A tip for anyone trying this run. If you want to disarm the rotation bombs to get the much needed trap parts but are struggling with the tiny margin, try not watching the dial go round, instead stare right in the centre dot and let your peripheral track when to stop it. Not perfect but I got way more with this technique, couldn’t get any before. Hope this helps anyone who might need it!
Absolutely, every time I did manage to get it, the needle would always land in the centre or on the very edge of just missing it, never in a random part of the margin which felt very intentional. Like they wanted to make you think you hadn't got it for a sec

I finished Akumu mode on the PS4 version of The Evil Within back in 2017 and....yeah it’s insane. ESPECIALLY the final boss (which I believe took me 5-6 hours to beat). I’m just glad that more people are talking about The Evil Within tho I love this game.
How did you struggle that badly on the final boss? The only difference on Akumu is that you need to hit him with more rockets and you need to shoot Ruvik almost instantly when he opens his mouth.
So something really funny about Chapter 6 when I attempted Akumu mode….in your playthrough Joseph gave you literal hell by dying all the time and was probably a real thorn in your side, but my experience was the exact OPPOSITE. Not only did Joseph finally learn how to balance on a plank, but he also interrupted the enemies kill animations when I got grabbed; he SAVED my ass multiple times from a restart! If only your Joseph wasn’t a walking hazard sign in this run lol

Well done Snam, you're truly a King for pushing through some of the most torturous difficulties, and modes in these games; whether for our entertainment, your some sort of masochistic languishing, or a mixture of the above - we thank, and applaud you. Another job well done. I also personally appreciate your ability to cut down a 21hr run in to 37 -much easier consumable- minutes.
Yeah, they just turn the game into complete trial and error. Imo, the mode would actually be fun and rewarding if it wasn't for those stupid fucking bear traps. In a mode where any damage kills you, having nearly invisible instakill traps everywhere is imo just bad game design.
Just beat Akumu yesterday. It feels horribly unfair at times but the satisfaction of clearing a stage just with your game knowledge and big brain use of the environment is goddamn satisfying. This proves how great the level design is in this game
I did this achievement about a year ago and almost lost my mind. Since this is my favorite game I felt obliged to 100% it and it was totally worth the experience. I had to reset at chapter 11 because I got soft locked since I didn’t have enough ammo, but it was still fun to see how fast I got back. Seriously hope they make a 3rd game
The game can even soft lock you just because you don’t have enough Ammo? That’s kinda agonizing and demotivating to read, I was gonna try this achievement but fuck this if there‘s a chance of being soft locked at the very end of the game
@@Avyrr Somewhat. In lower difficulties, you can always scrounge by or trade a hit to skip sections. In AKUMU, since it's all one-shot kills, you don't have that luxury, and knowing when to save ammo and when to dump ammo is mission critical, the same reason you constantly have to risk disarming traps to craft xbow ammo. Thankfully, the Akumu mode means you can save a lot of XP on useless upgrades (Like damage reduction, health buffs, health regen) coz it's never going to matter, so usually you dump that XP on xbow upgrades, pistol crits, stamina and match capacity. Still, I would not play AKUMU mode because one-hit kills in a game pisses me off, and there's already plenty of it in TEW1 to begin with.
@@thomasgulley305 I used to struggle on that fight it was super fun though, but the I saw this guy placing 5 or 6 explosive bolts between where the keepers spawn so that they explode as they are walking towards you if they survive that you put 1 to 2 pistol shots on them and poof, the fight is done lol
Beat this mode 3 separate times and I remember all too well getting bodied by a flailing elbow or a shin kick. You think you you have the upper hand because the enemy is on the ground and you have matches on the ready. Match is lit and….WTF??? HOW AM I DEAD??? Dude on the ground started flailing out of nowhere and his temper tantrum killed you. Great memories
I haven’t gotten every achievement in this one, but i have in evil within 2. The “you asked for it again” is the most rage inducing, brutal achievement i have ever attempted and completed while also getting all weapons and collectables throughout. It took me 2 and a half months to do it.
I found evil within 2 more Achievable, evil within has some really hard achievements like beating the game at a certain time, or killing enemies with different bows which for some reason doesn’t register with me
If you thought it was the most difficult thing you've ever done in a video game, you can't even imagine with the first title, the difficulty, unlike 2, is too noticeable
Did this achievement a couple of years back. It was a pain in the ass at a couple of points, but man oh man.. when that achievement popped, nothing can compare to that feeling. Well, except perhaps the Hard To The Core achievement in Dead Space 2...

