For anyone looking to start an Impossible run but anxious about it here are some tips that might help 1)Its 1 life but not exactly 1 save. You're limited to one save slot that you may overwrite as many times as you wish but it is deleted on Isaac's death. So if you wished you could save after every encounter. Just make sure you've got the ammo for it :) 2) Speaking of ammo, kinesis is your friend. Everyone knows that ripping a spike from a necromorph can be used to spear it but there are other ways to deal damage without shooting a weapon. 2a)The fan blades off of vents are still very sharp and when thrown with kinesis can sever the legs if aimed just below the knee. And conveniently every Necromorph that breaks open a vent drops this kneecapper right in front of them ;) 2b) Fire extinguishers are all over the ship and act as small scale explosives if thrown. It's not much damage but enough to stagger an enemy or even blow off a limb of an already weakened enemy 2c) Any physics object you pick up can do small damage when thrown but more importantly they'll stun an enemy for a second giving you a moment to reposition or reload 3)Make the game give you ammo. The game uses the same system as the original in that ammo drops are based on your currently equipped weapons as well as how much you have on hand. So that means if you have an overabundance of plasma cutter ammo the game wont give you any and either give you credits or another ammo type for a different tool that's running low. Anytime you get over 90 plasma cutter ammo throw it in the stores bank and you'll be surprised how much ammo the game starts throwing at you. For reference my Impossible run I ended up using just the Plasma cutter and the force gun. I would store plasma cutter ammo after 90 and force gun ammo after about 45. By chapter 8 my store had about 2 rows of plasma cutter ammo and 3 rows of force gun ammo. Anytime I got a little low I would just dip into the store for a quick refill back to my arbitrary limit. At the final boss I had well over a 200 shots for each gun just sitting in the bank. 4) Health is important, but using a large health pack is a giant waste. There is no overhealing in this game so unless you're health is in the red a medium will do you just as well a large on in the long run. Getting your hp full in this game just means you can take more hits, which if you're trying not to die is something you should be avoiding anyway. So either sell the large pack for credits or store them in the bank to be used for the final boss fight as a get out of jail free card 4b) Dont worry too much about getting your HP to its fullest at any point. Getting to 'green' is usually sufficient Being in green means your HP is at least 80% of its max. The remaining 20% sounds like a lot but really it equates to 1 maybe 2 more hits that you can take depending on your RiG upgrades. At full upgrades you can take about 7 hits at full and when your in green it's about 6. 4c)Upgrades to your RIGs HP will automatically fill your health too. So if youre near a bench and low on health but have the nodes for an HP upgrade do it. This also applies even if you've reset the suits upgrades with credits. So its always an option to reset for 10k and use nodes to get back some but not all the HP upgrades you had previously. This will refill the health bar to full but now with spare nodes and spare full health refills to be used at your discretion 5) Stomp goes hard. About 3 stomps will break a necromorphs legs and about 4 more will kill it without using a single shot. If there is a Stasis recharge nearby abuse this combo to clear the room. Freeze stomp, repeat until the area is clear. 5c) complete the sidequest regarding the Hunters origins. This can only be started after chapter 5 by picking up the tissue sample in cryogenics after freezing the hunter. There will be some backtracking but the reward is an upgrade to stasis that causes it to do damage over time as well as freeze enemies 5d) find the plasma cutter upgrade weighted blades. This gives you a huge chance that Isaac's melee with the plasma cutter will knock a necromorph over. With stasis this seems to be even easier and 1 punch will knock an enemy over 75% of the time making them an easy stomp target 6) Good luck have fun you've got this
Thank you so much for these tips. I really thought you only had one save and had to play it in one (or two) go, like dead space 2, but it's just like dead space 3 now. And that ammo tip is a gamechanger.
I would say I heavily disagree with 4. The game seems to give just enough health to be fine but never safe. Like enough for a full heal and a half. If you have a maxed HP bar more drops will be large then medium as you have more HP to heal and in turn the game gives you bigger drops. I'm doing an upgrade less run and even in the later levels all my drops are small with the occasional medium. My first playthrough once I had max HP was nothing but large and the occasional medium. Don't skip on health upgrades, that can be very helpful.
7) Even though it will wipe your save you can copy it and put it on a flash drive it only wipes the memory of the device you chose to save it on, but not anything you copy it to. Save, dashboard out, and copy it to removable memory.

I didn't find it that bad if you load up on ammo and keep your distance in certain areas. I did get soft locked once and ran into invincible enemies in one room. They had me almost dead so I reset to the main menu and loaded the enemies died normally after that. It has to be a bug
That's not controversial at all, the plasma cutter is objectively the best gun in the entire game and by focusing all your nodes on just it and your rig, it becomes an absolute BEAST of a weapon.
While not on impossible mode, I did a medium run with the Plasma Cutter only and it was a walk in the park. By Chapter 11, the gun and my suit was fully upgraded, I had a total of around 350 ammo for the gun, tons of medkits and over 250k cash. I'm actually planning to do an impossible run the same way, except I'm planning to pick up the flamethrower this time, since it's great for crowd control. And it's also great against the enemies that are problematic with the Plasma Cutter, like the Swarm, the Dividers and the Guardians.

