After test driving a wrx last saturday, I instantly fell in love and decided to join the subie family with a 2020 wrx limited. Thank you Joe for the inspiration!
Dude I have to admit. Watching your videos is what pushed me to move forward with purchasing my 2020 STI. Days leading up to delivery I watched your reviews on the car. More and more I got excited. But nothing could prepare me FOR what this beast looks like in person and how it drives. It’s a whole other animal. (I’m coming from a 2012 WRX) Super glad I went all in to get my dream car! Keep up the reviews man. Cheers
I just put the $5000 deposit for one and I’m first on the list to get on at one the Subaru dealerships in Florida! Can’t wait they say it will be here before Christmas!!!! S209 for the win!!!!
Raiti's videos are the most comprehensive you'll find. Non-condescending, passionate, informative and fair. Every RR video I watch makes me want to buy that car!
Great reviews, keep them up. Sweet s209. I’ve got a 2019 sti and for the price, I love what I got. But 65k it’s simply a collectors car, keep it, drive very little, store it. Blasphemy I know but less than 10k of safe not extreme mods and I’ve got the best rally/street car for the money. Cheers 🍻
I picked up a 2018 Limited STI recently and your channel was a huge help, I can't wait to see the 2021 as I might try and trade up for that already haha
Saw this car at the NYIAS in '19 and knew I had to have it (for all of the reasons Joe shared above). Drove it home this past Sunday. Spring cannot come fast enough
Looks awesome. As an owner of a 2016 Sti, I really struggle with the thought of paying twice as much for a very similar car. That said, I'm glad they actually produced such a car, it's an epic tribute to the last EJ257!
The cost is so high thanks to government process of getting this thing approved for sale here. Even then Subaru might just break even in the end on this car. You can thank our ridiculous process of getting a car approved for sale in the us for the high price tag.
Auto MoJoe Well be thankful that you don’t live in Australia...The price of cars here is ridiculous, due to Government charges...$60k for a regular STI
Oh I know it’s even worse in both of your respective countries which sucks. Just explaining why it’s so much more over the base sti here in the states.
One update -the Subaru WRX STI tc380 - a very limited run of 50, tuned to Japan rally driver Toshiko Arai's specs made 380 bhp! But it was produced by FujiSubaru! Used a lot of HKS parts.
Wow if I had 60 some odd grand laying around I’d buy one of these in a heartbeat! I think the nearly double cost is well worth the subtle tweaks and especially the exclusivity and specialness to own 1 of only 209 cars. And I’ve always loved when you get a special car that’s AWESOME only to car enthusiasts. Like to the average person they think “this is just another basic Subaru. Who cares...” but a petrol head; especially a Subaru fanboy flips tf out and goes “OMFG I can’t believe I’m looking at a fucking S209 in person!!!!” It’s a low key badass car yah know
You can tell, Joe’s entire time changes when he’s talking about a car that he’s seriously thinking about owning. It’s beautiful stuff. My take, Subaru special editions don’t feel special enough anymore to be worth their price increases, the value just isn’t there as a daily driver kinda guy. Subaru knows that their competition fade in and out with the seasons in the niche Performance Family Sedan market so you can see on many dealerships, WRX STi’s with ridiculous markups that are just unjustified. They know that only a special kind of buyer or sucker will look for this special kinda car and do anything to get you to pay more. How a used older Subaru costs more than the MSRP of a new one is mind boggling, that’s a brand wide zonk. However, you get yourself a fair price and you find an honest dealership, you may have yourself a winner Joe.

Update to my previous post here. Was getting my 2019 sti oil change at the dealer and guess what........ they had a s209 in world rally blue on the floor. Number 11 of 209 to be exact. Crazy beautiful car in person. Had to wipe off the drool when I left. 64k sticker and that’s what they wanted for it. Was I wanting to trade up? Ya, a bit I must say. Did I? No. Anyway crazy nice in person. Jealous of who gets one. Worth 64k...... still a collectors car imho. But yes worth it.

For a Subaru is high priced but Subaru is losing money on every one it sells. It cost tremendous amount of money to certify the car for the USA through the NHTSA since is considered from STI as another manufacturer. The car is enough different in front and other structure needs to pass it's own crash and safety testing. This is halo car to draw us all into the dealer but to sell us other cars. After all 209 cars and so many who would want one. Subaru should be commended doing this in any case. Thanks for sharing Joe!!
It's a gamble... financially. The next gen could be so much better that these are forgotten about and lose their value... OR, it won't and this is coveted as the must have STI and retains it's value. OR, you can get one and enjoy the heck out of it and not care about anything else. The price for exclusivity is steep with this one though.
I feel like Subaru’s purpose as to why they built this version, is because they needed their Subaru fanboys to stay with their brand. They know their EJ engine is old technology. They know the STI doesn’t really stand out anymore. So they made this “special version” to gain interest, when the reality is is that it’s still not that much power despite all the engine upgrades, and that anyone can make their non-special version STI just as fast and capable as this one with some slight modifications. What Subaru is doing here is beyond funny, especially when a C8 Vette is in store for just a little bit more money.
Joe's STI trade-in announcement in 5, 4, 3, 2.... I'd really like to pick up a [used] STI, but the ride quality for a daily scares the shit outta me. I've just started digging into what makes for a good suspension parts replacement to calm down the ride just enough to eat the bumps and retain street road cornering.
Love this car!!! Can you please do a comparison to your type RA...would like to know the details and how close they are in comparison...thanks for this video and keep up the great work 👍🏽
Love cars and love cars. I corrently own a 2017 STI and I loved it. My question is, "Dream Giveaway" the real deal or should I worry about buying tickets and supporting them. Sorry for the straight forward question.

