- Today, I go for one of the hardest achievements of the xbox 360 era: Dead Rising's 7 Day Survivor. So enjoy the Dead Rising gameplay, tips and tricks, and all the pain it brought me on this fateful day lol.
Oh and if you’re wondering why a video of a 14 hour achievement is so short, I think the total waiting around time amounted to 12.5 hours LOL

I genuinely think the only reason this was bearable was due to the dead rising mall music. All six of those songs are BANGERS. I'm really not sure why most malls don't have soundtrack composers make their playlists, no wonder they're going out of business. Actually, get me in the studio instead. I've never used FL studio in my life, but I'll take care of business. It'll be like a mall renaissance with me as their rightful ruler. Maybe I can even get a Lulu Lemon gift card as well.

I have did this achievement and it was so awful.But I got it anyways.
This achievement used to have a sort of mythical status back when the game originally released, because in those days it had the added RNG of whether or not your Xbox 360 would RRoD half way through the attempt.
Yep! Otherwise its really not that hard, get the 3 food books, load up on food in one sector, wait and then move on when food starts to get low
@@Stairsarehard Well yes and no. Certain survivors/psychos/bosses appeared on certain maps at certain times and would also do food drops.
When I got this achievement, it was... yes, a chore. I remember looking up online for what was where, where to go, etc. And what humans would do food drops. You'd have to be careful of course, didn't want to be caught at a bad time against a tough boss while your health was dwindling, because they'd end you and your run before you knew what hit you.

There were also specific sections of the map that caused a soft lock after a certain time period.
Did this back when game came out….was watching movie with wife and a friend towards the end when you wait in the theater. My buddy noticed a zombie came into concession area and was about to get me while I was at low health….he shouted and saved the run. Daniel always gets a lot of credit for that achievement.

Unsure if this has been said already-but the Zombie Genocide achievement killcount total is actually the entire registered population of the city of Willamette! It's displayed on a sign during the intro cutscene when Frank is flying in by helicopter.
Plus it became a sort of meme, appearing as Achievements/Trophies in other games like Left 4 Dead and [PROTOTYPE]

This game should have let you save just so you can take breaks. I never got this achievement and the one to save all survivors. That was because one always died and I gave up . The AI was very dumb .
All survivors is easy enough, at least on the steam version, as long as you A. carry/hold hands etc with anyone you can with, this seems to make the zombies a lot less aggressive, know that if a survivor loses health you can give them food/drink items to heal, SPAM "Follow me" or set waypoints and spam to the survivor(s) to go to the waypoint. Also USE the bathroom shortcut.
The "Answer all Otis calls" one seems the most difficult.
Having said that, I realise I only have "Saint" on the Steam version, not on my Xbox 360 version.
Also use the mini chainsaws/real megabuster.
I hate to brag Mr. GTA TH-camr but I got 100 percent of all the achievements in Dead Rising on my Series X. It was the most satisfying painful thing I’ve ever done in my life.
@@lmcgregoruk answering every radio call was definitely the worst. You can't get hit by anything while you're on the radio, or you have to reset.

Oh man nooooooo…. I worked at Capcom Vancouver during Dead Rising 3 development on the gameplay side of things. For reference had to play the older games for inspiration, I was tasked to 100% the game so I did this as well. Luckily for me I had cheats with the dev machine and this achievement still took me almost a week! Good on your bro! Subscribed!

@@BrandyBeach unfortunately the studio I worked for Capcom Vancouver was closed a couple years ago. Maybe they will make another, but it will be revived by a new studio.
Back in the summer when this game came out and I was absolutely obsessed with this game, I hunkered down to try and get this. I got snacks, easy made lunch and dinner, I had Dawn of the Dead on another input to watch while I survived. I was SET. Day 6 started, and I needed more fun than I realized I had. Went to the Food Court, and the game crashed. Later found out that after like Day 4 or so, going to the Food Court can crash the game.
That was a very sad day
Yeah this bug was also in the PS4 HD version, in which I thankfully went to the Food Court much earlier and then purposely never went there again.