@@MartinVRS41 Pretty much. I feel like it's a bit of pokémon syndrome (earlier generations). Instead of having 4 weapons you node out a bit and struggle to keep a decent amount of ammo for, you instead have a fully kitted out gun with the upgrades, always enough ammo because only one kind drops, and fixed ammo drops for other weapons can be sold for more medkits or whatever (which you also need less of since your gun's stronger and thus enemies are dead faster). Just like how Pokémon games become vastly easier if you just use one pokémon you put all experience, good moves and EVs into instead of struggling to raise 6 pokémon and having bad moves, few EVs and being underlevelled. Honestly was surprised to see a plasma cutter only run gets you a trophy considering how much easier it is than juggling 4.
Plasma cutter only impossible was actually not bad at all. I had like 400 ammo going into the last boss because it's basically the only ammo that drops when it's your only gun. Plus it gets upgraded quick because you only have the suit and plasma cutter to upgrade. Which also means HP, stasis, and kinesis get upgraded quickly as well. Biggest tip is to take your time. When in doubt, use stasis and reposition. Also every dead slasher drops 2 blades that you can throw at enemies to kill them or knock them down.
This is true. I never went below 200+ ammo when I just use the plasma cutter. Having it fully upgraded is more than enough. My only biggest threat in Cutter run only are those Swarmers, though lol.
Fun fact, Plasma Cutter only is actually the best way to complete it for multiple reasons. 1: When ammo drops, it'll only be for the weapons you currently have in your inventory, so with just a Plasma Cutter, you'll only get ammo for it. (The only exception is when you can get a new weapon, there will always be a couple drops of ammo near it, which you can just sell for credits) 2: You can upgrade your suit and gun faster cause you only have 2 items to upgrade, which can save a lot of time and money later on. 3: More inventory space to use. Since it's just 1 gun and 1 ammo type, you can have more ammo/health packs/ stasis packs available, and even pick up more conductors before having to sell them. 4: There's also a One Gun achievement, and we all know how fun going for achievements are.

I made the mistake of trusting the pulse rifle on a tentacle drag on my impossible run, i was so pissed i looked up a way i could cheese the challenge and i have no regrets abusing it
@@gamefan987 The game doesnt register your death until the game over screen pops up. in the middle of you dying or whatever death animation you're going through you can pause and exit to the main menu and reload where you last saved to save your sanity
I found that the impossible mode in this game was quite easy actually. I did it at the same time as using only the plasma cutter, and honestly I think that gave me an edge. The Plasma Cutter has an insane DPS and damage in general, as well as when you only use one weapon, you only get ammo for said weapon. So it's super efficient, on top of the ammo being very cheap if you need more. Another important note is that when you only use one weapon, you can upgrade it fully easily, as well as upgrading your RIG fully as well. Which helps a ton.
@@joshshin6819 I think Dead Space 2 is just a much harder game than the first one in general I guess they must have got feedback that the first game didn't really feel like a survival game
The original impossible mode is probably harder yeah, and that's because of 2 things. 1, the original forced guns into the shop. 2, it didn't lock exclusively ammo types
@Marc Harris Mercer actually modified his stasis module, which is why you find a version of it in his quarters. Not as advanced as the one he wields, but much more than if you never acquire it.
There's a slight cheat to this "perma death" thingy: if you call out the pause menu quick enough before the game thinks you are dead, you can go back to main menu and reload your impossible save, that is, if you are quick on that escape button
Yeap he said he was aware of it just wanted to avoid using it. Ironically that same trick works in alien isolation to avoid deaths counting for it's no death run achievement.

@@Snamwiches Did you know that the fans in the vents the necromorphs jump out of can be manually broken. The fans in them can be grabbed with the kenisis module and used as saw blades from the Half Life games.
2 things: At bossfights, you can throw those yello bombs with telekineses back at the fuckers. Second, if you slow down those vent blades, you can just fly through anytime, even if they hit you nothing will happen.
It was definitely stressful as all hell, but I didn't actually find it super difficult. If you play carefully and mind where the instant-death traps are, you can get by with quite a few mistakes. Also worth noting playing with only the plasma cutter is actually *easier*, because you only find ammo for weapons you have on you when you kill enemies.
It’s easier than impossible mode on the original yeah the original had infinite saves but it was actually harder this remakes impossible is just hard with 1 save
Unless you have luck like mine, where all you get is credits and stasis refills... then, once you utilize all those to try and survive, it gives nothing but small health packs around chapter 9... only to give you none of those when you go through them all and only give you ammo... I was either Broke, unable to shoot, unable to heal, unable to stasis, or any three-way combination for the entirety if the game. Edit; or if I'm really unlucky... nothing but O2 canisters during the Chapter aboard the USM Valor.

i beat impossible mode the day after the game came out. its first day i beat the game on hard, unlocked impossible then when i got up the next day i beat it on impossible on my first go. i always find it funny what impresses people on the internet, like this guys channel, this guy is a complete dolt when it comes to playing video games, like absolute brain dead dolt, and yet he makes these videos that get a lot of views and impress other brain dead dolts on the internet

