8th generation is the standard by it which all civics measure themselves... Only one of them won motor trend car of the Year only one of them went North American car of the Year only one of them has an 8500 fuel cut off

The 9th gen is nice and looks pretty good, but it feels like it has no soul, the 8th gen is the most exciting NA engine I have ever driven. Whats interesting about the 9th gen is the prototype coupe had the same HDMI exhaust the 10th gen has and the 11th gen is back to bland. Honda purposely did what they did in the past to get us into turbo hence the K24 responding better with boost. Even the 10th gen tail lights resemble the 9th gen. Its interesting how Honda fixes something and comes back with it again that is much more improved.

It's hard to tell, based on your demonstration, considering your driving habits and what grade the road is at... but it sounds like the 9th gen struggles to get up to 7k RPM. The vtec is there, but it's not pushing it like it does with the 8th gen. I find it fun driving the 8th gen up hills with some bends. The LSD paired with 3rd gear at 4.5k-7.5k feels right to me. I had a 2014 Si coupe , but went back to a 2009 Si sedan , your comparison is very accurate, I loved the interior and tech on the 2014 Si including the torque and sound of the k24z7 , BUT the 8th gen Si is truly the last real Si , the seats definitely do hug you more around corners ! It does feel lighter compared to the 9th gen , the 9th gen has a lot more body roll around corners vs then 8th gen feels more planted , and there is a WORLD of modifications including interior !!!! You can swap out your steering wheel , dash , speedometer, seats , door inserts, front end / rear end with the jdm CTR FD2 parts !!! K24a2 and JDM K20A are direct swaps as well , and even though less torque, the TRUE VTEC is the whole point of the Si ! It’s an addicting sound and feeling ! As a now 14 year owner of 8th Fa5 si, I test drove the 9th in2013 and thought it felt like a dull appliance from the softer suspension tune, boring 2.4, completely numb over assisted steering feel, numb clutch, and even the throttle pedal seemed less intuitive. My but dyno would swear it was lacking hp up top compared to my 8th with just intake. I loved the looks of the 9th going into the test drive but got out extremely disappointed. 2 completely different things. I felt like I was returning to a Porche. Im sure camber castor mods may have helped restore that nimble 8th feeling to the 9th
