Chris your passion for jackets is infectious! Great to see someone else that loves good quality jackets! Your knowledge on jackets and combination wearing is impressive! 👍 🇨🇦
Hi Chris! Very good video! I loved watching it. I encourage you to make a similar video in the future, but mixing clothing from different brands. I'd like to see how you combine some of your latest acquisitions, like your Rab Mythic down jackets, your Cortazu hardshell, etc.
@@meandmyjackets absolutely..I think my next purchase is gonna be a hard shell. I think that’ll round out my collection and have me covered for any type of weather I’ll encounter on the east coast
That's easily $10k worth of gear right there. Very cool! Have you ever tried other brands? What made you stick with Arc'teryx? Is it a status symbol kinda thing?
Don't tell my wife that!!!🙂 I originally bought an Arc'teryx piece, I really liked it, then bought a lighter jacket from them, then I was hooked. So I own a bunch of Arc'teryx pieces that I have bought over the years. I do like a lot of other pieces from other brands, as I have started to review many other jackets from other companies over the last year. It's not about status, it's just what I like, and they are nice pieces. I'm happy with the quality.
another great video.. Something Im really interested in is .. how do you keep all of your stuff organized? Closet ? storage? Is there a chance to get a peek ? I would love to see what other people do. I've also got a few arcteryx jackets and not nearly enough room :( So... please! :) let us in ... Also when you talk about sizes and fit.. please let us know the model and year it was made in... cause from experience it keeps changing.. especially the last couple of years...
Thanks for the support. I actually keep just about everything in my closet by my front door. It's a double sliding door closet, my wife has her stuff on one side, and mine on the other. Then a few are in my bedroom closet. All of my fleeces are in a drawer. I have most pieces layered on the hangers to save room. With one or two light pieces under a heavy piece, or two or three lighter ones on one hanger. It all condenses down pretty well. I'll try to slip a picture or two in on an upcoming video. :) Most of my jackets are all pretty current. I try to point out if they are older, or a revised model. But, that's good input, Thank you.
It's really bothersome when you have nice toasty hand pockets from the Atom AR or Thorium and once you put on that shell, no more warm hands. My hands run cold even with gloves and it's not very helpful when using cameras too.
Great point, you're absolutely right. Most of these jackets have really nice warm pockets that you can't use with a shell on top. Maybe Arcteryx should cut a hole through the inside of the shell pocket so you can slide your hand through the shell and into the warm pockets of the jacket underneath. :) that would be great!
Hi thanks for the video, nice one. I am also confused about the new cerium Sv 1000. Arcteryx should clarify the warm efficiency against the lt. Seems close even if it is not as 1000 fill give more insulation power.
I like the thorium better than the cerium LT, for me it's warmer, and more of a stand alone everyday use jacket. It's my go to on cold winter days. The cerium LT is a nice jacket, but I tend to only wear it as a layer and not so much stand alone. That's just me.... But if it's really cold, nothing beats my Cerium SV. This is the older version, and it is extremely warm.
Thanks for the feedback. I tried on the Cerium and Thorium Jackets at REI this weekend. I settled on the Thorium over the Cerium. The Thorium is warmer, albeit heavier, but a better all purpose standalone jacket in my opinion. I got the black sapphire color. Nice navy color and something different than my all my black jackets.
Man, I love your videos! I also have the Atom AR, LT and the LT Leaf. And the Beta LT. And the Gamma SL and the MX. And the wonderful Koda as well. I guess I’m a fanboy just as you are. 😂 💪
Hi Chris, I got the Gamma LT as well but I’m not sure if I like the feel of it. I mean the jacket fits perfectly and is super comfortable but my problem is that the fabric gets really cold, and when it’s touching the midlayer it seems to transfer that cold further down which is kind of unpleasant. Have you noticed the same?
Yes, I talk about that in my other videos on the gamma jackets. For that reason, I think that the lighter gamma SL is "warmer". I believe that if you are doing a high output activity, and generating some body heat, the cold effect may be greatly reduced, and the jacket may actually be very good at regulating heat. But just wearing it outside may feel cold. I've had people comment about why that is, and some have said that they wear it under insulating layers as well. It's a subject that would be a good topic for discussion.
@@meandmyjackets Thanks for the reply. My guess is, as you are saying, that the Gamma LT is a more specific use piece and performs best in conditions it is designed for, which is outdoor activity and no so much in day to day use. I used to wear it over my Atom LT while walking my dogs, but since that cold feel is unpleasant (even through the Atom) I’d rather wear some heavier weight midlayer and then the Atom as outer layer. This Saturday I’m going hiking though and I want to test how the Gamma LT performs during outdoor activity in -6*C.
@@michael.knight I agree, the thorium Ar will fit under the Beta LT, but since the Thorium is a regular fit, and the Beta is a trim fit, it may get a bit snug. A regular fit in a shell like the Beta AR or Alpha SV may fit better for you over the regular fit Thorium. Everything fits everyone differently. The Atom AR will fit under any hardshell with no problem.
I live in NJ. So I know what kind of weather you'll be facing each winter. Both jackets are really warm . I would say that the beta LT would be ok with either jacket, but if you layer under the thorium it will get tight with the hardshell over it. As far as which one to choose.... that's hard, and totally up to you. both are great. The Atom AR is warm and just fits and feels great on. The Thorium AR is lightweight and warm, but you don't want it to get very wet. So, you'll want the shell with it if it's raining. The Atom can get wet and not loose it's warmth. Maybe the best way to choose is to flip a coin!
I would say the Nuclei SV is the warmest jacket that I have. I would like to try the Alpha SV parka. Also, The Helly Hansen Polar Verglas Down Jacket was really warm too.
I do not own the Nuclei SV. However I do have the Nuclei FL, and if the SV is along the same lines as the FL, it's going to be very warm. It's considered to be a belay jacket, so I would think it's very warm and hopefully pretty windproof as well. The FL is very windproof, and also very warm for its weight.
I tried contacting them last October, no response. I will try again. I guess that if I don't have 1,000,000 views and thousands of subscribers, they're not interested. I'll work on it. :)

Ok, that sounds good. I actually Thought about doing that for Fall Jackets.

I hope that means that you like it. :)

I will be buying a Beta LT and either an Atom AR or a Thorium, which would you recommend? I live in NYC if it helps
Both similar warmth (Thorium maybe warmer), but Atom AR works better as a midlayer under the Beta LT, slightly better fit due to being less bulky.
