For those who keep asking how I use PS4/PS3 controllers, heres a tutorial I wrote a couple months back after struggling to install it myself. forum.mattkc.com/viewtopic.php?t=354 The site is functioning once again.
this is the dopest mod i've seen in ages and first wii hdmi mod that hasnt infuriated me beyond belief haha. i'd love to see more modding or even just wii stuff, wiimmfi + mkwii = match made in heaven!
I would not have gone with a clear case for this setup with your current modding skills. However, well done on the soldering and modding overall! But yeah that looks....kind of...scuffed lol. But. It gives it personality.
I never seen a Wii like this. Aleady subscribed! Must have been a quite low budget project but, with enough determination and creativity, even one with limited tools and features can pull something incredible. Amazingly great! 😉👍
Thank you! It wasn't a super high budget project. I _could_ have spent upwards o $70 on the HDMI mod, but a cheaper universal HDMI board looks great. And its also from Electron Sheppard, the maker of the AVE-HDMI.
@@ShuffleHands220 Ah that definitely sounds like it should've worked well, but yeah like at least it functions well, plus you don't really have to look at them anyway lol
@ShuffleHands220 the video did not bring attention to those components once. At least explain why the og power adapter is there when you can use usb c.
I used this tutorial from MVG. He used a real gamecube though. th-cam.com/video/up6Rm1Sw1ps/w-d-xo.html&si=LcRxDSdCsLFjrFZc Timestamp: 8:45 I also didn't use traditional bulb style LEDs, instead using cut RGB strips, as bulb style LEDs wouldn't fit under the optical drive.
Its a homebrew app, honestly, its a pain in the ass to install. Its super worth it though. Its an app called FakeMote, and it installs through a custom ios. Here is a tutorial I wrote: forum.mattkc.com/viewtopic.php?t=354
Its a custom ios that allows you to connect a PS4 or PS3 controller via USB. check out my tutorial on MattKC's forum The site is currently down, here's the link anyway: forum.mattkc.com/viewtopic.php?t=354 Edit: The link is now working.
@@ShuffleHands220Could you please upload the prebuilt dios from your guide on other host too like Google Drive? Since the guide is down now it doesn't work :)
That is true, but think of it this way, you can only use a Wii power supply for the wii, right? A laptop charger could be used for basically anything, not limited to the Wii
There's a diffrence between an HDMI mod and an HDMI adapter. An adapter has to convert analog signal to a digital signal, but an hdmi mod takes the digital signal directly from the chip and provides a cleaner output. There's nothing wrong with using an adapter but there is a tangeble difference.
@ not tangible. I got wii U both my Wii and Wii U are soft modded to play all Wii and GameCube. I tested both on same TV. Wii U has native HDMI out and difference is ever so slight. Just a bit more better colors. Mayflash HDMI adapter is damn good for Wii. If you use a cheapo one then yeah difference will be massive.

It definitely is super scuffed, that probably would have ended up that way anyway.
I mean props on him not hiding the scuff lol
haha i love seeing custom mods like this hope to see more from you man
you need some gangster menacing music in the background as the cherry on top on this video
I do enjoy old school gangster rap, but why?
@@ShuffleHands220 cuz that wii is the most gangster shit ive ever seen

Awesome. Cool build
I'm on the crazy side of youtube again
I like that there a little rough edges on it. Makes me think that eventually with enough stuff ups I could get close to this.
It would be fun to make a V2, maybe with 3D printed brackets and stuff.
@@ShuffleHands220 That would be rad. Take your time and make it awesome.
From personal experience, using a dremel for cutting out the adapter ports is spectacular; it looks alot smoother. :)
I tried using a special x-acto knife that you plug in and heat up, didn't really turn out like I had hoped, but its still awesome

Looks like Microsoft made a Wii in 2001.
good job
Thank you, I appreciate it!
I need this in my life!
You can make your own with some determination.
@ShuffleHands220 i got a scuffed battery powered soldering iron and no flux or solder i got this! Just need to learn how to do it
What about the SD card slot? And why is the og power adapter still there? And gamecube memory cards?
What do you mean?
@ShuffleHands220 the video did not bring attention to those components once. At least explain why the og power adapter is there when you can use usb c.
Because if I de-soldered the original power plug, there would be a big hole in the back of the case
sickest shit ever
how did you do the led gc controller ports?
I used this tutorial from MVG. He used a real gamecube though.

I love this mod man!
Great job!

It's a some kind of hardware mod/adapter or just homebrew app?

Which HDMI mod did you use?

Why do people think USB-C is better than anything?
Because it is. It can carry different amount of power for different devices automatically. It can also carry data at high speeds, ect.
@ShuffleHands220 new info acquired today, cool Wii also, I like the HDMI thing
wow
It aint a ULTRA unless it has a Wode installed tho...
You dont need that anymore!
To this day I don’t know what the fuck a wode is or what a wode does
Wii
Optical
Drive
Emulator
Its basically ye olde Wii modchip
Laptop charger? You said that nonchalantly like laptop chargers are cheap
That is true, but think of it this way, you can only use a Wii power supply for the wii, right? A laptop charger could be used for basically anything, not limited to the Wii
yeah but a laptop charger really isn't that much and you can use it for like everything you own instead of just 1 thing like the Wii power cable
Exactly!
to add to my previous comment- I picked up a 65 watt HP USB C charger last week for 1 dollar at a thrift store
Wow! Thats absolutely wild!
Mayflash HDMI adapter does the job well. Same quality as component
