    That's impressive as hell. Sad that this is one of the few fields that people want to penalize you for being good at your job. I spent several years as a Mercedes tech and now 11 years as a business owner and of course we do things quick and should get paid the book time. You deserve every bit of the book time because you have spent the time to perfect a skill.

      I agree with that statement 100%! Book time sucks, if you're paying it, BUT, I'm a true believer in paying

      Customers are charged from a flat rate book, I think flat rate pays 5 hours to R&R a 4T65E, that's how techs make money, and believe me, after high dollar tool payments they really don't clear much. I done auto repair for 35+ years so I know how it all works. This young man is impressive. I think it's great that the younger generation gets their hands dirty to make an honest living.

    Done a few of these would of been nice if they would of made the cradles come apart in 2 pieces like the 90s and early 2000 all u would have to do is unbolt the corner were transmission is u didn't have to mess with the rack and pinion or engine mount it was just alot easier when the internet came apart great video

    After removing the engine cradle sub-frame, what was holding the engine in the car? was it the upper motor mounts? I was just curious. I have no experience removing transmissions or engines.

      That red engine hanger on top of car with two chains on engine. You could probably use a 4x4 or some square tubing and chain also.

    Thanks a lot Alex!!!
    Well it does need some work but nothing too major. Just enough where I couldn't get much for it so I suppose fixing would be best. Any clue what a job like that should run. I know it varies on location but a ball park maybe. And what about a salvage yard one. Could it be cheaper to swap one out. I just passed 100,000 miles on this. Need repair or replace door lock and window motor, fan shroud assembly, hit deer An minor dent in hood and bumper grill & side mirror, and had/has something something electrical draining battery. Plus rebuilt title. Paid too much for it to not do something. May give to one of my kids to let them worry with.
    I have a 01 montero with no key & needs hydrolic break booster that's been hard or impossible almost to find and way expensive if I did. I found one that threw a rod in crankcase I was told with over 300,000 and looks brand new. Has had everything else mechanical replaced. The tires are worth more than what I can get it for. Any tips. I figured quickest easiest An cheapest for now would be change braak booster and find way to open it to get rekeyed. Do you agree?

    • @alexwittich8628
      @alexwittich8628  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe around $2000 to get rebuilt,used unit would be cheaper but higher risk of failure and lesser warranty.
      Some dealers can replace key with just title...id start there.
      There used to be shops that rebuilt break boosters don't know if they still exist.

    That was an awesome job man! I used this as a guide to help me replace my transmission. But I am stuck, I put everything back but one battery cord. It is the opposite end of the negative terminal, it is by the starter. If you know what I am talking about can you help me, I can't remember where I need to put that connection.

    That was a 4t65e? I didn't get a real good look at it once you got it out but it looks allot different than the older ones? Or just a different side cover?

      very similar, You will need to remove exhaust crossover pipe on top to access bell housing bolts.

    Alex Wittich I have a question I have a 06 impala 3.5 has 225,xxx miles on it. Once the car is on drive the transmission is not engaging 1st gear until engine revs up to about 2500 rpms. if I drop it manually to 1st gear it gets goin as soon as I push the pedal

    • @genisisbravo7693
      @genisisbravo7693 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry question is do you know what could be the problem?

    • @cantstandya112
      @cantstandya112 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Genisis Bravo varnish and buildup in the valve body. The scenario you described I've seen all the way back to the 4t60 non E transmissions. It is also one of the rare occasions where "mechanic in a bottle" fixes it. A bottle of TransX has fixed this now 14 of 14 times. Takes about 20 miles of driving to fully work, but it has worked every single time. Lucas and other stuff doesn't work.

    You just literally saved my life... What is most often wrong with the 4t65E transmissions you have to swap out?

    • @alexwittich8628
      @alexwittich8628  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We rebuild all transmissions,but with that unit usually a number of things..bands break,torque convertor failure,4th clutch hub strips,differential failure. code p1811 maximum adapt shift is also common.

    • @raymondcoffey3688
      @raymondcoffey3688 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, your video helped me replace my transmission over the weekend. GREATLY appreciated.
      In other news, my traded transmission generated a p0700 and p0742.. Yay me.

    • @alexwittich8628
      @alexwittich8628  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah that sucks. if code wasn't there before,maybe visually check your plug pins/wiring. Try clearing code,how long does it take to set p0742? possible bad tcc solenoid, internal wiring ? Try looking your year model and code up for a procedure for p0742. p0700 is odd in a gm idk but just focus on the p0742. good luck

    • @raymondcoffey3688
      @raymondcoffey3688 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Wittich Thx for the info. the p0742 only comes up after a trip up a long and gradual grade. I want to say I even heard the atf bubbling after I got where I was going. It has only happened once though. Guess ill just rebuild my old one and swap it. lol