I never said that the Hard To The Core achievement is hard, but it is a pain in the ass since you only got 3 saves and Dead Space 2 is a pretty long game.. and since there are tons of instant death bullshit sequenses in it it makes it nerve-racking. At least if you haven't played the game for a couple of years and you try to do the achievement - which I did.
Man Joseph was so tilting in this game. Funniest thing about watching this is how anti-climactic the death animations when you die from a little hit / stray bullet, had me in stitches
I love that this channel focuses on the 5-ish % of completion trophies rather than those 0.5-ish %. I feel like a lot of games reach low % by asking players for weird grind rather than a fun challenge like this.
Its so nice to see your channel grow more and more with each video, my first video of yours was the Dead Space video. Hit me in the feels, the first game i beat on the hardest difficulty was Dead Space 2 Hardcore, and it was nice to see someone else do it and experience it for the first time! Can't wait to see your future content!
This brings back memories, but the extra challenge on top of Akumu for me was that there was something about the combination of frame-rate, motion and lighting that would bring on a nauseous headache more often than not. Still never figured out exactly what thing caused it, I tried changing graphics settings, TV settings, everything, but it was a constant thing. I've never had it with any other game before or since.
The Evil Within is infamous for its poorly optimized console ports. There's really no excuse for such poor performance either, the game shouldn't be more demanding than Arkham Knight which runs great on console.
Dmitry is right. It's not the consoles that, it's the absolutely mediocre optimization of the evil within. The company never bothered fixing it which makes playing through the first game an absolute chore.

Pro Tip for The Masochists out there who are actually tempted to try this themselves : The Freeze Bolts on The Warden Crossbow can also freeze the tripwire bombs if I remember correctly. It's basically a trade off, one freeze bolt for some parts. But if you're in a pinch and cannot afford anymore mistakes, there's always a costly get out of trap free card at your disposal. Just remember to conserve your ammo though...
This was one of the games I platinum this year. Akumu mode is no joke. Had 89 deaths after I was done. Another tip to make chapter 6 a little bit easier is definitely try to upgrade your flash bolts to at least level 5. Gives you some breathing room without wasting up too much ammo
The first portion of chapter 6 took me 2 days to complete I would literally sit in class and just think of different ways to beat the level. One of the few games I'm truly proud of platinuming.
This achievement was roughh. I helped a friend do this one and he had trouble for a few days with the burning building with Joseoh and the locks. I completed it while he was in the shower and when he came out he freaked! Finishing it was very rewarding though. It was always funny how even the littlest tap kills you at full health. The crossbow flash bolts were our saving grace.
Love this guy. He got so crazy for doing all these ultra hard achievements that he is just laughing through it the whole game. I would probably end up with PTSD.
This horror game in particular is somehow most fun out of all. The story, fighting mechanics, and the feeling to freely move around. Makes this series the most enjoyable horror game to experience.
Two things about the hardest chapter: the bridge trick works because on nightmare and Akumu enemies have a modified AI and all the melee weapon haunted target Jojo instantly after they spawn while the dynamite dudes target Seb. The other is that Electric bolts aren't the best for locking enemies down as enemies take HALF damage during their stun. Freeze has a shorter duration but afaik it lets you deal full damage. Electric bolts are there for setting up match combos.
The Evil Within is effin' awesome. So glad the game's getting some much deserved love. I never played this mode (did play nightmare)--much, haha. It was a nightmare for me. The video was hilarious. Thank you for the laughs!
After clearing both Akumu in TEW1, and Classic in TEW2, I'd say that Classic is much tougher (and I highly recommend you try it, because it is fun, and extremely rewarding to successfully complete). Sure, you die in 1 hit on Akumu, but you still can upgrade gear and stats to actually handle enemies with relative ease by the end (bosses are a bit more difficult, but those just take more careful playing), especially if you upgrade the best weapons to use (like the shotgun, sniper, and warden crossbow). You can also upgrade your stamina, reloading speeds, etc to make combat a bit more managable if you get into bad situations. In Classic on TEW2, you cannot upgrade anything, and enemies have the stats as they would in Nightmare. While this doesn't sound like much, it means you are still a 2-3 shot kill to any basic enemies, or a near 1 shot kill to bosses, while also not having much stamina to effectively run from enemies. Because of not upgrading, it means that by endgame, it can take 2-3 shotgun blasts to the head to kill a single enemy at times, and ammo and resources are also found in much smaller amounts. Finally, the most difficult thing about Classic, limited saves. You have a total of 7 saves to use in the entire game, and the game will not autosave. The game is also 16 chapters, so you have to learn where the more difficult parts are, and think about when the best times to actually save your progress is.
Bro, the fcking Classic mode broke my mental health totally…I hated the fact with the 7 saves, and that when u fuck up before the warehouse, u can play the WHOLE tutorial again, and my fcking stamina and not the ability to sprint sneak knife kill was so bad…but in the end after 3 tried suicides and 6 controllers I got it and beat the game on platinum 😂
I think that this mode is what promotes people to stream. If the average person were to try akumu mode they'd lose patience and quit probably never to return to the game, assuming theyve beat already. But when you stream, you have people with you experiencing it with you and motivating you along with making jokes. Sure theres going to be haters but some troll comments could also push you to further persevere through the hardest difficulty to one up them. Ive always wanted to start streaming but i dont feel like i have the personality qualities it takes to be one. Good on you mate, not only for beating akumu mode but for being a wholesome guy to watch beat some hard games.

