Congrats on going stage 3. I have a 2019 STI. Love the car but know that there is more potential than what it came with from the factory. Saving $$$ to get there one day!!
Congratulations mate. Thank you for showing discipline & self control in your build. Nothing like seeing someone being so proud in creating a reliable build purely for their own enjoyment. Can hear every bit of your joy. Keep it up.
it still sounds like its a really fun street car. I just traded in my 2019 STI for a 2021 STI, got an offer I couldn't refuse. I eventually will be performing mods for the power train and I am aware the RA blocks are more stout. It all comes down to the tune. Also, the way I look at it, the STI is a totally different experience compared to the M2 or RS3. Even with the money you put into it, it still isnt the same cost as one of them and you're probably keeping up or beating them in a race.
& around a track at equal power levels unless you run into an M2 comp or CS * 💀 I had an R & was saving for an RS3 till the prices went parabolic. Didn't know about the understeer issue they had till after. MQB chasis cars are fun but everything about the STI just feels right. The confidence that the car is going where you point that wheel regardless of the surface is what won me over.
Just about done with my build. Picked up an 06 STI with a blown motor, threw in a stage 2 iag short block, blouche 3.0 xtr dominator, flex fuel kit, fuel pressure regulator, 3 inch turbo back exhaust with cats and resonator, catless up pipe, ID 1050s, spearco 4inch tmic, Cobb turbo inlet and cold air intake, and a few other little things. Went and got it tuned, ended up needing a bigger fuel pump to run e85 and more boost. So I'm on a low boost tune at 16lbs pushing 340 to the wheels. Once I get the fuel pump in and we can run more boost and e85 I should be around 450. It's a long process but totally worth it 🤘 I love your car btw, super clean. Great video.
@@thedon9670 I actually ended up using the 1050s and have 453 whp. I wish I could go back and use the 1300s and still have the flex fuel ability with my Cobb accessport but unfortunately they took that away for my model year on the Cobb flex kit.
$12k for 80whp hurts, obviously you could get a decent bit more but definitely still stings. All a part of the Subie life though lol, beautiful car and a very high quality build.
It’s because he had a shop do most of the work and it’s a 2017. My 2020 pulled 306/332 on a dyno tune with just a grimmspeed drop in filter. He also has a lot more head room with the parts he put in he just didn’t go super aggressive.
That's what's holding me back from getting an sti right now. Not sure flat 4 rumble is enough to justify how much it would cost to make power reliabily with these things.
That’s crazy I’ve been building my 18’ Type R and priced out all the part to go from 303 whp to 450whp and it’d be less than what you spent on these mods. Love the car bro everyone love likes something different 🙏🏻
Heard that injectors and fuel ⛽️ pump were limiting components. Did not know the OEM glass ceiling though. So assuming 15% losses OEM WHP is roughly 260 and torque 247 ft lbs. In round numbers your STI jumped to 340, a 80 WHP gain and 350 ft lbs a 103 ft lbs gain. Very respectable and easily felt by the “butt dyno” and initiated at lower revs, 3300 rpm, approaching DIT FA 20 territory. Happy “spirited” 🏎💨 but legal motoring.
Awesome man! I love how you always go for the highest quality parts possible. So many people seem to cheap out to save a few hundred bucks, and then they complain when they have a header with holes melted in it after a few years. I’d rather save longer and buy quality. Anyway, can’t wait for those sound comparison clips!
Stock here. Worth more that way than modded when I go to get a 2022 with 400hp with a warranty….. You did it tastefully, but I like the idea of updating more.
12k and still stock internals??? Where do you live? If you live in SoCalifornia that cost will get you 600+ hp in most shops with everything forged with a protune included. As long as you're happy bro that's the whole point. Love your STI. One of the cleanest that I've seen on YT. Much respect. More vid clips please!!!
