Today I'll be attempting to get the Ethan Never Dies achievement for completing Ethan Must Die Mode in Resident Evil 7. This remix of the Baker estate was probably designed by Jigsaw himself, so watch as I try my best (and fail) at not getting sent back to the beginning again.

Not using a walkthrough for this was definitely the way to go imo. I found it very fun to figure out all of the best ways to tackle a room organically and in doing so, I felt like a true Sherlock Holmes. Speaking of which, I desperately need some sort of crime show to watch. I really haven't delved into the realm of crime dramas so any recommendations are welcome. Unless your recommendations suck, then that's a different story altogether lmao.

Ethan Must Die is my favorite mode out of all of RE7's DLC, love it!
Watching the runs is enjoyable sure, but watching this dude go for the hardest achievements over and over and still manage to not get tilted is what keeps me coming back

Its been a long time since I played Ethan must die mode, but hearing that game over music just brought back hours and hours of ptsd style horror memories that I had kept bottled up and festering inside for years 👍

@@rudyhernandez4962 it's not too bad once you learn where all the traps are at. But what makes it harder a single mistake can cost you or not having the right weapons towards the end.

Oh boy this one was uh, certainly something. The main problem I had with this achievement wasn’t the insane difficulty and bs rng. It was the fact I had played it way too many times to the point that I would mess up the easy parts even knowing the exact layout and understanding what good item drops were in that particular run i’d die to the stupidest thing ever. Eventually got it and mad respect being able to have gotten this one bro.

when you get very frustrated at a game, you should just sleep on it and play it later, or maybe even the next day. Worked for me with countless boss fights and levels

The 'Ethan must die' difficulty is a nice play/reference to the 'Dante must die' difficulty from the Devil may cry series.
I have beat dmd mode in the og DMC 5 and doing it again on the special edition is making me insane probably because im avoiding secret missions cuz I don't remember where most of them are and don't want to look them up right now rip my sanity
@@maddogmajimaswifey3868 yeah, I get what you mean. Attempting to beat the entirety of any Dmc game on DMD is a chore if you don't know what you're doing or refuse outside help for the run.

@@DecaThr0n Tried DMD and I think I got stuck in chapter 7, those goddamn lizards are the worst in higher difficulties, those bros tank attacks and one attack takes like half your healthbar. It's easy with Dante just spamming trickster and swordmaster with the bikes, but Nero is well.. oof I suffered so much that I uninstalled the game lmao.

I won't lie, watching my friend Brent play this game on the highest difficulty for the platinum was a hilarious experience. The memory I remember best was when he got hit by an explosion which knocked him back into a room where he fell on top of another explosive. He went from "I'M ALIVE!" to "Ah shit!" the moment he saw the tripwire above him

tbf i think the remakes wouldve done that just fine. i hated re7 without having known much about resident evil, so u cant say its a nostalgia thing loll. re8 was better but i just didnt like the mold idea/the vampires being flies ??

I remember some years ago, my boyfriend was trying to beat Ethan Must Die mode, and on a whim, I decided to watch him over Discord. And he basically first-tried it, and ever since, I've been a good luck charm for games. Good memories.
A tip for anybody attempting this from somebody who’s beaten it, USE THE BURNER! It’s easily the most useless weapon in the game, but it can destroy traps and most importantly boxes from a safe distance so you don’t have to risk your life destroying them or wasting time listening to them
I knew you were going to walk into the trip wire bc of how well it was going but I still felt my heart sink when you walked into it.
Fun fact you can block bomb traps and survive

RE6 is definitely fun if you play with a friend to laugh everything off. I played the first 2 campaigns with my sister and not only did we have some good laughs, but we also found a new inside joke.
I do agree if u take all the bad and have fun with it especially with a friend it's a very enjoyable game

I achieved this recently and I think I died almost 80 something times until I just had the luckiest RNG. Definitely a fun dlc if you like challenges!
One great detail not mentioned in the video is the sound of someone getting gunned down by the turrets isn’t just some guy. It’s Jack Baker. Not only is this an utterly hilarious bait and switch, but when I reached this point in my playthrough, I was struck with genuine fear that my next obstacle was strong enough to kill hillbilly man.
The first time I completed this mode the achievement didn't pop. I even emailed Capcom and Xbox to let them know, they gave me the run around "wait a day or two". Two days later it still hadn't popped and I begrudgingly began my journey again. Upon my second completion I was moments away from losing my shit when it finally popped. I audibly screamed.
7 was a masterpiece. Still hoping the series can come back to that tone and style some day.
Also lovin' the videos man. Keep it up and congrats on beating possibly the hardest bonus mode in any game.
Kinda hope this game gets a remaster with how far their RE Engine has progressed, visually. Some of the graphics of this game are definitely aging quickly. Mostly in regards to facial animations and hair texture.

