@ Teacher's Tech, Thanks for the Google Drive tips and I have a question but a little history first. I am preparing us for transition to retirement [is that tautology???] and have read many decluttering books and blogs, including, just recently, The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning in which the author states starting to downsize, I prefer to say rightsize, in our sixties. I have uncluttered many of our possessions and papers and now I am onto digital, photos and sentimental. I have decided to transfer what I choose to keep to Google drive so I can access it when we travel. I currently have pre-internet physical photo albums, pre-Mac photos on Picassa and with a crashed external hard drive backup for my photos...it's a mess in there and I hope 'they' can recover my photos at least but I will just call it an involuntary declutter, grieve and move on if they can't...I now have Mac iPhotos/Photos for my most recent photos, and iTunes for my music. My question...I am currently using 2 of my free 15GB. I know I know how long is a piece of string but I still ask, will 15 GB be enough online storage for an aspirational minimalist wishing to live a simple life. *I am Australian and I say 'zed' too... *And peanut paste not peanut butter even though the manufacturers have changed/keep changing our labels...biscuits = cookies...nappies = diapers...ute = truck or 4X4...thongs = flip flops...entree = starters or appetisers...mains = entree...and so on and so forth... Keep up the good work...and thanks again.
US$20 per year will get you 100 GB of storage space. That should be more than enough to store your photographs. (or US$100/year for 1 TB of space) But I wouldn't do the upgrade until you are close to your limit.
I was trying hard to figure out how to copy text from a long image file and this solved my problem. NO other app comes anywhere near this in terms of accuracy and works for a really long file too! Thanks again.
I'm an ESL teacher in Canada and thanks for the reference to "zed". But, I also want to thank you for these tips. At the beginning, I also paused the video to check out the PDF conversion tips. It worked. I have had Google Drive for a while, I just haven't utilized it to its potential. Thanks for your help.
Some of those tips were new to me, so thanks! Regarding the tip on export to PDF, if I haven't misunderstood, it can also be done by opening the document and from File > Download As, you can select PDF.
The "link" PDF method he shows allows the recipient to continually see the latest revision of your file, without having to Download > Send > Receive > Download > Save it manually. Turns a laborious process into a simple "Refresh"!
Another way: You can also add documents to multiple folder by Drag icon (first) while draging press Ctrl. A plus sign will appear and you can drop it in the folder, the doc/folder will now be in two places
Excellent, thank you very much for your clear lessons. It'll be helpful if you can slow down a bit but I understand the time constraint. Not a problem anyway as I just pause and playback.
I was super excited about the OCR, but when I tried to click on “open with” it only had one option (which was google drive) and it opened as a PDF again! Do u have any tips to help with that?
I love your tutorials. You have a gift to make them simple and clear. I would love to see what you can do to explain the basics of a Facebook account. Especially how to make it as PRIVATE as possible. How to have full control of your content, notifications etc. THANK YOU.
Thanks for this teaching video. I honestly never knew about all that you have shown . I am new to all the drive tech.. or computers all together.. I have been using android phones...I will now be using a micro soft windows 10 Lap Top Computer along with my phone..I will, in the future, be Starting a Non-Profit, this will come in handy.. your explanation is in a way my mind could understand .. two thumbs up :
Might be worth adding that if you want to undo a Shift-Z folder link, you do this by selecting the folder, looking in the Details column on the Right & clicking the X of the link you want to remove
Thanks a lot teacher , these tricks helped me a lot in my work i’m looking froward to learn more and every thing is simple with your way of teaching . Fan from Morocco
Hi good day As a humble request please can you make a video or a series of videos on how to use Windows specifically Windows 10 I'm a new user and confused🙄. Thank you
Great information! Thank you! I am just now learning my google drive and have a few things I can't seem to figure out. 1. Is there an easy way to copy files from the desktop? 2. When working in my email (gmail), how do I send a live link that would be view only as attachment? or 3. Do I need to send that email through google drive? (Using the tips in this tutorial)
you can mount you google drive under colab .. and access it as a normal unix drive also with colab you have extra temp storage with colab you can use python also to access the drive So look at google colab if you want to use the drive for programming also handy if you want to scrap some webpages or pull big data from the internet The colab machine are very fast and have a good internet connection so ideal for pulling data and then transfor it in smaller data base size ..
Thanks so much for sharing this GREAT tips. I will definitely follow you and try to find past posts. As a GAFE school, I am always looking for things to share with my teachers.
I love your tech tips. You are always clear in what you do (though the pause is useful sometimes). I'm from a 'zed' country too - Australia! I on the other hand would have known what you were talking about if you had said 'zee'.
I really appreciated the Shift Z tip! Excellent for sharing files to team drives etc! Can you give me some advice for making sensitive files secure in your personal Drive. I work in a G Suite enterprise and people within my enterprise can search for and find files within the enterprise. Is there a way to place all sensitive files in the one location and restrict their ability to be found and seen?
Hi there! Thanks for your video, I came across it by chance but it was just fantastic. Well done, I am going to check the rest of our videos, your channel sounds great. I was thinking about using, google sheets, google forms and google sites, .. let’s see if you have videos on that. Thanks
Again thank you for those great tips. I have a link to a file that I share on the internet. And when the user clicks that link they can view the file on my Google Drive. Which is what I want the user to do. What I do not want the user to see is the folder name. is it possible to hide a folder name while making a file in that folder public to the Web?
Hi! Thank you for your video! How can I share a spread sheet with a lot of people without seeing each others data inputs and not alowing local downloads?
Many thanks that was great. I write Beauty School Books as training manuals. How do I copy from my computer to drive as a book that they cannot copy the text and change the text? eg read only file.
How do you have you talking layered on top of the visual? I'm new to all this stuff and don't know the names for everything. I need to learn how to do this. This is wonderful!!!!!
loved the PDF link- it would be great to have access to the doc screen so we could make the copy past of the end... loved the expiry date of the folders. also I think the scan feature may eliminate an app I have (scan bot ) for that very feature... still looking for a good faxing program... email still has not made it everywhere.
For one tip I say the word "zed" that's my Canadian for "z":)
That's the proper pronunciation.