You are correct on keeping it under 350 hp, but as important is keeping torque as low as possible. My '16 wrx popsicle sticks for piston rods. These cars must be dyno tuned!!
when i got my 2019 STI i got it from the first owner. he had it somewhere between stage 2 and stage 3. and this guy is not lying about stock injectors with a turbo inlet and downpipe. before i upgraded my injectors i would see 100-105% injector duty cycle when WOT. you can do it. but it is not safe. if your at 100% injector duty and you encounter a lean condition the ecu has nothing it can do, there is no more fuel to give. then BAM blown up EJ
I had a WS6 trans am and I bought an 09 WRX with stage 2 I was thinking I would just flip it and make a little bit. I liked the SUB so much I sold the T/A
greeting from germany! i got my 2016 sti engine recently built for about 450Hp. pistons and all the stuff you need to make it not blow up at that power. (costs about 15k€) had to send the engine to a engine builder specialist for that. then my local shop f‘ed up the engine install (failed to correcly bleed the water cooling system) and cooked my poor engine to death! the engine only had 51.000km on it. fortunately they completely paid for the new engine. dont know if you heard of them but now i have a stage 1 block from subiperformance :) should be pretty reliable with that. looking forward for the tune it will be receiving soon! had to break in the new engine obviously… good luck with yours, may it run strong and long!
thank you for the explanation, I have a 17 STI, I plan to go cobb downpipe with a AWE exhaust for straight up stage II, no mods to the intake or intercooler. Good to know that a stage III will be the only way to bolt on the intake. I went with stage II turbo back exhaust because it would put me at a sweet spot for power without having to jump into fuel upgrades.
I'm on month 9 of trying to get my hooptie back on the road, I would GLADY have paid $2500 back when I started to have someone else build this turd for me. You're a smart man for having a professional shop take that stress for you... money well spent I'd say.
For not having a front mount not too shabby my friend.. I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face these cars they come from factory needing a tune.. once you do smooth linear power.. And your saying to yourself it was worth the overtime at work 🤣🤣
WOOOOOOOOO as a Canadian you dropped an extra 15k in mods on top of the price of the car, damn son. But hey, this ride is gorgeous so worth it since you could afford it.
Best video I’ve seen with good explaining on every cent that has been spent on a vehicle. My man people should definitely start doing videos like you. At least like this one.
that is a very high $ per HP ratio, but i totally get it being a subaru fanboy myself. i have had several and currently own my 2019 sti (stage2). but like this guy says, he got the very good parts, from what he says is a great installer, but that being said it looks AWESOME! i would say you could make the power he is making for about 5k between he fueling system, intake, and tuning tools and exhaust mods. you could forego the headers, the intercooler, bpv and the high end CF bits. you could reach this level of performance for like 4K-5k assuming you can install all your own stuff. but like i said, he did this for reliability, and he has some seriously great stuff. i love the build. looks super good my man!
Brooo haha i felt that "oh god" haha when i added up everything i have ever spent on my car im looking at around 16k haha some bs haha but if you divide it by 4 years its not much haha. I need to upgrade my fueling. Right now brentuning tuned my car with intake and dp and havent had any issues. But i will do that and get it dyno tuned hopefully next year
Guys don’t be intimidated by his end cost! I went stage 3+ with all supporting mods and all from reputable brands for just under 7k (and that’s without cutting any corners).Of course I installed all the parts myself so I saved huge. It’s all about how you source your parts! Let Facebook groups and OfferUp be your best friend!
Absolutely the way to go if you want to save a bunch! I love installing stuff myself, but felt more comfortable having a shop do it all. Just wanted to show everyone an example of what it takes to hand it over to a trust worthy shop.
@@Autofreakgarage I 100% agree! you don't know how long I dreaded installing all the parts I purchased, but was NOT going to pay through the nose to have a shop install them. Nothing wrong with giving a shop some good rep! could also mean discounted services in the future ! smart man
It's crazy how much cheaper and easier it is to get power out of the FA20, I'm really looking forward to what the power numbers will be coming from the FA24
Doing your own installs saves a crap ton of money... I broke down and paid my Subaru dealership to install my SouthBend stg3 clutch, flywheel, upgraded clutch fork and valve cleaning for $1300 on my 2018wrx. Im Drunkmann Flex Tuned e60 401whp 358tq. I daily approx e50-e54
honestly, $12k for stage 3 mods is not a bad price. much lower than i thought. some cars need $50k for serious HP gain mods. WRX really is a boxer 4 cyl Japanese porsche. amazing car. keep it forever.
Thanks for this video I'm so glad I got a Q50 3.0T. Will always love the look of the subi but I can never buy one because of this reason. Your build is fantastic. I hope subi makes a stronger engine in the future.
