I just got ride of my 21 Tacoma cement 4x4 for an 07 SI 95k miles and 2 owners. I drive 100 miles a day and needed a daily that won't run 200 bucks a week on gas
I’m glad you said that about the stock airbox cause I’m in love w that induction noise and I’m heavily considering leaving it and doing the other bolt ons
Stock airbox is actually a cold air intake, the way it's routed sucking air from the fender. Save your $ with these 'hot air' short ram noise makers, as that's all they offer. Sound
Nice video. I am surprised how well these engines respond to bolt ons. I'm running flashpro, NST pulleys, 08 TSX throttlebody, K&N drop in filter, Berk test pipe , HFP muffler, stock intake/header/exhaust and Full Hasport 70a mounts. Per my research, I just wanted to stay as "stock" as possible and maximize my engine's performance and durability. Made 192.89 hp and 140.62 tq on a mustang dyno. My tuner was impressed. Base run was at 179.92 hp and 130.76 tq. Sucks living in Cali, can't do much of anything due to smog laws but I'm very happy with the results.
Cali driver here. Honestly 192 whp in this car is plenty for me if i can get it lol. I would be impressed as your tuner too. thats likely over 100hp per liter crank on an NA 4 banger. Open up your headers but keep your cat. Try a J35 TB like he said. Retune. You might just crack 200whp. Thats almost j30 hp on a 2.0L i4 with no forced induction lol. And you'll still pas smog probably.
Got a 06 si fbo hybrid racing intake, skunk 2 header, 3 inch exhaust "ebay" and made 220 at king motorsports in Wisconsin. I've always used skunk 2 for a header. Tried the skunk2 intake on another si and seemed about the same as the hybrid. On my 3rd si and ill probably be going the same route.
Nice video! I have an '09 Si as well just finished my tune with someone in my local area. I have the HR 3.5 CAI, 1320 Header, Full Race 3" exhaust (catless), RDX injectors and FD2R TB. I made 223whp
@@nategorsline3179 I've gotten better fuel economy and I'm not maxing out the duty cycle... it's just 310cc to 410cc. (rdx) I would not recommend for a boosted setup.
Yes, upgraded injectors usually have a better spray pattern than stock injectors which makes for better combustion and going FBO on a K20 will put the injector duty cycle in the 90-100% range. Any duty cycle past 80-85% starts to diminish the quality of combustion. So upgrading injectors is a win win. Only reason I didn’t mention injectors in the video is because you need to have the other bolt ons for the injectors to really make a noticeable difference
Another recommendation to go with the Header is to get at least a rear engine mount or you will crack your headers. I have full Hasport Mounts. The engine mounts prevents shit from breaking during hard launches. I launch my car almost everyday. I have a 07 FA5. Just have 1320 Headers, K&N Typhoon Intake w/ heatshied, 2.5" Yonaka Exhaust, 9.5lbs Flywheel, OEM spec Exedy Clutch. Pretty modest build. Just running the Hondata basemaps for race header. Idk how much whp I make but its very fast 1-3. But def not as fast as my stock Focus RS I had pre-pandemic. If I were to do it over again, I'd get the Hondata FIRST, and keep the stock airbox.
Best way to be FBO and also get fuel pump, 1000cc injectors and ported Intake manifold with 70mm throttle body from ktuned to get to 230hp or a little more if you lucky. You can tune on full E85 and make around almost 250hp so get a nitrous kit for $1000 + and get a 50 or 75 shot and be able to make 300hp
Planning to go fbo on my fa5 after I get my place. Ordering everything once it’s finalized, thinking of going Skunk2 3.5 CAI, Skunk2 alpha headers, and a full race with hondata. Haven’t thought of a throttle body yet though.
Sounds like a great setup especially with a Staticspeed Tune 👀 J35 throttle body should be enough for you, I like it because it doesn’t require a ton of extra port matching work
What's your opinion on fuel lines and fuel injectors? After all said and done in the video? Great information by the way. I currrently have an invidia q300 + hybrid racing cai. Looking to get a header next!
Fuel injectors are only necessary once you already have the other 5 mods mentioned. You can replace them sooner if you want and it won’t hurt but I wouldn’t recommended it until you have at least I/HE
What do you recommend as the quietest 3" exhaust? I wanted the Invidia Q300 because it's not very loud but I'd rather take your advice and get a 3" if I can do it without making the car obnoxiously loud. Also can you recommend any headers with a cat? I need one because of state inspection laws here. From what I've read the skunk 2 RR is really loud, Invidia N1 is really loud, Full Race or Rev9 are quieter than Skunk2, and there are also a Thermal R&D and Vibrant 3" exhausts available.
I made 222hp & 174ft on my 8th gen P2r throttle body spacer Skunk2 alpha header Skunk2 cold air intake & skunk2 mega power rr exhaust 3” They are expensive but you make good power