You actually made the tethered asteroid part harder because once you shut off all the tethers the blades stop moving. So had you done the interiors first then exteriors it would have been easier
Really? But there are gravity tether things past the asteroid as well so you would have to go through the asteroid to destroy all of them. I will try only the first ones and see if it stops the spinning things.
This can be really easy if you stick to using one gun. So I did this run with a Plasma Cutter only which made my pickups pretty much credits, plasma rounds and other loot. You also have more power nodes to upgrade your suit and plasma cutter. You also will have more money as well to invest in health packs and ammo if you're running low. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to give this a blast :D Also love the video! Keep up the content.
I discovered your channel a few months ago, and I really enjoyed your content. I found Impossible mode quite enjoyable, and only hard in the beginning. Here are a few tips for those trying to get it. -I only used the plasma cutter most of the time and the ripper for a bit. Later I used only the cutter. -keep a second weapon on hand that you don’t use so you can pick up and sell the ammo for money. -you can refill you health by resetting your suit upgrades and putting the nodes back again for 5000 credits. -I don’t know if they patched it, but you can reload the save during the death animation and avoid the permanent death.
I can vouch that using only the plasma cutter on impossible difficulty isn't too difficult. It allows you to just upgrade your suit and gun and put money towards health, suit upgrades, and the ammo for the plasma cutter. Did this to kill two birds with one stone to get my platinum trophy. I will say it was stressful though 😅
For my Impossible run, I’ve been doing a simultaneous run on hard and doing parts of each chapter first on hard, and then immediately do the same thing in Impossible. It helps a lot! Edit: During boss fights where they throw the orange glowing balls at you, you can use kinesis to halt them and even throw them at the boss to do extra damage to it Update: Beat the game on Impossible my first try. It’s pretty easy if you use the line gun trap cheese.
I once thought all upgrades would be the worst achievement, yet I got it on chapter 10 in 2nd playthrough. It’s a huge relief not having to hoard credits for nodes anymore
Definitely went with the plasma cutter only for my impossible run. Focusing my nodes on it and my suit helped a lot, and making sure I always got ammo for the gun I had upgraded took stress off as well. Plasma Cutter, my true love.

Was just playing this and man, the remake NAILED the atmosphere and misdirection of Dead Space 1. Never has a game made me feel like being a teenager playing my first horror game until I played the remake and was like " ... Even the guns have new functions and the game expects you to use them to control the field. This is awesome. " Also some of the audio logs really nailed that harrowing " Oh this is bad. Real bad. " feeling like when Dallas is dismembering himself and the writers didn't do the cringe " Pain is meaningless to me " approach. He reacted realistically. Going " Oh God - God I can't-... RRRRGH! C'MON. ONE MORE. ONE MORE. " to hype himself back up and follow through. ( He was cutting off his own limbs with a standard, unmodified plasma cutter that most CEC engineers that did Zero-G debris clearing had on hand. He locked a bunch of the necromorphs in the rock breaking room and because he knew when he died, if the Marker wanted, it'd eventually raise him from the dead and make him attack his friends. So instead, he makes one final audio log and in that audio log he begins the process of dismembering himself because by this point he knows that the Marker in it's more primitive state has no need for something that can't be highly mobile and collect more biomass yet. )
To anyone looking to try this challenge, abuse stasis the game throws plenty of stasis packs at you and stick to the plasma cutter. Upgrading health, stasis, and ammo capacity with refill whatever you're upgrading.
I got this and the One Gun achievement in the same run. Honestly the "Plasma Cutter only" restriction actually helped more than it hurt. I was flush with ammo for pretty much the entire playthrough and dumped all my nodes into cutter and suit upgrades. Wasn't too bad, really.
I think what made this achievement pretty easy for me was the years of playing dead space and also just knowing that the enemies pretty much die if cutting the limbs off as well as using the necromorphs arms against each other lol
You can make this less stressful imo by using the line gun secondary fire, putting them on random boxes and stuff, then carrying them around like "lightsabers". It's like a moving safety net that when fully upgraded, completely shreds through necromorphs even on impossible. OR you can just do plasma cutter only because it is a solid gun throughout that has a lot of ammo if you run it solo
My method for getting through hard model and what I used in later impossible mode was I had an upgrade with the plasma cutter that gave your backhand knock back. So my method was to stasis, backhand so they'd fall on their back and proceed to stomp them to death. That's what I did for I'd say 80% of the encounters, especially at the beginning in my hard run. It was so efficient that I was running into the issue of having so much ammo at the end that I couldn't carry if all. It's also nice for backhanding the purple electrical door locks! Saves a shot

The necromorphs in Dead Space Remake being slower compared to the original Dead Space made the combat far easier. I don’t see them lunge or sprint at you in full speed unlike the original game. Most of them just, rapidly walk towards you instead.
There are definitely moments where the necromorph runs and even jumps at you, but stasis (especially if you did Mercer's side quest) really makes the game much, MUUUCH easier.
@@Snamwiches they do lunge at you occasionally in Dead Space Remake but they do not do that nearly as much as the original or Dead Space 2. From what I can tell, the harder the difficulty the quicker the necromorphs are in Dead Space Remake but they still aren't like the enemies in DS1 or DS2 where they are both faster and way more aggressive. Compared to your DS2 video where the enemies constantly pressured you and was on top of you more often. The DS Remake, they are slower (aside from the soldier necromorphs), so the way they offset the slower part is they spawn more of them behind you when they can instead.
I also think that they don't hyper pressure you because theyre far less reactive to pain. In 1 and 2, unless they're full maniac sprint, a single shot to a limb will cause a stagger state, which can be looped. This is why the Pulse Rifle is an unsung hero, fight me, the high capacity and fire rate can keep 5-6 necros at bay with a steady hand and disciplined trigger finger. Necros in the Remake don't seem to stagger unless theyre already missing a limb, or if you melee them.