Congrats - watching your videos in order. I'm shopping around for a 2021 STI at the moment. I also prefer reliability and fun daily driving over numbers. I like your point about having the turbo kick in sooner for daily driving (I have 2 kids, lots of driving around the city). My goal will eventually be 400 HP conservatively and reliably if that's even possible with an 2021. I'll have to do a lot of research and will enjoy the journey. I was disappointed when I found out that Lapis blue was no longer a color option for the 2021 STI - I may have to go magnetite grey. Keep up the great content - always great to watch.
Did you ever get yourself an STI? So hard to find a stock STI these days unless you're getting a brand new one and that's like looking for a needle in a hay stock nowadays.
@@gheewheez7624 Yes! Placed ordered in the summer of 2021 and picked it up the last week of September :) Currently have 4000 km on the odometer and loving the car in the winter now. It came directly from Japan and I think they stopped taking orders in September or Oct. It's winter time so didn't do anything crazy with mods and have fun plans for the spring.
Congratulations enjoy your new mods! My stage 3 2015 STi ended up blowing up and I got a civic si. But I couldn’t get away from the Subaru so I just got a 2021 STI and traded in the Civic! I’ll just have to make sure I don’t cut any corners if I do mod it
I'm a first time subaru owner, 2019 STI. Its still under warranty so I'm keeping it stock for now. My experience has been perfect for the past 10k km but that 350 or 400 hp number seems high. I hear a lot about people who blow the motors on these cars sometimes at stock or other times at a pretty tame stage. I baby my car for the first 20-30 minutes its running etc. etc. all the things you're supposed to do to treat the car as best as possible so can you really daily a STI pushing 300+ at the wheels? I put sometimes as much as 2000km on my car each month, and obviously not every moment of that time is spent ripping on it, lots of highway mileage but I definitely have my fun with it. I LOVE my STI but I can really tell its missing some guts just being stock, I've seen people get their minds blown from just an intake and a tune. I guess my question is if I'm a responsible driver who keeps up on their maintenance, lets their car warm up etc. how big of a risk am I running if I decide to get performance mods for my car?
Hello dear, I created that the improvements of your car even though you are not looking for 400 whp, which I would like to do with my Sti 2021-2022, your car has, in my opinion, the modifications of better aesthetic tastes and sober colors and maintain an elegant pattern. Congratulations
I know how you feel. All amped up on pride and excitement for the car you love. I’ve had my 2021 WRX for six weeks and have put a little over 2K miles on it. I have enjoyed every one of those miles. My goal is to keep the WRX mostly stock and prestine so it keeps max trade in value towards a 2024 or whatever year is the second one out from the introduction of the new STI platform. I don’t want the first year because of potential problems.
305 crank. To the wheels, you are looking at 260-270ish. So it's looking closer to 70-80 gains. Still expensive, no question, but it's a bit more than what people think.
I have almost exactly same mods, almost every single thing, only difference because of my milage I choose to replace the turbo with a Cobb 20g and my numbers were 379 whp mines a 2018
You could mimic this for like $10k but the likely hood of sending a cylinder to the moon increases by about 40-50% My 2019 FA20 is currently sitting @ 344WHP on Pump and 413WHP on E60 but I also upgraded my Turbo at 19PSI, Intake Manifold, Front Mount over Top Mount, Coilovers, Seay Bars, Radiator etc. Mine is such an amazing car and I love everything about it, but parts and labor total is around $21k 🥹
Nice video 👏 congrats 🎉 when someone asks “Hey how much you spent on your car that’s a lot of money for 20-30 hp” I get that from people a lot. 🙄But I agree with you is not about numbers is about reliability and having such a fun car to drive. I’m glad to see your car on videos.
Great video and congrats on going stage 3! Quick question for ya... if I decide to go this route and get Equal Length Headers instead of Unequal Length Headers, will the Cylinder 4 Cooling Mod still be necessary since it's Equal Length? Just curious =)
Right after you said the grand total, a chipmunk commercial came on and 2 chipmunks had a look of shock and awe on their face. It was great timing for that to happen
Was great to see mods and upgrades glad to hear your not chasing power to be honest here in the U.K we don’t much either, 300bhp and above when would you use it? Track maybe that is it. Whatever makes you happy too is the main thing.
Great modding path mindset. Those that usually say they made more power for less have gone through at least one motor rebuild/replacement and spent more than they could afford. Then bash Subaru for their own denials.
