    I feel that your explanations are an important part of "embodying" the movement, through the integration of cognitive understanding of what we are asking the body to do. Something "clicks" once you "get" it! Thank you once again, Stewart!! So grateful for your depth of understanding and your teaching style.

    First of all I'd like to say that I appreciate that you don't have advertisements interrupting your lessons.Thank you. And in this lesson, I particularly enjoyed the explanations of what is happening with the muscles and the body. I'm fascinated with Feldenkrais's approach to movement and the possibility of understanding how I can support freer movement through awareness.

    Another great lesson Stewart, thanks so much for sharing. When are you going to release a new video? Your lessons are the best. Despite being hyper-mobile, I'm still locked a bit around my ribs, but had so much general relief in back and rib area. I've had to change to a flatter pillow which means turning from my back to my side is easier (less pain in ribs). Thanks again.

      @@ImpulsoCreativo9322 Hi Andrea, it is hard to correct. For me, I remember taking something very 'simple' such as getting up and down from the floor or in and out of a chair and slowing it down to see if I could catch the moments when I was pulling my head forward. Then really pausing to check that I was breathing, backing off and trying again. I will try and cover this in a video.

      One more question Stewart. . . I have anxiety and bad habits of always contracting the abs. If there is contraction work in this video, I shouldn't do it. Just wondering if there is "contracting abs" in this video?? I Need to work on postural strength/abs used in a functional way where they are lengthened and holding me up. Not contracting! Thanks.

    Really appreciate the explanations, Stewart. What happened for me in doing the lesson was the opposite of what you suggested might happen, i.e. resting on my back after the lesson the space (arch) between my lower back and the ground was noticeably greater than it had been before the lesson. My back was almost flat to the ground at the beginning of the lesson and very arched at the end. Any ideas why that might be?

    • @stewarthamblin
      @stewarthamblin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a little difficult to say without seeing you but I suspect your back muscles re-sent to a more neutral position. If you were very flat at the beginning it might be because you were already quite engaged in the abdominals meaning that your low back muscles were already lengthened. The different variations would have asked your abs to work a little more congruently - on and off - giving your low back muscles the opportunity to find their more neutral length. Quite a few people have a postural flat back (I tend to have a flatter curve in my thoracic area, others in the lumbar area). Quite often the curves will return after a lesson as the muscles begin to work together. It's one of the ways we work with a scoliosis. Rather than trying to 'fight' the scoliosis we go further into it, to take over the work of the system so that it begins to let go and then once that happens we begin to come away from it. I am not sure this is the answer but it's may be.
