Hi Joe! The S-models are built at Kiryu Kogyo, a small factory north of the main Subaru factory, about 15 km (30 minutes on local roads!) away. STI buy them and take them off the regular production line, and ship them. They can only build 2 each day there, the same place that makes the other specials such as fire, police, and cycling sponsor cars. A lot of the 'S' kit is not even available on the STI performance catalogue. I know that as I tried to upgrade a regular STI to S208 specs, with the help of my local dealer, before winning the lottery here to be eligible to buy one. The water spray cooling on the turbo-intercooler was also fitted on the S208 and S207, a 3.8 litre tank in the trunk, but it only last 5-6 minutes if used continuously. Although many think that it is just a matter of some bolt-ons to get an extra 30-35 horsepower, there are lots of suspension and body modifications in it, and it's a perfectly balanced package - that's what you get with an S-model. And don't forget, you can fit 24 hot dogs on the rear spoiler, not sure how many twinkies or egg rolls!
Got to love not only the knowledge of Joe but how he enjoys every car he drives. So down to earth and real. Just look at that smile and grin as he drives.

What a lovely well put together car. Seeing the Sti is $42K, with the body improvements and the 6 pot brakes and upgraded suspension, the HKS Turo and inter-cooler improvements, they all add up to over 20K. So I'd say it's well worth the 64K. Not to mention that this car will tune to 600 to match that handling and brakes.

@@RaitisRides I owned a 2015 STI. Fantastic car, BUT it never looked the part from factory. If you look at older generations, they looked aggressive, mean. The 2015 WRX looks exactly the same, but without a wing. The STI should've had the widebody flares, the wider wheels, the Alcantara steering wheel, from the beginning. Look at Honda. The Civic SI looks nothing like the Type R. You won't mistake the two. Put a wing on a WRX (as they all did as soon as they bought one) and unless you looked at the calipers, you couldn't tell the difference. This S209 is Subaru's Type R. But this should've been the STI at least in looks department, all along.

Hey Joe, I think some Car Enthusiasts fail to realize that those Forged Wheels are one of the Big reasons for the Price Spike. Forged wheels are mad expensive
This isn’t the first STi to have forged wheels. The cost mainly comes from the exterior changes, reworked engine with the larger turbo, and suspension. These are the same wheels as the series white STi, just different color, and that car costs $43K
I like Subies and think they are one of the few real car enthusiasts platform left but for 63k you can get way better and I mean way better options that are way faster and somehow get better gas mileage too. I still like it though 🤣!

Thanks Curtis for sharing that input!
a corvette c8 was priced less than that when they introduced it now of course it costs more but base price was 60k lol with more HP and good sounds plus new tech too ,i love subarus by the way but they should just make the stock sound better
Now thats the right tunning. Coudnt be better with forms and colours. I love the red and love the gold. Its just a little bit too much, but just a little.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
Keep up the good job, Joe!
You live somewhere with corners? Buy it. Otherwise don’t. It’s a drivers car that needs drivers roads.
Oh, really? Subaru fanboys always think their cars are super fast in a straight. This car is overpriced.
ImtheONE other cars are much faster in a straight line (stock).
Can you do a video on the GMC Canyon AT4? Thanks
Will do my friend!
@@RaitisRides thank you.
Would love to see those limited vehicles. It’s always a special thing to see.
The red stripes on the rear bumper should be put on the diffuser though. Looks better imo
That is a good call!
Oh, man! A blue one with the gold Subaru logo on the side, just like Petter Solberg!
Awesome review!
I am so glad that you like this one. I appreciate you tuning in!
This car is too overpriced. You can buy a 3bg gen viper, a used m4/m3 with good miles. And a plethora of other cars that are better than that.
This is what every STI since 2015 should've looked like at the $36k starting price instead of the Camry with a wing look.
Thanks for sharing that input and perspective!
The overfenders just made it that much nicer
Idol...you always make me laugh at the same time learn from you about cars.. from.dubai here
That is so wonderful! Thank you for letting share my passion with you!
I like that the video is 20:19. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Anyway love the video as always!
Edit: 13:00 gotta zonk those fake paddle shifters. Not a fan
Edit 2: I think I’ll take the black C7 Z06 over this, save quite a bit of $$$ too
I didn't even notice that! The paddles are not fake. They squirt water onto the intercooler!
Raiti's Rides I know! It’s a cool function just weird placement. Definitely an interesting “quirk”
Sexxxy Car no doubt and it's a performer only thing is that boxer engine but that's not an issue when you're having fun
This is so very true!
1. I want to see your own sti ra.
2. How does it compare to your RA?
4 banger boxer rumble FTW!
Heck yeah!
subbed, good video Raiti.
Thanks for saying that!
Hope you're doing well joe! We all love you and your content 👍🏻❤
I am going good my friend! Thanks for the support and I hope you are doing well.
Joe if you want to buy one , where ? In the dealer or another place
Type R or Subaru Sti... I’m having a hard time decide and tell me why you would go for one over the other
uhhh the type r is ugly as sin for starters. idc if its faster than a fighter jet. not picking that lol
It’s made for hardcore subaru fans the kind that grew up with the brand and respect the way it was setup from factory and don’t really modify them
need to see one in world rally blue! with the gold wheels of course
Gotta love that 'unzonk' at 2:37.
good job man 😘😘👍👍👍👍👍
I appreciate that Max!
Great test drive.
Aaron C. Tbh I had no idea it had a larger Turbo and better Suspension. Thank you for updating me on that
Besides 22B, this is my next dream car
I know how you feel Kenny!
I like Subies and think they are one of the few real car enthusiasts platform left but for 63k you can get way better and I mean way better options that are way faster and somehow get better gas mileage too. I still like it though 🤣!
