain tumour and my dad would abuse himself in drinking alcohol … I lost my parents when I was just 5 years old …. Since then my mental health suffered a lot … I was diagnosed being a dyslexic child at school … according to state schools it’s a disability but I heard in the upper class there are boarding school in the U.K. that can help u to achieve ur full potential … not that my ma could have taken me there as a kid cos she was a single parent looking after 2 kids at the time … when my parents passed away … my ma was then diagnosed with cancer for almost 27 years of her life … Dyslexia kids just think very differently… there minds are programmed a different way into seeing the world very differently…. When I look at these people crying …. It reminds me of me of my deep wounds that caused a lot of pain at childhood … I know how it feels … I miss my parents a lot … but I know there not gone .. I believe in miracles…. I pray 🙏🏼 for these people too When ur family leave u n go from this world … life does get so lonely… I’m just grateful that I live in my mama n papa house ( the house they got married in) and I feel safe knowing they protect me …. My life full of challenges… at this point I’m trying to secure a permanent job working with send kids …. And I dunno what other challenges life has in store for me But love is real … I seen it with my parents … and I NEVR got married .. because I never found true love.. and I realised it was because true love doesn’t exist anymore But the fact that I live in ma n papa home… I found true love in my house alone of loving myself …. I don’t have a disability… I’m just a person who see the world differently I love my parents a lot … I don’t want to b rich or famous or have wealth or power… I just want my parents back 😢
theres a very famous Croatian actor who also played in some international movies, called Rade Šerbedžija, he is 77 as of now, his father died in 2017 while being 104 years old I once watched an interview with him (and I knew he was in his 70s) and almost spit my coffe when he said "well my father the other day said to me..."
The guy in the red shirt talking about his mothers loss hits very hard. I (age 36) just lost my dad 2 weeks ago (age 78). It's so fresh I can't wrap my head around to write a great comment right now. But my dad was very healthy and active along with my grandma, his mother... who is currently alive at 97 almost 98. A lot of my grandmas siblings are alive and are in their 90s including one that is 102 and healthy. Being so adapted to my dads side of the family having this longevity, I didn't think about how lucky it is for my dad to have his whole life with his mom around.
@@Nicole-ul1im I’m so sorry for your loss 😞 …most people in my family have passed away around 60 yrs old so hearing some people still have parents at an older age, blows my mind. Sending you lots of positive vibes ❤️
I love the woman who talked about pursuing what takes effort, and also that she wouldn't tell herself anything because she likes where she wound up. Truly inspiring.
Not really, it's just a goal you crave for. Things you already got - are not goals anymore. You still need them, but you have them, so they are not goals anymore.
The man in the red shirt had me in tears. Seeing the grief he had over losing his wife made it clear how much he loved and missed her. It was so heartbreaking to see him hurting so much, and I hope he's able to heal and find joy again.
In my job as a doctor, I am fortunate to get to talk with the elderly about their loves and worries and fears often. As a 31 year old, I think something I try to do is not to think as these people as old people who are seeing me, but people my age who are now in an old person’s body. That closes the perceived distance which, to be perfectly honest, is an illusion because we’re all closer than we think to each other. This was a wonderful video.
Yes, I grew up without grandparents and then had the chance to spend a lot of time with my elderly parents - if you have patience, which is sometimes required, you will get amazing wisdom, advice, stories - and knowledge - even if you are treating them medically, I am amazed at how aware older people are of their own bodies, time, limits, what they need to keep them going and strong. It's knowledge for the medical professionals, too! You have a great perspective and it will pay off for you, too.
I was touched by your comment, I love that you do that as a doctor. You reminded me I used to do the same, I used to like seeing photos of my elderly patients when they were young - usually war time photos, so I could picture the full humanity and life experience when I spoke to them. Strange how just seeing elderly folk sometimes we unthinkingly dehumanise or minimise them.
@@ec1222 Exactly - as if they had never been young, made huge life decisions, started businesses, climbed mountains, etc. It's sad so it's amazing to hear people who can remember that! It will be all of us one day - if we are lucky enough! Good for you and this doctor.
Amazingly put! I lived with my grandfather for couple years when I was 25-30 and looked at him and talked to him like he was my age (he was 86-91 back than). And I knew he wanted me to perceive him like that...
I wish I remembered the source, but I came across a study surveying people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s that asked them what time of their lives they missed the most. The most common response was their 30s. They missed having people rely on them, need them. They missed having responsibility and a sense of purpose. I'm in my 30s now. The things that tend to stress me out the most are having so many responsibilities and having people relying on me. Learning about this study helped me appreciate that the things that stress me out today may be the things I one day miss the most. Ultimately, I've learned that every stage of life has special aspects that we can enjoy, and a secret to happiness is focusing on those things that we have worked hard for and on those things we may someday miss - even if they're imperfect or cause us stress. It's a helpful practice to frequently reflect on the things we take for granted and to express gratitude for those things.
