This was very helpful, upon getting my carbon fiber hood I didn’t realize it needs to be treated regularly or it’ll faded and look bad after a few years. I unfortunately have mine exposed to the Connecticut elements bc I have to park outside, im going to follow what you did to hopefully protect my hood, it’s been on my Honda for less than a week
Great video! I got the seibon cw style hood used off a local buddy recently! Thankfully it came coated so I was able to get away without coating it! Love the vis hood definitely nicer than the seibon cw style with the bigger scoop and extra vent near the glass of the front window!
Not leaving my baby outside if I have any expensive cf parts on the outside lol I’d have anxiety trying to coat a cf part like this bc I’d probably accidentally leave swirl/scratches while leveling the coat
By the way the guy that Teflon my car put a towel type cover over the foam and replaced it multiple times depending on if he was using the cleaning compound or Teflon. The other guy that did my ceramic coat didn't use a machine at all. He basically using a small hand sponge to apply and then towel wipe after
I did Ceramic on my 22 Tucson last year and Teflon coat on a 17 Impala yesterday. Obviously the Tucson looks better since it's brand new paint but I was surprised how well the Teflon coat made the Impala look on 5 year old paint/clearcoat
Is that GYEON Quartz Q2M Prep you applied onto the hood after polishing? Around the 5:23 mark. I'm preparing to ceramic coat my car soon(ish) and I'm trying to get a hang of all the steps, following your complete wash and polishing series. Since I'm here, I've found your videos to be extremely informative and wanted to thank you for putting in the time and effort behind them!
Thanks man. I don’t do much highway driving in this car, so the rock chips are very minimal. It does happen, but it definitely helps keeping the chips obsolete. If I do drive on the highway, I don’t tailgate. I just use touch up when needed.
@@Autofreakgarage so jetseal isn’t the way to go anymore I have a new hood and fenders carbon fiber comin in and not sure to go with jet seal or ceramic coat it my self
Ppf overall protects paint from road debris. Ceramic protects paint from hard water, bird poop, etc. most people that do ppf put ceramic on top as well, which is what my car has. Personally, I like the look of just paint with ceramic, but I can see the appeal to ppf on a daily driver.
Why wouldn’t you just have self healing paint protection film on the front end and mirror backs ? ceramic coating is more for protection against the elements good to have and better than nothing but it sure won’t protect against rock chips or swirls like Ppf 🤷🏽♂️
I don’t like the look of any ppf film out there. I’m well aware of what ceramic coating is. I prefer the look of paint and just repaint whatever needs repainting when the time comes.
Same as stock. No weight reduction by doing this. The stock hood is aluminum and very light to begin with. I do know the shipping weight with all the boxes and packing materials was 45lbs.
This might be a good opportunity to do a wrap, you never know you might want to sell it down the line. 🤷🏻♂️ and painting it might make it worthless to the potential buyers 👍🏼

Amazing job with the carbon hood. Looks so clean now and pure. It will truly be sad to watch it get painted but I understand if you do it brother. 👌👍

Love that blue in combination with the carbon fiber.

Yes that is Gyeon prep. Glad I can help!
Might have to ceramic coat my wheels when I get em, never thought about it before Haha.
Woah... You'd think it couldn't be any nicer LOL. It's spotless 😎 How do you avoid small rock chips? Do you use PPF or touch-up paint?

Thoughts on jet seal?? Said to protect up to 12 months, I only use jet seal on my carbon fiber. Should I get more stuff?
I've used jet seal about 10 years ago. It's ok, but far better technology and products have come out since Jet Seal.
@@Autofreakgarage thank you!! Just bought this hood and I’m excited to get it. Looks good on blue!!

Hey could anyone be so kind to enlighten me as to what he means by "clear coat"? Do you mean epoxy or some kind of resin?
So if I get the carbon fiber clear coated am I good to go or do I have to worry about it fading
A proper clear on the carbon would protect it just like it does for normal paint on a car.
La mía no tiene ni un año seme esta haciendo como blanco por dentro como puedo hacer en ese caso mi amigo
How long did it take for your hood to come in? And where did you buy it from?
Modgarage. Took about 3-4 weeks.
What’s better ceramic coating or ppf auto body guys told me ppf is better what do you think I got a carbon fiber hood for my car

@@Autofreakgarage do you think their would be an issue if I do ppf first then ceramic coat like a few weeks later cause I’m gonna do ppf first
No sir. That’s the way I would do it as well. Let the ppf cure and dry prior to coating.
What is the little orange tool you're using? And do I use my Polisher to put on the ceramic coat?

Does the applicators and the black microfiber cloths that’s goes on top of the applicator if that what it is comes with the kit ?
Was your hood out of the box or was it clearcoated before ceramic coating it?
Out of the box then coated it. I am getting the hood painted over winter so no need to clear it now.
@@Autofreakgarage how's it holding up?
Looks as good as it did on day 1.

where do I buy the exo. I have spotting on mines after clear coating.
There is a link in the description for exo.
I have a carbon spoiler and it’s yellow now any way to fix it?
Has to get stripped and cleared. You can try to polish it out, but when it gets that way, the best way is to redo the clear.