This is one of my favourite platinum trophies along with dead space 1,2,3. I feel your pain and really enjoyed watching your pain. The 2 Safe heads always done me over and over.
I beat this a couple years back and oh man… such a difficult but fun challenge. Some parts were brutal. A platinum trophy that I will never forget. The second games “classic” difficulty is pretty tough too. Only 7 saves for entire game.
This is one of my all time favorite games. They hit it out of the park with atmosphere and the game play is solid. Never tried Akumu myself and might give it a try myself.
AKUMU's not as bad as this video would have you believe. Being one-shotted is no fun agreed, but at least you only go back to the most recent save and not bounced all the way to the beginning of the game. Just be grateful BETHESDA didn't slap Permadeath on Akumu Mode while they were at it...😅

If you can get past Chapter 6 you can beat Akumu Mode, chapter 6 on Akumu mode was the most difficult challenge In a game I've ever experienced and Beating The Evil Within on Akumu was the most satisfying and rewarding feeling ever.
Did this many years ago when the game came out.that chapter 6 still gives me anxiety. Top tip Max out flash bolts and freeze bolt as it will help kill the time for joseph to open that 2nd door

Major props for doing this. I tried it a few years ago and once I saw how hard it was gonna be by only the 2nd chapter I was out. Mostly for my sanity lol.
Also note for anyone doing this mode. The agony crossbow is your friend. The weapon is maybe my favourite weapon and do things creative things with it. For example, you think the flash grenades are useless. They are really useful in a tight spot when a whole crowd is follow you and can do a bunch a stealth kills. Also there is a glitch in a game when Joseph comes into your game (the game thinks he is a walking wall with a gun which they haven’t patched it). Strap at least 1 bomb always on his butt. It gets rid of any pests people and saves on the bullets. At the 17:32 where you have to save Joseph via by sniping the dudes. Don’t just use the crossbow and aim one more his ass before cutscene starts. Save you a lot of bullets and time. So be creative with your agony crossbow please. 😉😉
I don't think I have the patience (nor the time) anymore to put myself through this. Just finished this on normal back when it came out. Can't wait until my kids are finally old enough so I can make them get the achievements for me. Entertaining video as always ^^
I love this mode. It's so tense. I beat it 3 times over the years just because I liked the challenge (and obviously this amazing game). And this is not meant as "I'm the greatest" or anything, I still died a lot. 😅 I always like upgrading the flash bolt first, especially for the chapter 5 and 6 fights and the shotgun damage for Boss fights. I also like upgrading my harpoon bolts to max by chapter 10, which I think most players don't do, since it's very expensive but they one shot almost all normal enemies, especially useful against the clones and lastly it makes killing Laura in chapter 10 easier (read: possible 😅), which isn't necessary, but.. LOOOOOT!!! 🤤 Love your channel and your positive attitude! ❤️