Wow that's really good to know about that survey. I understand that and it resonates. That's the worry and stress I have now, though perhaps it'll be the most important time
What I've learned is the most personal growth and meaning came from really hard times. Thank you for posting your comment. It helps me be reminded that being needed can be a blessing. Sometimes it's easy to give into resentment and burnout. It's nice to have a long term/range perspective and that it may not that green on the other side (solitude).
I lost my mom suddenly to a heart attack last October. She was only 62 and healthy. No signs or symptoms, it was a day like any other. One minute I was talking to her while she was eating and drinking water on her bed. I walked into my room for a minute and when I came out she was gone. You really never know, my life has never been the same since. She was my best friend, my mom, my teammate and we loved each other deeply. I can’t explain the feeling I have now that she’s gone. Cherish the time with people you love because you really never know.
I’m so sorry for your lost, Same Happend for me i’ve lost my my mother 52 years to Heart attack while she was in hospital one day before she cane home, this year 23 february
I feel sorry for your loss! It must be very painful for you and your relatives. Your mother must have been a nice person if she had been blessed with such an easy death.
I’m really sorry for ur loss, I lost my dad at an early age and the loss always leaves a huge hole, but then I remember they never truly leave you spiritually
'If you live in the past, you're depressed, if you live in the future, you're anxious, but if you live in the present, you're at peace cos you're focused on the present.' Wise saying from a wise man
"Youth is wasted on the young." I take care of senior citizens for a living and while it doesn't pay that much, the relationships that I've made over the years are priceless to me. That generation is very lonely and have tons of wisdom to offer. It's sad how neglected and left behind it has become.
Right. But what I find so interesting is how the younger generation is complaining about being lonely as well. It’s a really sad thing to think about when you really look at the reality of what the younger generation will experience when they are this old. We all have to start prioritizing giving genuine love to one another that has no strings attached. It’s worth it in the end.
NOT ALL but some of them need to be left alone. They were evil when they were young and as they grew older they continued to be evil and treat people as objects to be used instead of people. Again I'm stating this is not all of them but some.
yeah thats life, you get old and if you dont have your family around you, you will be alone. If you failed as parent and get shitty kids, they wont take you in their home and you wil be alone too. ( most likely you were a shitty parent, if the kids turn out crap) And if you have no kids, then you will be garanted alone in your old days, so having kids and raisig them right is the best insurance for every aspect of life.
@@1armeddrummerinaprisonrock244 People shouldn't have kids just so they have someone to take care of them as they age. That's the same as a person getting married just so they have someone to take care of them. Very selfish and entitled. Also just because the parents are toxic doesn't mean the children will be and just because the children are toxic doesn't mean the parents were. We all have a choice and despite what hardships we go through people choose how they want to be in life.
Agree... and its not just the very old who are getting overlooked. I'm Gen X in my 50s. Young college grads have told me to my face that I should retire so they can have my job. If any of them bothered to ask, I could easily pass along my knowledge and experience and insure their job security for life. Yet they don't ask. They just tell me "step aside old man" without having any comprehension or ability to do what I do. Its silly.
I am alone. Because I’ve gained a lot of weight in the last years. The more I was gaining weight, the more I became lonely. I’m 34 years old. I think is time for me to stop thinking about others but think about me first. I want to loose this weight and retrieve my true self. I’m afraid to go older and not doing it and regret it. I wish everyone health and love.
It seems many of us have isolated ourselves for different reasons in the past years from the pandemic. I'm truly hopeful that you'll be able to get back out there. I just started after 2 years of being completely antisocial & it feels amazing. You got this.
Thank you guys for your kind words. I decided yesterday to go subscribe to swim lanes just 2 corners away from my place. Began to go every morning. I wish you also to find joy and hapiness ❤️
Hey if it helps at all, I am 32 and this read almost exactly like my life the past few years. Please know you’re not alone. And don’t hesitate to get support in the form of therapy and doing fun things with friends.
I will be 81 this September . I lost my husband five years ago . Turning 80 is really weird .Thank God I have my two kids ! I did tear up watching these people because I know how they feel . I may come back here with more things to say . I just wish I could of given each and everyone of them a hug and a kiss ❤I mean these people in the video 👍

