Do you transfer the dipstick to the replacement transmission? Im trying to salvage a trans and i dont think ill have the clearance unless i remove it, just wondering how its mounted
I used to have two Impalas. One was a 2003 LS with the 3.8 V-6, and the other a 2005 with the 3.4 V-6. Both had to have transmission replacements. When you reach 65,000 to 70,000 miles the transmissions are junk. The Chevy dealer, and Buick dealers service department tells you there is a clutch inside the transmission that wears out that engages the first gear. They also say they all do it. The same transmission also appeared in the Buick Century, Skylark, and LeSabre. Some people think the problem is a cheap fix solonoid, but it is not that.
@@edocsil1635 I was changing the fluid and filter every 25,000 miles. That did not help. The transmission is the 4T65E, and is prone to failure. The clutch inside the transmission wears out.
I'm at 215 and trans just started slamming into gear and then be smooth at times with long shifts mixed in which getting a power train code for, but I love my 3.8l she still has life did upper and lower intake, valve gaskets and was gonna go timing chain and apparently transmission but debating line of attack here, any suggestions appreciated

Currently diagnosing a non working transmission in a 2010 impala. I have a feeling I'll just be replacing it. Great video. Do you think you could've gotten away with sneaking the transmission out without dropping the cradle?
I have a 2004 chevy impala base 3.8L v6 and when i go to drive it ill put it in drive then it slowly move are i gotta push it to move then i have to push on the gas more than what i should have to is that the transmission are what because when i scan it the only code that pop up is p0420

Which side, the neutral safety switch is connected to the steering colum area, replaced blinker/brights/cruise lever and believe it connected to that harness if not its right there on backside of steering column more to passenger side
I have taken them out without the cradle but it was more work trying to find a short cut and that was the one that I pulled to replace the one I had in my car. I would never do that at work and I rather do it on the floor so I only have to bolt the cradle back up and I have pulled the those engines from the top. I went to school to be a mechanic but still fucked up a ton of shit when I moved up from lube tech to mechanic and thats pretty much how it goes for most people well males female mechanics from my experience seem to mess up less I guess its the way their brain is wired but after a few years of doing it on a daily bases it gets easy you don't really see it at first but others do and by then you realize you should have picked a different profession. I LOVE ETERNAL COMBUSTION AND I HATE TOO.

Maybe set a camera back a bit to video. Your head was moving around too much and fast I felt like I had Vertigo. Not a complaining thanks for the video just a suggestion. This was vey hard to watch and I had to fast forward most of it my head was spinning.
Sounds like a mechanic or should I say tech doing a video sounds like most guys in the business to me but what I think dont matter but the video was good enough to help people that have little or no experience remove a tranny I wish I had this tool when I was a kid. Great video it should help my nephew out while I watch him take a few days to get the same job done.
is this better/easier than pulling the motor and trans together from the top or dropping the engine and trans with the cradle
Bro. You were so hyped during this tear down. DONT PLAY WITH ME. BOTH TIRES 😂😂😂. bro. Love it. Great video. Thanks for sharing!!
Haha, I can't help but get hyped when tearing things down! Thanks for watching, bro!

Ok.. 🫵😉
Was gonna buy a 2008 Impala ss to flip, but I'm not putting myself thru this. Thanks for the vid
What did you take before recording this

This ^ I’m going to be carless for a gooood while thanks to the 3.8 trans. I barely passed 100k on the engine and trans before it pooed
Do you change the filter and fluid at 50k miles or less?

No no no.....you have to drop the cradle. There is no other way.
Thanks for watching 👀 🙂 🙏
@@AxtuoAx did you put something to hold the motor up when you took the cradle off or is the 2 remaining mounts enough?

Thank you for the video I'm working on a 2006 right now it's a lot of help.
What trannies would work on a 2008 impala ss with 5.3, what years and trim levels will work if I get from a junkyard?

Does it go in reverse? Does it go when you select gear 1 ? If so then probably the forward band is broken. Very common problem with this transmission.
Do you have a video installing a transmission in the Impala
The same way you remove it, the same way you install it, and that's it.

May be can you help me, I have impala 2007, can I install transmission from 2006 or 2008 year?
They are different series. Although, you can try it if they match
Have a question what tools do I need to remove the transmission out of the 07 Impala? 3.5
Did you watch the video? Yes? Good....because all the tools you need are in there
Chevrolet should have had a recall for their transmissions
This it the same for any model between 2000-2009???
Yes they are...8th generation 2000-2006 and 9th generation 2007 - 2015!!!!
Thanks for watching!!!!!
GRRAT DETAILED VIDEO BRO!!!
Appreciate it!

Where you from?
Super thanks!

Where did you learn to become a mechanic, was it self taught and you had to mess up to become good or did you go to trade school?
Very very Good question!
