I've been playing Throne and Liberty for the last 5 days for about 50 hours. I dove into the game despite having read quite a few negative reviews on the Pay to Win and PvP aspects, but I was pleasantly surprised...
I mainly play PvE in MMORPGs, so it was interesting to see how PvP can affect open world events, as now you're not only dealing with enemy mobs, but also with players potentially wanting to steal your event loot. Don't worry if this isn't your cup of tea, though, as you can stick to safe zones, which rotate throughout the days and do those events instead.
The dungeons in the game have given me back that old-school MMORPG feel. Not because the dungeons are old, but discovering bosses with rather unique mechanics for the first time was a breath of fresh air. The open world dungeons being there just to farm mobs is also a nice addition for a player like myself.
I've already come in contact with the Pay to Win aspects of the game. While they're not enticing enough for a player like me, I can definitely say it is pay to win, as you can buy gear for premium currency from the auction house. In fact, you can only use premium currency to buy items on there. The good news is that that also means you can earn premium currency by selling your own loot, so there's a positive side to this after all.