@@malapertfourohfour2112 depends on how convincing you are 😉 I am certain that it is more likely for you to find a way to convince your younger self on doing something than what it was for your parents. You lived his life and know the outcomes of events yet to come, making it easier for you to gain his trust. You parents act from position of authority, superiory and force - all those thing young age people don't like, not much of opportunity to gain someones trust. You on the other hand can act from the position of a helping friend and in time make him do stuff willingly.
I cried for myself a few times here. The advice "I wouldn't tell my inner child anything, it brought me here". "People are afraid to fall in love". But You can feel the guy in the ferrari shirt really hit home. He grew up in a abusive house, like me. He anxiously people pleased and over gave, like me. But then he found a relationship, like I'm looking for. You can tell at age 70 he's had no big goals and still feels lost. It's a huge learning lesson for me that a relationship is possible, and to have my own values, big goals, and to meet them on my own. Take the risks. This video should be blasted to everyone. You can tell most of these people have experienced great losses, and they still are outside, in a park, chatting with a stranger. Props to them.
This is beautiful. I want to hug the man who was emotional about his wife. His pain and love for her is palpable. She must have been a lovely person. 💜
The guy in the red T-shirt - his pain is fresh. I wish him well. As a senior single woman, he gave me hope for a good relationship, and I'm sure a lot of other people were touched by his words also.
I didn't know, I was going to click on this video before work and cry my eyes out. I'm 45, I've already lost both my parents and much of my extended family. I'm grateful to have the most amazing husband and 3 beautiful children. Thank you for these videos, you have no idea how much they mean to those of us who no longer have the older generation in our lives. They have so much wisdom
Yes. I cried like a baby while watching this. I thought it was going to be a fun video, but here we are. I wish we valued older people more in our society. We tend to throw them away like garbage, we don’t prioritize seeing them, we don’t make it a point to be friends with older people outside of our families, when older people are our MOST valuable resource for wisdom. We all have a LOT to learn from those of us who have been around for 70 or more years.
Same, but I’m 40, no husband or kids. I still have a little hope for kids. I have no extended family or family at all. Life is not worth it without family.
Im sorry you lost your parents. It’s a different life, isn’t it? Im 42 and I also lost both my parents before the age of 40 even. Thank God I also have 3 wonderful kids and a husband who loves me. They make life worth waking up for. Hang in there ❤
I’m not a crier but I shed some tears while listening to the man in the red shirt sitting on the bench 😢 It’s good that we’re able to listen to the words of wisdom. Bless you for creating videos that really make people change their prospective on life❤
after 80 years on this earth.. I can say that there are no such things as regrets. Seeing how each withdrawal impacts the growth of my savings has been a real eye opener. I wish I had understood earlier how essential planning is and how factors like inflation, healthcare costs, and choosing the right investment strategy would play out. If I could talk to my younger self, I'd simply emphasize the importance of planning ahead and making informed decisions and avoid missing out on valuable opportunities
I'm getting close to retirement and having a financial advisor has been benefitial. I started investing later than most, so I couldn't just rely on compound interest from index funds or bonds. Even so, I've done quite well, earning more than some long-term investors. I'm set to retire with at least $6 million
Your financial advisor must be excellent. Could you share how I might get in touch with them? My retirement portfolio has slowly declined, I could really use some guidance.
I avoid giving specific recommendations since everyone's situation is unique, however my experience working closely with Emily Ava Milligan over the years has been exceptional. You might find it worthwhile to see if she aligns with your needs
I read once a proposed reframing for bearing with the loss of your partner. By being the one not dying first, you have saved your partner to go through the suffering you are going yourself through. I thought it was extremely powerful.
I cried hearing him talk about it. My grandfather was pretty lonely I think when my grandma died. They were together around 40 years. He didn’t talk about it much because he was a “tough guy” and very old school, but you could tell. But I don’t think my grandma could bear losing anyone else. It was a gift in a way since my whole life I wasn’t very close to my grandpa, mostly my grandma because he was much I’m more introverted in a sense. When she passed he moved in with us and it gave my mom and I a chance to know him better before he passed a few years later. It gave me a whole new appreciation and love for my grandfather and who he was in my life. I didn’t realize this until after he passed away.
I once saw an interview with Betty Davis. The host asked her “does age bring wisdom”. She quickly snapped back “if you’re stupid when you’re young, you’ll be stupid when you’re old”. 😂
These comments are so sad and not what you are seeing these wiser older people saying. In your old age all you'll have or care about is your family and to a lesser extent other relationships.
I've seen several quotes from Betty Davis. She seemed to have learned nothing that matters from her life. I think Hollywood must destroy and ruin the people who are caught up in it.
Met an old guy walking my dog he looked in 80's he was like me but I was in my 40s no kids, no one close, he told me have a family your regret it, your so called friends will not be there for you in the later years. I got to know John over 17 months before he died and went to his funeral. It was me and his carer it hit me hard and I promised him I'd act on his advice. Today 8 years later I have been lucky and blessed I have a great partner 3 children and a lovely family, my only regret is that I should have not listened to the media, corporations and so called friends and wished I did it sooner. Thank you John for your advice all those years ago.

