First of all many thanks for your detailed walkthrough. One question though, on around 25:11 you are placing some files in the boxart folder for that system (snes) You have a map structure for all the systems and where to put everything in. In my setup there is no mapstructure present. Do you have to create this yourself? And how to know what to name things?

def gonna give this a try. question do you have to use a hard drive? can you do this all on a 500gb SD? and is the only way to download all the ROM text names at once from media fire is to to get premium?
Hi! Thanks a lot for this tutorial, I followed it step by step for Wii, Gamecube and N64 games and it was a success! I have a question. I added some N64 roms and covers. Wiiflow detected the roms and added the covers for most of them, except for about 10 roms for which the name changes did not work automatically and for which no box cover was uploaded. I manually changed the roms names and added the box covers (re-naming them manually too), but nothing changes when I'm in the console. I even deleted a rom from the SD card (because I accidentally uploaded it twice) and it still shows up in the console menu. Do you know if Wiiflow can re-detect roms and box-covers, as it happens @26:24? I have searched in the settings and I don't see an option for it. Thank you!
I'm not with my console at the moment, but I'm pretty sure if you hit the home button there is a way to reload the cashe in wiiflow. Perhaps that might help
Note to self: GAMENAME.nes and GAMENAME .nes.png In folders SD:\ROMS\Nintendo\NES and SD:\wiiflow\boxcovers\Nintendo\NES Then reload cache by pressing HOME > reload cache (optionally when replacing boxcovers delete SD:\wiiflow\cache\Nintendo\NES then reload cache)
Hey huge thank you for this video, I followed it and was able to do it to mine as well! I love it. One question though, towards the end when your doing the retro games, you put all your coverart/roms on the SD card, is it possible to do that to the hdd? I have a lot of roms, and an external drive that has my wii/gc games, but then we swapped over in the video to putting the retro stuff on the sd. Just curious, or if you had any advice. Thanks for the video! Also loved your video on the trace repair on xbox, ive done quite a bit of that myself!
I haven't tried it actually, but if you look in the USB files that you place on the HDD, I believe there is a section for a cover art so it might work What I don't know is if the games have to be in the same spot as the cover art to work because if so I don't think retro games work from the HDD
I'm going to set this up manana dude. Will fuzzy rename tool work for emulation station as well? I assume it would. Anyways thanks for the video 👊 fist bump
Thanks for the setup info. But I am having some issues with games not saving the data after you play them and for the wii fit, (not sure if it should save to the SD card or the hard drive), also I can't seem to add games to the favorites folder (click on the star icon which add games, but after turning wii off when it restarts they are not there). Could you cover all the settings (14 pages) in the wii/wii flow. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me. My grand kids love the wii and I want to get it working for them to enjoy while they are small.
Hi! The issue of not being able to save games in WiiFlow is often caused by one of these problems. Here are some steps you can try to fix it: 1. Check Storage Permissions Make sure your SD card or USB drive isn’t write-protected (check the physical lock switch). Ensure the drive is formatted as FAT32 and has enough free space, in your case, you might want to try reformatting it. Update WiiFlow Make sure you’re using the latest version of WiiFlow or WiiFlow Lite, along with updated plugins. Verify the Game File The game file might be corrupted. If possible, re-rip it from the original disc or check it with a tool like Wii Backup Manager. Check Your cIOS WiiFlow needs a properly configured cIOS to save games. Make sure you have cIOS 249, 250, or 251 installed. If you're unsure, try using the d2x cIOS installer.
I had the same problem. Make sure to load games with the (wii/Gamecube) manager programs and try changing the games to use iso250. is what worked for me.
I’m having the same problem. I know the hard drive works, it works just fine on my other Wii that I modded years ago. The newer versions of Wiiflow aren’t recognizing it.
I just want to start by saying that this is a great guide! I have issues getting the cover art to load for the Wii games. I will continue to work on that. I did, however, have a question about trying a new HDD. I was already playing on one, but I wanted to get a smaller HDD to use for the Wii. I tried doing a straight copy from my previous HDD to the new one, but the Wii seems to not be able to find the games.... Now it also looks like the older HDD is having the same issues when I tried to switch back to it. Any help would be appreciated.
26:00 I see that you put all of your game files into somewhere on your SD card. But how are they then read by the emulators? For example, I have Super Mario 64 saved in Not64. Not64 has 2 folders in it, ROMS and saves. The Super MArio 64 rom is saved in there as well as the save. But it's saved IN the emulator's folders. So how does that work when I have to put the file somewhere else?
