    I am a ret. out board Boat mech. tip!!! Hint yes yes yes you can use WD 40 as starting fluid.
    Yes it really does work and will boost compression as well if rings are stuck.

    Thanks for the great video. Been dinking around with an LT133 that won't start. New fuel pickup, cap, filter, pump and hose. Fuel is pumping up to the carb and I have spark. You got me convinced it's the old carb on this 25 year old mower.

  • @justinvegan
    @justinvegan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just went through all this on one of my 155's I picked up. I wanted to recommend that you put another 150-75 micron fuel filter in the rubber hose going into the carb. This motor has the metal fuel line running under the heat shield that tends to rust up & get debris into the carb. Thanks for the vids!

    • @Mike-su8si
      @Mike-su8si 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine has a aluminum line through that part

    • @justinvegan
      @justinvegan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mike-su8si That's interesting... Perhaps mine is Aluminium as well BUT it still had "rusty build up" inside of that tube. I sand blasted it in/out & painted it. Either way, from my angle, a filter is still needed at that location. It's a tight spot but a pancake style filter will fit.

    • @Mike-su8si
      @Mike-su8si 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@justinvegan yeah more filters are better i only have one on mine but still have to put a new gas line on from the tank to the filter
      The guy i got the mower from said the engine was rebuilt and it was but they never put new line on i redone all the small pieces so just have the long piece to do.
      You could probably use a piece of aluminum brake line or order one thats made for the engine

    Picked one of these up a few weeks ago off craigslist, kinda similar problem set, new battery, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, and a cleaned carb are all it's really needed. One of the weirder issues I did have was the float valve needle was stuck on mine, which is what was causing it to flood. The "gasoline" in the tank did get it to run initially, but it was more like lamp oil than gasoline and once the machine was stopped would turn into dried up soda. I did pump it all out through the fuel lines with a siphon pump, put some fresh gas in, got it fired up and went for a trip around the yard. Unfortunately, my factory air cleaner had been replaced by some goofy kinda thing, have to see if I can find that part. Thanks for the debugging help.

    Good Job, People Think Their Time Is SO Valuable That They Can Out Price Themselves Of Work. Even Qualified Mower Mechanics Think Their Time Is So Valuable It's Ridiculous . They Think They DESERVE To Charge Stupid Prices Per Hour.. I Would Rather Have Worked On A Mower For $ 50 P/H & Get Work, Then Charge $ 100 P/H And Get No Work. It Comes Down To Part Costs Etc. A Honest Mechanic Can Still Make Money. Simply Swapping a Carburettor Is Being Lazy.. Not Many Carbs Need Replacing, Just A Good Clean.. And That's My 2 Cents Worth For Many Mechanics

    • @bertgrau3934

      Like the gentleman said, do you charge the customer for the time to clean or just put on a new carburetor? Even at $50 an hour for labor, a new carburetor can cost less than $30 . So spend an hour cleaning, or a new carburetor? I charge $65 shop hour. I prefer to rebuild, but sometimes that will cost more than a new carburetor. To keep cost down for the customer sometimes the new is cheaper than to rebuild.
      If it's for myself, I will take the time to rebuild.

I don't care if it takes me half an hour to degrease the engine etc. I will charge what ever it cost me in a can of degreaser to replace the can. Cleaning by pressure washer is quick & Easy. I quit using mine because each new replaced bowl of the carburetor bowl corrodes inside and causes problems with the plastic float there's no other problems with those Kohler engines all the main problem is is the carburetor bowl
    I ain't gonna keep wasting my money on new carburetors just for the bowl that corrodes in a few months so i use to like those engines but not no more its not the gas causing the problem or my briggs wouldn't keep working its Kohlers replacement carburetor bowls metal isn't treated right from whoever is making those parts
    Thats why I'd like to buy 2 more craftsmen 18 hp intek briggs engine or john deere briggs they're the same exact single cylinder
