My son who’s in Japan (marines) just FaceTime me yesterday about this hood for he’s STI 🙂 totally love your video thank you now I’m convinced I’ll save up money for he’s STI I will surprise him thank you very nice video!.... 🙂 God Bless!!! 😇
Nice choice in the hood. I have the same exact hood on my 2020 sti and my fitment is about a 9.5 out of 10. One thing though is I highly recommend hood pins of some sort. The metal sleeve that are molded into the cf and fiber glass area of the hood that holds the bolts are not that great if you looked closely and I dont trust it even just for street use. I used quik latch on mine for extra security. Should note that the hood weight is almost exact as the stock and no weight saving as I would have thought.
I am also shocked that it fit so well. I personally have never had a hood fit well. Then again I always have got Seibon. NO MORE! Thank you so much for taking time to show the install video!
Best STI in TH-cam!
Subaru OUTBACK 2021 Owner here....love the vehicle...just perfect for fishing trip!
Looks awesome! Just my personal opinion, but I think wrapping/painting the hood while leaving the carbon showing on the vents would be SUPER clean. Pretty much any way you do it, that hood looks awesome.
It’s in the plans!
Super cool to know the fender adjustments are possible. Literally never thought about that. Feels like an Easter egg!
Leave it unpainted! Looks 👌🔥
Why would you paint it? I believe the stock hood is aluminum, if you were going to paint it should just paint original. It's not really a weight loss
Thank you for this video as I am in the process of saving up and buying one myself. This was detailed and informative especially the fitment part, which in a lot of other install videos miss. Chris you the MVP for this, can't express how great this video is.
I’m glad you liked it! Every hood video I’ve come across never showed the details. I wanted to change that to help people like us that want to know every little thing on how to install and perfect fitment.
@@Autofreakgarage Exactly, my OCD kicks when the fitment ain't right, much respect and keep doing your thing!
Looks amazing. Cant wait to get one. If you drive highway I highly recommend getting hood latches. Seen a bunch of people break their windshield and ruin their hood from the latch area on carbon fiber hoods breaking.
Looks dope as hell 🔥you should look into getting it liquid wrapped(looks the same as gloss paint) instead of painting it, just incase you change your mind on it
Thank you for going through the adjustments. I just installed mine and couldn’t get the alignment right.
Very nice. Cool video. Good work all around. Nice video edit as well. Hope wife and baby are ready to go racing Subaru style. I'm trying to update my 09 Forester. Recently upgraded the stock radio. Be well.
You just keep making my favorite STI even better! Thanks for the inspiration!
Well done !! Explains everything going on with the hood very detailed video
Nice. That OCD got the better of you I see .. I’m the same way 😂 good to know it fits with OCD
I'm drooling like Homer Simpson wishing for a jelly donut!
If you paint and dont like it would it mess up the hood if you choose to unpaint it. I just feel like a wrap would be a better option idk or just leave it unpainted
My Seibon CF hood I had on my cruze would kinda flex up and down on speeds of 65+ mph, was using the stock hood latch but never had it fly up. Looks good, now get the trunk lid ;) haha
I've seen the carbon fiber hood with rally blue and I love the contrast, the thing is that my car it's the same color as yours and I was a bit skeptical of the color matching between lapis blue and carbon fiber but I think it fits
It works well on darker colors since it blends and not as in your face.
I am thinking of doing this for my Crosstrek. Mainly because the current hood looks like Swiss chess with all the rock chips, and it will match it's CF accents and look cool overall.
Some said I would need hood pins also, glad you addressed that. I rarely drive over 75-80.
Can you recommend a good source? Some people also said some are "fake" CF.
Also, what was the weight difference?
Thanks for sharing the finite details, so informative and your research and planning benefit us all. Great work👍👌
Ill be ordering this hood in the next few weeks for my wrx! also what headlights are those Scooby?
The are modified OEM headlights

Because of you dude, I just got the VIS trunk snd hood! The hood looks awesome btw with the blue👌🏽😍
🤟🏻
This hood looks way better than the Seibon one 👌🏽
Love the attention to detail man! Great vid and great build!!! I need that push pin assortment 😂
Damn haha this brought the ocd out of me haha now i gotta look at my fitment after a year of not checking. And with with the hood pins i dont run them on my hood and the car has seen speeds of 90+ with zero problems
Good to know!
fitment looks spot on. just came across your channel yesterday. what wheels are you currently running?
Wedssports Tc105x
I had to do washes on my seibon hood to. Awesome job. Looks amazing.
sick vid as usual. fitment looks amazing leave it unpainted!
great video, I might get it in the near future on my gun metallic Sti would look smooth on that color.
and congrats on the baby. God bless
Thank you so much for all the fitment tips! Looks amazing!
100% love the painted look, slippery slope between classy and clean to full rice... how do you go with adding ceramic coat an painting later? will it make blending near the vent an issue for the painter or can ceramic coat be removed easily?
Before paint, the entire gel coat gets stripped so the ceramic would be removed prior to painting.
Perfect choice 👌 love the hood... You convince me to buy another carbon fiber hood for my car. SH*T!!!
Try Pristinemotorsports when ready to paint located in Astoria Queens. They do high end cars. There work is serious.
Clean hood and great video 👍🔥
Love your videos. Thank you for the details!!!
I'm a newish owner of a white stage 3 '16 sti limited. Your videos are so informative. Thanks for taking the time out to do this man. Question - Why did you choose the VIS vs. the Seibon? I'm personally leaning towards the VIS for a couple of reasons(functionality) and I'm curious as to what your thoughts were.