Fee years ago I almost passed away in the hospital. On my floor I was the youngest one, all elderly people 80+ I had chance to listen and learn about life a lot. Let me tell you something, what a life changer. Listen to the elders, they might save you in critical moments.
@@prerana863 a lot of people wonder why others are and can be so happy while having no money, it's because these people have families and God, the wealth comes secondary, you can't take happiness from people when they have things you can't buy.
What that man said stuck to me. “If you can’t change the noise, focus on something positive and change lives of people for the better that way. “ or something along these lines. It resonated very much with me, because I’m blaming society and system for everything, I always say how you can’t beat the system, because the system is made that way so it’s almost impossible to get around it. But you can influence people around you to be better. And that’s something beautiful in the chaos of this world.
I'm 57 years old & embracing getting old. I have friends in their 80s and I'm taking their lead. They are active socially & have relationships beyond their family. This keeps them going & attentive. Yeah, we can eat better and exercise, but #1 is focusing on relationships. Finding your person to share your life. It's a good feeling. I'm lucky to have found my person 30 years ago. The down side of having a long marriage is that we get to the 'death do us part' and it can be heart breaking.
I haven't been lucky in relationships but friendships are great. So being by myself has been very good I don't feel like I need a partner but financially I work towards making sure I don't leave behind any debts, but if I do find a partner, we shall see.
bullshit The only knowledge they have is knowledge of their own life at a perspective of how they lived through it. Think for yourself and think yourself. In my country old people are the most vulnerable part of society. They are not used to certain threats like social engineering that were not present during their younger days. You get experience and learn everyday and old people loose their ability to learn new things the older they get. The world around you changes every day and you must adapt to it constantly. Most old people either refuse to adapt or fail to do so. They are stubborn and their experience gets dated and useless as time advances.
You are are being to rigid and lack understanding. These people were born in the 1930s when life was much more simple. 99% of humanity before then had no technology. Technology will end just like our time in earth will end.
The video popped to me at the right time. Over the last two years, I kept reading, listening or being affected by the theory of Being Present - Zen. I didn’t truly understand it when I first came across it. Well I only got it on a literal level. Yet recently I find I’ve gradually understood what it means. It’s like: if you’re sniffing the scent of the flowers, just enjoy it. It’s everything in that second.
I wish i were old, near the end... I dont see kids or nieces or nephews in my life, and wonder if i can even make it to 60 to have some government pension and such. I wish a doctor would give me 6 months to live. I'd visit family, curl up on a couch with them. No more bs
@@WaryofExtremes why you do not visit your family and wait for this moment . Take the step and visit cheer up dear and never think this way . Just enjoy the moment . Have your spirituality practiced everyday it would help you a lot.
I'm "only" 60, but I see people around my age falling apart because they sit too much and don't exercise. Walking is a great exercise - brisk walking, not just strolling with the dog. If you can, you should take your body for a walk every day, and lift weights a few times a week. Now the rubber is really hitting the road, and I see the difference between people who have treated their bodies well and those who drugged and drank and overate. Bodies are just machines, after all.
I hear you, but it is a worldwide phenomena. I am in my 40ies... I have been 'sitting' severely ill due to C-vacc!ine injury for 2 years now. I was a perfectly healthy and hugely active woman before that. Millions share the same fate. They may not even know why they suddenly feel so exhausted.
I'm "only" 61, but I'm one of those people who seems so much older😅 Here's what I did wrong: Ignored health concerns since age 18 Believed doctors..."they MUST know!" Put people's needs before my own Stopped doing yoga Stopped learning Karate Stopped walking, dancing, riding bikes Stopped drinking 6 to 8 straight water Etc etc🤦🏽♀️ All I can tell anyone out there is... Make your health... mental, physical, emtional and spiritual... make those your priorities. Put those things at the top of your list. Be good to you. Neglect leads to being a prisoner of bad health within your own body. My aunt lived 101 years old and she had a great nugget of wisdom too. She said "Everything you do or say in this world, good or bad, you always get it back... in a different way, but it always comes back to you! Be kind as much as you can... It means everything." ❤
I've been married for 30 years. I don't know how long I would last without my Wife. Seeing how much pain these guys are in, makes me even more nervous... Time is a clicking clock that never runs in your favour. Hug the one you love often, never argue about pointless stuff. And always tell her you love her everyday....
You're right to be concerned about that possibility. My husband died suddenly in 2018. We were together 32 years, married for most of those years. Loss of husband or wife is absolute agony and its relentless.
Well, lost my wife in '22. We were married 35+ years. No words can fathom the depth of this loss. What did I do right? I invested in my wife and children. For this, I have no regrets. I would say also that I should have made more friends than acquaintances. But what is is.
Believe me, its the worst tragedy, l lost my husband 2 and a half yrs ago, some days l just think why l am still here,. No matter if you have children, they have their own life.
In our history people were heartier, because by the time most of them reached the age of 40 they had already experienced the loss of several children, spouse, parents, farm animals they care for, etc. That kind of heavy loss takes a toll on people but also makes them better people. More humble and honest.
He just happened to pick some of the coolest older folk walking this earth today. What a video. The gentlemen who lost their wives had very emotionally evoking thing to say my goodness.
For real. I lost my family dog, father, and grandma all in the last three years. It is so devastating having to learn how to live without someone, especially when they're so integrated into your life or have never not been in your life. I take comfort knowing I carry on their memories and the things they've taught me. That way they're never truly gone ❤
Touch is important. Touch someone's arm or hand. Give them a light hug. I lost my husband about 12 years ago, and I can count how many hugs I've been given since them. We need touch.
Without touch one almost becomes like infants who lack touch and care. FAILURE TO THRIVE. Give hugs, pats, and kisses. Acknowledge love verbally and physically. A kind word, or act, or hug goes such a long way. It's priceless.