I had wiiflow working perfectly fine until i had a full usb drive, i would try to load into wiiflow and it would black screen for a few seconds then go back to the wii menu, i even tried emptying the usb but it would do the same thing. i ended up having to reinstall wiiflow back onto my sd card and it started working again. do you have to have space on the usb for some reason?
Hey man, you can use teconmoons injector to basically make a shortcut for games that are located on your nand(vwii) on the Wii U which I have done myself, do you know if it is POSSIBLE to make shortcuts for games located on your emulated nand(usb drive)?
Hey can you help point me to the best option to play any/all GameCube games? (Without needing the physical discs) I watched a few of your videos but unsure which mod and system is best for that purpose. Appreciate your help!
Hi amazing tutorial but I have Gx Loader working fully but when I try luanch games from wiiflow I get wiiflow logo then reset to wii menu. Could you help please?
@BelowAverageGaming Excellent and very thorough video but before I start this process from scratch, is there any way to simply upgrade my WiiFlow from 5.5.3. I have looked around, but I can’t find any straightforward answers or mention about upgrading at all. All of the videos seem to be starting fresh from a newly modded Wii. If I remember correctly, older versions of WiiFlow had an upgrade feature inside the settings menu, but I can’t seem to find anything like that now.
@@BelowAverageGaming I must be getting too old for this stuff hahah. I found this too and for the life of me it reads like a foreign language. I tried this a few times a few different ways with the latest release to no avail. Fortunately, I cloned my SD card before attempting any of this. I think I just might stick with 5.5.3. for the time being. Thank you anyway and keep up the awesome videos.
Great tutorial. I do have one question. I got to the end and I realized all the SNES games and data are on the SD card. What Data (folders) do I move from the SD card so I am playing/pulling the games from the HDD?
@@BelowAverageGaming I figured it out when using gcbm they would show as game only so i renamed them to game.iso but doing that actually names it game.iso.iso
The tutorial was very useful. But what is the plugins section used for? You said you'd come back to it but it wasn't covered later. I'm guessing a way to enable various cores, kind of like Retroarch?
It's exactly that, you can access it through the settings menu. An example of it would be, Do you want to play Nintendo 64? Go into the plugins and you can use either mupin64 or wii 64? Stuff like that. Not everything is offered though and not everything works
@BelowAverageGaming Interesting. Are these emulators self-contained within Wiiflow and just need to be activated, or do they need to be installed separately? It gets a little confusing if you're already using stand-alone emulators and later install this because it's not clear what's being launched.
All the files that currently work should have been included on the SD card during the tutorial. like my comment above, I believe you should have mupin and wii 64 off rip. I'm sure you can probably add emulators as well, but I would imagine they wouldn't have custom icons and everything depending on what it is, if it's not already included on the SD. But yes, just need to be activated. If I'm not mistaken, there might be two different PS1 emulator options as well.
Going off your username, I'm assuming you're in the US, I just bought a standard EZ store drive from Best buy for about 60 bucks. 2 TB! My drive personally has a "Y" splitter cable going from the HDD to the Wii and plugs in both USB ports Hope that helps
Wow, thanks a lot! I was running my Wii with Homebrew, but that is way better, and your explanation made it super simple to install everything. I have just one question thought. Is it possible to remove the systems I don't play, like Intelivision and PCs, to make it look cleaner and show only the ones I do play? Thanks for sharing all that knowledge.
I have a Homebrew Nintendo DSi XL. Can I do anything with my Homebrew Nintendo Wii and the NDS? Can I put games on it from the Wii or use it as a controller.
Do you need to use the same SD card that you installed the Homebrew Channel (are all those install files needed on the SD as well as the new Wiiflow stuff, for Wiiflow to work)?

is it possible to use this setup with sd card only? or is hdd/usbdrive is a must? i dont have a lot of wii and gamecube game 64gb or 128gb would suffice for me. anyway thanks for the tutorial! the result looks great i would've never find wiiflow can do these things if i dont watch your video
I just did today. Only things I did different was when I something said copy to usb i didn't do them. Also put the wbfs and games folder on sd card. It saw my wii game right away and i had to change the game cube setting to look on the sd card.
@@hunters758i didn’t copy the USB stuff or you copied the USB stuff on the SD?
16:45 how do I get it to say USB1 and USB2 instead of SD/USB?
Try going to page two of the settings, then start up settings, then disable mount SD only. That might help
That was the exact problem thank you so much now I can play my dad and beat him in all his favorite games👍🏾
super lost on the copy to USB. I am just using an sd card and unsure what to do 9 minutes and 40 seconds
same here
absolutly loved wiiflow way better than usb loader gx in my opinion it has much simpler and easier way to fix and pla as well as emulation so a 10/10
def gonna give this a try. question do you have to use a hard drive? can you do this all on a 500gb SD? and is the only way to download all the ROM text names at once from media fire is to to get premium?
