Thanks for sharing! Your video saved me a lot of money. The issue I encountered was that when activating cruise control, the brakes felt weak or sometimes didn’t work at all, and at low speeds, the cruise system would suddenly disengage. The first time I went to the Toyota service center, they couldn’t find the problem because there was no error code. On the second visit, they suggested replacing the front radar, which was very expensive. After watching your video, I decided to try fixing it myself. The first time, I cleaned the front emblem, and the situation improved. This afternoon, I removed and cleaned both the radar and the back of the emblem (there were traces of rain and dirt). After that, the system worked like it did when the car was new. For those experiencing similar issues, I highly recommend cleaning both the radar and the emblem. Just be careful not to get the connectors wet.
WOW, awesome! I am happy that this helped direct you in the right direction! I have a part 1 where I didn't solve my problem, but every situation is different. So I continued to make a part 2, and this is where I found my issue. One side note for you is that you can use CRC QD electrical cleaner on the plug as it is safe for plastic and electronics. I have a short video where I show you how to clean electrical plugs. I will copy and paste the link here for you. Most of these dealers are just trying to sell stuff and don't actually target the issue. I refuse to use the dealers if I can for your very problem. You did it for nothing! 😁 Thanks for watching and commenting for myself and other viewers to know!
Good job. That's what I was explaining in the other video. Now remember if the windshield has been replaced a lot of times the technicians will be in a hurry and they do forget to plug that hood heater up, it's called a hood heater but it's just the camera heater that keeps any fog or anything from building up in that lens so the camera can see. If you do take your cover apart and you do see that it is plugged and you're getting the pre-collision warning it's because a lot of the aftermarket glasses have that hood heater / camera heater already attached to the aftermarket windshield. So if you do have a windshield replacement in a Toyota make sure you ask the technician to reuse your factory Toyota Hood heater / camera heater not the aftermarket that comes on the aftermarket windshield. 30 years in the auto glass business and things have changed so much. Great video I'm glad you was able to help your grandma out.
Wow, now that's a knowledge bomb right there. Again, thanks for sharing. To someone watching, you have saved them from the dealers trying to rip them out of $$$thousands of dollars! It is crazy how the industry is changing so rapidly! Keeps us on our toes for sure. I will keep my eye out on the hood heater stuff you mentioned for sure! And.... Grandma was very happy. I saved her $175 per hour diag they wanted to charge her. She was stressed out, and I told her I would handle it for her. She is so happy and relieved to have her car working with no more inoying warnings. At the same time, I checked her fluids on both cars, moved her chair for her, and we even got her phone hooked up to the car 🤣 aka Bluetooth! She is almost 90 and still doing wonderful at driving. Thanks again, brother! 🤙💪
If it was me I would put it back together and wipe it down as if it wasn't touched. I would go back NOT CALL, go back to the facility where they replaced it. Then I would present the issue in person. DO NOT say you know the issue BUT just explain the issue you are having. I would explain the issue something like this. Hello, I just had my windshield replaced on date (for example 9/16/24) and ever since then my pre collision system has been malfunctioning. It started right after the windshield along with.... I am concerned that the safety system hasn't been properly hooked up or something was bumped during the install. Can you have someone address this for me today? This is where I would start if it was me. Just emphasize on the fact that you have had the problem since the replacement time when they did the window. Explain what happened when it started and try to proceed with a fix. They need to be held accountable most likely the plug broke when they pulled it apart and they just thought they would "send it" or forgot (which I doubt). Start here and please let me and the other viewers know how it goes. Don't procrastinate and work toward a result. If you say you pulled the cover off the mirror they can say you broke the plug KEEP IT SIMPLE. This will test their integrity and honesty as you know the issue. Play dumb.... Thank you for watching and I hope this helps. Please keep me updated I appreciate you!
Well, that's not good. Just send them this video, and I also have a part 1 with more steps to possibly help them out. One of these steps may help them get the problem corrected. Part 1 is linked in the description, and it's clickable on this video at the end screen. Hope this helps!
@HowToDIYMoore does this trim LE has the TSS 2.5 on the front Toyota emblem or it solely relies on the camera/sensor located on the Top center of the winshield that got replaced?
@@csan255 I'm not 100% sure if it has the TSS behind the emblem or not. To my knowledge I thought it was standard to have both, but idk. I cleaned the emblem on this just to be safe, but my problem was resolved with the rear view mirror not being plugged back in. I will check but it won't be till I am able to make it back to my relatives house.

You said this is a 2018 rav4 non hybrid. What trim is this? Xle, xle premium, limited.
It is a LE Sport Utility 4D