I have a current Akumu run going but chapter 11 has been my roadblock since it’s taken me literal years (a LONG break) to get past chapter 11, unfortunately that was for the Xbox 360. I started another akumu run on PS5 and stopped shortly after I reached chapter 11…. So, yeah I’m still stuck. The fact you can smile throughout the entire thing just blows my mind since I raged through a lot of it UPDATE: I Finally BEAT this piece of CRAP mode and am DONE with it! GOD! IT took me two years before i came back to bear it and I got about 120-122 deaths and I have a screenshot to prove it as well as a trophy screenshot but goodness. I would not recommend anyone try it unless you care about your sanity because chapter 6 and chapter 11 were pure hell. Congrats to you Snamwiches for beating this god forsaken mode

I died 325 times, and I had the most trouble in the exact same areas as you, namely Chapters 6, 11 and 12. It took me 9 years to give Akumu a try and it was worth it.
I remember doing this back in the day.... Ch. 6 caused me to reset to the beginning of the game to get more trap parts and cheese it with flash and electric parts. Had over 600 deaths my first akumu run

This took me like a week and a half to finish. Chapter 6 and 11 were an absolute nightmare and I was scraping by with barely any ammo the last few chapters. Besides all the bs… totally worth! TEW2’s Akumu mode (which was later added) is nowhere near as bad, but it’s not even an achievement/trophy sadly.
This is one of my favorite games of all time and I agree with what you said about the challenge. A lot of people bashed this difficulty for being unbalanced, but I honestly had a blast with it. Yes it was incredibly frustrating at times, but I enjoyed it so much I did it again with the unlocked weapons. This made it a lot more manageable yet was still challenging and fun.
I got to be frank seeing tons of twitch streamers straight give up on Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection on Legend mode kinda makes this look like a walk in the park.

I remember spending a whole lot of time on this difficulty, think it took me a few days to beat it and this game I spent more time on certain levels that I’ve never had to do on any other game. If I had to guess my deaths in had to be about 150, my insanity was at max. I still remember me finally getting the achievement and casually sliding down my chair whilst laughing quite Insanely 😂
Congrats !! I did my akuma run few years ago and had trouble at the same parts of the game as you🤣 the 2 rooms with the infinity spawning enemies and of cause the enemies elevators at 28:20.
For this game, I followed a streamer Jigzaw_killer's guide and he made the game much more a breeze than I thought. So much became trivial that I deemed impossible without getting hit. Love this game. Would defiantly recommend it to any survival horror fan. Also, before I forget. My dude try to get an S rank in Resident Evil Code Veronica. I won't stop commenting on every upload till you acknowledge me.

Ah Akumu mode...that is a really rough difficulty indeed. Although I'd almost argue that the sequel's Classic difficulty was harder thanks to the limited saves and no upgrades. Still, a great series and rough as hell. I only wish we find out what happened to Joseph Oda sooner or later!
If you have trouble disarming the bombs that explode. Disarm the bomb and backtrack to save. I saved everytime I disarmed one and while it took a long while it’s worth it if you want to beat the game on this difficulty. And you’ll get some extra ammo which you will need for sure. There is usually a way to save around the area around bombs. Good luck it’s a good game but will drive you insane
Dude, the whole sky rail part where you can only stand still while enemies are throwing shit at you was SO painful when getting this achievement. I think I was in physical pain by the end.

I got softlocked at the final chapter fighting the safeheads cause of my ammo. Made me stop the mode after that haha.

Achievable, evil within has some really hard achievements like beating the game at a certain time, or killing enemies with different bows which for some reason doesn’t register with me
If you thought it was the most difficult thing you've ever done in a video game, you can't even imagine with the first title, the difficulty, unlike 2, is too noticeable

Did this achievement a couple of years back. It was a pain in the ass at a couple of points, but man oh man.. when that achievement popped, nothing can compare to that feeling. Well, except perhaps the Hard To The Core achievement in Dead Space 2...
Hardcore mode in Dead Space 2 wasn't even on Zealot Difficulty. The only hard part of that Hardcore is the elevator ride.