Congrats man! I'm looking at going Stage 3 on my 2019 STI next month and we have similar goals (reliability, not chasing a number). The only difference is I take my car to the track + I'm staying UEL. I'll make my final decision next week, just hoping it can be reliable for me with track abuse lol
@@clevelandbrown9154 I'm newer to owning a Subaru and I love the rumble + character of the engine. I know the benefits of going equal length, but I'm willing to roll the dice with UEL haha
Going through this right now bro, just dropped 21k on bolt ons with labor, quality parts but ouch 🤕 playing a game, it’s called how long till my sti gets repod 😂
Thats odd Cobbs intake system is 50 state legal and it comes with the sticker . I have it for my 2010 . Unless , somthing changed , I have already stage 2 + parts and saving for stage 3 parts with all added bolt on. Go on eBay they Shipp to California no matter what . Find private sellers. And just slapp on all bolt on parts yourself and go do a one time dyno . As for smog just go back to stock.
@@footballfan7894 I used subispeed and also subimods and when I go to check out on the intake they say they don’t ship to Cali baciase of the law.. I have a cousin in Florida I’m gonna use his address then he can send it to me lol..
@@midnightmilo6605 I used Cobbs official website. I got the stage 1 combo and the turbo inlet and the 20g turbo. Thats all carb legal . I tried to order the downpipe but they dont ship that. So I went through ebay because ebay dont give a shyyyyit lol. But I guess your way works too .
Not a bad price after having the subie for 4yrs + it is a lot of money but over time you can put money away in the meantime lol for a while and doing it in one shot not too bad in my opinion 👌🏾
Real nice. Congrats on stage 3. Pretty sure u can run the bigger cobb turbo on stock internals but I would build the motor next if u go for more power.
You can do a stage 2 maybe 3 with a pro tune SAFELY. Your injectors will be fine as long as your tuner does some accommodations to your ECU. One down side is you won’t see a lot of hp results. That being said don’t use OTS TUNES they’re 🚮
I really want the sti. I’m looking at Evos just for reliability reasons. There’s so many horror stories and it seems like if you caress the gas the wrong way or if you don’t tune the car to exact spect or any small thing happens it blows up.
I’ve got a bolt on 18 GT and I run E85, it’s night and day difference in feel and power but I have to fill up every 2-3 days and it’s not even my daily driver lol
Hey question man. I commented on your last video and love the car, really happy for you. My question is this: I have a 21 WRX (not STI). I have I guess Stage 1+? My mods are ETS intake (w/box), Grimspeed EBCS, IBR full TGV/EGR deletes, and an etune by a legit tuner. The car is absolutely perfect for me, I too am going for reliability over numbers, I think the TGV/EGR deletes really help contribute to a healthy engine. You said you can’t go J-Pipe without pushing injectors? Are my injections at their limit on Stage1+? Is Stage 2+ a waste? Considering a Jpipe and TMIC (Grimspeed). Thanks
You definitely don’t want to cheap out on your car if you are going to mod it and you definitely did not. I just finished a huge build on my 2018 sti that is capable of 700+ but tuned it way down to 500s! so happy i did everything right the first time. Great job man you definitely did a phenomenal job with this car and explained everything perfectly!
Thank you! And great mentality. That is the same route I would go as well. Knowing it’s way under its capabilities of what you built it for will only make the experience that much more enjoyable.
These are all very quality but also very expensive. I think on MAPs website you can get a Grimmspeed stage 3 package for $1800. That includes the TMIC, DP, intake and 3-port ebcs. I pieced a similar build, give or take a few pieces and I came to around $9000 for parts labor and tuning. It's very expensive, I came from an Evo X and for $10k I was able to do a custom EFR turbo kit and all the supporting bolt on mods plus a few suspension mods
Definitely takes some serious pennies to modify an STI properly. Lots of other platforms (such as evo’s) that can give you a much better bang for the buck. Although, this is the fun in it. I enjoyed my process and the route I went. The car drives beautifully and absolutely loving it. Not for everyone, but to me 110% worth it.
@@Autofreakgarage having an STI opened my eyes to that power isn't everything. I think my 2021 STI handles better stock for stock then my Evo X. So Im just looking for a quick spooling higher torque autocross build.
@@Autofreakgarage just saw the video again and was thinking, if you did do an external wastegate set up and bumped the boost to say 20psi, you probably could be closer to 360whp and probably 370-380wtq. I know Prime in North Jersey are huge fans of external wastegate set ups and they have proven with the better boost control they can eek out more power while maintaining the "reliability".
