I have an Elitebook 8770W with the Dreamcolor panel. Would an MSI 1070m get recognised by the 8770W and work?
Yes. It’s the best version of 1070 and will work without problems

Hello, I am thinking about buying 3x EliteBook 8560w models (not 8570w) and all 3 systems have Dreamcolor, but all 3 systems also have a purple/pink display problem. Do you know if this is real damage or missing drivers? Can you tell me anything about this before I buy this pack of 3 laptops?
Purple problem is wrong calibration. Buy a color calibrator and it will fix the problem
@miragebg1981 Good to hear back from you! I appreciate that you are still reading and responding many years later. This comment thread has more knowledge than some web forums. I have another question. The 8560w should accept the MXM-a GTX 1650, right? As long as it has Dreamcolor? I've seen people upgrade the 8560w and 8570w with a 965M but never the GTX 1650. I did it myself. I upgraded my previous 8570w with a 965M but I had to sell. I'm trying to collect a few Dreamcolor models and I would like to add the GTX 1650 to the 8560w. As far as I can tell the GTX 1650 is the most powerful MXM-a card that exists. Anything more powerful is MXM-b which cannot fit.
@@anthonybf2 I think 8X60W series were way too picky for GPU upgrades. I had problems with 980M on it whereas I had zero problems on 8X70W.. So , much better compatibility with 8X70W
@@miragebg1981 Well, I saw several of people who put 965M inside the 8560w, but do you think the 1650 would work? 965M is still good enough but I want to upgrade with 1650 if possible.
@@anthonybf2 honestly, I’ve never tried 1650. You have to try it yourself, but in my opinion there is a better chance to work with 8570W. I’ve never tried 10.Series GPUs with 8X60W…
Hello, I need a little advise with my 8770w upgrade. I bought the Quadro P5000 16GB Vram for a good price and I heard DC display is required for this GPU. It wont work with regular IPS display. My question is what else will I need besides a DC display to be able to get this card working in my laptop. What should i get? I cant wait for that. Thank you :)
Just DC display with the color board is enough for P5000
@@miragebg1981 thanks, Is that color board integrated in DC display? I can buy DC display without 50 pin cable, so I will buy cable separately. Will that 50 pin cable fit the motherboard on the second side if normal display uses 40 pin connector?
If you have the entire DC assembly (lid, display, cables) , then the color board is integrated. If you buy the panel alone, you have to buy additionally the Color board and cables from the DC screen to color board and from color board to motherboard. But I don‘t remember the S/N of the parts, it‘s been a long time since I don‘t own the 8770W

Yes, as long as you find a color board and cables which convert the signal from LVDS to eDP. Pretty much impossible to be found nowadays.

No, 1080 needs additional power connection. The only one without is MSi 1080, but there you have all the elements at different places on the PCB and heavy custom heatsink mod would be a must.

@@onlyvik yes, the screens for 8760 and 8770 are interchangeable. The only difference is 8760W has light sensor. In order to get the full brightness working you will need to install the DC software for the 8760‘s version of DC. Your M4000 will work without problem with DC screen.

Any way to get screen colour calibration working for 8770w? It used to work up until one of the Windows 7 (yes) updates. 8760W is bad for updates... Sandy bridge supports max 980M, but you need pure UEFI Win 10 to achieve this and disabled fast boot option in bios and OS. 2620m will bottleneck 980M. You need at least 2860QM.

GTX 1070 is more powerful and clocks more. You can reach pretty much above P5200 performance level with it.