Nice car. Watching your Subaru wrx sti I end up getting a wrx sti. I got the wrx sti almost 2 years ago Ahhh why I didn't wait for this. Well 2 years ago we didn't know S line was coming to US.
I'm looking to buy a Subaru...is it worth it to risk the ring gland failure and get the sti or better off adding power to the wrx to match the power out put of the STI
@@RaitisRides I think I've watched almost all your videos.👍 and I know there are many more wonderful features that are in the STI VS the WRX but My main concern is power as I spend more time running the quarter mile.
STi holds residual value 10k$ over wrx consistently since 05 which is the price margin @ nuevo!...use your common sense. Drive it hard in the power band and youll never have ring failure caused from lugging under 2.5rrmp +boost. These are heritage rally cars and are designed to be driven accordingly
@@ChupaLeche I couldn't care less about resale value. I don't build racecars with resale in mind. I'm more or less worried about the known issues with the EJ motors. So far I haven't heard anything other than weaker rods in the FA motors when making over 500wheel. The Ringglands appears to be fail from high heat and lean motor...not sure where you were going with the "use common sense" part of your comment. I don't know a great deal about these motor as all my race cars are domestic motors. Hence the reason I was asking Joe about what he's heard from all the guys he's been dealing with. Thanks for your responce. I'll take as a grain of salt.
@@jamnremoval869 clearly youre stuck on my first sentence... See past the narrow field of vision. You said subaru not race car. The point was the STi comes with 10k(new, respectively) in upgraded parts. This is wut i meant by common sense. But ill hold your hand an elaborate since theres no other tools for you to research a car that hasnt changed dna in 15years...upgraded clutch and flywheel; larger vented rotors; brembo caliper(6potF, 2potR); hd 6spd MT w/ revised spec RA 3rd gearing. LSD and center electronic variable diff; larger i/c and turbo; schmancier interior. And likely the most important consideration is that the FA engine(in wrx) was designed to reduce production cost and comply to epa standards present and future(but as an event of the redesign it also sits lower in the bay which nets a lower center of gravity)...while the ej motor had other motives
Good luck to everyone whobis currently trying to score one of these. I’m currently on 6 dealership lists. They originally said 15k over sticker but the last email I received is now up to $96,500 plus fees 😵. If I’m lucky enough to get that call I’ll have to pass at that price😢
If anyone still questions the price of this car after watching your in depth review, then I don’t think they’ll ever understand. Great review! I could watch these all day.
Double the price of my ‘17 limited STI. For that money i think the plastic flares and vents are tacky. Don’t care for that kind of wing on a street driven sedan. I would rather spend that money on an Audi S4. Ive had three STI’s over the years but I think $45K is the limit for any STI any more $ and you have other options to choose from

Oh wow! Thanks for that info Donnie!
I like your last sentence: I really want to bring to my garage!
16:00 “Turbo poo boost” anyway beautiful car and awesome review!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
It's nice, but I don't think worth it for that price.
I can totally understand where you are coming from.
It is worth it. Incredible fun on the road. Now I just need some snow!
Nice that they let you beat on the s209 before they sell it
One of the only ricers that I really like!
You are hilarious!
Joe or the car? 😜
@@wbwayne8887 LMAO!! You are freaking awesome !
So much subie content recently I love everything about it ❤️ 😍
I am so glad that i can do that for you!
Joe you truly love this car.
Yeah I guess you can say that! LOL
I'm looking to buy a Subaru...is it worth it to risk the ring gland failure and get the sti or better off adding power to the wrx to match the power out put of the STI
When you buy a STI there is more to . it than just the extra power. Watch this comparison I did:
th-cam.com/video/A_w025I84eA/w-d-xo.html
EJ motors can be cranked to 1000hp or more... a reliable 600hp is now par the course.
Great video Joe!! Keep the WRX and STI videos coming.
This guy made me excited to buy sti
Great car and video Joe, what's the brakes? Same as sti?
Good luck to everyone whobis currently trying to score one of these. I’m currently on 6 dealership lists. They originally said 15k over sticker but the last email I received is now up to $96,500 plus fees 😵. If I’m lucky enough to get that call I’ll have to pass at that price😢
If you live in Arizona or willing to buy from out of State there is a dealer selling on at MSRP.
Good luck.
@Raiti'srides Thanks for the heads up🤗. Do you have a Dealership name?
@@wbwayne8887 yes sir!
@@hapiwifeNmom9890 Gracie Subaru
"On the binders" I nearly spit out my coffee
What's wrong with that?
I wonder how much those fender flares cost? They'd look good on my 2020 STI.
I totally agree with you!
The seats in the s208 are so much cooler 😂😭
Hey Raiti you’re one of the few that gets it. Glad you get to drive cool cars :)
Car is nice but don't like the fender flares, don't like the configuration of the rear wing, the Type RA rear wing looks better.
Its the same!!!
If anyone still questions the price of this car after watching your in depth review, then I don’t think they’ll ever understand. Great review! I could watch these all day.
That really means so much!
Double the price of my ‘17 limited STI. For that money i think the plastic flares and vents are tacky. Don’t care for that kind of wing on a street driven sedan. I would rather spend that money on an Audi S4. Ive had three STI’s over the years but I think $45K is the limit for any STI any more $ and you have other options to choose from
That S209 is pretty badass
Looks like a gunship. Beautiful!
Very cool. Nice job Joe!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Subaru is pretty proud of it........ 65k................
Joe you're so lucky you've been in so many amazing Subarus. I'm dead jealous