A hard drive is highly recommended as you may run into issues using just an SD card.
The rom text names is now a Google drive link
Nice tutorial, can we use SSD to store/load games? I couldn't find any on the compatibility list
It's Hit or Miss, some drives work and some drives don't. I haven't heard anything over 2 TB working though
@@BelowAverageGaming It worked, thanks! You're the best!
Note to self: GAMENAME.nes and GAMENAME .nes.png
In folders SD:\ROMS\Nintendo\NES and SD:\wiiflow\boxcovers\Nintendo\NES
Then reload cache by pressing HOME > reload cache
(optionally when replacing boxcovers delete SD:\wiiflow\cache\Nintendo\NES then reload cache)
I haven't tried it actually, but if you look in the USB files that you place on the HDD, I believe there is a section for a cover art so it might work
What I don't know is if the games have to be in the same spot as the cover art to work because if so I don't think retro games work from the HDD
What ever happened with this. Were you able to get the retro games to play off of a hard drive?
Where can I get that wallpaper ??? That thing is 🔥…
I'm going to set this up manana dude.
Here are some steps you can try to fix it:
1. Check Storage Permissions
Make sure your SD card or USB drive isn’t write-protected (check the physical lock switch).
Ensure the drive is formatted as FAT32 and has enough free space, in your case, you might want to try reformatting it.
Update WiiFlow
Make sure you’re using the latest version of WiiFlow or WiiFlow Lite, along with updated plugins.
Verify the Game File
The game file might be corrupted. If possible, re-rip it from the original disc or check it with a tool like Wii Backup Manager.
Check Your cIOS
WiiFlow needs a properly configured cIOS to save games. Make sure you have cIOS 249, 250, or 251 installed. If you're unsure, try using the d2x cIOS installer.
Great video, very detailed
hey sorry but the snes box art and more dont work anymore😢
You talking about the box art link? There's two links, did you check both?
@ yea it does sorry i saw it mid way 😖 but yea thx
Was wondering if there is any special process for deleting games on Wiiflow?
Hi! Nice tutorial, but my games keep bringing me back to Home Screen when loading. How to make it work?
I had the same problem. Make sure to load games with the (wii/Gamecube) manager programs and try changing the games to use iso250. is what worked for me.
Would i be able to follow this guide for the Wii u’s vWii?
I know it definitely works, but your file structuring will be a little different probably
@@BelowAverageGaming ok, thanks for the reply!
@@BelowAverageGamingis there another guide on how to format it correctly for the vwii? I’m a noob at modding and scared of messing things up 😞
Do you have a video from start … home-brew etc etc
Sure do. th-cam.com/video/0UfP3fLlM6w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uBelNwGOi3WTTDAu
Hmm Wiiflow isn't reading my HDD, but USBLoaderGX is and can run them no issue. Has anyone else run into this issue and what did they do to fix it
I have the same problem. Did you choose the latest WiiFlow update (2024) or the previous version from this video?
I’m having the same problem. I know the hard drive works, it works just fine on my other Wii that I modded years ago. The newer versions of Wiiflow aren’t recognizing it.
Do you have it pugged into the USB port closest to the edge of the console?
I tried mine in both USB ports and it wasn’t working. I scratched the whole setup and started fresh on a different Wii.
Link to your wallpaper pls
16:22 How the heck do I remove these videos? Snapshot and trailer folders are empty...
For some reason, I still can’t get the box covers for the retro consoles to show up correctly
When you say hard drive do you mean like external hdd? Is it ok to use an external ssd?
Nope. It has compatibilty issues. Use a compatible external HDD. Not all HDD's will work. I can attest that LaCie Rugged brand will work
@@dallinferguson994 thanks, what specs is your HDD?
*REQUEST* How to upgrade Wii U WBFS HDD?????????? How to back it up???????
Hey man, you can use teconmoons injector to basically make a shortcut for games that are located on your nand(vwii) on the Wii U which I have done myself, do you know if it is POSSIBLE to make shortcuts for games located on your emulated nand(usb drive)?
Is it possible to play wii games that you dont own? I really wanted to play some but i dont find wii games anymore.
@BelowAverageGamer
Have u tested NES emulation on your tutorial. I am getting bad stuterring in that particular emulator
Should I have one Wii for GameCube games and one Wii for Wii games?
I tried doing all this on my Wii U. The only problem is the Wiiflow forwarder channel doesn't work.
Hey can you help point me to the best option to play any/all GameCube games? (Without needing the physical discs) I watched a few of your videos but unsure which mod and system is best for that purpose. Appreciate your help!
