If nothing else is working, try this...strangely it worked (from a forum) "On the morning going to the appointment, the light went off. I got to the service dealer, he hooked up a scanner, it read that my gas cap was defective. He asked if I fill my car up with gas and go and click more than 2 to 3 times after the gas is full. He said that I'm putting to much gas in. Over flow of gas goes into the charcoal filter. Don't over fill the gas tank. So far so good. Hope this helps you out."
Just an FYI, any time you Malfunction Indicator Light like this one (or ABS/Traction Control, Airbag, etc.) the system that light pertains to is disabled (This does not include the CHECK ENGINE Light).
So my airbag light is on because seller didn't replace the curtain airbag. My BSM doesnt work because driver side door was replaced with original. Maybe the connection not plugged in for the mirror? Also cruise control radar works but if i get close to someone it wont pick that up. Lane assist works. Also i noticed when its hot i get a pre collilsion malfunction but goes away when it cools down
Anyone know how to get this thing disabled permanently? Like I don't want any sensors or camera. Rip out the damn thing entirely and have those indicators light permanently off. The dealer I went to won't do it but I'm curious if its possible and how to do it (or to whom to go to get this done).
I had the same problem last night. It was snowing so I stopped and wiped the front of the sensor, switched off the car and on again. Error message didn't go away. This morning when I was leaving for work, there was no error message at all. Please update your situation.
Raghu k c sorry to hear. Believe it or not it's still with toyota. The sensor is back ordered and had to be ordered from Japan. I have since contacted their coorporate offices and they are giving me a credit on a car payment since it will be nearly a month that my CHR has been at the dealership. That's all I know at this point.
thomas petroff jr I took my car to the dealer today abd booked the time for next week. According to the dealer, this is a common problen in C-HR. If I understood correctly, during the rain or snowing, vapor develops in camera lense blocking the sensor. So, the guy says it takes like couple hours to install some kind of extra heater so that no vapor will develop. Hard to believe that but I am no expert on this. Apparently, Toyota has informed them about the problem and it seems it's the same problem in many others too. Good luck with your car.
Raghu k c I think we have different issues since I live in Los Angeles and it wasn't rainingor snowing. They say it was a bad sensor for the breaking system that affects the radar. Faheem Ali / I have the same problem. The OBD scan tool shows the code POA1114 meaning "DC-DC converter enable circuit short to ground". I took it to a few mechanics and the hybrid battery is good, the DC-DC converter gives good amps and voltages. When I press on the brake the red warning sign of the battery comes on, but only when the car is moving forward or backward, not when the car is stationary. I suspect that either there's a bad electronic component in the DC-DC converter that creates the short to ground only on regen function ( regen is when pressing the brake, and takes place when car is moving forward or backward ) or some bad braking sensor on the body of the main brake system ( the braking system is "on wire", electronic, the feeling of resistance that you have when you brake by pushing with your foot is fake, is created artificially by a spring ) that has electronic connection to the DC-to-DC converter system. The mechanics don't know what causes it. I'm still trying to find better mechanics to repair it.

Platizza • I have found exactly what the problem was. It was the whole wire harness around the engine that connects everything. The wires in the harness have defects in them from the factory, respective interruptions due to poor wire quality from the factory. Also the connections to connectors, inside the connectors, are bad from the factory due to the same bad factory quality. This is only for the models built in 2016, 2017 and MAYBE some models of 2018 ( I'm not very sure about the Prius 4 2018 models ). ( There's been a recall in those years 2017-2018, etc about the bad wire quality of those years' models, you can check it with Google. I'm talking especially about the Prius 4 models built in the Toyota Japan factory in 2016 and 2917 and considered as 2017 models. ) I have found interruptions in the wires at a distance like 2-3 inches=5-7 centimeters from the 2 small black connectors going on the top of the inverter converter ( the green wire in the bundle ). Also I found bad connections to the big 2 gray connectors, one longer, one shorter, that are next, left and up ( when you look from the front of the hood ) to the main big black fuse box that's on the right side. I replaced, patched and fixed the best I could everything, wires and connections in the big connectors, it worked for a couple months but after those 2-3 months the problems returned even with more defects, warnings, stopping of the car, and the whole craziness. It stopped my Prius on the freeway completely. The only solution was to change the whole wire harness which I did. I bought a used harness from dismantling businesses for $150, ( because an absolutely new harness at dealership is like a few thousand dollars! 😱 ), it was from 2019-2020 models, the owner over there told me that they are either from 2019 or 2020 models. He said that if it doesn't work, he can exchange it with no problem. I exchanged the harness myself working on top of the engine and under the car, it is hard, it took me around 5 hours; a mechanic can do it faster by raising the car, etc but the pay for labor is a lot ). It worked perfectly, no problems at all after I replaced the whole harness with a newer one ( not the same years model, but newer Prius 4 models, 2019, 2020, etc. You have to make absolutely sure that it is compatible with the 2016-2017 Prius 4 model ). Toyota gives you a new harness for free only if the harness is found defective and only if it's still in the warranty period that's covered ( I think - I'm not very sure - it's around 60 000 miles driven maximum, shown by the odometer. Mine was way over it ).