I didn’t want to go over the 350 mark as anything over in 2018 and below STI ej’s is a gamble. I could have gone flex as well but it’s not the direction I wanted. All my mods can easily support 400. The car is just tuned down to a safe spot.
Congratulations, bro! You did well. I want to go FLEX with fueling mods Just need to have cash and decide who's gonna do all the installation etc...curious...what was the power difference between your stage 1+ to this new setup?? Anyways, bro...congrats again. Your gonna love driving your car every. I do and only tuned Stage1+ myself for now.
This is exactly what i was looking for. I just took delivery of my '21 limited 3 weeks ago and have been looking for something like this ever since. I don't want a ton of power - just a bit more without being unreliable. Not going to pull the trigger on performance mods until the warranty is out, but until then what would you recommend? I've been looking at cat-back exhausts (invidia Q300 has been my pick so far) - i've had screaming straight piped V8's for the last 6 years. kind of done with the screaming cars. The other mod I've looked at is the subispeed limited hood with the heat extractors cut out of it. I love the carbon intake - that might be the first thing i buy with how badass it looks!
Congrats! Suspension and a simple catback will change the outlook on this car. It doesn’t need much to really turn it into a really fun backroad carver. Intake will require a tune, so you’ll want to stay away from that if you are worried about warranty. Plenty of cosmetic stuff out there that will keep you busy. Enjoy your ownership!
Scooby, question. what are you using for the side skirt trim piece? That looks good and very sleek. Could you let me know? Slowly piecing my 2020 STI together! Thanks!
Congrats going stage 3. I agree, I like to get reliable stuff even if it's little expensive. I have a 2020 sti, I'm planning to get stage 1+ install. What mods u recommend me to get to make it reliable.
@@Autofreakgarage ive been dynod on 2 separate mustangs with a 60hp difference the lower reading being the one calibrate by the guys who installed it the other unknown as to what correction they use
"If you want to get technical..." - The "Stage" verbiage is about the least technical way to describe car performance modifications. Thanks for the detail! Do you know where the injector duty cycle is on the factory injectors on Cold Air Intake + Downpipe?
Absolutely is and a well known fact it's more of a sales tactic to group certain mods together. However, it is what most of the Subaru world (and other brands) classify their power levels when modifying. I get it, people laugh at the term, but for 98% of the people out there, it's the easiest way to relate and make them understand what certain mods will do for the car power wise. The term has changed over the years in regards to what parts, but relvitely, it all is fairly similar. I never personally ran a downpipe and intake alone on this car, but I do know the stock injectors are usually 99% or completely maxed out at this point. Stock injectors are only around 300, so there isn't much room to increase that. On the VA chassis, it's wise to do all the supporting fuel mods if you want to move up. Not just for power, but to keep it safe and more reliable.
@@Autofreakgarage I totally agree! Before I left comp cams, we had just started using the stage nomenclature to sell some of our cam kits with newer lobe profiles. I like understanding everything that's going on, so the stage talk just frustrates me! But! It sells parts. The MAPerformance stuff is neat since they supply a tune with their cold air and downpipe. I have their cold air and tune currently, but I'd like to get their catted downpipe soon. However, their tunes are locked with a password. Ideally, you'd be able to use their off the shelf tune for the "Stage 2", add a fuel pump, regulator and injectors then adjust JUST the injector tables for "dwell time", "voltage offset" and of course "flow rate".. I don't think it would jeapordize anything.. you're just giving the fuel system some breathing room. I don't like duty cycles over 85%..
I do have a serious question for you about the way your setup turned out. I myself am heading down the something of the same path as you, parts you have, had been a big influence on what I wanted to do with my car styling wise. And I also appreciate you pointing me in the right direction as where to find some of them. (Still looking for the carbon mirrors replacement and the sequential lights that go on the rear views.) As far as engine goes I have my 2020 I bought back in late January (still haven't broken the 900 miles mark yet) and slowly getting the majority of my parts trickling in. Still waiting on VIS and some of the APR Carbon. Anyways the real question I have about your new stage 3+. Does it push you back into your seat. You know what I mean by almost a butterfly feeling in the stomach when you get on it, like a 2nd through/into 4th pull? I wanted to go with style and and "reinforcement" mods first. (AOS, Cyl4, Mishi rad, and IAG oil pan kit. Pickup windage tray and in-pan baffling.) Anyway I'm not aiming for a drag car, weekend track car more likely. It's not my daily but It's been a dream car since I traded my 04 STi in back in 06 to fully build an STI. I was riding street bikes to get my speed fix but I'll be 36 in about a month and a car just seems like it's alot more safer. I still want something that sits me back and gives that squirmy feeling when powering through the low gears. Sorry for the autobiography on me and my car plans. But I've followed your videos pretty close since I bought mine. And just wanted to let you know what you really helped take alot of guess work and wasted money out of my build sofar. ✌and keep up the great work. Happy and safe travels.