Snam, you inspired me to go for this achievement when I thought I would never do it. Spent the last week going through it. Took me a little over 17 hours total (I did the master override and parts of side missions). Literally had nightmares, not from the monsters, but of me dying and not getting the achievement. It was very stressful. I’ll admit I quit out a couple times because I thought I was gonna get blown up or swallowed whole. On the final boss, you actually have a lot of time to shoot the yellow sac at the end. It dangles you for a long time. I think the rewards they give you are worth it, but I never wanna experience that kind of stress in a game again haha.
I'd almost say the plasma gun only run makes this actually easier because you almost never have to worry about ammo. The only place that's not true is those darn flappy flesh things that grab onto you where you really want the flamethrower. Edit: also NICE use of the Dead Rising mall music.
I found "stasis and stomp" to be fairly effective on those little bastards. Exploding tanks, even better. Thankfully they don't do nearly as much damage in the remake as they did in the original so even if you get caught it's not necessarily a run-killer.
In case anyone is wondering I found out that the asteroids in the ads cannon part do not insta kill you. Issac just just his little flip and take some damage.
Those who got this achievement, I raise my glass to you 🍷During my run, there was many close calls that I nearly bit the dust and had to start all over again. The regenerating necromorph The Hunter was my biggest concern as you know, you can't kill it before Chapter 11.

I attempted this with about 45 hours of 'experience' and I thought I was good to go, but my first visit to the Bridge was also my last as I underestimated my battle with the first Brute. I miscalculated what I THOUGHT was a death animation and well, it's back to the drawing board. This was my first video of yours and I gotta say, I like your content.
Just last week I did impossible using only the plasma cutter. I managed to do it legit but man that was a stressful run. I found the key is stasis, always have extra stasis ammo and medkits on your person at all times. That and make SURE to carry more ammo than you need. You do not want to run out. Since your only upgrading your suit and plasma cutter, you’ll have lots of extra cash for ammo and meds anyways.
As long as you get past the first 4 or 5 chapters it becomes relatively easy, In my playthrough I found that focusing on upgrading the plasma cutter and using upgrading your suits health when low on health as a free recover method. My go to weapons in the were the plasma cutter, line gun, force gun and completing side quests yielded great returns. Also quick tips: in many scenarios you don't have to kill the enemies you can simply run past some of these fights and abuse stasis and kinesis whenever possible. its more forgiving than what most people think.
I actually impossible mode flying color with plasma cutter only. It’s super easy once you know where they’re coming from and focus on damage on plasma.
Something else that'll help you identify which are dead or just playing dead is that fact that Isaac will actually stare at them while they're laying down, even if you're looking somewhere else his head will be facing the dormant necromorphs
I'm thankful I no-lifed the hell out of the original Dead Space when I was a kid, because I attempted this alongside the "Only use the Plasma Cutter" achievement at the same time. I did it second try, first try ended because I got too complacent and forgot that a Guardian was around a particular corner. Almost all of the enemy spawns and layout of the Isshimura are the same, so the knowledge carried over!
Neat tip: the fight at 8:41, if you grab one of the tables near the brute and shoot it at him. It will cheese him due to busted physics, but saves ammo.
The last two trophies I needed for that sweet, sweet platinum were One Gun and Untouchable. I can confirm. Going through Impossible with only the plasma cutter was honestly not that bad. With how much ammo you get and how quickly you can fully upgrade the plasma cutter, you can get through without much struggle... key word there is, "MUCH".
Impossible mode is hella easy man, I just did it. I followed the same formula as before, Epic Tier 3 Engineer! Beat the game on impossible using only the plasma cutter. Just use the plasma cutter, upgrade the shiat outta it, upgrade your RIG ASAP, and you’ll be golden! Impossible mode is so easy.
Playing this game on Impossible was the most stressful thing in my entire gaming history. Some tips: - Take two guns at most. Maximizes the ammo drops for both weapons and let's you upgrade both to the max. The two guns that worked for me are the Plasma Cutter and the Force Gun. Plasm Cutter for accuracy and stuff and the Force Gun for crowd control. - Keep Med Packs stacked. Always. - Use. Stasis. It's your life saver, your best weapon. Especially the experimental stasis. - Stomp. Conserve Ammo in the first hour or so. Shoot the legs off, stasis, stomp. You can do it, I believe in you.

