    Difference between Greatsword and dual Swords is that GS is for either bosses with big hitbox. Like raid bosses and IBS strikes or againts many small hitbox enemies. While Swords are better on single small hitbox like EoD strikes

      Sword is better with Assassin too. I prefer GS when Dwarf is taken, so I pretty much just stick with GS. It's rotation feels more fun to me.

    Thanks, great impression :)
    You missed 2 things:
    First: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! This class has 600 range for all it's boons. The dilemene which you had on your KO fight where you though "I have aggro of this enemy and need to keep him apart from the other one but I also need to provide my party with boons" was not a dilema for a Herald because 600 range allows you to kite these things.
    Second: The trait Shared Empowerment pulses out might. In Dragon you give out 25 might and in dwarf it can fall down to 18.
    Also because of Spirit boon you give out stability the moment you swap to dwarf with no energy cost.
    Other notes I would like to add to this class:
    If you keep your rotation tight you have no problem of having 100% uptime for protection and fury. If you want to have a little more room, you can also use the trait Assasin's presence to have 100% fury uptime.
    And while the shown rotation for Glint is the one with the highest dmg, you can also upkeep other Facets if your team needs them. To be more precise you can upkeep Facets for Might for a faster ramp up, for Regeneration or Swiftness. As long as the combination of the Facets uses 6 enmergy pips or more you can use whatever combination you like.
    In case your team is covered for CC you can also swap out Staff for a ranged weapon, so shortbow or hammer or you can go for Sword Sword/ Greatsword for maximum melee dmg.

    I've been using this class for HTCM - it's without a doubt the easiest quick dps.
    only things I saw that I fell into the same trap of were not re-casting your two dragon facets on your way out of dragon for the 10% bonus in alt legend. With that being the first and last thing you do in dragon, you get a permanent 10% buff.
    You can also hold dragon and fury thing up a little longer, but really, the 'worst' thing I saw was the 10% damage loss by not activating facet.

    • @arthusii3024
      @arthusii3024 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume you're talking about Facet of Strength, in which case that's 15% dmg increase for 10 secs which is really nice especially if going into Shiro and into Impossible Odds. Idk what you're talking about with "dragon and fury"...

  • @koabi9658
    @koabi9658 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

    Some thoughts:
    One minor mistake in the rotation is that you did not double tap the facets a second time before swapping back to the other legends. Happens to a lot of new herald players, but costs a lot of dps.
    On the choice of legends:
    I honestly dont see a reason why i would ever play assassin over dragon. I know, its 6 more button presses (just double tapping the facets), but if you can manage that it is not just more dps, but also more boons and more utility (superspeed and knockback on elite, broken heal skill). Dwarf is indeed very good whenever the stabi is needed, but for some encounters where there are not a lot of CCs you can often swap in assassin instead. It may not cost you a lot of dps, but still more than if the healer just provided it.
    Also, I wanted to mention that both shortbow and hammer are sometimes good choices as offhand weapon instead of the staff if ranged cc and dmg are needed (I prefer shortbow).
    Also, while swords are in theory better than GS on small hitboxes I have literally never seen swords outdps GS in any encounter, no matter the hitbox size, so make of that what you will.
    On the topic of condi qHerald: I think qherald is way easier to learn than condi alacregade because the energy management lines up better. I think for a lot of encounters it is just not that much stronger than the power variant tho, which is surprisingly viable on a lot of "condi encounters". So unless you specifically want to run ToF CM i would honestly just not bother with the condi build, mainly because it suffers more from changing legends to bring utility.

      what do you mean by double tap? you mean when he activated the facet and then used the second facet after it? I thought he did do that

    • @koabi9658
      @koabi9658 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@zumasa9991 By double tap i mean activate the facet (passive) and then immediately use the active flip over skill as well.
      He did use both facets(might and swiftness) when he swapped to the dragon, but you want to also use them a second time before you swap to the other legend. That means Swap to dragon, double tap facet of strength and facet of elements, stay on dragon for about 10 seconds (a bit more than the cooldown of legend swap, giving quickness by having the elite facet and fury facet active) and as soon as facet of strength and elements is off cd you double tap them again and only then swap back to dwarf/assassin. Reason for that is that elemental blast is just good dps skill and burst of strength is a very important %dmg modifier that you can keep up for both "halfs" of the rotation by using it twice on dragon

    The only thing I'd poke at here is the concept of "OMG so many buttons!" Rev has 21-28 depending on espec. On the low end, Warrior has 16-22, Thief has 18-25, Guard (other than FB) has 18. Mes has 19. Necro has 21, Ranger has 19-23. So rev at 21-28 is a bit more than average, but it's nothing like ele (29+ and let's not talk about weaver), kit engi (15-50), or firebrand (33).
    Being locked out of reactive abilities is not fun, though, can't argue there.

