I'm Scott - From Navy Petty Officer to asphalt adventurer, my life has been a wild ride. I'm rediscovering the two-wheeled fun I enjoyed as a teen, riding my Tomos moped in the 80s. That experience culminated in purchasing a Honda ADV 150 adventure to capture that feeling again.
TREKOPOLIS is my home base where I share POV rides, review motorbikes/gear, and fuel my two-wheeled cravings.
Wondering what kind of bike fits your riding style? My videos will help you find the perfect machine to match your wild side (or mild one, no judgment here).

When you turned on Kemper, you were about a mile from my house.
Probably my favorite freakin daily!
That jerking sensation is called a rev limiter. The software is programmed to go only so fast to prevent engine damage.
So it's software, not just a limit on the belt or mechanical system huh? Thanks for clarifying. I wonder if anyone has figured out how to bypass that.
@ You might look for a tune for your bike in whatever forums are available. The smaller bikes are able to get a tune which also deactivates the O2 sensors for increased power and fuel economy.
Just bought a 2025 ADV 160 and I absolutely love it! I'm 52 and live in the suburbs of New Orleans. It's a perfect commuter bike for me.
That's great! Glad you enjoy it. That's what matters most. Be safe!
Why does this happen? Is it a security thing if scooter not started for a duration of time? You say dead battery. But never show battery charge. So I assume key fob battery? Does the ADV start after you do the code input? Did you actually have a dead motorcycle battery?
@@fozzynw9175 The more common issue is a dead FOB battery. The emergency process is for that. If you have a dead battery under the seat that's another problem. Once the code is put in it will allow you to start the bike like you unlocked with the FOB. Think you still have to turn the ignition switch to start though. It basically unlocks the ignition and allow you to start it.
Thank you. I will do this process this weekend. Hopefully get my bike started. Your help given through your videos is always appreciated. Your answers to questions make you valuable. Grateful! Thank you!
Where can i buy this em mode coupler
@@sokvital7967 A Honda dealer should be able to get one for you. You can't buy them, Honda will supply one through the dealer usually. Check with your local dealerships to see how to get one. Not sure if there's a fee or not. Mine was sent to me after I bought the bike.
I'm older now and moving to a remote part of Appalachia. I'm gonna score two Honda Helix's for under three grand. I plan exploring the roads less traveled all to my self basically. I rode bigger and smaller bikes bikes my whole life because different bikes serve different needs. I don't think that Americans ride scooters because unlike any other nation we had a plethora of bikes to ride and scooters for no ill reason we're over looked. I love the simplicity of a scooter . One of my best rides ever was on 50 cc Chinese mopeds on the island of Culebra , P.R. Scooter prices will drop with the inflation Lil brother have faith our form of democracy just saved itself. Dude stop bashing your nation and take some pride in yourself. You are a American for Christs sake Your blessed now stop sniveling ...
Dude, I'm hardly bashing America. I served eight years for our country. I'm grateful for what I have. All I'm saying is Americans don't see the value in smaller displacement bikes like scooters because they are often influenced by marketing and peer pressure to spend unnecessarily. Scooters are never advertised on TV because they'd rather promote 65K vehicles. America is the land of greed and sensationalism. But, opportunity is there. These are facts, not bashing. Everyone knows it. America is still the strongest military presence on the globe and we're all thankful for that security. Our country is by far not perfect, but it's starting to change finally. Good for you moving to the mountains. Much quieter there. Enjoy the bikes!
How do you mount it ?
It's free-standing. You don't have to mount it, just slip it under the kickstand when needed.
@Trekopolis Take an old cutting board from the kitchen. It is cheaper. 🤷😉
That would be cool if you park on the grass sand or uneven surfaces. Thx man 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Lol my bike has nothing like that ( 150ADV )
I dont have it on my 110cc honda dirtbike. Is that the only place it is. And my brakes are very slow to stop, especially my back brake, plz help me!
I took my 150 adv out to Manayunk right outside Philadelphia there are some crazy hills and beautiful winding roads. I thought to myself there is no way this little 150cc is going to make it up these hills. Boy was I wrong this thing really impressed me, I just never slowed down, not having to shift was incredible just throttle and go. Couldn't stop smiling. It has 600 miles now and it's beginning to show it's true colors. And the tires Honda choose to put on this machine stick to the road really well, and the tread pattern is perfect.
@@z.z.4790 Thanks for sharing. Yes, it surprisingly does well on hills no doubt!
One thing that's made for the rise of scooters is that motorcycles are, let's admit it, expensive enough to be out of the reach of many of us. And depending on the miles, they can often consume as much time and money in maintenance costs as a car. Scooters are cheap, easy to repair, and parts are now cheap and easy to find. Mine is a 150 cc with 13 inch tires. A brand new, reliable, FUN, efficient (75 mpg)$1200 for it delivered. Put over 1k miles on it since early October. Could not be happier with it. The engine really woke up at 800 mi. Cost $150 to insure for the year. Only thing is, it's so cheap, I can't insure it against theft. IMO, authentic MCs are sized and perform best on highways at highway speeds. They're basically highway vehicles. An MC will never be in it's intended habitat while on surface streets, but that's exactly where a scooter thrives.
@@UnderPresser Well said! Thank you.
@Trekopolis You're welcome. When out on my 150, I wear full MC gear, including a black, Schott-style leather MC. I've driven to the MC shop and my fave watering spot, and parked it right next to monster cruisers bc I give no f*cks, they can take it or leave it, bc I gotta represent. I get the Nod from other MC riders, people ask me about it at stoplights all the time, and at 54 yeears old, i was invited to ride with a local teenage/20's-age scooter/dirtbike mob when i ran into 20 of them at a gas station. Yes, scooter life is good and lacks nothing. I've had an 800cc Kawasaki cruiser and I'm having just as much fun on the scooter.
@@UnderPresser Two wheels are better than four, unless it's an F1 car. Those are fun. ;)

