- Ever since the new Guild Wars 2 Secrets of the Obscure expansion launched, Globs of Ectoplasm prices have been rising. During the first patch from 15 to 25 silver, and now we're nearing 30 silver per ecto.
If you generally buy these from the Trading Post, this is bad news. But if you like playing different sorts of content or specifically farming for your gold, this is an amazing opportunity.
META events still remain a good source for ectos, mainly through the Unidentified Gear that will drop. As long as you process these drops correctly and salvage them with the appropriate kits.
But if you don't like being bound to a schedule, following a commander, or don't like the waiting that is usually involved with doing these events, then you can choose to farm Unidentified Gear, and thus Globs of Ectoplasm solo!
I'll go over the most profitable and repeatable event that you'll want to do every hour, as well as the other Living World Season 3, 4, and Icebrood Saga maps that will help you acquire stacks of Unidentified Gear.

The best farm for the quickest, consistent rares is HoT HPs. The loot comes in boxes of varying rarities which drop multiple unidentifieds each. Each one can give you its rarity and higher. You just need to learn to solo them if you don't want to rely on others. Also the map currencies and exp makes it even better.
Griffon recovers endurance faster than Springer on the ground and has the advantage of mounting before you are on the ground to make it even faster.
Bitterfrost is the best, you can do all the chest on every toon you have between the meta. I usually loot the chests 2-3 times per meta pretty easily.
From what I remember the JP at draconis mons always gives a piece of rare gear (along with other stuff) so you can park alts there (iirc its once a day per character, correct me if I'm wrong because I didn't bother parking more than 1 char).
As for octovine if you're lazy (like me) you don't even need to do the meta, just find a taxi about 5-10mins after it starts (sometimes you'll land in a cleared map without needing one) and you can loot all the chests without doing the meta, although I usually only bother with the grand ones.

In hindsight that was indeed a very great move! You're either set for a lot of the achievements, or to make a nice amount of gold, depending on what your priority will be :)
Auric Basin, Dragonfall and Drizzlewood Coast are among my favorites to grind out for goodies, though up to a point I was opening them to try to get another Legendary Precursor to sell when selling the goods outright profits you greatly (if you aren't starved for Ecto).
And don't forget that every holiday season that has holiday-specific Unidentified, you can make a LOT of money during those. Each stack can sell between 8-10g average, which isn't bad to make some money on the side (and especially if you have everything you want from that particular holiday). Gold Find and Luck are hoaxes if you're trying to depend on those to find more money; don't sink much into those, though if you want a place to put your extra luck, I always vouch for consuming them passively or storing them to turn them into higher-grade Essence of Luck in time for the Weekly Vendors at holidays.
Totally agree on GF and MF. You could have 0% Magic Find and still get back to back precursors and then not get any at maxed MF. It's an increase in chance, I stacked mine up passively and next year is actually the first year I'll be cashing in luck for enveloppes (maxed it out earlier this year).

I like farming bitterfrost. It gives me an opportunity to use the Bitterfrost Vantage Point to get there I got from a BLC at the time. Nice views. It should be on the black lion statuettes.

Short version is they're like wvw/pvp reward tracks on pve maps. There's an invisible bar that fills up as you do events on that particular map and when you hit a threshold you get the item that's in the track. Each map has its own "reward track" and they change every weekly reset. Longer version you can wait for phandrel to do one.
First TY, very cool. I returned to the Silver Wastes, my favorite zone, for the first time in Two Weeks today. Just One Run, and I got there just before the Breach. 27 Rares, 11 Ecto from those, 3.18Gold. After Salvaging Greens, 6.22 Gold. Not Super Human but well worth my time. Besides I just love that meta, great action. And I did my Salvaging at Divinity. So if I had not taken a break between the Meta and the Salvaging, Probably would have gotten more, but real life will intervene. Anyhow a Good Days work.

If u dont have roller beetle u can use choya tonic + swiftness or axe
As long as you participate in octane, you will always get every single chest to loot
If your consistent you can get on lfg and look for parties doing meta events and often there will be parties at the end of a meta and you can jump in for few min and get the end rewards. Also I have been enjoying drizzlewood coasts the events give plenty of rewards and the meta is run over and over all day long and the end after you beat jormug is what like 20 chests maybe more? Sometimes you might not get much unidentified gear on that one but you get a lot of ascended material or high tier material that sells well or used to craft
True! I also noticed a healthy amount of activity during Dizzlewood lately, I rarely join a full fresh map.

The infusion is a 1 in 10,000 drop. Its a drop rate Anet is very fond of. Doing Khar Ur daily you'll soon hit sunk cost where you've spent more on keys than the value of the infusion. And if GW2 does their drops like Blizzard's WoW where they only let a certain amount of loot drop because of the economy, Anet may only allow a certain amount of infusions drop per day, week, month etc. You may very well be lucky enough to win that 1 in 10,000 chance but receive no infusion as the loot table has already been emptied by other players and won't be refreshed till the next reset. I've been playing since launch, have put in a depressing amount of hours in all forms of content, I know its RNG but I've have never seen a high value infusion or transfusion potion drop.
100% best farm. I farm HoT hero challenges for the unidentified gear. You make more with more accounts + its easier 😆
Great for loots and for the exp and map currencies for easy exotic gear and collections.

Always identify the gear first as there is a chance you get higher gear :)
As Drei mentioned, always identify first. You have a chance to get a higher tier, which in this case means more chances for ectos.