I never said that the Hard To The Core achievement is hard, but it is a pain in the ass since you only got 3 saves and Dead Space 2 is a pretty long game.. and since there are tons of instant death bullshit sequenses in it it makes it nerve-racking. At least if you haven't played the game for a couple of years and you try to do the achievement - which I did.

Man Joseph was so tilting in this game. Funniest thing about watching this is how anti-climactic the death animations when you die from a little hit / stray bullet, had me in stitches
Same it's always seems like the game pausing to calculate if you got hit or not when the RNG is usually pretty much a invisible variable in most games
Protect the stupid NPC missions have always been the worst thing in videogames.
I love that this channel focuses on the 5-ish % of completion trophies rather than those 0.5-ish %.
I feel like a lot of games reach low % by asking players for weird grind rather than a fun challenge like this.

Its so nice to see your channel grow more and more with each video, my first video of yours was the Dead Space video. Hit me in the feels, the first game i beat on the hardest difficulty was Dead Space 2 Hardcore, and it was nice to see someone else do it and experience it for the first time! Can't wait to see your future content!
This brings back memories, but the extra challenge on top of Akumu for me was that there was something about the combination of frame-rate, motion and lighting that would bring on a nauseous headache more often than not. Still never figured out exactly what thing caused it, I tried changing graphics settings, TV settings, everything, but it was a constant thing. I've never had it with any other game before or since.

The Evil Within is infamous for its poorly optimized console ports.
There's really no excuse for such poor performance either, the game shouldn't be more demanding than Arkham Knight which runs great on console.
Dmitry is right. It's not the consoles that, it's the absolutely mediocre optimization of the evil within. The company never bothered fixing it which makes playing through the first game an absolute chore.

Pro Tip for The Masochists out there who are actually tempted to try this themselves : The Freeze Bolts on The Warden Crossbow can also freeze the tripwire bombs if I remember correctly. It's basically a trade off, one freeze bolt for some parts. But if you're in a pinch and cannot afford anymore mistakes, there's always a costly get out of trap free card at your disposal. Just remember to conserve your ammo though...

This was one of the games I platinum this year. Akumu mode is no joke. Had 89 deaths after I was done.
Another tip to make chapter 6 a little bit easier is definitely try to upgrade your flash bolts to at least level 5. Gives you some breathing room without wasting up too much ammo
The best part of Snam’s runs is how he’s always surprised when he gets killed. You’d think he’d be used to it by now
The first portion of chapter 6 took me 2 days to complete I would literally sit in class and just think of different ways to beat the level. One of the few games I'm truly proud of platinuming.
This achievement was roughh. I helped a friend do this one and he had trouble for a few days with the burning building with Joseoh and the locks. I completed it while he was in the shower and when he came out he freaked! Finishing it was very rewarding though. It was always funny how even the littlest tap kills you at full health. The crossbow flash bolts were our saving grace.

Love this guy. He got so crazy for doing all these ultra hard achievements that he is just laughing through it the whole game. I would probably end up with PTSD.
This horror game in particular is somehow most fun out of all. The story, fighting mechanics, and the feeling to freely move around. Makes this series the most enjoyable horror game to experience.
Two things about the hardest chapter: the bridge trick works because on nightmare and Akumu enemies have a modified AI and all the melee weapon haunted target Jojo instantly after they spawn while the dynamite dudes target Seb.
The other is that Electric bolts aren't the best for locking enemies down as enemies take HALF damage during their stun. Freeze has a shorter duration but afaik it lets you deal full damage. Electric bolts are there for setting up match combos.
The Evil Within is effin' awesome. So glad the game's getting some much deserved love. I never played this mode (did play nightmare)--much, haha. It was a nightmare for me.