Oh god I remember this mode! It was awful but doing it was one of the most satisfying achievements I’ve ever done!
I had to watch a walk through video and memorise a route to perfection. That meant every single swing of the knife, every block, every step forward and backward pretty much meant instant death.
Tip for crates: You can tell if it’s a good or bad one by how much tape is on it if there’s only tape on the bottom part it’s a trap if it’s tape on both the bottom and top it’s a good one
While Ethan Never Dies is a very tough achievement, at least the game mode is fun. I think the achievements for their version of blackjack is not only ruthless, but it’s just pure tension the entire time, requiring a great amount of luck, even if you know what you’re doing

And hoo boy! Having to replay it after years because of the PS5 upgrade was a nostalgia trip.
I mostly loved the RNG of the runs making it different. However, when trying to speedrun it has a painful set up. You need to get you favorite item and then “commit sudoku” to get the item back from your grave (aka you minimize the RNG).
Your dedication and calmness on the surface is insane, huge respect 😂

I've gotten every main game achievement 3 separate times, but I've never actually even attempted Ethan Must Die
No better time to start than now!
I love this mode. RE7 was my first RE and it's still my personal favorite top to bottom, and this game mode is honestly one of my favorites out of the franchise
I remember getting this and having a strange amount of fun doing it. At least until a point. I think it was around when I got to the kitchen where you start the main game that my will to live just completely shattered. I feel like this game mode could have made for a series of slightly shorter and more concise levels as opposed to a massively sprawling one like this. Just so much frustration in getting near the end and screwing up. Congrats on the achievement!

Oh lord I remember doing this. The touchdown celebration dance I did when I beat included accidentally throwing my controller across the room. The dance of anger every time I died also included doing so. 😭
I honestly now want to get RE7 and try this out, I like a good randomized challenge!

This mode was a nightmare for me, and the only thing I remember of my winning attempt was I had a lot of defense things and I was hiding in a corner while the boss was falling on all the traps off screen

Yeah, I got this one. It took a few goes. There's a lot of luck in it. It's all about using the traps. You can Lure Margarit into an area where she gets pepppered by turrets if you're low on weapons. HOWEVER, this isn't really that tough. It's VERY do-able. If you want a real challenge, try and beat the 'Joe Must Die' scenario in the DLC. I've done it, but it was a pig to do. REALLY difficult.

This is legit one of my favorite super hard achievements I've gotten. It's the right balance of execution toughness, luck, and route knowledge. Very fun challenge mode, I could probably pop back in and get to Margaret in a few tries because I've memorized it so deeply.
Hopefully this channel grows a lot. Dude makes some quality videos and if he can keep dropping them closer to once a week like this he'll get views.

I'm going to tell you right now Sam that checking the boxes for checking sounds is not one of your chats strategies they just stole it from the speed run guide crouching under the tripwire as a given and the beehive at the bottom of the stairs takes at least like five knife swings and you have enough time to destroy it before the first molded comes downstairs
Dude this mode took me a very long time of many tries to finally beat it, and once I did I was so very happy 😁! Shits hard as hell, Ethan definitely died a hell of a lot for me lol.
The stopping to stab every dead/downed enemy you see, just to make sure it’s dead, was so very relatable. 😭

I should try for it again, it’s honestly a pretty fun mode, reaching new parts of the house for the first time always felt pretty rewarding. I think my best was getting to the final fight but I was never able to actually beat her, was fun attempting it though!

So I actually beat this mode and god it took me a long time. A portion of it hinges on luck with the loot drops and on the AI. However, as soon as I finished it in my video... I wanted to play it again? Also tip: Get the Survival Knife. It is super handy to kill molded. Also, also the bomb boxes only have one strand of tape, and have a ticking sound. Also, also, also you can duck under trip wires

I'm actually the world record holder for the speedrun of Ethan Must Die so I put in the most hours than anyone in it, but i love watching your reactions and your thinking strategy, I just wished that they made maybe 1 more "track" or 2 more. Would be cool, maybe a Lucas Barn Ethan Must Die map or the marge house or even the ship version.

I got this achievement when the game first came out. Got every single one. This one took over 100 tries to beat. It was super hard!!

One tricked I used to beat this was doors. You can push them open just a little bit to shoot or knife the enemy and they can't hurt you. I would even run back to a door and to lure them for an easy kill. Just be careful not to open the door too much.

I actually managed to do this in 3 tries. I lucked out on some serious equipment upgrades. Even so, all I had left was 8 flamer fuel. I would have died if she did not trigger a wire mine.

I actually had more trouble with the traps than any of the enemies, after the main traps it was surprisingly easy for me

All the dlc hard modes make me wanna die. Those are pretty much the only achievements I have yet. I think capcom was in a sadism mood with these ones.
Definitely. RE7 is probably the hardest RE game in recent times, RE3 Inferno in a close second. Although they're both incredibly satisfying and fun to play.