When I watch these videos I feel like I’m an 85 year old travelling back in time to my 30s and realizing I get the chance to live my life again. Thank you.
This one I identify with … I lost my husband three years ago this July 17th 2021 … and it’s so hard! He was 78 and at the time I was 73. Massive heart attack … gone suddenly … to say the least … I was in shock for a year at least! My world was turned upside down! Your feelings don’t die with them … we were married 40 years and I miss him so much! I love your vlog … very enlightening and since I am now 76 … easy to understand their views! Thank You for doing this! You’re helping a lot of people … 🌈🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
For anyone watching this and feeling utterly heartbroken at the loneliness some of these people feel, I'd urge you to give some of your time reaching out to your grandparents, or elderly neighbour's, or give time to your local aged care home. I visit a few residents fortnightly in an aged care facility close to my house and I can't tell you how much I enjoy my visits with them, and they have told me the same. As society we need to do better at giving our time to connect with people so that it's baked in to how we exist as a community.
I made friends with my neighbour who was 85. Or rather, she became friends with me. She was so friendly and invited me over for cup of tea. She must have had self-confidence despite sight and hearing issues. She became such a dear friend to me and my little toddler. I miss her so much. She taught me a lot. She was single after difficult life events. But she still knew how to make friends at her age. I invited her to our family Easter celebration. She felt like a great aunt or something. She liked playing with my daughter. Some people know how to find friendship at any age and stage of life
I never will be lonely because I hate most people. I consider most a burden and get in my way on the subway, etc. Yes it sounds cold but I am glad to be single and living alone in a small city. Such a blessing.
I had some remorse that I wrote a passionate e-mail to colleague last year to share all my beautiful emotions I felt being around him, because he never replied. After that video, NOT ANYMORE ! I’m so proud I did it ! ❤
I want to give every person in this video a hug, I was tearing up listening to this. Older people are far more interesting than young people, honestly.
Find courage to approach random older person in the part or something and ask them same question as in this video. Then you can make somebody random more happy and make a friendship. Just do it?
I'm 45 and female. My advice ro younger people is take care of your health, exercise and eat well. In middle age you will likely have joint pain, bad back, neck, knees or something. So build up your fitness and strength while young to hopefully prevent or delay these issues. Females will lose bone mass with estrogen loss in middle age so do your weight bearing exercise to help prevent bone loss. Also, look up perimenopause and familiarise yourself to the weird symptoms and find a Doctor knowledgeable about menopause and HRT. So many have no clue.
Look after your back, knees, teeth, hair. Accept you have long-term responsibility for your health and finances even if you can't plan beyond 1-2 years into the future. Social anxiety is normal for a large population, so 'dance' with it until you build confidence. 50 year olds still have fears, pains and problems, so get used to the idea that your fears are far more commonplace than you might expect.
@@yiminchen1988remember this kid. Really really look after your body and teeth. 90% of problems occur because of diet. I would say go carnivore but mainly stay away from anything that contains sugar and is processed and any oils that come from plants. Look up oxalate poisoning and heavy metals in chocolate.Lift heavy stuff. Its the cornerstone of manhood. Do this and you will prosper.
Stay away from store bought milk too. Its dead food. Be careful of anything that contains maltodextrin or dextrose(hidden sugars you can find in things like jerky). These foods mentioned here will age you faster than you can say dried fruit ( which is also something you should stay far away from.
“If you know how to channel your creativity, and you let others benefit from it, you’ve defeated age.” “If you live in the past, you’re depressed: if you live in the future, you’re anxious; but if you live in the present, you’re at peace; and you focus on the present” “Everything has a beginning and an end.” “Move with humility and not pride.” “Practice patience, mindfulness and deep breathing….slow down.” Beautiful words of wisdom! I love asking elders for wisdom. ✨‼️
Honestly though, I hear way more people living in the present more miserable than in the past though due to high living expenses. And they’re anxious for the future bc if it’s expensive now, life will just be more expensive later in the future.
These people are so right. I am a 72 year old nurse that chooses to still work, BECAUSE I WANT TO. As long as I can remember, I have had wonder & curiosity. Keep moving, keep exploring. Kindness, empathy. Have a good wholesome code of ethics, be true to yourself, be accountable. Hang out with people that have good, happy personalities, and who are genuinely GOOD. These points of view have served me well. I have been trying to cruise thru life having few regrets; so far no complaints. Thank you for these videos, I REALLY enjoy them.
In my mid 30's with a toddler and a baby, and can say it's the best point of my life so far. Kids add a whole new meaning to life and to the phrase "love at first sight" when you first lay eyes on them. Wouldn't trade this for anything in the world.
Living in the present , being calm, leave the rat race, let those you care about know that you care about them , help out , assist those in need , get 100% out of debt (dont feed the beast by paying interest), pray daily and read from the scriptures, eat right , be acrive , be gratifull, be caring and kind, imagine Jesus the Christ and try to think and act like you imagine he might. Endure to the end .. I'm married to the wife of my youth and the choice of my heart 47 years. Still going strong... knock on wood.. .
I am 60. Being kind, advising others about a career. A few time in my life, I have had people come to me years later and say "you have changed my life" and I do not recollect who they are. Usually a simple thing. I had a co-worker come to me and say he was going into university, because I showed him a program and had him learn it, with my help. The guy ROCKS. I tell him to develop an app and present it and make it different. He has changed a few things because he DID it. I just pointed the direction!
It’s so true what the last lady said, “build meaningful relationships”. I’m 34 and before I met my wife I was lost, dumb and reckless…I met my wife at 31 my life changed towards a better and more structured life style. We gonna have our first kid in December.
I just turned 70 and retired over 2 years ago. I have felt lost with no sense of purpose. The new president of the company I had worked for asked me to come back, which I did. It has been great the second time around. I am much better at my job now than ever before. I plan to be more prepared the next time I retire.
