Either way, I don't think Liam was trying to communicate fear - though that would have been good for the movie thematically - these aliens don't always get us.
Rachel Ghul has a particular set of skills. Skills that he has acquired over a long period of time. Skills that make him a nightmare for people who dress up as bats
Melo MVP that's an opinion of yours man. I wouldn't put it in my top 100. Are you saying it's better than Schindlers List, Jurassic Park, Ex Machina, No Country for Old Men, Fight Club, Se7en, James Bond Casino Royale, James Bond Skyfall, Deadpool, Iron Man, Amadeus, Godfather parts 1 and 2, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, ChinaTown, Brazil, Alien, Aliens, Predator, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Fly (remake), The Thing (remake), Jaws, Toy Story 1,2,3, Gremlins, Ghost Busters, Lion King, Snow White, Citizen kane, Austin Powers, Fury Road, Dances with Wolves, Last of the Mohichans, Whiplash, True Lies, Goonies, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Terminator, T2, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Seven Samuria, Star Wars episodes 4,5,6, Force Awakens, Nightcrawler, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Stanley Kubrick's massively important films, etc. Should I go on? I easily could.
Well, as much as I hate ruining a joke by explaining it, the implications are clear: the act of human terrorism will continue to not only exist but expand far enough into the future that we carry it with us into the stars. That may seem like a given, but that really makes it that much more awful. It's really some incredibly black humor for a joke to throw out in passing.
maX Volnutt Well, I assumed they made some kind of unintentional/unlucky reference that they didn't pick up on, not that you were just refering to the literal joke they made. "Unintentionally" might not have been the word you were looking for. To be completely nitpicky, "into the stars" isn't really the case as well, since Mercury is in the same solar system. I don't even agree that it is that dark of a joke. Why wouldn't there always be some kind of terrorism? That is just a given, except you think that humanity will somehow completely change as soon as we start populating other planets. Why wouldn't there still be radical groups with different ideologies, fighting it out?
I don't want to start an argument, but that response is a combination of too nitpicky and not nitpicky enough just for the sake of being contrarian. As I stated, of course it's a given. That's exactly why it's so dark. Can you really think of anything bleaker than offhandedly accepting humanity's inhumanity to man as a inalienable fact? Isn't it sad to think that we will someday (a long way off, we're nowhere near close right now) evolve enough technologically to colonize the most uninhabitable worlds in our solar system, but not evolve enough culturally to quit murdering each other so much. Existentially, there's a lot to unpack in that joke. Though, you're right, it may have been intentional. Oh, and 'into the stars' is just an expression. :p
Huh, some interesting interpretations. The one at the end about Liam Neeson/Ghul exposing his fear of death by closing his eyes, well I always looked at it like he's simply preparing himself for the moment, not fearful.
Joshua Barnett Exactly. And maybe a little prayer or whatnot. Just setting himself right. And he _was_ a highly trained spiritual warrior, however arguably misguided or incorrect in his views and methods, which are another matter.
Although the question remains, why close your eyes, if you've accepted this moment? Why not face it right on? Or like it's said in my country, "take the devil out to dance"?
I have been a Batman fan since early 90s when Batman The Animated Series was airing...and back then I was 4-5 yrs old. So I know what I'm taking about.
It's insane how lucky we got with these movies. Actual good movies with characters who feel real and are well written? What I hate most tho are the snobs who scoff at the idea of superhero movies. Would you not watch a movie because the lead is male or female? How about if it's animated? Or a western? Good storytelling starts with the characters. The costumes and powers are almost irrelevant. Spider-Man 2, TDK trilogy, the good X-men movies, and the good MCU movies prove that.
Imagine all the work it must take to watch and process the movie, throw out its original meaning to look at it at face value, and finally make sure each constructed sentence in the video is actual comedic gold.
I would love for Christian Bale to show up in one of the new DC cinematic universe films. For instance, Flash could use his multiverse/timetravel ability to accidentally stumble upon Bale's Batman, maybe he's having drinks with models or something Bruce Wayney, seeing as I don't think Christian would ever get in that headachey suit for a small cameo. It'd be so mindblowing.
Here's an idea for a drinking game: Every time Garyx says "Rachel Ghul", take a shot. I mean, not the way shots were taken at Bruce's parents, of course.
The video is wonderful, although I'd like to point out a slight error;the antagonist's name is Ra's Al Ghul and not Rachel Ghoul. The video is amazing and enlightening.
Ah, man I love this movie. Definitely the most underrated Batman film IMO. Dark Knight is good, but I don't think that Batman Begins deserves to be overshadowed by it. People complain about Batman Begins feeling like two separate movies, but I think that the writer tied everything together well enough that it feels streamlined. The story moves along at just the right pace. Don't listen to me. I'm probably just being a contrarian douche.
They switch back and forth. It's weird because they hear it properly but still don't say it right? Even when Oliver became him? Edit: My comment is reference to Arrow. This video is satirical and funny as f*ck
I'm sorry and sad to say that as a long time fan of this series and Nolan's Batman, but this video was weaker than your others. The part about terrorism and the fear of it in the USA after 9/11 was fine. But Batman as a character is quite deep and there's so much more to explore. To name just one example: You talked about terrorism, Scarecrow, his poisonous gas and fear, but ignored, that Bruce Wayne becoming Batman is a way of overcoming his greatest fear. Even turning into what he feared most as a child, when falling into the old well and being surrounded by bats. He found a way of overcoming his biggest fear, by truly accepting it deep below.
you guys are the best!!!! keep up the great work!!! plz do: 1) the princess bride 2) finding Nemo 3) tangled 4) the little mermaid 5) into the woods 6) Indiana Jones 7) the martin 8) now you see me 1,2 9) toy story 1,2 10) HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the hidden meaning behind the exorcist. i feel like there's a lot of metaphor in it about dads and the lack there of. i found it kinda interesting that its only when the dad arrives home that the demon is finally exorcised.