This achievement is crazy. That Ending of Dead Space 2 cracked me up for real. All that work!
Back in 2007 my buddy attempted this achievement. He get well into day 6 after hording the last of the food. He accidentally took to long on the last square one time and the eating animation didn't finish before the block emptied. He hasn't tried since as far as I know.

This is still one of my fondest gaming experiences ever. At first this game was just weird and chaotic, but once you understand it and get to know ever mechanic of it and you memorize every event, you get better and better until you finally tackle this achievement.
I remember getting chained onto a statue by one of the NPCs at the last moments of my first attempt at this. And it blew my mind because I'ne never seen this cutscene or event happen or have read about it.

Me and my brother got this by constantly switching between us so the other could take breaks. It was a fairly efficient method. The only downside was we had to do it twice so we could both have the achievement.
Living in a place where the power goes away all the time (to the point you have to buy surge protectors so your consoles and appliances don’t die), I’d NEVER attempt this achievement. Yeah, I’d love to be 9 hours in only for the power to go out and all my progress to amount to zilch lol

Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most gut-wrenching things I have ever seen in my life. I don't mean movies. I mean things. And I'm a combat vet. That movie broke my soul.

Did this on a crap console named Xbox360 years ago. Took around 10 attempts. Amongst deaths was completely my fault, but the game also was at fault. Made it to day 4, I think, and remember vaguely that the game froze near food court, or outside. Another attempt i made it to day 5, only to witness my console shutting down and I see the red lights flashing on the console. Well sent the console to Germany and after a few weeks I got it back. Seemed to be working. Started over and got my 7daySurvivor achievement. Thank god. A few weeks later I bought Gears Of War. Made it to one of those indestrictible giants and while it ran against me the game froze. My console sounded like a jet engine and got the red lights again. Having no guarantee left I showed the console in the garage and was really tempted to smash it to a thousand pieces.
Still.. I got that achievement. And never ever touching any Xboxes ever again.

I never ended up getting around to seriously doing this achievement. Got most of the other achievements besides all the survivors since I missed a group of them which sucked.
I'm tempted to give it a go with the XB1 version around Halloween time. But . . . that also sounds like a lot of work.

This was the last trophy i needed for the platinum and oh my god it was stressful. I almost got killed by the convicts around hour 13 because i was on the verge of passing out. Got it 1st try luckily. Would've been so mad if i died lol. Great video!
I got this achievement once in my early twenties when I got the first DR and once again last Christmas when I got the Xbox One version. Both times, it was some of the most fun I've had in gaming... I genuinely love it.
The Xbox 360 killer achievement. I’m sure this thing caused a few red rings of death.
I just got this achievement two days ago. I got like 7 days 19 hours, and paused the game. I remember being excited because at that exact time (7 PM on the 7th day), Brad is supposed to spawn somewhere. He is the second to last spawning survivor/psychopath in Infinity Mode. Next thing I know I fell asleep and my Xbox automatically shuts off after a few hours, so my entire run got scrubbed. Still got the achievement, but not the time rank, nor the laser sword or heart boxers. I would've been #284 on the Xbox One leader boards. :(
Welcome to the club, I've gone through the insanity as well. Had been awake for 25 hours by the end when I did it. Have fun with the laser sword. BTW- if you have all three food books, roam the mall, and solely kill survivors/psychos for your food in the first 4 hours, then you can collect all the large food in paradise plaza you can carry and move into the food court. It will have more than enough to last you the rest of the run.