Taft HS class of 76. Grew up in Hamilton. In those days the big industries were collapsing... Champion Paper, Mosler Safe, ARMCO, etc... Blue collar jobs were being impacted all around. The city was doing okay, but I would not call it great. I think it being the county seat helped economically. Went in the service and did not move back. From 76 on the city looked pretty much the same (nothing to shout about) until here lately. Looking back I would have never imagined it could have become so much better looking. Lots of those buildings along Main Street on the west side were just a bunch of old wore out buildings back then. Seems to have a heavy art focus. Hope they keep it all going. I live in the south now and I am not a fan of cold snowy weather so I will be staying put.
Thanks for the comment! Yep, Hamilton is becoming a young professional's paradise to be honest. Small city, lots of entertainment venues, and close to major highways and larger cities. We've lived right down the road for 30 years and have seen the transformation. Now we don't have to leave the area to enjoy company with friends as there's so much to do now. If we could only bring warm weather to Hamilton all year round that would be nice!
I used to own a 155 cc Yamaha scooter, but had the same issue with the low top speed, sold it and bought a Piaggio Beverly 400, I don’t like to go fast but is nice to know that I can push to almost 10ñ MPH and can keep up with freeway traffic if needed
That Beverly 400 looks really cool. It's over 100 pounds heavier than the ADV, but probably due to larger motor and stuff. I like the speedo display. Nice!

