    Hi @miragebg1981.
    As there is (unfortunatly) no more notebook review forum (then no more photos and comments about your cards and work to upgrade HP Elitebook 8770w...) could you please share (here) once again the :
    -> EDID chip to use on nvidia quadro P5000 and P5200 card to be able to update with the latest nvidia driver update
    -> wifi/bluetooth card
    -> wlan (for sim card) card
    To get an idea of which products we can use (there is a bunch of brands and references which seem similar to yours but aren't compatible with 8770W mother board), could you please share a few links from aliexpress/amazon/etc to some comptible products with 8770w
    Thanks a lot for your advice

    @miragebg1981 thanks for the video.
    A few days ago, I have upgraded my hp 8770w from [FHD screen (UAO panel) + Quadro K3000 mobile] to [FHD DreamColor screen (lg LP173WF3-SLB3 panel + controller + cable 50pins) + Quadro P5000 mobile for hp zbook].
    But...in the windows10 device manager
    1. monitor is not recognized (windows 10 plugged it as non Plug and Play Generic panel)
    2. graphic card is not recognized (windows 10 plugged it as microsoft basic display adapter with error 31 on P5000 device)
    3. the screen works as basic Full HD screen with basic set of colors
    4. the directX diagnostic tool can see the P5000 and the fact that microsoft driver is managing it
    5. GPU-Z sees only the microsoft basic display adapter but its specs are the P5000s'
    I've uninstalled all related drivers (thru DDU process) and try to re-install them. But nVIDIA driver fails to install each time.
    My bios is the latest (2019 version)
    Did you face such a situation? Do you have an idea about the reasons why and how to solved it?

    • @merlin3202
      @merlin3202 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @miragebg1981: thanks to the link to the notebookreview forum. I found there everything needed to solve the issues:
      1. windows boot partition MUST BE GPT
      2. The bios boot HAVE to be set at 100% UEFI (mine was legacy bios)
      3. clean fresh install of windows 10 from live usb key (also prepared to boot in UEFI mode)
      4. nvidia Quadro P5000 mobile driver (.inf file) has to be updated manually with computer code of HP EliteBook 8770w matching with graphic card code. I took driver version 390.77
      Conclusion: everything works. Now I have to test it
      Many thanks for all the advice you shared in that forum!

      16GB vs 8GB vRam is not really something which would give you great benefits unless you do A LOT of CAD/CAM stuff. P5000 is limited hence its locked memory clock = 0 O/C capabilities...

      Hi, most Chinese 1070 MXM (the one shown on the videoclip - the black Quadro’s PCB) will throttle to some degree as they are up to 125W max TDP. Now I have MSI 1070 and it rarely does as it reach its native 115W up to max 120W. My PSU is 230W, but I tried up to 330W and it still throttles. If you look at the FS graphic scores - everything is within the normal range as a performance.

      zBook 17 G2 is nowhere as upgradable as 8770W is. 1070 on zBook 17 G2 is not possible.
      The look of the both laptops is really a personal feeling and taste. I do prefer any day the sturdy look of the 8770W. zBook 17 G1/2 looks too much Acer-ish to me.

    • @miragebg1981
      @miragebg1981  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dookie Duuk 8760W is Sandy Bridge based laptop and it is known of being really hot platform. 8770W is way cooler as the 3.Gen Intel CPUs tends to be way cooler compared to the 2.Gen.
      As I said, zBooks are way less compatible with third party GPUs comparing to 8770W (8760W is bad as compatibility too).
      I’ve seen people trying to put 1070 in zbooks without luck. Besides , a DC screen is a must for Pascal GPUs, so if your screen is the normal FullHD, you have zero chance to make 1060/1070 working on your system.
      GTX 980m in zBook 17 G1/2 is hit or miss - 50/50, it might or it might not work. Depends on the vBios of the GPU, but generally said- the system bios of the zBooks is way too restricted to accept such an upgrades. Thats why the 8770W is still the king of the upgrades, accepts everything up to GTX 980m (with normal FullHD screen) and up to GTX 1070 (with DreamColor screen). Most probably will work with Quadros RTX 3000/4000/5000 too.

      Dookie Duuk vBios itself is not the root of the problem but the system bios. Unfortunately there is no unlocked system bioses for HP as the engineers from HP lock it down.
      For the 8770W is also not possible to use unlocked/modded system bios but at least its restrictions are way less by default, compared to zBooks 17

    • @miragebg1981
      @miragebg1981  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, most probably P4200/5200 won’t work on 8770W. The problem is that they don’t have soldered vBios chip on board, as they use the system bios of the notebook they are intended to work with. You will get yourself in trouble to buy separately vBios chip and manually solder it on the pcb and still there is no guarantee it will work..
      Better get GTX 1070. It is just plug and play (only MSI GTX 1070 needs a bit grinding of the heatsink)