My Toyota Camry after being repaired by the panel beater has the same ongoing issue I tested it today in two different ways I left the pre-collision system on and put on cruise control I drive for a bit and then the pre-collision system malfunction turned on Then I tried something else I disabled the pre-collision system by switching it off I thought this would work again I put on cruise control and started to drive out of nowhere it came up pre-collision system malfunction
Is that why it malfunctions after going in drive through car wash? Sensors go crazy, wint start, windshield wipers so much was going on. After i finished vacuuming, everthing started tapering off, I'm thinking something dried up and was able to drive. This was in 110° degree heat. I havent done it again since
The same light turned on for me just right after driving the car for over 7k miles. Was yours got fixed? I used my cruise control while raining then minutes after the PCS light went on.
Marv Molina it did when they (toyota dealer) disconnected the brake kit uhaul installed. If its still on I dont know what to say. Have you taken it to the dealer again?
Marv Molina It went off immediately after disconnecting the cable uhaul put on. However I know there was a recall on a part so you may need to check with your dealer. This was around Feb of this year 2018
I just went to the dealer and they said that there was no recall. The light turned off after a couple of days, so they could not diagnose what is the problem. Showed them a picture of the light that was on but they said, they have to see it in the OBD
I have the same problem. I went to the dealer the re-install the software. But the still on. Note this is my second c-hr, and the first I didn’t have this problem. I live in japan.
My Camry has done this twice, just take battery cables off, wait a minute then put back on. Warning light will still flash until you drive the car. Then it’s fixed.
Dear sir my tail lights and reversing lights are also not working and i'm getting 3 types of error radar cruise control error, hybrid system failure( i can't choose any modes) and PCS and ICS failure all on my 2013 crown Athlete. Hopefully it's some wiring problem.

Hi I’m in Australia and my Toyota Land Cruiser prado 2018 has just had the same thing happen 55oookms on the clock dealership told me Toyota has never seen this after the replaced something in the dash we got the car back and 2 days later it has done it again. Let me no what you find out because down there they say they have never come across this issue (bullshit).
Marc Sacco sorry you are having this issue. For me it was my break light kit that haul installed for a trailer hitch I put in. If your car is dirty or if it’s raining, the sensors don’t like it. I wish I could be of better help. Best wishes on your car. Something tells me that there will be a class action suit at some point
I am having the same problem with my 2019 C-HR the collision system light won’t turn off and it says the system is off. I’ve gone into the settings and tried to turn the collision system back on , but no luck. I’m going to take my car to the dealership to see if they can fix the problem.
Jaime Gomez No, I was hoping you could help me. The collision system is actually on but the light on the dash keeps saying it’s off, but that isn’t true, it’s on.
I paid $370 for diagnostics and they told me sensor was going bad and it would be $1000 to replace it. It started during Covid and I never took it in. I do not want to give them more money for something that might be wrong with all Chrs
I’m having same issues with my 2019 C-HR. LDA, Pre-collision, and headlight system malfunction errors keep popping up. Toyota gave me a quote of $600 to “fix” those error messages.
Important information! I have a chr and my preclusion light was on. I was confused at first because I kept cleaning my windshield and logo. Turns out, 2 weeks ago I went to replace my windshield due to a crack on it. Safelite used a third party windshield causing the sensors to keep pooping up to clean it. Toyota actually requires Toyota brand windshield for it to function correctly.
én have a epb bug! new chr! I took it to the service and tied it to the bug reader! no mistake! they say that something that can not be solved and written is not done. I do not push the brake pedal down completely. but when I press it, sometimes it is, sometimes!
I have a 2017 Toyota Camry Xle model. The car is not are equipped with pre-collision and lane-departure system . today days ago after I derived the car in heavy rain, the warnings light for the pre-collision and lane-departure system is on. Has anybody else been having problems?
I just bought a CHR as well a month ago. Didn’t have this issue BUT I was driving and I was at a stop light. The indicator on the speedometer turned on for about 3-4 secs and went off. It hasn’t turned on ever since. 🤷🏼♂️
had the same message today, with one more message, trailer brake error, at the dealership they told me that a mouse or something like that had eaten the harness and that the harness is in between the intake manifold and the engine, in all it's going to be $700.00 dollars to repair, I don't really believe them, but had no options because the dealership does not recommend to drive the vehicle like that, it's going to be about two days I had to claim it through my insurance but feel like I been taken for fool, let me know what you think!!!