For anyone looking to start an Impossible run but anxious about it here are some tips that might help
1)Its 1 life but not exactly 1 save. You're limited to one save slot that you may overwrite as many times as you wish but it is deleted on Isaac's death. So if you wished you could save after every encounter. Just make sure you've got the ammo for it :)
2) Speaking of ammo, kinesis is your friend. Everyone knows that ripping a spike from a necromorph can be used to spear it but there are other ways to deal damage without shooting a weapon.
2a)The fan blades off of vents are still very sharp and when thrown with kinesis can sever the legs if aimed just below the knee. And conveniently every Necromorph that breaks open a vent drops this kneecapper right in front of them ;)
2b) Fire extinguishers are all over the ship and act as small scale explosives if thrown. It's not much damage but enough to stagger an enemy or even blow off a limb of an already weakened enemy
2c) Any physics object you pick up can do small damage when thrown but more importantly they'll stun an enemy for a second giving you a moment to reposition or reload
3)Make the game give you ammo.
The game uses the same system as the original in that ammo drops are based on your currently equipped weapons as well as how much you have on hand. So that means if you have an overabundance of plasma cutter ammo the game wont give you any and either give you credits or another ammo type for a different tool that's running low. Anytime you get over 90 plasma cutter ammo throw it in the stores bank and you'll be surprised how much ammo the game starts throwing at you. For reference my Impossible run I ended up using just the Plasma cutter and the force gun. I would store plasma cutter ammo after 90 and force gun ammo after about 45. By chapter 8 my store had about 2 rows of plasma cutter ammo and 3 rows of force gun ammo. Anytime I got a little low I would just dip into the store for a quick refill back to my arbitrary limit.
At the final boss I had well over a 200 shots for each gun just sitting in the bank.
4) Health is important, but using a large health pack is a giant waste. There is no overhealing in this game so unless you're health is in the red a medium will do you just as well a large on in the long run.
Getting your hp full in this game just means you can take more hits, which if you're trying not to die is something you should be avoiding anyway. So either sell the large pack for credits or store them in the bank to be used for the final boss fight as a get out of jail free card
4b) Dont worry too much about getting your HP to its fullest at any point. Getting to 'green' is usually sufficient Being in green means your HP is at least 80% of its max. The remaining 20% sounds like a lot but really it equates to 1 maybe 2 more hits that you can take depending on your RiG upgrades.
At full upgrades you can take about 7 hits at full and when your in green it's about 6.
4c)Upgrades to your RIGs HP will automatically fill your health too. So if youre near a bench and low on health but have the nodes for an HP upgrade do it. This also applies even if you've reset the suits upgrades with credits. So its always an option to reset for 10k and use nodes to get back some but not all the HP upgrades you had previously. This will refill the health bar to full but now with spare nodes and spare full health refills to be used at your discretion
5) Stomp goes hard. About 3 stomps will break a necromorphs legs and about 4 more will kill it without using a single shot. If there is a Stasis recharge nearby abuse this combo to clear the room. Freeze stomp, repeat until the area is clear.
5c) complete the sidequest regarding the Hunters origins. This can only be started after chapter 5 by picking up the tissue sample in cryogenics after freezing the hunter. There will be some backtracking but the reward is an upgrade to stasis that causes it to do damage over time as well as freeze enemies
5d) find the plasma cutter upgrade weighted blades. This gives you a huge chance that Isaac's melee with the plasma cutter will knock a necromorph over. With stasis this seems to be even easier and 1 punch will knock an enemy over 75% of the time making them an easy stomp target

Thank you so much for these tips. I really thought you only had one save and had to play it in one (or two) go, like dead space 2, but it's just like dead space 3 now. And that ammo tip is a gamechanger.
I would say I heavily disagree with 4. The game seems to give just enough health to be fine but never safe. Like enough for a full heal and a half. If you have a maxed HP bar more drops will be large then medium as you have more HP to heal and in turn the game gives you bigger drops. I'm doing an upgrade less run and even in the later levels all my drops are small with the occasional medium. My first playthrough once I had max HP was nothing but large and the occasional medium. Don't skip on health upgrades, that can be very helpful.
7) Even though it will wipe your save you can copy it and put it on a flash drive it only wipes the memory of the device you chose to save it on, but not anything you copy it to. Save, dashboard out, and copy it to removable memory.
8) Hydrate, relax, turn off "scary" orchestra in settings, set something nice 😅

I didn't find it that bad if you load up on ammo and keep your distance in certain areas. I did get soft locked once and ran into invincible enemies in one room. They had me almost dead so I reset to the main menu and loaded the enemies died normally after that. It has to be a bug

That's not controversial at all, the plasma cutter is objectively the best gun in the entire game and by focusing all your nodes on just it and your rig, it becomes an absolute BEAST of a weapon.

