    Thanks for the great video. All five tips are brand new to me. The way I use Google Keep is for documenting student learning. I have made a folder for each student. The way it works is first I take a picture of the students work. Next I open Google Keep on my iPad. I click the note. Then I click the + at the bottom of the note and add the picture. I put a # with the students name and it automatically goes to the students folder. The best feature is that you can hash tag as many students as you want for a single photo. Then in the notes section I make my comments or feedback or marks. This has definitely lightened the load of papers that I bring home from school to mark.

    More great tips, Scott. I like to mark all of my notes as archived so that only new notes created show up in the "Notes" section of Keep. Any note I want to be "Active" I apply a reminder, (but still archive it). On the web I work from the Reminders section. On Android, I use the widget with the Reminders showing - reminder notes sort by due date. Most of my notes are setup with repeating reminders so they cycle back thru the sort order and when I'm completely done with the entire note, i delete the reminder. I treat the Notes section similar to an Inbox. This is where new notes start, and I regularly process, label, applying reminders if necessary, then archiving (or delete). Some examples are note lists for work projects, home projects, events, travel, workouts, etc. I choose to color my notes and add pictures based on the note only, there is no ryhme or reason for how I color them. Keep up the tips and videos, I enjoy them.

    I love adding Labels, so that I can access those notes within a particular subject. For example, I have a kid in her 2nd year of college and one in her senior year of high school. I have a label called "College Money" for all of their FAFSA, Scholarship window opening and deadlines. I may place a list for each kid to check off as they go along for things that they need to handle, such as getting their letters of rec and community service hours inputted into their transcripts, and so on.

    Few things. I use it as 'pocket' type thing to where I'll share articles for later. Also, ill use it to share screenshots to keep, then use the handwriting feature to do whatever I'm doing the screenshot. So this is 2 ways you can save yourself from downloading other apps and do them right in keep. And thanks for the video sir.

      Hi Scott, I have tried the voice recorder in Google Keep (on my mobile) and saw that the recording stops 3 seconds after a sentence was stopped (when you wait al little bit to continue with a following sentence).
      You can add a second recording in the same note (by hitting the + icon) but there is no way to have 1 recording of a full conversation with interruptions. Unless you have a solution.
      My solution is to record a full conversation with a recording-app and then share it into Evernote.
      But then I don't have the text in my note.
      It is possible to send a voice recording into Trello, Google Drive, OneNote, Dropbox.... but not into Google Keep (it seems). Unless I first store it on my computer and then add it to a note in Google Keep. That's a pity.

    • @Simpletivity
      @Simpletivity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your user feedback, Christian. This is very helpful for those who are considering the pros and cons of using this app. As for the narration stoppage, I don't have a good workaround at this time.

    Great video. I use Keep for my shopping list also. I usually shop the same two stores every week. The location reminder is great but has one drawback. You can only specify one place. So, in my case, to be reminded at both stores I would need a separate list for each store.

    Hi Scott!!
    I have actually discovered you today... and I really love your videos, not only for the organization tips and tricks (that's was what I was looking for), but for something even better!! Are you a teacher or something??? I mean, your pronounciation is SOOO clear!!! I'm always getting frustrated at movies, series and even radio announcers or tv journalists... because even as I attended at an English school, I'm never able to understand the whole thing!!! And the best thing is that you talk about topics I'm interested in.
    Never stop being so clear and I chanllenge you to teach us (all Spanish speakers) new vocabulary, even like street or modern slang!! XD By the way, do you have any video comparing or explaining how to use together Google Keep & Google Tasks? I could'n find one! Best regards!!!!! :-)

      That's a great question, Joe. You may want to download the 'App Downloads' option from within Photos so that you can access your Google images directly from your computer. I'll admit, it does seem silly that you can't do this directly from Keep.

    Currently, my 12 employees send me their pay sheets for payroll as an attachment in an email. Would it be better for them to use a shared drive? Should I create a separate shared drive for each staff with the template of the pay sheet for them to fill out each pay? Would they just make a copy and fill out in their shared drive. Attempting to streamline our system. Thank you for all of your tips and tricks. I enjoy your videos! So helpful!

    Location based reminders are fine...WHEN they actually work. I'm on Android Nougat and I always get my reminder LOOOONG after I've drive by the location I entered. Sometimes as long as 30 MINUTES after. So for me it hasn't been helpful. Probably just my crappy phone.
    OTOH, I love everything else about Keep and it's now my ONLY notes app. Deleted Evernote (never could be efficient with it). OneNote was my go-to 6before I found Keep. Liked it, but again...more complex than I need. OneNote is now also gone.
    Didn't know about the voice stuff. Gonna definitely be using that!