Nintendont is the best! I have every single gc game on a hard drive that plugs into my wii. Everything is native and I use a gc controller too
Hi amazing tutorial but I have Gx Loader working fully but when I try luanch games from wiiflow I get wiiflow logo then reset to wii menu. Could you help please?
Same thing here
Hey all of a sudden it worked! Idk why. Good Luck try removing the Sd card or Reseting the wii!
I did this and it worked for me.
Is it okay to scrub the gamecube games or does that cause an issue?
@BelowAverageGaming
Excellent and very thorough video but before I start this process from scratch, is there any way to simply upgrade my WiiFlow from 5.5.3.
This came up with a quick Google search.

What Data (folders) do I move from the SD card so I am playing/pulling the games from the HDD?
everything worked all the way up until getting the GameCube games to play they load and show up in wiiflow but says gamecube loader not found
Hmm, maybe this will help you

@@BelowAverageGaming I figured it out when using gcbm they would show as game only so i renamed them to game.iso but doing that actually names it game.iso.iso
@@BelowAverageGaming i figured out it was because i would name the file game.iso, but i was actually naming it game.iso.iso
The tutorial was very useful. But what is the plugins section used for? You said you'd come back to it but it wasn't covered later. I'm guessing a way to enable various cores, kind of like Retroarch?
It's exactly that, you can access it through the settings menu.
An example of it would be,
Do you want to play Nintendo 64?
Hi,
i did excatly the same as you shown
if i try to open wiiflow my wii shoutdown
help
May I know how we switch the game without reboot the wii console via wiiflow ?
Is there a way to store the ROMs on the HDD instead of the SD card?
What hdd do you use
@BelowAverageGaming what exact model do you recommend for the external hard drive? Also, does it have external power as well? Thank you
Going off your username, I'm assuming you're in the US, I just bought a standard EZ store drive from Best buy for about 60 bucks. 2 TB!
My drive personally has a "Y" splitter cable going from the HDD to the Wii and plugs in both USB ports
Hope that helps
Wow, thanks a lot! I was running my Wii with Homebrew, but that is way better, and your explanation made it super simple to install everything.
I have just one question thought. Is it possible to remove the systems I don't play, like Intelivision and PCs, to make it look cleaner and show only the ones I do play?
Thanks for sharing all that knowledge.
Not possible unfortunately, it's part of the setup
how do u use the usd hard drive so u have a game on that not sd
i really love this it was working really well but my ps1 games didnt seem to want to show up and i cant seem to find boxart for my snes
Great, thanks!!!😸
I have a Homebrew Nintendo DSi XL. Can I do anything with my Homebrew Nintendo Wii and the NDS? Can I put games on it from the Wii or use it as a controller.
Do you need to use the same SD card that you installed the Homebrew Channel (are all those install files needed on the SD as well as the new Wiiflow stuff, for Wiiflow to work)?
Yes, correct
Thanks. Still having issues with WiiFlow starting up. I see the splash screen for a couple seconds and then wii resets.
Does it work if you start the application through the homebrew launcher instead?
Negative. I seem to get further than just a black screen and reset from wii homescreen, but nothing more than about 2 sec of wiiflow loading screen.
@coreeshnick6234 okay, new plan. Delete everything you installed here so you can start fresh.
Then do this : wii.hacks.guide/cios.html
Then follow this guide again
when i transfer them to wbfs they dont come in a folder or with a dif name, did i miss a step or something?
Wiiflow works with WiiU Pro controller?
is this mod with games? or do you need to get games for it?
It doesn't include any games for anything, 'cause it's illegal
WiiFlow or USB Loader GX?
Is there a service that could do all this and send the console back?
what ROMS are you using? im mostly modding my wii for Wii games and got stuck around 11:39 this is my first time modding anything so im a bit lost
My NES library and my covers are named the same but I can get wiflow to load or convert my covers, any tip?
can this still be done with a mac Laptop? or does iy have to be strictly windows?

does the emulation station type ui only work with the rhapsody theme or does it work on the default theme?
It will work without the theme. It'll just be a blank black background I believe
This is amazing! I am having one issue though. This set up worked flawlessly for one of my wii systems. The other keeps giving me this error "No Games Found". I have gone through most of the basics and I am not sure what else I could try to get these to be found. I would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Whelp NM. Apparently going back through the wad installer and reinstalling the wad "Blue circles" fixed the issue. Incase anyone else runs into this issue.
Hi, I followed the guide, but I am stuck. Wiiflow doesn’t have a usb2 option on the partitions. Only sd and sd/usb , so it doesn’t see the hard drive or the games. Please help.