The real victory is that you finish one of the game with the worst combat and hit registration that ive ever played. You sir, are a legend
After clearing both Akumu in TEW1, and Classic in TEW2, I'd say that Classic is much tougher (and I highly recommend you try it, because it is fun, and extremely rewarding to successfully complete).
Sure, you die in 1 hit on Akumu, but you still can upgrade gear and stats to actually handle enemies with relative ease by the end (bosses are a bit more difficult, but those just take more careful playing), especially if you upgrade the best weapons to use (like the shotgun, sniper, and warden crossbow). You can also upgrade your stamina, reloading speeds, etc to make combat a bit more managable if you get into bad situations.
In Classic on TEW2, you cannot upgrade anything, and enemies have the stats as they would in Nightmare. While this doesn't sound like much, it means you are still a 2-3 shot kill to any basic enemies, or a near 1 shot kill to bosses, while also not having much stamina to effectively run from enemies. Because of not upgrading, it means that by endgame, it can take 2-3 shotgun blasts to the head to kill a single enemy at times, and ammo and resources are also found in much smaller amounts. Finally, the most difficult thing about Classic, limited saves. You have a total of 7 saves to use in the entire game, and the game will not autosave. The game is also 16 chapters, so you have to learn where the more difficult parts are, and think about when the best times to actually save your progress is.
Bro, the fcking Classic mode broke my mental health totally…I hated the fact with the 7 saves, and that when u fuck up before the warehouse, u can play the WHOLE tutorial again, and my fcking stamina and not the ability to sprint sneak knife kill was so bad…but in the end after 3 tried suicides and 6 controllers I got it and beat the game on platinum 😂
Enemies on Classic mode have less health than in a Normal playthrough. (By normal, i mean a Not classic playthrough)
I think that this mode is what promotes people to stream. If the average person were to try akumu mode they'd lose patience and quit probably never to return to the game, assuming theyve beat already. But when you stream, you have people with you experiencing it with you and motivating you along with making jokes. Sure theres going to be haters but some troll comments could also push you to further persevere through the hardest difficulty to one up them. Ive always wanted to start streaming but i dont feel like i have the personality qualities it takes to be one. Good on you mate, not only for beating akumu mode but for being a wholesome guy to watch beat some hard games.
Congrats man, Akumu mode can be a real pain and an awesome experience to put your skills to the test. Getting the platinum trophy as I beat Akumu mode felt so satisfying
I died over 120 times in Akumu,but man,those knuckle dusters were totally worth it.
Seeing this channel has inspired me to go for platinums again. So now I'm currently in a long grind for the Yakuza 5 plat and it's almost perfect that this video came along to lift my spirits. Appreciate you and anyone else reading this.

This is one of my favourite platinum trophies along with dead space 1,2,3. I feel your pain and really enjoyed watching your pain. The 2 Safe heads always done me over and over.
I beat this a couple years back and oh man… such a difficult but fun challenge. Some parts were brutal.
A platinum trophy that I will never forget. The second games “classic” difficulty is pretty tough too. Only 7 saves for entire game.
This is one of my all time favorite games. They hit it out of the park with atmosphere and the game play is solid. Never tried Akumu myself and might give it a try myself.

AKUMU's not as bad as this video would have you believe. Being one-shotted is no fun agreed, but at least you only go back to the most recent save and not bounced all the way to the beginning of the game. Just be grateful BETHESDA didn't slap Permadeath on Akumu Mode while they were at it...😅

If you can get past Chapter 6 you can beat Akumu Mode, chapter 6 on Akumu mode was the most difficult challenge In a game I've ever experienced and Beating The Evil Within on Akumu was the most satisfying and rewarding feeling ever.

Major props for doing this. I tried it a few years ago and once I saw how hard it was gonna be by only the 2nd chapter I was out. Mostly for my sanity lol.
Also note for anyone doing this mode. The agony crossbow is your friend. The weapon is maybe my favourite weapon and do things creative things with it.
For example, you think the flash grenades are useless. They are really useful in a tight spot when a whole crowd is follow you and can do a bunch a stealth kills. Also there is a glitch in a game when Joseph comes into your game (the game thinks he is a walking wall with a gun which they haven’t patched it). Strap at least 1 bomb always on his butt. It gets rid of any pests people and saves on the bullets. At the 17:32 where you have to save Joseph via by sniping the dudes. Don’t just use the crossbow and aim one more his ass before cutscene starts. Save you a lot of bullets and time.
So be creative with your agony crossbow please. 😉😉
I don't think I have the patience (nor the time) anymore to put myself through this. Just finished this on normal back when it came out. Can't wait until my kids are finally old enough so I can make them get the achievements for me. Entertaining video as always ^^
I finally beat this today! Died 629 times. Watching you play this mode made me wanna go back and give it a try.
These streams were such a joy to watch.
I love this mode. It's so tense. I beat it 3 times over the years just because I liked the challenge (and obviously this amazing game). And this is not meant as "I'm the greatest" or anything, I still died a lot. 😅 I always like upgrading the flash bolt first, especially for the chapter 5 and 6 fights and the shotgun damage for Boss fights. I also like upgrading my harpoon bolts to max by chapter 10, which I think most players don't do, since it's very expensive but they one shot almost all normal enemies, especially useful against the clones and lastly it makes killing Laura in chapter 10 easier (read: possible 😅), which isn't necessary, but.. LOOOOOT!!! 🤤