      Aye, the button count alone is not an issue. For me the problem was the energy system on top of that.
      Other classes, if you want to heal/stab/whatever: Is it available? yes? then go ahead.
      Rev: Is it available? Are you in the right legend? Do you have enough energy? No to any of those? You are punished.
      There are 3 checkboxes instead of 1 for any skill. Some people will enjoy this, I find it extra tedious.

    If you're not doing anything too serious, pick whichever weapon (gs or s/s) you like better.
    If you're curious, sw/sw is about 1k over gs on golem, but gs pulls ahead on big hitboxes like harvest temple, keep construct, and icebrood construct. And as mentioned in the video, gs has a block that is damage positive.
    Greatsword is also a bit burstier.

  • @kane2056
    @kane2056 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    For the stances:
    - Dwarf+Assassin for ultimate easy mode as a beginner or casual. Literally just toggle impossible odds/vengeful hammers as soon as you legend swap and do that off cooldown.
    - Dragon+Assassin should become your default as soon as you have a basic understanding of revenant. Yes, Dragon is a bit harder to understand and your utility skills there follow a rotation instead of yolo unga bunga, but you provide so much more boons instead of just quickness.
    - Dragon+Dwarf: On fights where you need stability. Muk makes it sound like access to stab makes this the prefered option everywhere, but please don't bring dwarf to a fight where stability doesn't do anything, you're losing damage for no reason.
    - Dragon+Centaur: For proj block on specifically Adina, Boneskinner, or Harvest Temple, if you're not running a Venticator or Heal Herald

  • @guys-b3in-dudes
    @guys-b3in-dudes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Here's a couple things I think might be useful to know for new players/new revs:
    The biggest thing for energy management is to know what skills cost flat energy vs the cost of upkeep. Dwarf hammers has no flat cost but requires 6 energy pips to remain active, putting you into an energy drain. This is probably where a lot of people find themselves losing their energy when starting out, since they're so used to spamming their skills off cool down with no penalty. Learning to juggle these will bring you success.
    Once you do that and you start learning the harder fights, you pick up on a certain tempo for when you need to be in a certain stance for your utility.
    Sword/Sword is good and my personal preference these days, but Great Sword can be comparable, and sometimes preferred, based on the encounter. S/S is great on single target bosses since Sword 2 gains damage on isolated targets, and Sword 5 is a shadow-step that hits for big damage. GS 5's damage scales on target size, and 4 is a great block to have on demand, rather than needing to swap for staff 3. Let your heart decide how you feel.
    Assassin is better for DPS, but Dwarf might be preferred if you're team is struggling with the boss' CC. I choose Assassin most days, but swap on occasion if the fight calls for it. Always bring Dragon if you're running Herald, you're trolling otherwise.
    CondiQuick is a tough rotation and not too many fights benefit from using it over the power variation. I still have trouble with it so I don't tend to bring it a lot of the time. But if you prefer Mace/Axe with Shortbow, and Dragon/Demon stance, go learn it and have fun.

    Really good for solo open world, give 25 might, fury, protect, swiftness, regen, you can use dragon's heal to transform every dmg into heal, got a lot of cc, stab if you take dwarf or centaure and you can reduce dmg taken with dwarf with ultimate or F2 (it's a unique buff so it work with protect too.) Great sword have ton of aoe and a block, you can switch staff to bow if you need range.

    a couple things to note about this build in particular.
    snowcrows and other websites, when moving the mouse over evelated compassion (the trait that gives quickness) says that it gives vigor, but it doesn't in game.
    outside of that, baseline you get 17 mights, fury, and boon extension, as long as you have a healer, prot its most times already covered (unless its a heal bladesworn that struggles with prot or going for soloheal)
    its sc bench says 32k on swords + staff, but sw/sw gs gets some extra damage that gets better the bigger the hitbox for when you dont need staff 5 or when using it could lead to falling off a platform (shortbow also works, to loose less dps when needing to cc than staff)
    then dwarf its a valid option for stab, f1 being a 10% damage reduction on passive with stab on active, ventari drops your dps but it has a proj block.
    and thats basically it, the swiftness and extra might on their respective facets are used off cd unless you really want that swiftness (do not hold the might one), it works, and its good, but its not as good as everyone praises it to be.
    the important upsides are optional stab and 600 boon range, with fury for those healers that cant cover it.