I appreciate the kind words and I am glad I was able to help! In regards to your questions, everyone is different. Power is subjective, just like exhaust sounds. One persons loud can be another persons quiet. My car puts you in your seat, but it's not going to take your breath away. Granted, I've been driving this car for 4+ years, so I know what to expect. If I had someone drive me and I sat in the passenger seat, it would feel very different. You have a 2020, so you have the updated motor. You can definitely push a bit more and get to that 400 mark no problem. That will definitely give you a good feeling when you are on it. But, driving my STI on stage 1+ for many years and then making the big jump to stage 3 is a nice bump in power. My only recommendation with these cars is not to expect a lot. It takes some serious coin to make these things fast, let alone reliable. It's an edge you have to titter on. Build the car the way you want to and do it safely. Let the numbers be what they are meant to be and don't try to break records. It's a fun ass car and with the bump it power, it just makes it even better.
@@Autofreakgarage I get what you're saying for sure. I've been around street racing since I was 16. And I've drove and been driven in many cars and trucks from 💩box Civic to built GTR. It's mostly torque and traction that really plants you in your seat for me. I'm just debating if I want to go stage 3 or just full build and be done (kinda). The gaps in power gains would be lovely to have the experience of, but would just cost more than what it's worth. I guess that's the best way I can put it.
Did you install the AOS yourself or did you take it somewhere to get it installed? If so how much did they charge you? I know that it’s going to vary from shop to shop but I’m just trying to get an idea.
I felt that "Oh God" before you revealed the grand total.

I'm running 24 PSI on my 2019 STI with flex fuel and love it. I'm sure I told you before, but it's amazing with E85.
I feel you bro "ouch!" ... its worth it, at least thats how you try to explain it to the warden. 🤣

it still sounds like its a really fun street car.

1050s are way too small for E85 you need at least 1300s.
@@thedon9670 I actually ended up using the 1050s and have 453 whp. I wish I could go back and use the 1300s and still have the flex fuel ability with my Cobb accessport but unfortunately they took that away for my model year on the Cobb flex kit.

Hi
Can u give name of the company?
im so happy for you. I can hear it in your voice, and i can see you smiling while explaining everything without showing your face.
I honestly thought it would be closer to $20K but congrats on Stage 3 Power. Looking forward to the ASMR /Hooning vids.
I like what you did to the car its dark and bold. Your kids can own it one day.
(costs about 15k€) had to send the engine to a engine builder specialist for that. then my local shop f‘ed up the engine install (failed to correcly bleed the water cooling system) and cooked my poor engine to death! the engine only had 51.000km on it. fortunately they completely paid for the new engine. dont know if you heard of them but now i have a stage 1 block from subiperformance :) should be pretty reliable with that. looking forward for the tune it will be receiving soon! had to break in the new engine obviously…
good luck with yours, may it run strong and long!
thank you for the explanation, I have a 17 STI, I plan to go cobb downpipe with a AWE exhaust for straight up stage II, no mods to the intake or intercooler. Good to know that a stage III will be the only way to bolt on the intake. I went with stage II turbo back exhaust because it would put me at a sweet spot for power without having to jump into fuel upgrades.
$12,000 to get to 330hp...now I get why people hate on STIs good lawd!
Im looking at the same mods for my 2018 sti...thanks for the video!
bro with down pipe, headers you can make 385 hp/400 tq safely with no fueling upgrades. I kinda feel like a lot of peeps are getn ripped off
You did it right all quality parts you also have one of the cleanest stis on TH-cam. Congratulations on it all coming together man!
And your saying to yourself it was worth the overtime at work 🤣🤣
RT Tuning is a great shop. Super helpful. Wish I was closer.
My stage 1+ 2018 STi is running 18-19 psi
I appreciate it! Thanks for the kind words 👍🏻
Beautiful build bro! Definitely pushing S209 power right there 😎🤙🏽
Brooo haha i felt that "oh god" haha when i added up everything i have ever spent on my car im looking at around 16k haha some bs haha but if you divide it by 4 years its not much haha.