I'm a little late to the party. I've been coveting this bike since it came to the states many years ago. My only hesitation, is the Indian TVS Apache RTR 310 engine and being able to get parts VS a larger brand such as Kawasaki, Honda, and actual BMW etc. Great video!
Over the years I've learned to trust my gut. Especially if you keep having the same thoughts pop in. I hope you find your bike and remember, there's lot of choices out there.
@@Trekopolis Good point. Your gut has a bit of experience behind it, and I appreciate you making this video. hope all is well! Blessings!
I just got a 2025 Grabber Blue adv160 about 500 miles ago and it's a relaxing way to see the country scenery I just cruise around 25 -45 nice and easy. It's really hard to beat . I have a seat cushion and a Puig windshield and now it's way better to ride . Thanks for your cool videos. 👍
The blue option is nice and I think it's the first time Honda offered it. Really cool. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoy it!
Random question for you, can the firmware for the speedometer information panel be upgraded to look like the new models? Curious if you know. 🤔
Interesting question, but I highly doubt it. Now I'm curious. I'll see if I can find out anything.
it's a honda, you can bounce it off the rev limiter for decades and it will smile and ask for more so long as you change the oil. they have earned this reputation...
Well that's good to hear, but I avoid the bounce to be honest cause I enjoy taking it slow.
I bought a Honda adv 150 which I just love can't say enough good things about it. Almost everywhere I go people call it a motorcycle. So the scooter culture is definitely changing here in the states. A few years ago I was usually ridiculed, now I get a thumbs up or a compliment. Maybe it's because of the way Honda designed this particular scooter. Plus when the light turns green the bike is really fast don't have to give it much throttle to pull away from traffic.
Thanks for sharing! Right on. Yep, what is considered "cool" changes over time. It all depends on popularity. Scooters are cool now because more people are riding them. We're a species that like to fit in. Keep up with the Johnson's as they say.
I have the ADV160 and I love it. Also turned a few heads. I did ride a lot when I was younger but now I just like the simplicity like you mentioned. So I am content with my Honda, and I have added a few accessories to make it mine
That's great! Thanks for sharing that. Be safe out there.
I had been looking at the Navi. Just saw the new ADV 160. It's expensive, but a lot more bike. BTW, I live in Sharonville
Howdy, neighbor! Yes, the ADV is not a choice for someone looking for a cheap bike, that's for sure. But, it's Honda quality and I don't regret it one bit. There's always the used market too. Sometimes you can find a bike someone is needing to let go for an affordable price.
That key system keeps thieves from easily stealing your scooter because they can’t splice the wires and starting it on the spot.
Makes sense. Be much easier/faster to simply pick it up and put in a van/truck I would think. But, valid point thank you!
What external mic are you using bought the akaso mic for it and its not working

@@Trekopolis okay thank you for letting know know i don’t have

The Company in India is a 1.5 billion dollar company. It's like the Ford Motor Company of India called TRC. The components are all high quality. It'll get up to 92 mph in 6th gear with a little left on the throttle. Haven't ripped it to its breaking point and probably won't need to. Getting it up from 65 to 92 was relatively quick for those who don't have a basis for comparison, like myself. This bike is absolutely fun to ride around Long Beach, CA. Yes, the turn signal sucks. I forget it's on all the time. I won't use it unless it concerns my safety. Lane changes or right turns with no cars in sight, I don't bother. I do that because when I forget to turn it off I don't want someone thinking I'm turning when I'm not. So it's a 50/50 on when it should be used, for me. You only have to click it in to turn it off. You don't have to slide it back to center.
@@CaliDef Thanks for providing that information! Very good.
"Make sure the fluid never goes below that" Okay but it doesn't really have a mark on it, just a circle.. what level is too low??
The little circle window is a good reference so you can see where the level is at. If you see oil then it's good. If you don't see oil or it's getting close to the bottom of the circle then you can add more fluid. No, there's no mark on the window I don't think, but anything below the circle bubble window is basically letting the rider know it's time to add some fluid.
Great video thanks bro... I was going n the fence. I've researched and really have been at a crossroads about whether or not to get one. I currently own a 700x DCT that's getting old. I feel just like you something simple to just get around town. My Ebikes is great but lacks that bit of power and there's always the range issue. Now if I can just find one that isn't marked up through the roof 😢
Yes, they make great bikes for cruising around town and for shorter commutes. The power is only a concern for me when I take it on an Interstate, but I hardly ever do that. Good luck finding one. I know this is an issue because people hang on to them. There are Facebooks Groups you can search for and people will list them (for sale) when they upgrade or want to get rid of it. Search "Honda ADV 150/160" and there's several good ones.
If this came in a 250 model it would be absolutely perfect for my needs. I live in a rural area, so a little more power would be really nice for these 55mph roads and short interstate trips. I’m really considering picking one up, even though I know I’ll be wishing for a little more power. The efficiency is really appealing. The other option is a Burgman 200 but I prefer everything about the Honda over the Burgman, aside from the engine size.
I wonder what would americans say about Honda X-ADV 750. It's a scooter too :) But I personally want to buy an ADV 350.