    Just started playing quick Herald for both my raid teams last week. Took maybe 30 mins poking golems with the power and condi builds to get a least somewhat comfy w/ their rotations.
    The condi variant has a fair bit of overlap conceptually with the power one. It does lose out on utility since dropping Mallyx for Jalis is a much larger damage loss than swapping Shiro for Jalis in the power version.
    I might toss on the great sword and give it a go; I had been sticking with dual swords per the Snowcrows setup.
    Very possible rev becomes my main once I have legendary armor for it (which I should have the LI for in August/September)

  • @Solanaar
    @Solanaar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I main quickness DPS Herald. I think the energy system is actually not as intimidating as many people think it is (depending on the build). With a relaxed playstyle you generally won't run out of energy - except when using the road, of course.
    However, I don’t think it is a great choice for qDPS, when doing challenging content. Its utility is unreliable and it lacks CC* (*if you don’t swap to staff). Swapping to staff means a decent loss of damage.
    It is, however, the perfect QDPS for Lfg or when you don't need to try hard. Because once you got that rhythm down and just do your rotation, you can turn off your brain. It is definitely not flexible, but very relaxing. Once you’ve learned the legend skills, that’s it - which is also it's greatest weakness.

The suck/push damage of the phases does a lot of damage on CM and it's common for players to be spread out making it difficult on healers. The revenant dwarf kit has its elite giving their group 50% damage reduction. It is great for those kinds of situations.

    Something to add, Dwarf also gives you an "Oh Shit" button in the form of Rite of the Great Dwarf, which gives you and your party percentage damage reduction, it does however eat heavily into your energy-pool and will probably cost you some uptime, but loosing boon uptime in exchange for not wiping is a worthwhile trade in my opinion.
    Also run Centaur in Wing 7, you will hard-carry every encounter until Qadim.
    On the topic of cQuickHerald, I found it situationally useful in certain raid encounters, mainly in Wing 1 and Wing 6, and I sometimes take it into wing 4 because half the encounters there are just Golems. It is definetly easier to play than cAlacrigade, and you should not underestimate the utility of Malyx, having mobility, CC and Boonstrip on extremely short cooldowns, though at the cost of a lot of energy, but again, better to loose some Boon uptime but enable the clear of a fight then to wipe because of a not-quite finished CC Bar or an enemy that needed Boonstrip.

    Im playing quickness herald with assasin and dwarf. Not bothering with dragon. It does more dps on the golem than dragon/dwarf or dragon /assasin and its extremely easy basicly 4 buttons is all you need. Now i said it deals more dmg on the golem but in real situations its not that good. Its not bad but not that good as a meta build mainy because with dwarf/assasin all you can provide for yourself is quickness and 15-16 stacks of might and some fury but not with 100% uptime (on fury) so if my group is lacking my dps goes underground. I usually do like 17-20k dps with a pug group while providing quickness so its not that bad but not too good either. But its extremely simple with only 4 buttons. 5 or 6 if you have to provide stability too buts still easy :)

    To be fair, in a normal fight you aren't using anywhere near 20 skills like Elementalist does. It's great to know what they do when needed, but 90% of the time you aren't using them. You mostly need to remember
    - Greatsword skills
    - Staff 5
    - Glint Facet of Darkness (keep active for Fury + consume for emergency stunbreak)
    - Glint's elite Facet (keep active for Protection + consume for CC)
    - Glint heal (consume for healing propotional to damage taken for a few seconds)
    - Glint remaining consumes (mostly damage)
    - Jalis' hammers, road and chain
    Those are 13 skills that you need to remember in a normal fight. Of course, it's great to know your entire toolkit, but at that point it's like asking for Power Alac Mechanists to remember what each kit does :P

    Once youve tried qdps herald, you will definitely know how easy it is to play. Youll keep coming back, and then you realize you auto switch to herald when your PT needs qdps. I love my FB but man, herald is on another level 😂.
    PS. Yes you can have more utility on power (dwarf) but more CC on condi (malyx, shortbow, mace axe)

    I would personally add that herald is carring most groups because it has access to almost 100% protection uptime as well as 600 range with all the boons. You said that you didnt go that much into all utilities but for example the dwarf elite is super fun skill that provides 50% damage reduction to everyone in the subgroup and shouldnt be downplayed.