Yeah. Fully-powered plasma cutter, stasis and Mercer's upgrade make impossible mode a joke. Ok, not a joke, but manageable.
While not on impossible mode, I did a medium run with the Plasma Cutter only and it was a walk in the park. By Chapter 11, the gun and my suit was fully upgraded, I had a total of around 350 ammo for the gun, tons of medkits and over 250k cash. I'm actually planning to do an impossible run the same way, except I'm planning to pick up the flamethrower this time, since it's great for crowd control. And it's also great against the enemies that are problematic with the Plasma Cutter, like the Swarm, the Dividers and the Guardians.
@@MartinVRS41 flamethrower is a very good choice. Do it. but I would recommend the force gun for close quarter surprises too if you want my recommendation
@@MartinVRS41 Pretty much. I feel like it's a bit of pokémon syndrome (earlier generations). Instead of having 4 weapons you node out a bit and struggle to keep a decent amount of ammo for, you instead have a fully kitted out gun with the upgrades, always enough ammo because only one kind drops, and fixed ammo drops for other weapons can be sold for more medkits or whatever (which you also need less of since your gun's stronger and thus enemies are dead faster). Just like how Pokémon games become vastly easier if you just use one pokémon you put all experience, good moves and EVs into instead of struggling to raise 6 pokémon and having bad moves, few EVs and being underlevelled.
Honestly was surprised to see a plasma cutter only run gets you a trophy considering how much easier it is than juggling 4.
Plasma cutter only impossible was actually not bad at all. I had like 400 ammo going into the last boss because it's basically the only ammo that drops when it's your only gun. Plus it gets upgraded quick because you only have the suit and plasma cutter to upgrade. Which also means HP, stasis, and kinesis get upgraded quickly as well.
Biggest tip is to take your time. When in doubt, use stasis and reposition. Also every dead slasher drops 2 blades that you can throw at enemies to kill them or knock them down.
This is true. I never went below 200+ ammo when I just use the plasma cutter. Having it fully upgraded is more than enough. My only biggest threat in Cutter run only are those Swarmers, though lol.
Using only the plasma cutter actually makes the game infinitely easier.
Fun fact, Plasma Cutter only is actually the best way to complete it for multiple reasons.
1: When ammo drops, it'll only be for the weapons you currently have in your inventory, so with just a Plasma Cutter, you'll only get ammo for it. (The only exception is when you can get a new weapon, there will always be a couple drops of ammo near it, which you can just sell for credits)
2: You can upgrade your suit and gun faster cause you only have 2 items to upgrade, which can save a lot of time and money later on.
3: More inventory space to use. Since it's just 1 gun and 1 ammo type, you can have more ammo/health packs/ stasis packs available, and even pick up more conductors before having to sell them.
4: There's also a One Gun achievement, and we all know how fun going for achievements are.

@@gamefan987 The game doesnt register your death until the game over screen pops up. in the middle of you dying or whatever death animation you're going through you can pause and exit to the main menu and reload where you last saved to save your sanity

I found that the impossible mode in this game was quite easy actually. I did it at the same time as using only the plasma cutter, and honestly I think that gave me an edge. The Plasma Cutter has an insane DPS and damage in general, as well as when you only use one weapon, you only get ammo for said weapon. So it's super efficient, on top of the ammo being very cheap if you need more. Another important note is that when you only use one weapon, you can upgrade it fully easily, as well as upgrading your RIG fully as well. Which helps a ton.
The hardest impossible run for me was always DS 2 for some reason. I did it in part 3

The original impossible mode is probably harder yeah, and that's because of 2 things.
1, the original forced guns into the shop.
2, it didn't lock exclusively ammo types

Not only does Mercer's stasis last an eternity, it also freezes you completely instead of just slowing you down.

@Marc Harris Mercer actually modified his stasis module, which is why you find a version of it in his quarters. Not as advanced as the one he wields, but much more than if you never acquire it.

There's a slight cheat to this "perma death" thingy: if you call out the pause menu quick enough before the game thinks you are dead, you can go back to main menu and reload your impossible save, that is, if you are quick on that escape button
Yeap he said he was aware of it just wanted to avoid using it. Ironically that same trick works in alien isolation to avoid deaths counting for it's no death run achievement.

Did you know that the fans in the vents the necromorphs jump out of can be manually broken. The fans in them can be grabbed with the kenisis module and used as saw blades from the Half Life games.
2 things: At bossfights, you can throw those yello bombs with telekineses back at the fuckers. Second, if you slow down those vent blades, you can just fly through anytime, even if they hit you nothing will happen.
It was definitely stressful as all hell, but I didn't actually find it super difficult. If you play carefully and mind where the instant-death traps are, you can get by with quite a few mistakes. Also worth noting playing with only the plasma cutter is actually *easier*, because you only find ammo for weapons you have on you when you kill enemies.
It’s easier than impossible mode on the original yeah the original had infinite saves but it was actually harder this remakes impossible is just hard with 1 save
Unless you have luck like mine, where all you get is credits and stasis refills... then, once you utilize all those to try and survive, it gives nothing but small health packs around chapter 9... only to give you none of those when you go through them all and only give you ammo... I was either Broke, unable to shoot, unable to heal, unable to stasis, or any three-way combination for the entirety if the game.
Edit; or if I'm really unlucky... nothing but O2 canisters during the Chapter aboard the USM Valor.