I literally cannot comprehend something like this. There is soooooooo much to do in a house! And soooo much to learn, so many books to read, movies to watch, languages to learn, cities and countries to visit. But even just running a home! Cooking every meal, cleaning, gardening……. How do have the time to do all that while working?
@@nataliaalfonso2662I think working outside of the home allows someone to complete objectives. The home always has work to be done. It doesn’t feel like something was accomplished.
What I see as the common denominator with these people is that he runs into them when they are OUTSIDE. WALKING. Hello! They are vital, vibrant, and, literally, getting out there. They, for the most part, have taken good care of themselves. They are dressed well, because they respect themselves and the people they might run into. Good, no, GREAT examples for all of us. As far as eating alone, you don't need to. Call a friend. Start a dinner or lunch club. Here in small-town Indiana every fast-food joint has a group of seniors eating breakfast every day. In a big city it should be even easier to connect. Regards from Indiana!
I was nodding to your comment until this "They are dressed well, because they respect themselves and the people they might run into" I get the part about dressing well out of respect to themselves... but to the people they might run into? What does that even mean? Are you saying that because they're old and covering most of their body? Or do you genuinely think everyone should dress like that? Anyway, I'll never dress myself for others. Even if I'm covered from head to toe in nice clothes, I'll only wear what feels comfortable to ME, never to please others.
"If you live in the past, you are depressed. If you live in the future, you are anxious. If you live in the present, you are at peace". That was one of the best advice I have heard in a long time. That phrase could've come from Seneca. Great video!
I wish i were old, near the end... I dont see kids or nieces or nephews in my life, and wonder if i can even make it to 60 to have some government pension and such. I wish a doctor would give me 6 months to live. I'd visit family, curl up on a couch with them. No more bs
7:46 the message really spoke to me ❤ I got tired of looking and waiting to be in relationship then I gave up! Because people focus on short term relationships rather than long term relationships over here. Finding the “one” is like winning a lottery and being together for the next 20+ years is a blessing
I’m so afraid of finding someone I truly love that I’m settling with who I’m with because I could bear losing him. But I couldn’t bear losing a best friend or soul mate. I realize he doesn’t deserve that and am thinking of being on my own. (He’s not innocent. After 7 years he decided he didn’t want to marry or have kids, now it’s 10 years with him and I’m 37. Feel like my best years were wasted.)
Because people are greedy these days and expect perfection. Just because a couple has been together for 60 years doesn’t mean it’s been roses the entire time. They may have gone through a million ups and downs, but it’s about perseverance and the ability to fall back in love again. And the commitment you make to one another to always make it work.
@@Sarah-ft8jr I don't think it's fair to say people expect perfection. I've never expected perfection in any of my relationships. I've been cheated on, physically and sexually abused, stolen from, etc. There are some seriously bad people out there and many of us encounter them when trying to have relationships. Not everyone is single because they're too picky. I'd love to meet a nice, kind, normal man but it has never happened for me.
My mother is living with my grandmother when she is 70 right now, and my grandmother still treats her like a child and takes care of my mother in her best way.I can tell how happy my mom is.
“You know exactly what you should be knowing at this point in your life. You can’t say what you should’ve known and been better at. You can only do, what you can do! You’ll make yourself miserable thinking that you’re not keeping up to what you should be” 7:08
My grandmother lived to be 93 and my grandfather 92. They were both very different people. He stayed busy, he was a woodworker and owned his own contracting business. When his wife passed (not my grandma) I think was the first time he dealt with true depression and he was sad until he passed. My grandma was a smoker her whole life and did her crossword puzzles and watched tv. But her attitude was always happy and looked on the bright side of life. She was always one to make a joke, make you smile. Life is strange. You never know how it will unfold.
"Grief is the price we pay for love." Queen Elizabeth. It's a privilege to grieve, and we sometimes forget this. It means that you loved so deeply that it's impact will forever be with you. Remember those who are gone with a smile and warm thoughts. Forgive any and all mistakes. Keep them alive through stories shared with people whom you care about. Above all.... keep living your life. You know that's what they would want you to do....so do it.
What comment resonates with me is the lady who said not to be full of empty pride about your physical and intellectual accomplishments. I find that so true. To me, the greatest accomplishment of my life was caring for my mother and overseeing her affairs for 4 years, of which a portion was during COVID. Just to keep her at home and reduce the risk of her getting COVID to me was part of this accomplishment. She died peacefully under hospice in her home in late 2021. Once she passed and my sibling and I cleared her house and got it sold (both of us could not take on the responsibility and we had to borrow some of the equity from the home to pay for medial expenses) everything I had done before seemed very small or just pleasant and satisfying but not as large an accomplishment as I had thought. To be the best expression of love is to care dearly for the person who cared lovingly for you. Thoughts from a 58 year old who has already lost in the past 14 years his youngest brother (suicide) and parents (both metastatic cancer).
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail. Not one of them said "have kids" instead they said LIVE YOUR LIFE and LOVE (summarizing) that was so inspiring
I disagree. My children are the crown achievement in my life. They bring so much love and happiness in my life. I wouldn't trade them for all the notoriety, money, or possessions in this life. It is the most pure love on the planet. A special bond. I do not regret being a mother.
I am literally in tears and I am only three minutes in. 😢 I just set an alarm to call my great aunt this afternoon. My great uncle died about eight months and they were married for 52 years. ❤
They hide their grief well. Once you loose a chosen partner you love there is a sadness wnich never leaves. This video brought me to tears. The memory never fades, the love does not diminish. Just eats your emotion.
I'm 64 and have lived a good life so far. These interviews remind me of what is valuable to me. I've learned what it is to be a friend, a good friend. I've learned to take part in my community through volunteer work. This takes effort, effort to maintain relationships that can see you enjoy life through the years ahead. I really appreciate what you are doing Sprouht as you learn and pass on this knowledge.

