He's changed his ways. instead of focusing on actual sins, he takes it less seriously and just does comedic sins. if you want to see videos that can be taken mostly seriously, you should watch some of his older ones, back when he did it for the actual movie sins.

They can label all valid criticism as real and label all mistakes as "jokes". Here's the problem: When someone has to explain that cinemasins is joking then the joke immediately fails. Having to explain a joke over and over means the joke failed. Good examples of satire and parody media are The Onion and pretty much all Mel Brooks movies. They fit in commentary and criticism with jokes so well that the message isn't lost while remaining hilarious. If Mel Brooks had to come out and explain why his movies are funny, his movies would no longer be funny.

Adding sins specifically to piss people off gets more people commenting, liking/disliking and sharing. Then when people complain about said inaccuracies they can go "haha stupid nerd is mad", and they're right. You are a stupid, mad nerd.
Another example of this in this video is when he added a sin for the "You're locked in here with me!" line. It's one of the most badass lines in cinema history, we know it, they know it and we know they know it, but they add a sin for it anyway to make nerds mad.

+Animeality Plot holes are pretty rare. I don't think I've seen a Cinema Sins yet that points one out.
+Animeality that's because most people don't care enough to think the sins through if they don't like the movie. thus the occasional poorly structured sins in each video go unnoticed. this is basic psychology, just like your statement is an attempt to make yourself feel intellectually superior by being condescending towards people you and many others view as inferior. like what i'm doing right now, with a few differences of exaction.

+K IRA Actually, most people do not love it. Most are indifferent, a good amount dislike the movie, and a loud minority online backed up by some pandering critics love it.
Is it awful? No. Does it have a lot of interesting qualities to it? Sure. Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it entertaining to everyone? No.
Same goes for the original comic which is vastly overrated simply because its a grimdark deconstruction of the medium.

As much as I love this video and CinemaSins in general, I'm not sure I can condone any situation in which "All Along the Watchtower", or any Hendrix song for that matter, gets sinned, regardless of the circumstances.

It was the usage of the song in a particular situation that was sinful, not the song itself. Based on the history of how the song has been used in film, it was an unoriginal, uninspired choice and it cheapened the moment.

99 Luftballons is a song about the Cold War and the fear of an eventual nuclear apocalypse, the Watchmen universe still has the Cold War and the fear of an eventual nuclear apocalypse, going so far as having the whole story being set around this scenario, so 99 Luftballons still existing in that universe is not weird at all

Think about what is coming after his "win". He loses and this plan was the dumbest thing I ever heard. That is even more sad because the rest of the movie is quite good. Ozymandias plan was stupid and according to the diary at the end it could or could not work.
the plan actualy makes sense as long as Dr Manhattan appears once in a while to show that he is still a "threat"
Aldrich Leblanc First, it was a squid. Second, the plan was that the appearance of the squid and the fact that it caused the near-instant death of half of New York would cause the entire world to stop their wars and come together to fight the perceived alien threat. Thirdly, there was a ton of subtle foreshadowing sprinkled throughout the book.
Except would the powers of the world agree to stand with the USA to thwart Manhattan when they know he's an American weapon? The US created him and used him for their malicious purposes, and the rest of the world knows this. This is why the ending without the squid makes no sense to me. To me Russia would be equally enraged at the US for not keeping control over their weapon.

I truly LOVED this film.
Aside from the removal of the psychic squid "alien" and the pirate side story, it is STILL the closest to the source material superhero film ive ever seen.

@@Artrysa In places pages from the graphic novel have been used almost as story boards for the film. Moreover, a lot of the dialogue is word-for-word. I have both the novel and the film: different but equal imo.
The Ultimate Cut has the pirate story, and you can also watch it on its own.
@@hertog3094I don’t know if that’s a failing on Moore’s part, though. I definitely agree that this one of the most faithful adaptations I’ve seen, but if they had included everything from the graphic novel, this could’ve easily been 8 hours of film. You lose a lot of nuance when translating to the screen, but I still think it’s fantastic. The ultimate director’s cut is nearly 4 hours long, and it still isn’t quite enough to cover all of the ground.

this movie proves people dont know what they want, when people say "why cant they just take the comic book and put it on screen?!!" , well, this is easily 90% like the graphic novel, I have found in this new day and age, that whats trending and popular, is usually not the best thing. If you dont like Watchmen thats fine, but you cannot say that this movie and the people involved in it didnt have the balls to pull this off, this movie is a rare and unique achievement and better than any of the current Marvel or DC stuff.

+Schwartzbruder1 Though what's critically the best stuff isn't always actually the best stuff for wide appeal. That's why Birdman (despite winning a ton of 2014's Oscars) didn't make a lot of money, and that's why Watchmen can be "critically one of the best novels in the english language" and have a large number of detractors.
P.S. Ever tried to read Ulysses by James Joyce? It routinely comes out on top of best novel ever lists, but it's insanely hard to read and follow. The author just makes up words at times, uses Latin and Middle English, and will run on sentences for pages at a time.
Hemlockable a sex scene in a magic fucking submarine, more like. I'm surprised they didn't sin that. Stupid lump has is a perfect aircraft with tiny engines, no visible fuel source, no heat creation, and no freaking explanation (though maybe they throw in a Dr Manhattan hand-wave in the graphic novel).
With those engines, we could have had cheap to free space travel, and since I assume we still hit the Moon in 1969, even in the 1980s we'd be gaga for space. If Veigt could set up an orbiting space hotel and space tourism, he wouldn't even need to worry about the Cold War.