Oh wow I'm sorry to hear that! If it's the dealership they will be charging full price and I wont imagine any local shop would do any better. How much is your deductible? If you want proof that's what it is, I'd ask for pictures prior to the repair (may be too late) and after. Man, that stinks... hopefully it won't happen again.
I just purchased a Tundra. 300 miles in, same issue, as well as a trailer brake warning. Please advise of current status. Another Tundra pulled in behind me at dealer with same issue.
Lucas Armand it appears that the issue is with the brake light connector that uhaul installed. It's not an issue with uhaul but that it overwhelmed the toyota computer by setting it off by 2ohms. Once they disconnected the connector all was good
Lucas Armand some have had issue in the rain and snow. We're you in similar conditions? Also I know there's a recall on one of the break sensors. Maybe that's the issue? Ask your dealer about it
Very concerned that you had a trailer hitch installed in the rear of the car, but had the front sensors affected. Pre Collision radar system is located in the front behind the Toyota grill emblem and camera on the windshield in the area of the rear view mirror. I had a rear bumper collision, but the repair shop denied that a rear collision on a 2018 Toyota Camry LE could affect the Pre-collision system in the front of the car. Is there any data that the rear bumper has anything to do with the Pre-collision system ?
It offset the ohms of electrical system. That's what Toyota said. Haven't had an issue since I had the brake light adapter removed from the trailer hitch
2 months late, but I was involved in a accident where someone rear ended me. My Ford fiesta (same layout of the system) displayed that the adaptive cruise control system had malfunctioned. So yes I can confirm with 100% certainty that a rear shunt can affect the pre collision system (as it uses the same radar as the adaptive cruise control)

I have the same problem. I went to the dealer the re-install the software. But the still on. Note this is my second c-hr, and the first I didn’t have this problem. I live in japan.
Roberto Guimaraes so you have the 2019 now? Ive been really satisfied with my 2018 and no major issues. Sorry youre going through this
My Camry has done this twice, just take battery cables off, wait a minute then put back on. Warning light will still flash until you drive the car. Then it’s fixed.
I love my chr, but I’m ready to trade or sell it JUST for this malfunction light. Grrrr.
Hello Thomas, Could you please show me where's 2ohms on removed it? Thank you
I'm sorry, I wish I could. I was told it by the Toyota representative after they held onto my car for about 2 weeks. They ran diagnostics
i just changed my tires , my engine lights on., secondary collision warning on, .......
not sure why.
this is a GR corolla
Dear sir my tail lights and reversing lights are also not working and i'm getting 3 types of error radar cruise control error, hybrid system failure( i can't choose any modes) and PCS and ICS failure all on my 2013 crown Athlete. Hopefully it's some wiring problem.
any update?
I have same issue, please update how you fix it.
@@mohammedalbrashdi3941 bro it's related to your hybrid battery. A simple temporary fix is to unplug your negative- terminal for a couple of mins (12volt battery located in the boot) & start your car again. Let me know how it goes.
@@chrisk9808 Bad cells on the hybrid battery pack, replaced them but the error kept popping up. The only solution is to fit a completely new battery.
Did you find anything out ?
Jaime Gomez No, I was hoping you could help me. The collision system is actually on but the light on the dash keeps saying it’s off, but that isn’t true, it’s on.
I went mudding and now the pre collision sensor has the warning light along with the vehicle stubility thing
I’m sorry to hear. Maybe the radar was blocked with mud? Is it still not working?
@@tompetroff ya I washed off the symbol and it still not working, people say the sensor is behind the symbol
Do you remember how much they charged to fix this?
It was brand new so it was a warrantee fix
I paid $370 for diagnostics and they told me sensor was going bad and it would be $1000 to replace it. It started during Covid and I never took it in. I do not want to give them more money for something that might be wrong with all Chrs
I’m having same issues with my 2019 C-HR. LDA, Pre-collision, and headlight system malfunction errors keep popping up. Toyota gave me a quote of $600 to “fix” those error messages.
@@gabriellanicole2924 are you having any trouble with your headlights or is it just the automatic high beams?
Important information!
I have a chr and my preclusion light was on. I was confused at first because I kept cleaning my windshield and logo. Turns out, 2 weeks ago I went to replace my windshield due to a crack on it. Safelite used a third party windshield causing the sensors to keep pooping up to clean it. Toyota actually requires Toyota brand windshield for it to function correctly.
How did you solve it?
én have a epb bug! new chr! I took it to the service and tied it to the bug reader! no mistake! they say that something that can not be solved and written is not done. I do not push the brake pedal down completely. but when I press it, sometimes it is, sometimes!
here is my video on some of the reasons why it turns on th-cam.com/video/zWfBOBW2XyA/w-d-xo.html
I have a 2017 Toyota Camry Xle model. The car is not are equipped with pre-collision and lane-departure system . today days ago after I derived the car in heavy rain, the warnings light for the pre-collision and lane-departure system is on. Has anybody else been having problems?