You know what would be some fun shows to analyze? Something like Dr. Who, Supernatural, or once upon a time. They have a lot of fun and differing views throughout the show that can be fun. However they are not that subtle with them as I'd like. Or you can do Bojack Horseman, fantastic philosophical fodder
Personally I always thought Ra's al Ghul closed his eyes cause he was accepting death, something he refused to do for centuries
I still think it could've been done something more creative to express that
I think that it was just the moment when he realized that he f*cked up.
Crick1952 well that's what makes the most sense
Either way, I don't think Liam was trying to communicate fear - though that would have been good for the movie thematically - these aliens don't always get us.
Crick1952 Wait, did they even mention the whole immortality thing in the movie?
Rachel Ghul, I'm fucking dead
same XD
Not to be confused with Rachael Daws, Bruce's schoolyard crush.
comedy gold
Do scarface
Rachel Ghul has a particular set of skills. Skills that he has acquired over a long period of time. Skills that make him a nightmare for people who dress up as bats

9/11 an "outside" job
steel beams darude sandstorm
What about magnificent 7, why didn't it collapse.
7/11 WAS A PART TIME JOB
I think he meant the conspiracy is that it was an outside job.
Because he is from the future and they know the truth in that time.
it was an outside job until the plane went in
"...And later Mercury," may unintentionally be the darkest joke this show has ever made.
... because?
Well, as much as I hate ruining a joke by explaining it, the implications are clear: the act of human terrorism will continue to not only exist but expand far enough into the future that we carry it with us into the stars. That may seem like a given, but that really makes it that much more awful. It's really some incredibly black humor for a joke to throw out in passing.

Oh, and 'into the stars' is just an expression. :p
How so?
Huh, some interesting interpretations. The one at the end about Liam Neeson/Ghul exposing his fear of death by closing his eyes, well I always looked at it like he's simply preparing himself for the moment, not fearful.
2cents that's how I always viewed it to, he closed his eyes and raised his head as if to say he was ready to accept his fate
Joshua Barnett
Exactly.
@ Eris, Or why not close the eyes? It doesn't imply fear. I suppose we could ask a member of his organization.
2cents
But it doesn't imply acceptance either. He's not "seeing things as they are" you know?
And LOL if only, that'd be much easier. :P
I always read Neeson's expression on the train as it plummets and he closes his eyes as more of a resignation to defeat than a look of fear.
Please tell me you guys are gonna do the whole Nolan trilogy because I've been needing more Batman x Wisecrack stuff
Oh you know you gotta do Dark Knight Rises now.
Jonny Lupus
If he forces a Bane reference, will he die?
Hes a big guy

"... and later on on Mercury" - I watch this show for little jewels like this
"Famously, an outside job."
Hahaha
"Like they did on earth and later mercury." I'd read a sci-fi written by you guys in a heart beat.
I have been a Batman fan since early 90s when Batman The Animated Series was airing...and back then I was 4-5 yrs old.

There's no such thing as 'good' X-Men movies.
Christoph Sedaka X-Men, X2, First Class, and DOFP say whatup fam
X-Men doesn't really hold up imo, but X2, DOFP and especially First Class are topnotch
Alex Love
I stand by my initial assertion. So, nothing is up "fam".
Christoph Sedaka It's ok. Some people have to be wrong in life
"You don't get to call yourself a league for nothing" Tell that to Zack Snyder
"Rachel Ghul"...gets me every time.
Imagine all the work it must take to watch and process the movie, throw out its original meaning to look at it at face value, and finally make sure each constructed sentence in the video is actual comedic gold.

Why have these guys not done a video on Black Mirror?
All the throwaway jokes are too much. So freaking funny, I'd lose track of which ones are my favorite.
Anyone else close their eyes with the eyebrow man
Very powerful
I'm 5min into this video and it seems more like a review than hidden meaning

raysh - al - ghoul. Ra's Al-Ghul. Not hard to pronounce
They switch back and forth. It's weird because they hear it properly but still don't say it right? Even when Oliver became him? Edit: My comment is reference to Arrow. This video is satirical and funny as f*ck
You do know it was mispronounced purposely, right? Just like how "Lance Armband" was not the first man on the moon, despite what the video says.
It just wasn't funny.
I so LOVE this series - MORE Please !
Do hidden meaning in LOST IN TRANSLATION
Only the host could pronounce Rahs Al Ghul (?) as "Rachel"!