I was trying hard to figure out how to copy text from a long image file and this solved my problem. NO other app comes anywhere near this in terms of accuracy and works for a really long file too!

Google lens is much easier
First tip and I had to pause video to try it! It worked! I spent the next hour editing a pdf file I had wished that I could edit.
That's awesome Gina!

You're welcome! I'm glad the PDF tip could help you out.
I like how the video started with the super tips, and ends with some of the more-known tips. Thank you!
Thank you! These were excellent tips. Very useful to learn about features I didn't even know Google Drive had.
Some of those tips were new to me, so thanks! Regarding the tip on export to PDF, if I haven't misunderstood, it can also be done by opening the document and from File > Download As, you can select PDF.
That's correct!

Must be using Tesseract OCR. Thanks for pointing out this feature! I had no idea. Already used it since watching this video!
Thank you soooo much. I'm learning to endure my successful journey by the generousity of unselfish persons such as you. Great info.
Thank you! I now know how to scan a pic into a pdf and that will help me while teaching from home during COVID.
Excellent, thank you very much for your clear lessons. It'll be helpful if you can slow down a bit but I understand the time constraint. Not a problem anyway as I just pause and playback.
For scanning for pdf make sure you keep the borders in the photo. I will look for them. I usually use a contrasting background.
I'm a little reluctant to move from SharePoint to Google Drive, but this video is very persuasive - I didn't realise you could do half this stuff.
Drive has OCR? My mind is blown! Thanks 🙏🏻
google docs has, not drive
Tell me about it!!!!! I had no idea!
Wow - really helpful
I was super excited about the OCR, but when I tried to click on “open with” it only had one option (which was google drive) and it opened as a PDF again! Do u have any tips to help with that?
Very helpful! Somebody asked, but didn’t see an answer, how are you sharing screen, particularly the phone?
I love your tutorials. You have a gift to make them simple and clear. I would love to see what you can do to explain the basics of a Facebook account. Especially how to make it as PRIVATE as possible. How to have full control of your content, notifications etc. THANK YOU.
Thank you, I will add that idea to my list of videos.
There is no music in the background to distract. He may speak fast, but I can go back and replay. He is articulate and well spoken.

Wow. Only through the first tip and my mind is already blown!
This is totally not the Google drive organisation video I was looking for but I'm so glad I watched it anyway!