    Always funny when he says herald is hard (condi is yes) to learn, when this is the definition of unga bunga.
    You can play it to an extremely acceptable level without even reading what the abilities do and be fine in 95% of all fights.
    Ps. Should have tried condi that's the fun build.

    Your endconclusion off Quickness herald being hard is kinda wrong. Yes you have a lot of buttons but like you said you barely use emm all. so there is no reason to know all the buttons if you are never gonna use em. You can give quickness at 600 range by pressing one button. whilst doing decent dps. Yes energy is a bit off a pickle, but after like 1-2 hours you will be good enough to play quickness herald for 90% off the end game.
    It is the easiest boondps build to play and learn up to a decent PUG level (so is heal herald).
    Like you said: pres hammers in jalis use either AA chain or GS5 and Gs2 and you have quick upkeep and overstack swap legends or don't swap let your energy regain and just use AA and you are fine.

    To maintain better DPS on the build, remember to enter and exit Glint with Elemental Blast and Burst of Strength.
    Burst of Strength, the flip skill of Facet of Strength (your E key when in Glint), gives you a 15% boost for 10 seconds (where possible, GS 5 while under this buff)
    Elemental Blast, the flip skill of Facet of Elements (your R key when in Glint), is a multi pulse damage skill which also provides Weakness and Chilled.
    Random Glint notes:
    - The heal skill under Glint when consumed will convert all damage taken into healing for 3 secs (you can eat Deimos Mind Crush with this, among other things).
    - You can provide permanent 18 stacks of might while doing regular rotation.
    - Glint elite when consumed is your primary source of CC.
    Random Dwarf notes:
    - Facet of Nature (your S+2 key) while under dwarf is a 10% sub wide damage reduction, gives sub wide STAB when consumed (in case road is on CD).
    - Dwarf elite gives your sub 5 seconds of 50% damage reduction, stack this with protection and Facet of Nature for some silly levels of mitigation.
    - Forced Engagement (your R key under dwarf) is your backup CC (4 seconds of taunt and slow).

    The boon application cannot be understated. This class can do 600 RADIUS boons. The boons are PULSING, so low downtime if someone has to run away and come back. The rotation OVERCAPS on it's boons, allowing your sub to be very mobile and maintain dps. It can PRE-BOON as it doesn't require any targets to output boons. It can ADAPT it's boons to cover healer gaps for swiftness, might, protection, fury or regen. It can EXTEND everyone else's boons to improve entire sub group uptime.
    This is why herald is the best boon dps in the game. In fact it's so good it has shifted the pve end game meta into favouring alac based healers so that the group can bring qdps heralds.
    One thing I will note is the stability on herald is incredibly overrated. While the facet of nature consume provides a decent amount of stab at a low cost, road is such an expensive stab for no good reason. Please stop asking your boon dps to bring stability. There is no actual scenario where it's better for the boon dps to do stab over the healer. I keep seeing groups ask for this and it's ALWAYS because they picked a wrong healer who cannot give good stab for a fight that benefits from stab.

    @3:04 "a tiny bit of might and swifness", really 25 might? 😂
    I must admit that I'm confused by the fact that perma 25might, fury, protect, swifness at 600 range is so easy and yet your description makes it seem like its hard to play. Otherwise, I appreciate this serie!

  • @GreenLarsen
    @GreenLarsen 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Perma 20*might, swiftness, prot and fury all in 600 range. 3 ways to give stab on dwarf. Insane cc and the best absorb in game. Not to mention movement skills and blocks for yourself. Ohh and your heal make you take no damage for 3 sec and and.. not an OP build at all, anet look away pls ^^

    the sheer amount of boons herald pushes out for a very simple rotation is why its used in basically every high end clear, also, bonus of perma prot, 25 might and fury is very nice if you either solo heal or your healer doenst really know what they are doing boonwise