    Nice nifty all-in-one tool that keeps being improved. There are a few things I dislike about Keep. One - the voice recorder / memo / transcriber stops the record too fast - it cuts me in the middle of my sentence if I am speaking too slow. I am wondering if there is a way to fix that.

    • @Simpletivity
      @Simpletivity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I've noticed that Keep can sometimes be too quick to stop a recording during a brief pause. I'm not sure if there is away around that at the moment. But thanks for sharing!

    • @VitaliKononov
      @VitaliKononov 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've noticed that Google is often pretty lazy about continuing to improve their products. Too big of a monster to keep track of all our nitpicking requests :) ... perhaps the goal of putting all of our data in their database is more important than a single customer satisfaction :)

    I am new hear and I would like to know if Goigle Keeper should best be used as a note taker or a to-do list, I mean, it would be a good replacement for Evernote or Todoist for example, taking into account someone like me who, as retired, do not have much stuff to take care about.

    • @Simpletivity
      @Simpletivity  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question, Sergio. Google Keep was designed to be a note-taking app first and foremost. But having said that, I know many people who use it as a to-do list just like many use Evernote as their to-do list. And of course, you can always use Keep for both purposes. Like in the video example, you may want to use a checklist note for your to-do's and then have thre rest of your notes seperated. I hope that helps!

    There is a way to add a MP3 and transcript this audio for listening and read at same time?

      Yes, when recording an audio file to Keep, you can transcribe it into text right away.

    I left Google keep for OneNote, before that I used evernote. I find OneNote very powerful and does a lot that Google keep also does. My big problem with OneNote is that it is such a large app it takes up way to much storage on my mobile device. Now I don't have a tool to quick add notes. I removed Onenote on my mobile device. I think I will install Google keep based on your review. Do you have a tip how to integrate Google Keep with OneNote?

    • @Simpletivity
      @Simpletivity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your journey, Gertjan. Unfortunately, there is not a great way to transition between apps. You may have to resort to copying and pasting as a part of the process.

      I had the same problem w OneNote once inmy phone and I solved it by closing all the notebooks that I was not using. It reduced tremendously the amount of space. I think thay I left only the Quick Notes section open and if I needed to see or use other notebooks I used the Online version. You can send notes from G Keep w the app Send to One Note or by clicking the share/send to/move to icon and then clicking One Note, which will ask you in wht section to save it

    I am always keeping proof of purchase of items like tv, phone etc etc. Because all shops are tricky , if we keep their silky receipts in a drawer for more than 28 days, it may fade. That's why them are purposely doing like that. I am always taking a picture of all important receipts and keep it in Google Keep.

    I have 1000s of notes. Is there any way to do complex searches with frequency of finds where notes with the most matches come up first? I have trouble finding things.

  • @irmanonima

    I am very bad with papers, like if someone gives me a business card or wants to share with me a recipe, for example, I know it would be lost in a stack of papers or somewhere else out of sight (... and out of mind...), Also, I prefer to save paper in favor of trees, environment, ecology, etc. So... what I do is to take a picture of that paper, and immediately click share/open in/send or copy to G Keep. When it opens, my pic is therer attached. I only add a title and brief note and pin it to work in that note later (add to contacts, or save in OneNote, label it and add category color IF I will leave it there for quick access, Also, if I’m in a store, for example and I see a product to compare or look up later, I do the same of taking a picture to save there with title, pin and note + reminder. When you delete a picture from your gallery or folder, it stays in G Keep. I have also taken quick notes there to review later. In summary, I am realizing now that I am using G Keep as a drop box to manage later all what I add there either to keep there sorted for quick reference, or to work with them to take actions (research, move, share, colaborate in G Maps, etc).

    • @Simpletivity

      Hi Rose, I'd suggest two things to look at: 1) Check Archive to see if they may have ended up there. 2) Access Keep on another device to see if there may have been a sync/refresh issue. I hope that helps!

  • @hg2.
    @hg2. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    G-Keep keeps getting hung up, like it has to stop to load all the notes or just re-page (lot of TH-cam links); move most Notes to Archive, still hangs up to the point of being unusable.
    Works ok on Windows machines and cell phones, but Chromebook is almost unusable, it hangs up so badly.