So me and my friend did this achievement, or more like I did it. (I owned Dead rising 1+2 at the time) I set out to do the first achievment, the first of the two. It took so long for just that one. When we realized the amount of time was practically an entire day for that other achievment even if it'd be easy-ish, it still was just the question of seeking/wanting to do something like that.
I remember when I fucked this up about 12 hours in and had to do it again. One of the most frustrating moments of my life.
I always think I'll be tired of seeing people attempt this achievement, but I never am.
I'm half japanese and I laughed my ass off when you showed grave of the fireflies, because it is the most depressing and heartbreaking movie of all time
When I did this one, it was a friday night, and I decided I was going to knock out a good portion if it, sleep for a few hours (pausing of course), then finish the rest on that Saturday morning. My plan fell through because I ended up pushing through the night for the whole 14 hours, I watched the sun rise, and as soon as I was finished (stayed up for about 28 hours straight) my roommate asked me to drive her to Walmart for something... and apperently it couldn't wait til after I caught back up with my sleep XD
I got this achievement back in 2009 and it was fucking torture, i had to buy an extra strength 5-hour energy, i started at 6 pm and wasn't done until nearly 8 am and i was so close to quitting after i got the 5-day survivor achievement.
Capcom was clever putting this mode together.
They made it where food doesn’t respawn in the mall. You gotta kill survivors and psychopaths to get more.
However, if you get all the food books, you can actually survive all 7 days on only mall food and not fighting with a single psychopath or survivor.
The problem is that this method is insanely boring and involves a lot of standing around and waiting…
Was easy for me as a kid. Aside from the fear of the 360 overheating from being on non stop. But I do remember leaving it on while I slept. Having Frank standing on the pavilion roof in the outside park area.
I remember getting this achievement way back on Xbox 360 a word of advice do not enter the food court on day 4 if your playing on 360 i believe the bug is fixed on the remaster versions the game will hang on a loading screen and lock up read it online

I forgot this achievement existed, glad I get to watch you complete it, your Dead Space 2 one was really good.
God I remember this achievement so vividily. I spent the first 2 hours outside in the park on the roof eating the food I got from the sniper family. Then I migrated indoors to Colby's Movieland for another 2 hours, before migrating once again to Paradise Plaza, before taking my stash to the Office, roleplaying as a security guard, where I remained for two more hours, before heading off to the Huntin' Shack for, I kid you not, the next seven hours of the run. Once my supply of food was low enough to be mobile again, I left for the fitness center in Al Fresca Plaza and waited the last hour until the clock finally said the zombies could eat my brains. Good times.
don't feel bad, I had to do this achievement 3 times in a row and I still never got it.
Apparently there was a bug on the Xbox 360 version of the game when it first released where your game would hard FREEZE up when you were about 12-13 hours into the challenge iirc.
I always thought it was my Xbox 360 overheating because I played it so much, not realizing until 10+ years later it was a bug, and remembering that "wait, my 360 never froze any other time except during this challenge.." so yeah, I did this at least 3 times because I became obsessed at one point.
It was easier back then in my early 20's to do it when I had all the time in the world.
Now that I'm 37 and have a wife and family with dogs, it would be near impossible to get 14 hours straight where I could do this acheivement, and a situation where I would WANT to do this achievement with my spare 14 hours.
So yeah watching Snam have to redo this achiev I don't have much sympathy considering how many times I had to redo and still never got it thanks to the overheating Xbox 360 RRoD.

I only got the recap on it from movie reviewer and I kinda wish I didn’t. Your method for getting this achievement is good, except when I try to execute it I end up dying to Carlito in the food court and figure it’s not worth it. Great video! I got this back in the day on the 360 with the rest of the achievements for the game. I was very proud.
Impressive.
Not only because of the as high as 50% failure rate of launch units, but due to tedium as well as stuff like specific crashes for Infinity Mode itself (Day 4 in the Food Court).
I myself tried it like 5 times, dying in various ways in early 2007, so ended up waiting until the inevitable RROD in October 2008 to get a refurbished unit from Microsoft.
Got it first try that December, but there was at least one close call due to not setting a 19-20 minute alarm…
Have to love a content creator who also loves going for these crazy hard achievement. I remember doing all these long ago.
No way I'd even try to do this. 14 hours in real time is truly insane!! As someone that has epilepsy I'd probably have a seizure for playing so long if I were to even try this achievement.