If you look at the videos he's done that were really good films that he enjoyed, you'd find that he didn't find as many things to nitpick at than other films. This movie has obvious problems that didn't need nitpicking, and not a lot of people even liked this film.

I thought that Watchmen was such an underrated film. From a visual standpoint, it was stunning. The opening credits scene was so artfully done, that if the Oscars had a category called "Best Opening Credits", it would have won it.

He wasn't omnicient. So he couldn't see all the VC to kill them all. Could only kill the ones he saw. But the war of attrition that we fought, and that Manhattan fought didn't win it for us, and I would say that wouldn't have won it for him. That's not the strategy that won it for the VC. It was territorial ocupation that won it for them. Very simple strategy. The US kills some VC, and the VC kill some nearby villiagers. So the villiagers hate, or pretend they hate, the US because the US brings the VC retaliation. Even when many like the US they can't say so. They would be the first ones pointed out by the rest of the villiagers to save their lives. "He likes the US. He said so." So everybody has to say how they hate the US. How would the US know any different? Empathetically the US could know people don't like people who come in and kill, and mutilate them, and their kids. But it was clearly hard for the US to dredge up empathy in those times.

Really? You didn't remove a sin for, "None of you understand. I'm not stuck in here with you. You're stuck in here with me."? That's one of the greatest Rorshach moments in the movie and therefore one of the greatest superhero moments ever.

The cinemasins guys said that they were aware of that, and that this sin is just there as a joke. Which is a justification i don't get. Like a child trying to do a cool skateboard trick, and then faceplanting on the curb. Doesn't matter if its intentional; it's still dumb

miguel acosta I disagree. This movie showed "superheroes" who were actually grounded in reality. They had flaws. They weren't perfect. They chose the wrong things.
Flawed characters are way more interesting than perfect superheroes.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Marvel cinematic universe, but for instance Captain America? He has no real flaws. He's boring as a superhero, because we know he'll choose to do the right thing anyways.
Rebooted i also disagree, CA's flaw is that he is a goody boy scout, and he always wants a battle to happen. Anyways, yeah, the concept of this film is pretty cool, but i don't think it was done well. I did like the plot twist, but the whole process to get there was super boring.
Just for trivia's sake the Gotham Opera House is a real place that used to be in Manhattan. My father was a patron, which is ironic because his middle name was Wayne.

I think you should understand what you're taking the piss out of before you start taking the piss. None of them (Dr Manhattan aside) have superpowers.
Which means you missed a sin for Ozzymandias' superstrength in the opening scene. Although the comics hint that he has genetically engineered himself.
Does the film make that clear though? I mean the blue guy is basically god and the mask guy has a moving mask, someone just watching would assume these guys are super heroes, i cant remember if the film ever actually states what powers/lack of powers the characters have. Also most people havent read the comic so it makes no difference what it suggests

I don't understand. Why did you sin manhattan watching comedian kill that pregnant woman? They literally tell that dr. manhattan watched it because he doesn't care one scene later.
Because they want to have it both ways. They have Manhattan later say "Ok, human life matters after all. I'm back," but they also have him be an emotionless douchebag. It's bad writing. Do one or the other, you can't do both.
And his shocked look means he obviously does care. If he didn't care then he wouldn't have said anything or reacted at all.

Watchmen was a nigh-perfect adaption that came out at an imperfect time. It was a critique and deconstruction of a film genre that hadn't fully matured yet. Had Watchmen come out this year, I guarantee it would have been a critical and commercial success.

So, this is a universe where Batman never exists. Really clever stuff, I think. I'm not sure if he was adding that sin "Ironically" or whatever.

Sure, it wasn't a _bad_ film, certainly wasn't the best, but it tried hard to tell it's story. It's a cult film that fills a demand, not a grand cinematic accomplishment. Even I'd admit that V for Vendetta was a cult film and not something to hold up as infalliable, and I personally loved that film. Niche audiences means that there will always be someone to enjoy it as time goes on. That's the nature of such films, to appeal to specific audiences by doing something(s) differently than traditional media.

+B Arnold The entire point of those flashbacks being so disjointed is that Dr. Manhattan doesn't perceive time as we do. The movie is far from perfect, but a lot of these sins were things that seem like they have obvious explanations...

The time jumping, especially during Dr. Manhattan's segment, is supposed to be a little bit of how he sees time. Everything happening all at once and not in any real order while still being in order. Confusing? Yes. That's part of the point.

Sorry, I meant odd as in how I felt the whole film felt "odd". It wasn't a direct remark about the flashbacks, though I should've clarified that to begin with. It should be noted that I also emphasized that I didn't think it was a bad film either. Just odd/strange/weird. As far as niche films / cult films go, that's par for the course with a lot of people.
Sin 11 is NOT a sin (1:02). The opening credits is showing us the alternate history in the Watchmen Universe. That's a Batman Easter egg. That is Martha and Thomas Wayne (to the left) leaving the theatre and that's Nite Owl who stops the mugger, Joe Chill, from robbing and killing them thus preventing the creation of Batman in the first place. By far my favorite easter egg of all time.

That's not correct. When Manhattan sent everyone out of the studio in the original, he sent them all to the parking lot. Hollister commented on this to Dan later on. It was during the 1977 riots, when Manhattan cleared the streets, that he sent people to their homes. And three people had heart attacks.