I have a current Akumu run going but chapter 11 has been my roadblock since it’s taken me literal years (a LONG break) to get past chapter 11, unfortunately that was for the Xbox 360. I started another akumu run on PS5 and stopped shortly after I reached chapter 11…. So, yeah I’m still stuck.
The fact you can smile throughout the entire thing just blows my mind since I raged through a lot of it
UPDATE: I Finally BEAT this piece of CRAP mode and am DONE with it! GOD! IT took me two years before i came back to bear it and I got about 120-122 deaths and I have a screenshot to prove it as well as a trophy screenshot but goodness. I would not recommend anyone try it unless you care about your sanity because chapter 6 and chapter 11 were pure hell. Congrats to you Snamwiches for beating this god forsaken mode
Snamwiches has literally the most chill face playing this mode. I swear no one would be able to draw a sketch of my face when I was playing this.

I died 325 times, and I had the most trouble in the exact same areas as you, namely Chapters 6, 11 and 12.
It took me 9 years to give Akumu a try and it was worth it.
I remember doing this back in the day.... Ch. 6 caused me to reset to the beginning of the game to get more trap parts and cheese it with flash and electric parts. Had over 600 deaths my first akumu run

This took me like a week and a half to finish. Chapter 6 and 11 were an absolute nightmare and I was scraping by with barely any ammo the last few chapters. Besides all the bs… totally worth!
TEW2’s Akumu mode (which was later added) is nowhere near as bad, but it’s not even an achievement/trophy sadly.
This is one of my favorite games of all time and I agree with what you said about the challenge. A lot of people bashed this difficulty for being unbalanced, but I honestly had a blast with it. Yes it was incredibly frustrating at times, but I enjoyed it so much I did it again with the unlocked weapons. This made it a lot more manageable yet was still challenging and fun.

I remember spending a whole lot of time on this difficulty, think it took me a few days to beat it and this game I spent more time on certain levels that I’ve never had to do on any other game. If I had to guess my deaths in had to be about 150, my insanity was at max. I still remember me finally getting the achievement and casually sliding down my chair whilst laughing quite Insanely 😂
Congrats !! I did my akuma run few years ago and had trouble at the same parts of the game as you🤣 the 2 rooms with the infinity spawning enemies and of cause the enemies elevators at 28:20.
For this game, I followed a streamer Jigzaw_killer's guide and he made the game much more a breeze than I thought. So much became trivial that I deemed impossible without getting hit. Love this game. Would defiantly recommend it to any survival horror fan.

Ah Akumu mode...that is a really rough difficulty indeed. Although I'd almost argue that the sequel's Classic difficulty was harder thanks to the limited saves and no upgrades. Still, a great series and rough as hell. I only wish we find out what happened to Joseph Oda sooner or later!

I think this was the last game I ever attempted an impossible difficulty challenge, it didn’t even fell like it was worth it for the knuckle dusters.
If you have trouble disarming the bombs that explode. Disarm the bomb and backtrack to save. I saved everytime I disarmed one and while it took a long while it’s worth it if you want to beat the game on this difficulty. And you’ll get some extra ammo which you will need for sure. There is usually a way to save around the area around bombs. Good luck it’s a good game but will drive you insane

Dude, the whole sky rail part where you can only stand still while enemies are throwing shit at you was SO painful when getting this achievement. I think I was in physical pain by the end.