This one of the 3 achievements I have left. I even escorted those survivors with pesky AI, and hours of driving through those tunnels. Congrats my man, you are doing great
I love achievements, honestly, it gives games so much replay value. The average casual gamer, will buy a game, play through the story once and just move on to the next game. For me personally, I like to experience every game I play to the fullest and complete them 100%. Right now I'm currently playing Dead Island Definitive Edition, I only need 8 more achievements, I got most of the online co-op achievements done so I'm happy about that. After that I'm going to work on Dead Island Riptide, I want to 100% complete both games before Dead Island 2 comes out.
So quick math I just looked up.
14 hours divided by 100 seconds for every HP block drained equals 504. You need to be able to heal a total of 504 HP *from the time limit alone.*
And obviously, you only carry a max of 12 HP from max level, and even max inventory from having it is nowhere near enough to carry you.
I do appreciate how the EXP bar turns into a timer for when the HP block ticks down though, and shows how your blocks do have a invisible shield on when they tick down normally.
I remember thinking this challenge was hard when I first attempted it. But then I figured out books that increase healing, barricading off an area with lots of food, finding a safe spot then going idle to watch TV and setting a timer so I could heal before Frank died of starvation.
EZ if I recall. I called this achievement “Feeding Frank”. Snag up as much orange juice as you can, perch yourself on a bookshelf, set a timer for 2 hours, repeat.
Man this shit brings back memories, so much fun on summer break 2006. Few games give me that immediate flash of memories. Fallout 3 is another one, puts me right back to 9th grade Christmas vacation. Great video.
I also hid in closest for hours at a time while periodically gorging myself with whatever was edible. This achievement is why is was able to start binging Bleach back in the day. Nothing else to do for 14 hours glued to my TV but watch anime on my laptop.

This achievement is actually easy now, with the series x quick resume I can stop anytime and comeback whenever, i could play 1 hour a day for 2 weeks and bam!

@@Snamwiches I actually had that happen already since I purchased it on a different profile and played on another, the game stopped but I was able to start where I left off, since the mode isn't online I haven't had any issues returning to when my internet lost connection, quick resume should be safe as long as you don't quit the game or play it on a different profile.

A guide is really needed when doing this cause I'm not even joking certain parts of the map crash your game at certain times
I remember when I did this, I scrambled around that first hour or so getting all the proper magazine perks and a good stash of food, and then I chose one of the movie theaters to isolate myself in and closed the doors. No zombie stormed in the entire time. Once I had a good supply of food sitting in the theater and it became a matter of the waiting game, I went ahead and set a timer on my phone to go off every so often to check in and feed myself. Caught up on a lot of reading that day.
Back in the day when I did this, I used to print out the text guides from gameFAQs and IGN. All I did was collect the megablaster, get the mini chainsaws, collect OJ, pizza, steaks and killed the ones out in the park and sat up on the awning, wrapped a rubber band around the controller, set a timer and voila
i was 13 years old when i saw " grave of the fireflies". I saw it during a cinema course with SCHOOL
I wasn't the only one traumatised. All my classmates were crying too at the end..

hardest achievement for me, Call of Duty World at War - For The Motherland- Achievement. your allies are worthless, unlimited enemies spawn, barely any checkpoints if any, enemies have laser aim and one hit kill potential, and one last thing what was it...........................oh yeah the Germans will throw more grenades at you, than were made during WW2 all on the hardest difficulty.

Only attempted this when I got my own place.
My strategy was to collect Food, go to the Food Court, climb up, leave ALL my food there.
Go out explore for other enemies, collect food whenever.
Go back, climb. Leave food there.
And then, just camp there.
Until it’s over.