It definitely is!
Check out my video on this topic th-cam.com/video/3kw5hqYGL5E/w-d-xo.html
Its ALWAYS better to stay safe and reliable over chasing numbers. Great decision!!
Lol almost started commenting that we need clips and the last minute you acknowledge it! Great video!!!
Haha I know people will comment it so had to mention it. I promise! It’s coming.
I would did the same, stock Sti already enough as it is, nice set up 👍🏻
With stis it’s either a healthy 500 hp, or a nightmare
Love your build, I got same with fmic and no cats. It’s my daily and I Uber with it😂💯
Wow nice. Thats not bad at all. Most people don't even get close to that with stock turbo. You should've done tgv delete also
Congrats bro, those are actually solid numbers! I bet it feels great! 👍🏼
The car comes with 305 HP, it got 30 more horse power for 13 grand, that’s crazy. The only thing that matters is that you enjoy it.
305 crank. To the wheels, you are looking at 260-270ish. So it's looking closer to 70-80 gains. Still expensive, no question, but it's a bit more than what people think.
I have almost exactly same mods, almost every single thing, only difference because of my milage I choose to replace the turbo with a Cobb 20g and my numbers were 379 whp mines a 2018
You said you didn't want to go crazy now but wait until 2022!
You could mimic this for like $10k but the likely hood of sending a cylinder to the moon increases by about 40-50%
My 2019 FA20 is currently sitting @ 344WHP on Pump and 413WHP on E60 but I also upgraded my Turbo at 19PSI, Intake Manifold, Front Mount over Top Mount, Coilovers, Seay Bars, Radiator etc.
Mine is such an amazing car and I love everything about it, but parts and labor total is around $21k 🥹
Congrats 🤘🏻 I’ll be joining you on the stage 3 sometime next year when my warranty expires.😎
Nice video 👏 congrats 🎉
when someone asks “Hey how much you spent on your car that’s a lot of money for 20-30 hp” I get that from people a lot. 🙄But I agree with you is not about numbers is about reliability and having such a fun car to drive. I’m glad to see your car on videos.
Remember most of it u could’ve done yourself and saved like 1500 or even more. Beautiful build.
Great video and congrats on going stage 3! Quick question for ya... if I decide to go this route and get Equal Length Headers instead of Unequal Length Headers, will the Cylinder 4 Cooling Mod still be necessary since it's Equal Length? Just curious =)
Thanks! I would still recommend the cylinder 4 mod either way. Peace of mind and it’s a very cheap reliability mod in the grand scheme of things.
@@Autofreakgarage Very true! Might as well, it is cheap.
Amazing transformation! Imagine if you went e85 flex, the power difference would be huge
Right after you said the grand total, a chipmunk commercial came on and 2 chipmunks had a look of shock and awe on their face. It was great timing for that to happen
Pretty much the same look I had on my face 😂
Great job was about to go stage 2 on mine think I’ll save a bit more and wait
Was great to see mods and upgrades glad to hear your not chasing power to be honest here in the U.K we don’t much either, 300bhp and above when would you use it? Track maybe that is it. Whatever makes you happy too is the main thing.
Great modding path mindset. Those that usually say they made more power for less have gone through at least one motor rebuild/replacement and spent more than they could afford. Then bash Subaru for their own denials.
If it makes you feel better, im about 20k alone into the motor, although to be fair, mine blew head-gasket immediately and I put a stage 2 block in.
I miss my STi. But it was nothing but issues. And guys know me, I do things the right way the first time. But those motors just don't handle power.
That's funny man, I went to R/T Tuning for my WRX. They did an excellent job in my opinion
R/T is where it's at! Couldn't recommend them enough.
I would definitely recommend going el if you are tracking, especially. Lots of heat build up and it’ll open a lot more doors for the car.
Not sure why you wouldn’t go equal
@@clevelandbrown9154 I'm newer to owning a Subaru and I love the rumble + character of the engine. I know the benefits of going equal length, but I'm willing to roll the dice with UEL haha
@@wadesloan ahhh I gotcha. If you’re in a state that doesn’t do emissions get yourself a catless dp. Best decision I ever made
EL means its no longer a Subie :(@@clevelandbrown9154
Going through this right now bro, just dropped 21k on bolt ons with labor, quality parts but ouch 🤕 playing a game, it’s called how long till my sti gets repod 😂
Love it.. I got 2019 STI and I live in Cali where I can’t even buy a Cobb red line intake in this state..sucks having all these dumb laws here
I feel so bad for all you guys. So sad to see them cracking down on it all.