What do you mean at 1:25 by "not all chest are lootable a scond time"? If i reach 100+% participation I can open all (sans heros choice). I am usually not the most attendtive so I might have misundertood.

I noticed that some grand chests don't always reset when Ioot the chambers on a second event. But it's not 100% consistent, so I'm not sure if it's map IP bound or something else.

Doing it 7 days thursday to thursday during AB bauble week for one or two cycles ... 1 cycle being about 2 hours... should not be that burning... but it ups your profit with baubles...
Then doing the open salvage craft sell and mystic forge routine ups profit again.. + possible precursor from opening and mystic forge gives another ... possible ... up on the profit

Oh yeah, if you manage to forge consistently, you get a decent amount of precursors.
And another two little additions ...

With all the ectos you can get ... ofc depending on how crazy you do that unid farm...
You may wanna take a looksie at the ecto version of the mystic forge stone...
25ectos per stone might be too much for the "every so often" farmer ... but if you allready "gamble" for precursors in the forge... you might be interested in gambling for a mystic Infusion too...
I myself do that sometimes... so far no luck ... but the Chance for infu is lower then for precursors... so i am still hopefull...

Take a look at the Black lion salvage kit... sometimes you can make more profit extracting the rune/sigil off of those exotic items you get wit the open salvage routine and those you might get along the way by just playing the game...

Yeah you unlock it as part of the 'Culinary Training' achievement, you can start it by having 400 cooking and talking to someone in your home instance I think
Indeed! At 400, you'll get a mail and will be to talk to Seimur in your home instance.
A little motivation on the achievement and working on your home is the fact that full home loot is a nice profit or addition of mats and the "gourmet" achievement gives you cooking crafting Station with Bank access for you and your home loot guests (guests can craft at your home cooking station when they have done the achievement)
I'll have to test to confirm, but I think Griffon regen is even faster than Springer.

Only on the ground, but not in the air. However, you can mount griffon midair before having to wait to get on the ground so even better advantage.

Yep, although it's much more visible when I stand further away. It shoots glowing purple/pink and light blue projectiles.
Better to salvage stacks or identify it first?
Always identify first! When you identify, you get a chance at an upgrade, so you could miss out on rares or exotics if you salvage the stack.
So it's more profitable to identify then salvage than just selling the unidentified gear directly?

The important thing is to make sure you use the appropriate kits on each type of unid.

@@johndulfo7036 In the video I was using Tekkit's, but I've recently made a switch to Lady Elyssa's. It'll have you teleport around a bit more, but feels faster and smoother.
Not shown in the video, but sometimes I use [fast]'s packs for some mussels, jungle plants, and verdant herbs.

It kind of depends what your chosen route/routine will be. As mentioned, I'd recommend revisiting Bitterfrost every hour, and maybe even Octovine every 2h.
Bitterfrost Icebound chests are around 25GPH, Octovine comes dcown to 49gph (mind you, you get around 6.5 gold from Octovine, but stating it in Gold Per Hour will give you a more accurate way to compare numbers).

Bjora Marches and Istan should probably be your top priority, because you can convert everything your get there to another 6-7 gold each.
But with all the daily farming, when do I have time to actually play the game?...

No one forces you to farm, you can just play randomly, getting les gold per hour, if you enjoy it that way congratulations for you, i thought we play game to enjoy it.
I might have been misinterpreted, I'm not complaining whatsoever. Just saying I don't find a farming routine to be fun, that's all. When I enter this game loop, I usually quit the game for weeks or months shortly after.

Just do the semi combo way...
Just take a look at gw2 Wiki event timer... find Events you enjoy... and time them with a routine of your own together... and change it up from time to time.

My daily routine lately...
Reset: tequatl karka LLA... rush to tangled for chak meta... followed by Tarir meta or DS followed by a break where i do daily/weekly and or parked chars followed by Casino Event in amnoon with pinata... up until yesterday i went to do hearts for druid stones on my 2. Acc for the wayfahrers henge achiev backitem...
I have little Breaks inbetween my routine for a smoke or wha'ever...
Now to get to the logic behind my routine...
I have 1g and Chance on themed asc weapon box at teq.. shells and Chance on infu at karka... MC with LLA ... Loot and Chance on infu at chak + working on pve leggie armor on 2. Acc... loot and Chance on infu Plus somehow seemingly better Chance on precursor at tarir... plus TM in tangled and AB with double Chance at invisible boots... good loot and Chance on infu and special asc weapon Box at DS ... and pinata is another infu Chance plus i enjoy hitting it... plus i can Level my other accs pof mastery exp for mounts very easily...
My parked chars Chance from time to time too...
Depending on what i need most and loot profits... atm i am about to change my flax chars... because i have a lot now... i might go for another few weeks of doing Lake Doric stealth thief leather farm or do the ori ore farm again... cause im under 1k on both...
Oh... and depending on how early i come home from work i do soo won DE meta before reset or a few rounds of open home community service

Jokes aside, it's not you, it's all the people making Obsidian Armor needing 3600+ Ectos per set, NOT counting Clovers, the precursor Astral Ward/Oneiros-Spun armor sets, or Motivations, all of which need Ectos as well.
@@rgentry9 I did make 7% back in dust but yeah I tried to see if that much luck would finally get me close to 300%, it didn't, it was a huge waste of luck, only went from 251 to 256
Well if you made a profit doing it, then it sounds worthwhile.