Check out this video if you haven’t th-cam.com/video/1_DdAAo1NSk/w-d-xo.html
@@Autofreakgarage Just watched it and exactly what I was looking for thanks man!
Looks great, nice job man!!!!!!!
How'd the work ZR10s work out? Strongly considering them for my WRBP but all torn up on the color options. Hood looks great! looking forward to seeing it painted
I sold them a week after mounting them. Good looking wheel, but it didn’t work on my application.
@@Autofreakgarage Oof! well they delivered me to your channel at least. ha
Great looking my man! It’s even better that it’s functional.
Love the hood, but idk, I like my color matched hood. Do they make blue carbon fiber?! Haha! Cheers!
Looks amazing on that color! Great video! Keep it up!
oh did you check the weight difference between the stock and the Carbon fiber? I realize the stock hood is so light it shocked me compared to other sports car.
Yea it’s very light. They felt very similar in weight. Shipping weight was 45lbs and that is with the boxes and shipping material. I’d say probably around 30-35lbs.
Looks amazing love the attention to detail!
That intro was 🔥🔥🔥
Haha thanks. Crazy how long it takes to edit something that short. But worth it.
Fixing to put my order in for that same exact hood! If you don't mind can I ask how much and where you got yours? Ive found it from $1200-$1500 with shipping ranging from $0-$350. I just wanna make sure I'm buying from a reputable place. Thanks in advance.
Hit up the mod garage and tell the I sent you.
What hood is that? Could you comment the link?
Thanks for sharing, I just installed my aftermarket C.F. hood and the front and front sides lines up perfectly. But one side, (driver side is slightly higher.) Should I be concerned?
You’re going to have to play with the fitment to get it to for flush.
@@Autofreakgarage everything looks even except the driver side. Could that just be the cut of it? Also it should be fine to drive. Everything is screwed in and latched. T.I.A.
You can space one side out to dip the other side down to make it more even. I did this on the passenger side and it fit very well. Also check the bump stops on the front. Screw your driver side down a bit so it sits a bit lower.
@@Autofreakgarage will try for sure. Thank you for all the help
I dig it but, will you upgrade the front splitter/side skirts to carbon cuz they kinda clash with the hood/side mirrors?
Sure. Send me 2k via PayPal and I’ll get right on that haha.
Superb hood... why have you removed it recently?
Sold it and went back to the stock hood
@@Autofreakgarage why back to stock and not anything else like the previous.. something carbon or vented and btw are the vents any significant cz I'm thinking about them
Was tired of dealing with the vents with weather and car washes. Engine bay would get destroyed even with the rain guards. Also, the weight as the carbon hood was way heavier than the stock aluminum hood.
Thanks for the infos man!! Keep inspiring us with your beautiful car🔥🔥
hey man, if its okay to ask, how long did u have to wait for your vis hood? and where did u order it? Lovin the build!
Ordered it from the mod garage. It was about 5 weeks from ordering to it being delivered.
@@Autofreakgarage hey boss, got the vis hood finally, My passenger side is fine however my driver side has a small yet noticeable gap between the hood and the fender? Whats the best way on how to adjust the hood?
Adjust the fender with the 3 bolts. You can close the gap a bit and make it even.
Are they just as strong as the regular hoods? As far as normal use? Or is there things to consider as far as them being delicate etc
Yes just as durable
Looking good buddy!!🤙🤙🤙
My hood seems to dipped down too much even with the bump stop maxed out(right side) and also the hood from the back seems a little too low, adding washers would help? thanks!
Add washers to the hood latch as well as the hinge bolts. See what works for you and it’ll even out.
@@Autofreakgarage thanks for the quick response! Lot of your content inspired my wrx! 💪🏼
that looks great !!
Is there a substantial difference in the weight of the VIS vs OEM?
OEM is aluminum so it’s not much lighter.
If you could answer man where u got the taillights n headlihhts from pls ?

th-cam.com/video/KMNBGaXgbRs/w-d-xo.html
Why not wrap it lapis blue instead of paint it? That way you can reverse it in case you change your mind and want it all carbon down the line. That carbon is beautiful
Wouldn’t look anywhere near as good as paint. I’m not a fan of wraps and how they look. They appeal to people who want a quick change, but don’t care about the overall quality of their build. Wraps look good for about a week.
@@Autofreakgarage I don’t think it’s really fair to say that people who wrap their cars don’t care about the quality of their build (ie Subzeru’s subie, Chris Borges’ mustang) Wraps appeal bc they’re temporary. I respect your choice to paint the hood, but not your blanket statement about wraps being a determining factor of “quality” builds.
Just my opinion. A lot of yotubers and automotive influencers take the wrap route because it’s the cheaper option. Not because it’s temporary. It’s all about price and getting the most views as quickly as possible. Painting takes longer and is 2-3x the cost of a wrap.
Looking 🔥🔥🚀🚀
Link to where you bought the pop clip kit ?
amzn.to/3mlbWxV
for the hood latch did u use spacers or washers
Washers
Link for the hood?
What hood is this?
Did the rain guards come with the hood?
Yes
@@Autofreakgarage thank you!!
Are you going to get hood latches?
This is explained and gone over in the video.
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeesh
Varis who
what band? where did u get the hood ?
It’s in the title.
Wow สุดยอดเลยครับ สวยงามๆๆๆ
How much weight do you save ?
Probably not much. The stock hood is very light.
Plain and simple. DO NOT PAINT IT!
Really prefer the original one. But the goal is to have a car you love. Good job ;-)
Trust the process 👌🏻
