    The thing about the ADV is the riding experience is always consistent. On bikes with clutches, you can miss a shift, botch the friction zone on takeoff, or miss a rev match on downshift. Not with this bike. It’s always a good experience. Love my ADV. 😊

    Your advice to long term Bikers is sound, Scott. I'm nearly 80, live in the Uk and have ridden Motorcycles since 1964. A couple of years ago I injured my legs ( not on a M/C) and because of reduced mobility I bought a Scooter, a step through version, the Honda SH 350I. In a word..fantastic!! Forget the scooter bias some Bikers have, scooters are great, easy to ride, lightweight, and economical. My sh350 will do 80mph easily and I moto camp with it.
    Age, injury or any other reason, if you are a two wheel incurable addict like me, buy a modern scooter.

    Thanks Scott for your videos! I have watched several of your videos and have learned a lot from you. You have the most informative videos on this bike on TH-cam. I am 63 years old retired and would like to do some riding like you suggest. Not interested in going 90mph and just do back road riding at 30-50 mph. I have a electric bike with 100-150 mile range but am concerned about impeding traffic with a top speed of only 25-30 mph . You have almost talked me into purchasing one. Going to go by the local dealer here in Athens Georgia today and hopefully make a final decision.

      Wow, thank you! I do appreciate the kind words and it helps encourage me to press onward. Running a TH-cam channel is not easy and it's very time consuming. It's one of those things where you're either in, or out and there's no in between or your videos simply won't get promoted in feeds. Anyway, about the bike... yes, it's a great machine and if you're concerned about cost you can always try the used marketplace for this bike or others that are similar. You might be able to save thousands. If the financial piece is not a concern then yes, get what you really want. Good luck and keep me posted when you decide on something!

I’m 53, I’m not into loud pipes, and I am not interested in going fast. However, I do use mine for commuting, but it’s only 5 miles each way. I love the improvement of your production. Love that you have a camera facing you and the one on your helmet to see your ride. Also, the sound of your audio is great now. I can hear the bike and there's not too much wind noise at all. This was fun.
    I rode my same bike more this summer than when I first bought it. I had a really good time. I realize it's not too smart to listen to music because it makes it harder to hear things on the road, but that's what I like to do.
    I'd appreciate it if you shared your gear list. For instance, what do you use to mount your camera on your bike? What helmet do you have? Is the audio built in to your helmet? The microphone too? What do you use to mount your camera to your helmet? If you're willing to share, I'd be grateful.
    One more thing, I'd like to know what that rear view mirror is on the front wind guard. I think that makes very good sense to be aware of your surroundings.
    I used to be "ADV Buzz," but I started doing other content.
    I have often thought I'd like it if they sold the ADV350 state side, but I also wondered if it would become too big. I wonder how much it weighs.
    Great video.

      I appreciate that! The production process has been much trial and error with years of fine tuning since I'm very frugal with money. I had to buy a 2nd camera (GoPro 9) for my other channel so I use that in my riding arsenal now. You can browse my lists for all the gear I use: www.amazon.com/shop/trekopolis Some of the gear I don't own yet, but is on my list. My main two cams are the GoPro 6/9, my older one on the helmet. It's fine. No reason to spend thousands of dollars on gear. It's the content that's most important. The mirror, cam mounts, and much more are within those lists I've categorized. Hope that helps and thanks again for the kind words!

    The price is what keeps me and I'm sure majority of people from buying one. After spending some time in Thailand they had the Honda click 160cc 2024 model for sale for about $2,000... I think for Americans to really get into these they are going to have to have the prices come down to under $3,000

    • @Trekopolis
      @Trekopolis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yet Americans can drop $65K on a new midsize SUV and think nothing of it. Most of those I imagine are leased, but still. I couldn't do that unless I was very wealthy. Even then, I'd probably opt for something on the used market and save 10K-15K right away. As soon as you drive a new vehicle off the showroom floor you lose thousands. But I agree, the smaller bikes are way overpriced like anything else unless you browse the used market and find someone wanting to unload it cheap. They're out there.