My car is due for its first servicing and I'll ask
dddddddddddd english please
I just bought a CHR as well a month ago. Didn’t have this issue BUT I was driving and I was at a stop light. The indicator on the speedometer turned on for about 3-4 secs and went off. It hasn’t turned on ever since. 🤷🏼♂️
Aviator2015 which indicator?
thomas petroff jr I’m sorry, the pre collision indicator.
had the same message today, with one more message, trailer brake error, at the dealership they told me that a mouse or something like that had eaten the harness and that the harness is in between the intake manifold and the engine, in all it's going to be $700.00 dollars to repair, I don't really believe them, but had no options because the dealership does not recommend to drive the vehicle like that, it's going to be about two days I had to claim it through my insurance but feel like I been taken for fool, let me know what you think!!!
Alejandro martinez yep i had exactly same situation with my chr they told me rodents chew the wire its BS
Same thing my 2020 Corolla says on the screen and cylinder 3 when I put my scanner pls any help ?
I just purchased a Tundra. 300 miles in, same issue, as well as a trailer brake warning. Please advise of current status. Another Tundra pulled in behind me at dealer with same issue.
Lucas Armand it appears that the issue is with the brake light connector that uhaul installed. It's not an issue with uhaul but that it overwhelmed the toyota computer by setting it off by 2ohms. Once they disconnected the connector all was good
Ok thanks, definitely not my issue as I have not added anything electrical.
Lucas Armand some have had issue in the rain and snow. We're you in similar conditions? Also I know there's a recall on one of the break sensors. Maybe that's the issue? Ask your dealer about it
My 2018 Tundra started with the errors @ 1500 miles. Taking to the dealer this Friday.
@@tompetroff hi thomas , my toyota corolla hybrid showing the same signs+ hybrid malfunction system... and car is not starting as well.... did you have same problem?? And what has been repaired can you tell me please if you know about it,,, thankss
I have the same problem. It came out after being hit from behind in an accident. Is it possible that the impact cause the problem?
My understanding is the radar is only in the front. Maybe the accident jarred something?
Any one have idea on this issue am to much worried
2019 CHR 7000 miles--with exact same issue
The visit to the dealer was joke
Tell me rodents have been chewing on the wires new camera radar module is $4500 buck if insurance wont pay then they can re wire the old cannon plug for $500
Anything to avoid warranty payment
Scumbags not at all what I had expected from toyota my last vehicle I will buy from them no honor among thieves --sad
Wow I’m sorry you are dealing with that. I haven’t had an issue in 2 years. What state do you live in? Would it qualify under lemon laws?
Hello did your problem got solved?
Yes I havent had a problem since
@@tompetroff did the dealer say what was the issue and how it was fixed
Getting same error on my 2013 crown athlete. Really getting me worried.
thegame123ize is it always happening or only when it rains or snows? That can affect radar
@@tompetroff no i just bought it it's a used car from japan. It was fine when i checked at tge dealer's but after driving it a for an hour or so it started giving me errors. I called the dealer he said he'll send someone over to fix it and it's a just require a software update or programming( or some mambo jambo) hopefully i don't have to return it and gets fixed tomorrow.
thegame123ize / Did you fix it? What was the problem?
Sensor ?
Gopher San yep. That's what they said. They have had it for 23 days now. Had to order the part from japan
Gopher San linked with the radar
Sensor malfunction are first issues to rule out in most cars, in cases like yours, low mileage, no collision, damage from elements, etc.
So I went to see the car today to get some things from the trunk and they replaced the computer that took 3.5 weeks but still got the malfunction notice. So now they say it will be the ABS which will come in tomorrow. Hoping the CHR isn't a lemon...
I'm sure they will get it fixed. Sensors are easy. . .nothing mechanical, as i see it.
mine came on today in my 2020 corolla during a uber eats delivery I hope my livelihood is not endangered
My light is on changed the sensor and still on apparently toyota needs to recalibrate for $600
That stinks
Even the 2020 yaris has problème with pré collision
How do you u reset it
Just change or charge the battery and problem fixed
I repair these fault code i solved this problem about 9 cars but with the help of my machine Adas Pro
Thank you soo much
Same problem Toyota Auris 2016
How did you Fixed Sir , I want to know

Zaheer Shah will do. They have had my car for nearly a month and still waiting. They replaced the computer and same issue. Now they think it's my dash cam which makes no sense since it's only plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter via the fuse box. Glad toyota is making my car payments until I get it back.
It wasn't the dash cam so they ordered a new abs and will install it tomorrow
