  • This lesson is all about the ribs: how to free them and how to make them more flexible. How we use our ribs affects every movement that we do. When the ribs are more available for movement nearly everything we do is improved from walking, reaching and balancing. I hope you enjoy the lesson as much as my students in Rutland did.

    This morning I tried Breathing teaching, the third program, each day as I try to the different video, I begin to understand and explore how my body should move. My height is 1.5cm shorter than before. I feel this morning, after breathing lesson, my height is stretched as before. I’m not sure if I could do this lesson as you teach, but my body and my feeling are delighted. Never, ever I had such a curious lesson this morning. I am grateful to you.

    Thanks Stewart that was amazing. As a beginner classical singer, i need as flexible ribs as possible. I can belly breath easily, but my ribs really are a cage. That lesson gave be big differences and my neck rolls like a marble at the end. Wish you did evening group classes, i work during day. Keep up the great work!

    I felt this morning, my left side is shorter than right side. I’m not sure. When I lay down, back side up, as I stretch my arm, it was much more challenging than the right side. When it was over, my neck was smoother and lower part of spine sat more into the mat. In the afternoon, it was raining very hard. I like to be in the forest in the rain. Happy to listen to the rain, wind, bards, trees, flowers I like everything in the rain. I put very pure air into the right side and then to the left side. It takes much time to learn. Thank you for your lesson today.

      @@stewarthamblin Thank you for your message. Every day I found something new. I remember that I had serious problem in my neck and shoulder. I was checked by a specialist. I was measured. I put 10kg more weight on the left leg side than the other! I used have my shoulder bag on the right shoulder! You are write-handed. It seems nothing, but. More and more interesting! Now I am going to the forest, bright day today.
      We have ten days holidays from yesterday. This morning I learned two pelvis movements at last, first time in my life! Have a nice weekend!

    Thank you for your comment yesterday. I feel very, a very new day after the lesson. I have to listen to you carefully the same English, then your words become more better movement. The last part of my life becoming better by your teaching Breathing. Recently, my recommend page of TH-cam page shows many your channels and others. The day before yesterday it came up a professional guitarist, he got a serious dystopia. He is now a guitarlist again after ten years of Feldenkrais method. Now he is a Practitioner also, especially for musicians. As you said, impossible possible. I am very lucky to learn by your TH-cam school every day. I can breath with little more better Breathing this morning, morning after morning. Thank you.

      @@stewarthamblin I din’t know anything about Feldenkrais method. It is more than interesting. I read about Feldenkrais in Japanese two Practitioners, one is guitarist and the other is a pianist she is teaching children especially for function problem. He who is a gitarist has inspired by THE ELUSIVE OBVIOUS. Judo, Aikido, Karate, other traditional learning are interesting. Thank you so much Karlicia. I love to hear where people are in the world. In many ways you have discovered what the Method is about. Rather than thinking of the neck as being just the top 7 vertebrae you have begun to think of the neck as including the whole of the spine, ribs and pelvis. Stay safe. Stewart

    How lovely to back to the morning lesson! It took 8 days to find correct words and meaning you use often. Guessing and imagination make big mistakes with me. It is difficult without necessary efforts to understand your explanation. I was searching for informations and meanings in Japanese to follow your lessons better. For example, in breathing lesson, I heard often Oslo, IKEA,,, from you, why? but it was nostril, trachea! Now I feel more free to understand you. This morning my chest has bigger space and heavier weight on the floor after the lesson! Have a good night rest!

    I am 57 years old and I herniated my L4 disc 2 years ago and have gone through many changes with my pelvis, low back all the way up to my neck and head. All of my previous injuries (mid back, shoulders, neck) in life became amplified and I have been on a search for different techniques to help me. Recently my midback and ribs decided to lock up after a long day. I worked through this lesson and it really helped me to free up my ribs using movement and breathing. Stuart which lessons do you recommend I work through and how often for my entire body. I know it's a tall order. Thanks.

    • @stewarthamblin

      Hi Andrea, the fact that you are becoming aware of this habit is the secret to change. Once you are aware of something then you then have a choice. Be patient with yourself and kind. When you notice the habit arising take a good deep inhalation and see if you can let go and do something different.

    Thank you Stewart! I like your lessons and explanation of the movements very much.
    As you mention in this video the lessons do go a little too fast to fully enjoy and explore some of the movements. I have been trying to figure out how to use my MacBook Voice Control feature to start and stop the lessons so I can pause and explore each movement fully prior to the next direction.
    I haven't found a way to use Voice Control to play and pause TH-cam. Do you know of a way?

    • @stewarthamblin
      @stewarthamblin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for your comments. Its always a dilemma I have how to pace the videos so as to make them not too long. I am not familiar with Voice Control. In fact I am such a Luddite that I didn't even know that existed! I do know that some students have been using their bluetooth ear buds as they go throw the lessons and the ear buds have a pause button that can be used. Please do let me know if you find the answer.

      @@stewarthamblin Sure. When a person really understands the learning potentials and pleasure of these explorations everyone would have a unique pace of exploration, so I don't imagine there could be any pace that will fit everyone.