You actually made the tethered asteroid part harder because once you shut off all the tethers the blades stop moving. So had you done the interiors first then exteriors it would have been easier
Really? But there are gravity tether things past the asteroid as well so you would have to go through the asteroid to destroy all of them. I will try only the first ones and see if it stops the spinning things.
This can be really easy if you stick to using one gun. So I did this run with a Plasma Cutter only which made my pickups pretty much credits, plasma rounds and other loot. You also have more power nodes to upgrade your suit and plasma cutter. You also will have more money as well to invest in health packs and ammo if you're running low. Hope this helps for anyone who is looking to give this a blast :D

I discovered your channel a few months ago, and I really enjoyed your content.
I found Impossible mode quite enjoyable, and only hard in the beginning. Here are a few tips for those trying to get it.
-I only used the plasma cutter most of the time and the ripper for a bit. Later I used only the cutter.
-keep a second weapon on hand that you don’t use so you can pick up and sell the ammo for money.
-you can refill you health by resetting your suit upgrades and putting the nodes back again for 5000 credits.
-I don’t know if they patched it, but you can reload the save during the death animation and avoid the permanent death.
I can vouch that using only the plasma cutter on impossible difficulty isn't too difficult. It allows you to just upgrade your suit and gun and put money towards health, suit upgrades, and the ammo for the plasma cutter. Did this to kill two birds with one stone to get my platinum trophy. I will say it was stressful though 😅
For my Impossible run, I’ve been doing a simultaneous run on hard and doing parts of each chapter first on hard, and then immediately do the same thing in Impossible. It helps a lot!
Edit: During boss fights where they throw the orange glowing balls at you, you can use kinesis to halt them and even throw them at the boss to do extra damage to it
Update: Beat the game on Impossible my first try. It’s pretty easy if you use the line gun trap cheese.

Definitely went with the plasma cutter only for my impossible run. Focusing my nodes on it and my suit helped a lot, and making sure I always got ammo for the gun I had upgraded took stress off as well. Plasma Cutter, my true love.

Was just playing this and man, the remake NAILED the atmosphere and misdirection of Dead Space 1. Never has a game made me feel like being a teenager playing my first horror game until I played the remake and was like " ... Even the guns have new functions and the game expects you to use them to control the field. This is awesome. "
Also some of the audio logs really nailed that harrowing " Oh this is bad. Real bad. " feeling like when Dallas is dismembering himself and the writers didn't do the cringe " Pain is meaningless to me " approach. He reacted realistically. Going " Oh God - God I can't-... RRRRGH! C'MON. ONE MORE. ONE MORE. " to hype himself back up and follow through. ( He was cutting off his own limbs with a standard, unmodified plasma cutter that most CEC engineers that did Zero-G debris clearing had on hand. He locked a bunch of the necromorphs in the rock breaking room and because he knew when he died, if the Marker wanted, it'd eventually raise him from the dead and make him attack his friends. So instead, he makes one final audio log and in that audio log he begins the process of dismembering himself because by this point he knows that the Marker in it's more primitive state has no need for something that can't be highly mobile and collect more biomass yet. )
To anyone looking to try this challenge, abuse stasis the game throws plenty of stasis packs at you and stick to the plasma cutter. Upgrading health, stasis, and ammo capacity with refill whatever you're upgrading.

I got this and the One Gun achievement in the same run. Honestly the "Plasma Cutter only" restriction actually helped more than it hurt. I was flush with ammo for pretty much the entire playthrough and dumped all my nodes into cutter and suit upgrades. Wasn't too bad, really.
That initial analogy of a sickly Victorian child left me in a coughing fit…like a sickly Victorian child…
I think what made this achievement pretty easy for me was the years of playing dead space and also just knowing that the enemies pretty much die if cutting the limbs off as well as using the necromorphs arms against each other lol
You can make this less stressful imo by using the line gun secondary fire, putting them on random boxes and stuff, then carrying them around like "lightsabers". It's like a moving safety net that when fully upgraded, completely shreds through necromorphs even on impossible.
OR you can just do plasma cutter only because it is a solid gun throughout that has a lot of ammo if you run it solo

My method for getting through hard model and what I used in later impossible mode was I had an upgrade with the plasma cutter that gave your backhand knock back. So my method was to stasis, backhand so they'd fall on their back and proceed to stomp them to death. That's what I did for I'd say 80% of the encounters, especially at the beginning in my hard run. It was so efficient that I was running into the issue of having so much ammo at the end that I couldn't carry if all. It's also nice for backhanding the purple electrical door locks! Saves a shot

The necromorphs in Dead Space Remake being slower compared to the original Dead Space made the combat far easier.
I don’t see them lunge or sprint at you in full speed unlike the original game. Most of them just, rapidly walk towards you instead.
Ohhh now that you mention it, that makes total sense. I never felt like I was being pressured super hard in this game like I did back when I did DS2
There are definitely moments where the necromorph runs and even jumps at you, but stasis (especially if you did Mercer's side quest) really makes the game much, MUUUCH easier.
@@Snamwiches they do lunge at you occasionally in Dead Space Remake but they do not do that nearly as much as the original or Dead Space 2. From what I can tell, the harder the difficulty the quicker the necromorphs are in Dead Space Remake but they still aren't like the enemies in DS1 or DS2 where they are both faster and way more aggressive.
Compared to your DS2 video where the enemies constantly pressured you and was on top of you more often. The DS Remake, they are slower (aside from the soldier necromorphs), so the way they offset the slower part is they spawn more of them behind you when they can instead.
I played on hard and they run faster and are more aggressive
I also think that they don't hyper pressure you because theyre far less reactive to pain.
In 1 and 2, unless they're full maniac sprint, a single shot to a limb will cause a stagger state, which can be looped. This is why the Pulse Rifle is an unsung hero, fight me, the high capacity and fire rate can keep 5-6 necros at bay with a steady hand and disciplined trigger finger.
Necros in the Remake don't seem to stagger unless theyre already missing a limb, or if you melee them.