@@MrPathorock No it isn't. It is about life, love and loss. That's life. You missed the point.

We are in our 50s with nearly $3M saved, no debt and $50K annual spending. But we avoid the stock market completely.
No one likes market risk, but without longer retirement, taking on risk is often a necessary evil to compensate for inflation.

Holy shit, why am I crying so much. Imagine finding a life partner that speaks so well about you even after you’re gone
Since then my mental health suffered a lot … I was diagnosed being a dyslexic child at school … according to state schools it’s a disability but I heard in the upper class there are boarding school in the U.K. that can help u to achieve ur full potential … not that my ma could have taken me there as a kid cos she was a single parent looking after 2 kids at the time … when my parents passed away … my ma was then diagnosed with cancer for almost 27 years of her life …
Dyslexia kids just think very differently… there minds are programmed a different way into seeing the world very differently….
When I look at these people crying …. It reminds me of me of my deep wounds that caused a lot of pain at childhood … I know how it feels … I miss my parents a lot … but I know there not gone .. I believe in miracles…. I pray 🙏🏼 for these people too
When ur family leave u n go from this world … life does get so lonely… I’m just grateful that I live in my mama n papa house ( the house they got married in) and I feel safe knowing they protect me ….
My life full of challenges… at this point I’m trying to secure a permanent job working with send kids …. And I dunno what other challenges life has in store for me
But love is real … I seen it with my parents … and I NEVR got married .. because I never found true love.. and I realised it was because true love doesn’t exist anymore
But the fact that I live in ma n papa home… I found true love in my house alone of loving myself …. I don’t have a disability… I’m just a person who see the world differently
I love my parents a lot … I don’t want to b rich or famous or have wealth or power… I just want my parents back 😢

