Great content. I’ve always been scared to detail an engine after killing a battery and alternator at a car wash! I felt like such a dumb ass. I’ve learned more from these videos and it blows me away how fast I can catch on. Thanks boss man 👍
That's GREAT!!! I was sooo deadly afraid to detail the engine bay up until you showed what to cover and how to clean. KUDOS!!! Thank you for this video! VERY HELPFUL!!!
I also cover air intake and MAF. It’s not common to mess those up but I’ve seen so many people do, I’d rather take extra precaution. I remove those later and clean on their own. If I’m not lazy I do the throttle too very 3yrs or so due unnoticeable gunk from intake.
I watch most of your videos and usually like them. But what's the point of showing an engine detail video when you can't see anything. You did a good job of describing everything but most the parts of the video hosing down the engine and the actual detailing were shot from the side so you really don't see anything.
@@stipuledorange4 lack of attention to detail. I want to see a wider view of what they are doing. When it is being hosted off let me see where is being sprayed. Is anywhere being concentrated on. Is it just a quick rinse off. It's a good video as far as detail but the video itself could show more. Last thing I want to do is spray too much in an area and screw something up.
I hope you guys are ready for those aftermarket parts for the second generation. (86 production line is ending this year) and I’m not sure if next month cause the final editions are coming out now! But it will be really exiting to tune that 2.4 boxer coming out in the second gen GR86
I live in the desert of AZ and I have 40k miles on my frs and I've never had to clean the engine bay. It's still super clean idk how. I have to drive on a 2 mile flirting road to get to my house. It makes no sense
Our engine bays are kinda like ovens. Really well sealed from top to bottom which makes it hard for anything to really get in but also makes it hard for any debris to get out. Mainly dust and the occasional leaf that makes it way through the ducting under the windscreen.
Pretty much anything past the 2000's can handle it, however I am the same as you. I spend about 3 hours cleaning my car though lmao. If you do for whatever reason need to spray water in there I usually just put a bag over the alternator and battery with tape around it to hold it tight. Little bit of water wont hurt but you also don't want to drown your alternator or anything.
I’ll share a dealership secret, we do this all the time except without covering the alternator or battery. Unless the car is submerged in water, or water gets into the intake and hydro locks the engine, it will be fine. The heat from the engine bay will normally evaporate any leftover water as well. I’ve pressure washed my personal cars like this and it’s been fine, no electrical issues.
Damn boi pulling that rank card real quick lmaoooo!
Why he gotta pull rank like that 😂😂

Also he said it so no one complains and asks where Tomas is. There can be more than one person who makes videos for FTspeed.
he knows he is not as good looking as Tom

I am Thomas boss and not happy with that neglected engine bay! Bad Thomas! LoL
But that flex though 😂
The mist mode on your hose works wonders

You need a video on how to run a brush over something?
@@ez8308 how about a better view of where things are covered and where you spray. Ya know to avoid spraying too much water in electrical area.

Nice job, as soon to be owner of a GT86 good to see what part of the engine was covered etc.
Love the content but your camera guy tried to be too artsy with his angles and barely saw what you were doing in the bay
indeed... better check out chris fix guide to superclean the engine bay
sadly he has no 86/brz

Real question is are YOU READY?!
Why didn't u disconnect the battery?
Good music choice

Mad video favourite car yt channel
Back again and once again you didnt have to flex on our boy thomas like that now you gotta run them hands...
You are WRX Kevin and 86 Thomas boss:)
I would never spray water in an engine bay. I use elbow grease and all purpose cleaner. Tire shine works great on plastic and rubber bits.
modern cars are perfectly fine with it especially when not using a pressure washer

Great job on the clean, though.
What up boss
I thought Tomas left to the Army? Maybe they pre recorded before he left 🤷🏻♂️
Check the upload date on the vid 😉
You should take out the battery just in case before spraying water
its okay, modern cars and batteries are made for that but you can do it
*doesn't start*
Yooooooooooooooo!!!
Oh no! Walmart battery :(
In Hawaii you soak the engine like that...you got yourself a rusty mess in a few days D:
dude turn the music down, too loud
what if while you're removing those plastic bags, a few drops of water fall into the alternator... seems like a pretty risky detail
Dry the bag first, blow it with air. Then remove it
Jay Leno said that if you can avoid it to never get water on your car, and this guy is opening the hood and soaking the engine!
He shouldnt have said that he is the boss in such disrespectful way. I will think a lot now if i will buy products from you
You're funny
this is so risky, one drop is all it takes to blow an alternator