7 Day survivor was really fun and I enjoyed planning it out and finishing it back on the day. I think it took me around five tries over a couple of weeks.
Wow another damn good video prompts to you for never giving up, you and another TH-camr hav inspired me to start 100 percent games with achievements lol, I got all the achievements in Batman Arkham asylum and tekken 7, the funny thing was I got all tekken 7 without even trying to do them they were hard ones but I didn’t realize I did them, anyway keep up the good work and wish you luck.
I haven't watched the video yet. But I've seen another on whatever this games hardest achievement was, and it reminds me of Killzone 2's multi-player trophy.
There were 3 trophies, a gold for making the top %3, a silver for making top %7, and bronze for getting top %10 of the global leader boards.
I just crossed all three off and said "ehh, if I can get all the other trophies(som required ridiculous killsprees online in short timeframes) I'll pat myself on the back anyway"
I figured I'd drive myself insane if I sctually force myself to stress over the leaderboards of a game I was never that good at.
I managed to somehow get the easier 2 of those 3, which in turn caused me to totally forget that last sentence, and dedicate months to failing the last trophy.
I really think game achievements(and trophies) need to separate Multi-player and Campaign trophies, or at least let us view them in a new comparison format.

I remember trying to get this achievement when the game first came out. I had my Xbox at my grandparents house, and had to leave the Xbox running for 3 days straight, weaving in my gameplay time with them not watching TV. Arthur's Boxers are not worth it lol. Get the Mega Blaster & enjoy your game.
actually i did manage to kill 53594 zombies, save 50 survivors and achieve the true ending on the same playthrough before, it's hard but i'd take those over doing this one again especially since my console bugged out by the 7th day with input lag and i couldn't save the progress after so the unlockables were not unlocked.
No that isnt possible. If you do the math, how long it would take to kill almost 54 thousand zombies you' ll end up with a few minutes left. And thats theoretically impossible to save all survivors in an already tight schedule. Believe me, I've done it all in this game, not simultaneously though.
You really have to dedicate run 1 on saving all survivors, including answering ALL of Otis calls. Run 2 is pretty much just driving the sports car in'n out of the tunnels. Run 3 is for 7daySurvivor.
I've did this twice. Honeslty it's not so bad when your mostly camping somewhere with food each day and have the right books. Aside from finding a day to waste 14 hours. The hardest thing is avoiding the crash that can happen in the food court area. Might be the 5th day but it can crash the game.....its happend to me..
Honestly though I feel like answering all otis calls is the worst because its bugged for me a couple of times. You get one every 10mins before a scoop so you cant be in the safeplace early. Everytime you enter a area for the first time you get a call and every time a new missions for survivors occur he will call so you can't afk in the safe places without missing them.
I just randomly clicked on one of your vids and so glad I did. One of the few channels where I actually sit and watch your stuff all the way through.
Still one of the hardest achievement I'm proud of earning to this day. Probably the hardest one next to Dead space hardcore clear.

Just completed this last night / this morning! At one point I put 3 milks in a room and forgot that if I load another area, they're gone forever. Thankfully, I still had a cushion to finish the 7 days, and on my first attempt!

I tried this the first time and went to the bathroom while I was in the safe room. Just killed Officer Jo and had 1000 food. Came back and died from the health loss because I have terrible time management. I had to do it again because I really wanted that laser sword and achievement. .... next week because I already spent hours for the day.
This game tilted me SO HARD when I tried to get to a save point in the toilets and died. I literally haven’t loaded up the game since and this would have been circa 2007 lol... so i cannot imagine how shit this would be with no saves. I remember seeing the achievement as a fellow achievement hunter and basically just said fuck that. Amazing to see you grind for it man!
I remember doing this on the 360 back in the day haha. I forgot it takes like actually 14 hours. Capcom you so crazy. Great video man your and commentary is top notch 👌

Watched a streamer a couple of days ago. He was in Paradise Plaza in Jills Sandwiches. Had a couple of full heals on floor. The time was 6 days 23 minutes something. Streamer was very tired. Shot a zombie then waited. So I thougt. As I saw him dying I wonder if he fell asleep. Well he did. So he did the same challenge the next day. What a legend! 👍
