It's an act. I believe in Muay Thai the judges gauge the impact of blows, and so the fighters play them off. I reckon it also helps to psyche out the opponent. He didn't seem happy about receiving that spinning back elbow.

TKD only allows for kicks while Muay Thai encompasses punches, elbows and knees aswell with their own kicks and also the clinch, overall being a more well rounded art and because of that it is stronger than TKD.
@@D_AnthonyForeskin ITF TKD also incorporates punches to the body and head. I agree with you for the remainder of points you made. Especially low kicks, clinch and sweeps are major differences. But kick game of TKD, especially the diversity is superior.
@@akram6505 sure, but ITF TKD is semi full contact, if they allow full force full contact, then it's just American Kickboxing, i don't see TKD as a weak martial art, more on watered down, because back then it was reverse boxing, full force contact with kicks and knockouts allowed occasionally, now it's just legfencing...
MT is in fact “better” but I’ll explain why in detail. TKD is heavily focused on kicks which is not bad, but at the detriment of all other arts. Kicks: TKD kicks compared to MT, TKD focused on speed and agility. MT has some speed kicks but most of them are for generating maximum power whilst being balanced. Extremely harmful, you in fact cannot block too many MT kicks or your forearms etc will shatter (unless you’re more conditioned) TKD has the best spinning back kick of all arts in my opinion, to the head and especially to the body. Overall, it’s 50/50 for kicks, both arts have different focus but if I had to pick one, probably MT. Punches: MT has a great learning process for punches, not as heavily focused on as pure boxers but compared to TKD it’s night and day. MT takes the edge in this one Clinch: One of the strongest takeaways from MT; they incorporate grappling, knees, elbows, and a plethora of sweeps. I’ve never seen TKD guys clinch or grapple. When they get into grappling range they almost always try to use footwork to skeedadle and throw a disengaging kick (like Stephen Thompsons amazing side kick, that thing is a beauty). Clinch goes to MT. Elbows: I kinda already mentioned them in grappling but this goes to MT. As far as I know TKD does not throw any elbows or devote any meaningful focus on that art. Blocks/Footwork: TKD is heavily focused on footwork, closing and controlling the gap. MT is more so focused on balancing the blocking and footwork for all 8 limbs of the art. Footwork goes to TKD, Blocks go to MT. Overall: If you’re serious about self defense, you should seriously consider MT. I don’t like saying one art is “better” than the other but some arts just ignore aspects of fighting that cannot be ignored. I would give a similar answer if someone were to ask me if a boxer or MT practitioner at the same skill would win. I have a friend who has studied both deeply, and he heavily favored MT but when you take the great kicking fundamentals from TKD and apply it to MT you’ll be a monster. God Bless bro.