31 and you're already a doctor?

( most likely you were a shitty parent, if the kids turn out crap)
And if you have no kids, then you will be garanted alone in your old days, so having kids and raisig them right is the best insurance for every aspect of life.
Its silly.
I like how that guy said if you are still creative and benefiting someone
Then you are not aging
Love that
Weight shouldnt affect Ur social life. Dont let ur self confidence influence by this. But in Terms of Ur health i agree.

"What would you tell to your younger self?" "No! Everything was perfect. It led me to my present self." Wisest woman in this presentation. Perfect advice.

@@KaizenOz It certainly better than all those "make children" , "make a family" crap.
The man in the orange polo, my heart goes out to him because I can feel his grief is still very raw. I pray that he will find healing and peace.
I'm sorry for your loss❤❤ You know you are loved because they are always with you. ❤❤
Wow, I could have written this. Early 40s, lost parents, and no extended family. But 3 amazing kids and husband. So, SAME ❤

I looked for her name online and found her page. I emailed and made enquiries. Thanks for the help
You are not alone
I read once a proposed reframing for bearing with the loss of your partner. By being the one not dying first, you have saved your partner to go through the suffering you are going yourself through. I thought it was extremely powerful.
Frankl.

Please, don't stop doing this, your videos helped me through dark times. Bless your heart and thank you!
Hey Deb- I hope you're doing great!
I once saw an interview with Betty Davis. The host asked her “does age bring wisdom”. She quickly snapped back “if you’re stupid when you’re young, you’ll be stupid when you’re old”. 😂
@FtnastI completely agree. It’s incredibly immoral.

What that man said stuck to me. “If you can’t change the noise, focus on something positive and change lives of people for the better that way. “ or something along these lines.
You can appear and feel I 0-20 year difference if you control yourself and don't do excess.
so all you do is relationships ?
I haven't been lucky in relationships but friendships are great. So being by myself has been very good I don't feel like I need a partner but financially I work towards making sure I don't leave behind any debts, but if I do find a partner, we shall see.
The older generations are the greatest untapped source of knowledge and wisdom.
They've always been. But it is often the case that they will be considered by the younger generation to be quaint.
It has always been.
bullshit
The only knowledge they have is knowledge of their own life at a perspective of how they lived through it.

Perfectly said 🙏🏾
true, I’m a little older, but walking the dog, yoga & sitting on the floor a lot (because you have to be able to get up) do not hurt
I hear you, but it is a worldwide phenomena. I am in my 40ies... I have been 'sitting' severely ill due to C-vacc!ine injury for 2 years now. I was a perfectly healthy and hugely active woman before that. Millions share the same fate. They may not even know why they suddenly feel so exhausted.
today i just realized brisk walk is a speed version of the normal walk !
I'm "only" 61, but I'm one of those people who seems so much older😅 Here's what I did wrong:
Ignored health concerns since age 18
Believed doctors..."they MUST know!"
Put people's needs before my own
Stopped doing yoga
Stopped learning Karate
Stopped walking, dancing, riding bikes
Stopped drinking 6 to 8 straight water
Etc etc🤦🏽♀️
All I can tell anyone out there is...
If you think about the future, you’re anxious. It was documented in this video.
Just enjoy the present dude
Well, lost my wife in '22. We were married 35+ years. No words can fathom the depth of this loss.
What did I do right? I invested in my wife and children. For this, I have no regrets. I would say also that I should have made more friends than acquaintances. But what is is.
Believe me, its the worst tragedy, l lost my husband 2 and a half yrs ago, some days l just think why l am still here,. No matter if you have children, they have their own life.
Many people never get married, have a companion, share a life.
That doesn’t lessen the loss but hopefully you can be grateful for what you had.
In our history people were heartier, because by the time most of them reached the age of 40 they had already experienced the loss of several children, spouse, parents, farm animals they care for, etc. That kind of heavy loss takes a toll on people but also makes them better people. More humble and honest.

Good advice, actually and timeless as well.
I'm 47 and thank you for this!

Stay away from store bought milk too. Its dead food. Be careful of anything that contains maltodextrin or dextrose(hidden sugars you can find in things like jerky). These foods mentioned here will age you faster than you can say dried fruit ( which is also something you should stay far away from.

Usually a simple thing. I had a co-worker come to me and say he was going into university, because I showed him a program and had him learn it, with my help. The guy ROCKS. I tell him to develop an app and present it and make it different. He has changed a few things because he DID it. I just pointed the direction!
Thank you for giving the senior generation a voice!! ❤ I am crying hearing their words, it's heartbreaking! Thank you!
I'm glad. Working because you want to work is liberating.
Glad it's working for you!
@@nataliaalfonso2662 agreed. I can’t wait to retire so I can actually pursue my hobbies! I have 20 years to go 😔

Brilliant. Add -- doing the best.
What is doing the best for the other person?

Great point man. I’m from NYC and we really are all on top of each other with no real connections
So true about getting outside!!!!
I was nodding to your comment until this "They are dressed well, because they respect themselves and the people they might run into"
I get the part about dressing well out of respect to themselves... but to the people they might run into?
It's so beautiful to see people that have or had long loving relationships! I think that's the hardest thing to find today : (
Because people are greedy these days and expect perfection.
My mother is living with my grandmother when she is 70
right now, and my grandmother still treats her like a child and takes care of my mother in her best way.I can tell how happy my mom is.
Bless those old people with love, health and happiness. Their advice is gold.
You sound like me. Helping my mom in her last years was absolutely my favorite thing I ever got to do.
😢loss is hard, everything else is just background noise. Very wise people great video. I made that call 🥰
I clicked on this video because of the thumbnail. Not one of them said "have kids" instead they said LIVE YOUR LIFE and LOVE (summarizing) that was so inspiring
Having kids is tiresome and taxing. Kids are toxic.
I disagree. My children are the crown achievement in my life. They bring so much love and happiness in my life. I wouldn't trade them for all the notoriety, money, or possessions in this life. It is the most pure love on the planet. A special bond. I do not regret being a mother.
thats great! Im happy for you! Some people donr feel this way about being a parent or the prospect of becoming a parent.
What an incredible group of people and so generous to share their wisdom. Your ‘time out’ was very thoughtful, Will!
“Find something positive you can do and affect other people. My expression is: I aspire to inspire” ❤ good one