Literally brilliant
Snam, you inspired me to go for this achievement when I thought I would never do it. Spent the last week going through it. Took me a little over 17 hours total (I did the master override and parts of side missions). Literally had nightmares, not from the monsters, but of me dying and not getting the achievement. It was very stressful. I’ll admit I quit out a couple times because I thought I was gonna get blown up or swallowed whole. On the final boss, you actually have a lot of time to shoot the yellow sac at the end. It dangles you for a long time. I think the rewards they give you are worth it, but I never wanna experience that kind of stress in a game again haha.
I'd almost say the plasma gun only run makes this actually easier because you almost never have to worry about ammo.
The only place that's not true is those darn flappy flesh things that grab onto you where you really want the flamethrower.

I found "stasis and stomp" to be fairly effective on those little bastards. Exploding tanks, even better.
Thankfully they don't do nearly as much damage in the remake as they did in the original so even if you get caught it's not necessarily a run-killer.
In case anyone is wondering I found out that the asteroids in the ads cannon part do not insta kill you. Issac just just his little flip and take some damage.
Those who got this achievement, I raise my glass to you 🍷During my run, there was many close calls that I nearly bit the dust and had to start all over again. The regenerating necromorph The Hunter was my biggest concern as you know, you can't kill it before Chapter 11.

Just last week I did impossible using only the plasma cutter. I managed to do it legit but man that was a stressful run.
I found the key is stasis, always have extra stasis ammo and medkits on your person at all times. That and make SURE to carry more ammo than you need. You do not want to run out.
Since your only upgrading your suit and plasma cutter, you’ll have lots of extra cash for ammo and meds anyways.
100%, that’s why I said plasma cutter only seems really doable. Stasis is for sure a must in this game as well!
As long as you get past the first 4 or 5 chapters it becomes relatively easy, In my playthrough I found that focusing on upgrading the plasma cutter and using upgrading your suits health when low on health as a free recover method. My go to weapons in the were the plasma cutter, line gun, force gun and completing side quests yielded great returns. Also quick tips: in many scenarios you don't have to kill the enemies you can simply run past some of these fights and abuse stasis and kinesis whenever possible. its more forgiving than what most people think.
I actually impossible mode flying color with plasma cutter only. It’s super easy once you know where they’re coming from and focus on damage on plasma.
Something else that'll help you identify which are dead or just playing dead is that fact that Isaac will actually stare at them while they're laying down, even if you're looking somewhere else his head will be facing the dormant necromorphs

I'm thankful I no-lifed the hell out of the original Dead Space when I was a kid, because I attempted this alongside the "Only use the Plasma Cutter" achievement at the same time. I did it second try, first try ended because I got too complacent and forgot that a Guardian was around a particular corner. Almost all of the enemy spawns and layout of the Isshimura are the same, so the knowledge carried over!
9:49 ended my run, meteor is a hit kill, body explodes😂🤡 pretty scary this part

Neat tip: the fight at 8:41, if you grab one of the tables near the brute and shoot it at him. It will cheese him due to busted physics, but saves ammo.
Man I need the music that starts when he has to fight waves of enemy's when the marker is being moved, it sounds so good!
I was only able to get this and platinum the game by cheesing it.

The last two trophies I needed for that sweet, sweet platinum were One Gun and Untouchable. I can confirm. Going through Impossible with only the plasma cutter was honestly not that bad. With how much ammo you get and how quickly you can fully upgrade the plasma cutter, you can get through without much struggle... key word there is, "MUCH".

Impossible mode is hella easy man, I just did it. I followed the same formula as before, Epic Tier 3 Engineer! Beat the game on impossible using only the plasma cutter. Just use the plasma cutter, upgrade the shiat outta it, upgrade your RIG ASAP, and you’ll be golden! Impossible mode is so easy.
Playing this game on Impossible was the most stressful thing in my entire gaming history.
Some tips:
- Take two guns at most. Maximizes the ammo drops for both weapons and let's you upgrade both to the max.
The two guns that worked for me are the Plasma Cutter and the Force Gun. Plasm Cutter for accuracy and stuff and the Force Gun for crowd control.
- Keep Med Packs stacked. Always.
- Use. Stasis. It's your life saver, your best weapon. Especially the experimental stasis.
- Stomp. Conserve Ammo in the first hour or so. Shoot the legs off, stasis, stomp.
You can do it, I believe in you.
I learned from this video that you can use health kits by pressing B rather than opening the inventory screen. That would have been helpful