    I had another question. Is there a seat hook in the bottom of the trunk where you can attach a helmet strap, close the trunk, and let the helmet hang outside while being locked in with the strap? Hope that explanation made sense - one TH-camr mentioned that All the ADV have this feature worldwide, but not in the USA version which I found very strange. It’s a pretty standard feature of scooters in Taiwan and very useful because you can leave the helmet attached to the bike, locked in by strap, without having to need trunk space.

    • @Trekopolis

      The AKASO was great quality for the price, but the stability control wasn't quite up to the level of the GoPro so I opted for a new GoPro 9 and will use that as my secondary cam facing me while my old Hero 6 works fine on my helmet mount. I run another channel I use my GP 9 for so I don't feel like swapping equipment all the time. The Insta 360 was cool, but I didn't care for the editing. It's very time consuming to me. Everyone is different. Since my Hero 6 treats me well and never had issues with it I stuck with the brand. Anyway, the AKASO would probably work fine on a helmet mount, but on the handlebar mount it was not as stable for that position. Nice thing with Amazon is you can try things out sometimes and send them back at no cost. I don't make a habit of it though. They have a problem with returns being so many. I've only done it twice in all fairness. Hope that helps! Think I'm set now though. Just got some wireless mics for my GP 9. Charging them now!

Until I turned the bars and at full lock the end of the handlebar came into contact with my knee. Fortunately both this and the PCX have handlebars and you could always raise them up a little to combat this or just tolerate it. Since how often do you need to be at full lock and are in a position where moving your leg would be a bad idea?

    How about XADV?

      I'd love to swing a leg over that one, but don't think it's available in the US. If it is that's news to me! For the price of that bike I'd have to really consider if it's worth it. Lots of options on the used market for that price range I'd have to look at. Cool looks though! I like the white color. ✌🏼

      Yamaha xmax is available in the states. 292cc single cylinder ,fuel injection, top speed 80 mph, front and rear disc brakes, smart phone integration, did I mention that it can do 80 mph. I had an adv 150 and they ride nice but I had to pin the throttle pretty much all the time on any bigger roads. Full throttle would only give me 63 mph and then the rev/speed limiter would coming on and cut the power. Even down hill, she would go right up to 63 and then start jerking around trying to cut the fueling . To tell you the truth, I haven't hit the top speed yet, I've been in the 70s and I could tell that there was a lot more throttle available.
      Like any bike, you may have to try a number of yamaha dealers, but they are out there. The xmax does cost more than the adv 160 but no where near what the xadv costs.

    will the stroker or bore up kit renders the bike illegal for road use in US?

    • @Trekopolis

      I doubt it. Nobody is going to know or check unless the bike raises suspicion somehow. Look at all the bikes out there with upgrades. It would be impossible to keep tabs on them.

      We crame 400’s in 125cc frames everyday, gotta be dumb to get caught. In the US anything with two wheels is still heavily considered recreational so it’s not regulated as heavy.

    Do you think this ADV would work for a funeral escort service?

    • @Trekopolis
      @Trekopolis  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Now that's a unique question. Well, it depends on the area I'd imagine. Probably not because the bikes they use require quick speed response, larger (bike/rider) visibility, from what I've seen. Just my opinion. I don't know the requirements. If I were the rider doing that role, I'd prefer something comfortable, powerful, larger, and lower seat height, and more surface area for mounting options like lights, siren, speaker, storage. Most of those bikes are similar to police bikes from what I've seen. 🤔 Great question! Thanks.

      Thanks for that response. The quick speed response would be within what the ADV can do. I would think it would be easier to start and stop on something automatic versus manual. Is there room to install a light on the front and back?

      @@DavidSingleton-ob5mc May have to get a little creative to install lights. People usually affix a crash bar first, then mount various lights. For the back there are options for luggage carriers that might be suitable to mount things too. Interesting concept though thanks!
