    Can I be real for a second? I love the Watchmen movie. Yes I've read the book, yes the book is better, but I genuinely think Snyders film is the best possible film adaptation of Moores book.

      the movie followed the graphic novel extremely closely aside from aliens killing people and less dr manhattan flashbacks

      SAME. I read the comic shortly before the film came out, and thought the film was way better. It cut a bunch of irrelevant shit and gave it a better flow. And the ending made way more sense in the movie. The only advantage to a giant vagina with tentacles destroying a city is the snark bait.

    • @jedaaa
      @jedaaa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Then why don't you take it a step further and leave comic books behind entirely in favor of real literature?

    • @jiayojames
      @jiayojames 7 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      jedaaa comics like v for vendetta and watchmen are much more deeply layered than 90% of "real literature". The format doesn't really matter so much as the genius behind it...

    For me, the moral ambiguity of Watchmen is why its one of my favorite comic/graphic novels. It lets you choose who you think is right, and consequentially, the main events in the novel are seen differently by every person who reads it. The world needs more stories where bad and good aren't so polarized, and everyone occupies a grey area.

    My life is kinda tough. No way is it the worst life to live, but in my country the economy sucks, and getting a job is near impossible, even though I've graduated high school and college. Moreover my own family seems incapable of realising that obtaining a job now is stupidly difficult. Sometimes I just need a laugh and I feel relieved everytime I see a new video uploaded.
    Please keep the subscriber commentsection at the end. I love it.

      because he thinks comic books are REALLY pretty and wants to translate them to the screen.
      also says man of steel didn't have one is partially false. he has those slow-ish scenes that still try to work to the same effect. like him falling into water, Jesus-floating back down to earth, and tripping balls and sinking into skulls.

    • @J03Y42NA
      @J03Y42NA 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bohemian Rhapsody slowmo isn't why he's a bad director, it's his obsession with dark and grim color scheme and gritty super edge where it DOESNT need to be.

    • @DawryMike
      @DawryMike 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bohemian Rhapsody Not just the slo mo its his overuse of "moments". And I understand he is trying to recreate those comic book pictures. But what happens when he does this is I feel dejected from the scene. Its the reason I like marvel movies more than DC.

    I know that for the most part you guys do a tremendous amount of comedy and impart knowledge in the process, but this needs a repeat with a slightly more serious touch I think.There is so much you can discuss in Watchmen and while i doubt you would do a long video (20+ minutes), I think you should. You are the only channel on TH-cam which I not only trust implicitly to express deeply complicated issues, but to do so in a method which would make more people aware of the content that you're talking about. The Graphic novel is so rich in detail and story that I would greatly appreciate your continued touch (hehe) on the subject.

    Obviously you should do Earthling Cinema more often (assume it doesn't compromise the quality of it) in order to continue to preserve and comprehend Human story telling. It is a tragedy when a story and its meaning is lost, one of the reason I really hate reboots and I am quite spiteful of remakes. Even older movies have something to teach of it isn't the most relevant even more. It can remind us of ideas and concepts we have long forgotten. In a similar vein I would like to see Earthling Cinema tackle more of these concepts from films like Singing in the Rain, to the entire spectrum of Star Trek films, to even maybe some of the Charlie Chaplin era films. I wish you all the best and I must wait for another episode.

      That is actually a really interesting question.
      "Wasn't the action Ozy took not justified because he took the ability to choose from the humans?"
      He killed millions to save billions. But the question is if they would have died.
      We don't know. If the war was more certain in the comic is kind of irrelevant because the key feature of this question is more the problem of "is it ok to take away the possibility".
      In real life humanity chose to go the way of peace and therefore evolved into a species that is more able to work together than a human species who only has to work together when in danger.
      Therefore Ozy took our moment of evolving and left behind a human race that is unable to work together in order to find solutions peacefully.
      Basically what I'm saying is: Ozy made us degenerate and depending on leaders whereas the real world made us more mature as a race.
      Never thought about it like that. Thanks for the input m8.

      Juggernaut Dota I disagree with your comment about irl humans. As of late, we are still at each others throats in a society where rich people thrive whilst the poor have to work under them regardless of how intellectual or willing someone is... It is said we do need people to take the 'lowly' jobs but then why is it they are referred to as lowly when they are said to be just as important?
      Now that I think about it Watchmen raises some pretty good political points even more encouraged by how Rorschach and Ozymandias' contrast. Ozymandias clearly has everything but Rorschach is homeless having to eat beans from his friend cold beans at that. I think what we see as Ozymandias be Rorschach is really Rich vs Poor.
      My opinion on what Ozymandias did is that it was wrong idc what his reasons were because all it was, was speculation and that shouldn't justify mass murder. Although we saw a crime rampant town there had to be good people who died for nothing, people with futures, hopes and dreams taken away in a instant.
      Though Rorschach was clearly deranged his justice was fair, he punished those who wrongfully punished others and kept going, I'm not saying I condone his killing but that's a mindset that actually saw people as people in the streets compared to Ozymandias who thought he was doing the correct thing but could never understand from up in his high castle...

    If you can see the future, and your visions always come true, are our actions predetermined?

    • @andresarancio6696
      @andresarancio6696 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Can the visions change? If not, are they stone solid precise? Like, if you predict a train will run over a cat and you go your way to take it away from the rails and it still gets run over, because the train derailed, can you say your actions were predetermined, or that the actions in vision might have been different but carried the same result?

    • @Mister-Thirteen
      @Mister-Thirteen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Begs the question.
      Can the act of perceiving future events set those events in motion? Is Dr.Manhattan aware that the very act of observation change the state of a thing?
      To Dr.Manhattan the future events may seem predetermined because he is able to perceive the fullness of his temporal existence and thus to him all his action have already been made. However the question remains if this is an objective truth or merely the result of his perception as a fifth dimensional being in the same way that linear time may be a limitation f the human condition.

    • @ZanderSabbag
      @ZanderSabbag 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr.13 fifth dimension? Always thought time was the fourth.
      In any case, I think you captured the same point of view I was pondering when I made the comment. Awfully hard to describe this things.

    • @commandercorner5575
      @commandercorner5575 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zander Time is the fourth dimension, but Dr. Manhattan is a 5th dimensional being.

    • @Mister-Thirteen
      @Mister-Thirteen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its part of the philosophical problems of perception, truth & the human factor that makes these questions presently unanswerable. Just because Dr.Manhattan has a bird's eye view of the puzzle doesn't necessarily mean he isn't also limited by that perception.

    Watchmen is my favorite book/novel/comic/etc. It, along with Neil Gaiman's "Sandman", revolutionized the comic/graphic novel industry and made it a respected medium for storytelling. To see such a powerful, layered, and thought provoking piece of art mutilated into an edgy action movie by Zack "I'm too smart 4u" Snyder is criminal. The two most horrific crimes in my mind are:
    1. Glorifying violence, which the novel treats as grotesque and uses sparingly.
    2. Ozymandias, everything about him! He is painted as this cartoonish "big baddy" who monologs his evil and dastardly schemes instead of the tragic "hero" that he is. JUST EVERYTHING!

      +DAS BOOTZ I know this is waaaaaaay late but "Glorifying violence, which the novel treats as grotesque and uses sparingly." was one of the points of the movie dude. Snyder made it as a comment on where he saw comicbook movies going, and guess what ever since deadpool we are seeing a push for more mature and violent comicbook movies. I mean for fuck sake we got logan where you see him stab multiple dudes in the face. Again Ozy is a subversion of comicbook movie tropes. Christ I hate source material purists, so goddamn obnoxious.