I was waiting for this video all day😍
Have an RA block in my 2012 Sti hatch holding 431whp/399tq strong💪 360whp on pump 93
Holy hell at the price! I’m shocked! $1500 on an N54 is an easy, comfortable, 380whp
Yeah, STIs seem quite expensive to mod. Like BMWs N54/N55, you can get over 450hp on a Q50 3.0T for around $1500, as well.
Not a bad price after having the subie for 4yrs + it is a lot of money but over time you can put money away in the meantime lol for a while and doing it in one shot not too bad in my opinion 👌🏾
Real nice. Congrats on stage 3. Pretty sure u can run the bigger cobb turbo on stock internals but I would build the motor next if u go for more power.
yes, I have my eye on the 20G, but going to get comfortable with the current power and see what I want to do next.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Did I tell you I think your build is awesome?
Hoping I can resist modding my 21 STI. So tempting to mod.
You can do a stage 2 maybe 3 with a pro tune SAFELY. Your injectors will be fine as long as your tuner does some accommodations to your ECU. One down side is you won’t see a lot of hp results. That being said don’t use OTS TUNES they’re 🚮
That's actually not as bad (the total cost) as I had expected.
I really want the sti. I’m looking at Evos just for reliability reasons. There’s so many horror stories and it seems like if you caress the gas the wrong way or if you don’t tune the car to exact spect or any small thing happens it blows up.
Watch this video th-cam.com/video/3kw5hqYGL5E/w-d-xo.html
Go for it , more powa. Love the build man
Well that seals it for me, i m staying S1+. I will instead spend 60% of that amount and gain 300hp on my Boss
Can’t wait to hear her growl ❤️🙌
I’ve got a bolt on 18 GT and I run E85, it’s night and day difference in feel and power but I have to fill up every 2-3 days and it’s not even my daily driver lol
Really nice looking car man. Love how clean it all looks.
price wasnt bad honestly. i spent a lot more on the brz for less power
Thanks
I’m speaking directly about the ej motor. I am not knowledgeable on the fa motor, so I can’t comment on what is the best route for that car and motor.
So dope . Thanks for sharing the info. I will do some similar mods . You have inspired a random STi owner from Cali
I've heard the OTS stage 2 tune from MAPerformance with downpipe and intake is extremely reliable
Not many people realize this. It’s not all about power and numbers.
Awsome video👌 Thanks for the transparancy🔥
I didn’t understand what you said but that’s a fucking awesome car
Congratulations, bro! You did well. I want to go FLEX with fueling mods
Just need to have cash and decide who's gonna do all the installation etc...curious...what was the power difference between your stage 1+ to this new setup?? Anyways, bro...congrats again. Your gonna love driving your car every. I do and only tuned Stage1+ myself for now.
Thanks! I never get my car dyno’d on stage 1+ but Bren claimed it was around 300 or so with the mods I was running.
@@Autofreakgarage That's about what I tuned out. Seems right. I was at 302 / 320 on a Stage1+. Looking forward to your POVs next on the tune.
Thanks!
th-cam.com/video/wMBfWMr0B3g/w-d-xo.html
Congrats going stage 3. I agree, I like to get reliable stuff even if it's little expensive. I have a 2020 sti, I'm planning to get stage 1+ install. What mods u recommend me to get to make it reliable.
th-cam.com/video/lZt7Dk2mixQ/w-d-xo.html
thats a very generous dyno to show 340 whp at 18 psi on a stock turbo
It’s a mustang dyno. Aka heartbreaker.
@@Autofreakgarage ive been dynod on 2 separate mustangs with a 60hp difference the lower reading being the one calibrate by the guys who installed it the other unknown as to what correction they use
Congratulations 😊
(Still looking for the carbon mirrors replacement and the sequential lights that go on the rear views.)
As far as engine goes I have my 2020 I bought back in late January (still haven't broken the 900 miles mark yet) and slowly getting the majority of my parts trickling in.
Great vids/contents as well.
Did you install the AOS yourself or did you take it somewhere to get it installed? If so how much did they charge you? I know that it’s going to vary from shop to shop but I’m just trying to get an idea.
