What mods do you know of that can be done to a 2019 Nissan Altima 2.5 S AWD? I already did a custom exhaust from Cat back but I want to redo it and go to 2.5-3 in instead of just 2in. Got the rims and tires, got the afe cold air intake, but now I want to tune my 2019 and find some cams for it and eventually custom build headers. Is there anything that YOU know of I can do to help performance?
I bought a car but don’t have much knowledge how to add horsepower safely. I don’t want to sacrifice blowing up my engine 😂 I guess I gotta just take it to the professionals

Yes. For acceleration, it's the same if you ignore wind resistance and rolling resistance. However for top speed, power will get you a much higher top speed than weight reduction will. This, of course, assumes that you are comparing added power versus weight reduction that will result in the same weight/power. For example, a 2013 Challenger SXT Plus weighs 3825 and has 305 horsepower. Instead of adding 30 horsepower, you could remove 360 pounds to get the same weight/power. I am including a 200 lb driver for this equation and rounded to the nearest pound to get 360. 4025/335 = 3665/305 = 12.0
@Joseph Salazar it’s mostly stock, i have been re-doing the interior over performance. it makes roughly 245hp and 340lb-ft… not saying to give my insta a follow but you can see the car on my page @huntrcook.gta91 on instagram if you would like!
Dunno, but I know the odds of me owning any sort of Firebird is slim to fuck all as I'm in Australia, fuck I love America for the cars and well, freedom.
The best thing about doing your own car maintenance is that you not only understand how things work BUT you realise how many thin and seemingly fragile things keep you on the road making you extremely carefull about how fast and/or agressive you wanna go into your next sharp turn or top traveling speed :D A secondary benefit is that after spending many hours with maintenance and fixing things you definetly do not want to crash anywhere as it would mean more money and even more time invested into getting it back into its previous shape and condition. And you also have no time for drugs. Or the money. Or both. So it is definetly a good thing for your kids :D
This is super helpful. I bought a rebuilt 93 Impreza a few months ago, and they're apparently known for being quite underpowered. Given the age of the car, I'm sure that HP is even lower. I'll definitely be using some of these techniques to give 'er a little more power.
They really aren't upgrade the suspension and throw some legacy brakes and rear hubs on it along with some coilovers and it will be faster than a wrx having driven both a gd and a gc with half the hp of the wrx it weighs 500lbs less and that makes more of a difference than the 100hp in every situation but a straightline. Even then wrx 15.25 lb/hp vs L (98) 21.86 lb/hp assuming stock for stock.
How'd the mods go? I just recently bought an 06' Impreza that was already dropped with coil springs and a new exhaust system and tires and compared to my 2014 Impreza it is certainly much quicker. I wanna know if you feel the same after the mods.
If a $1K cat back exhaust, $400 intake, $1K headers, probably $1K downpipe and high flow cat, $1K in tires, plus the expense of paying someone to install them if u don't have your own $10K lift, plus a $400-1500 dyno tune is all "cheap," what constitutes expensive?? Just buying a new Corvette?! 😆 I'm not broke, but I still consider $5K+ in mods expensive. And we haven't even gotten to the upgraded brakes, suspension, bracing, cams, lighter wheels, etc etc. I plan to get it all, but don't pretend any of this stuff is cheap!
I really think of it as gradually buying stuff. Buying 5k in parts instantly hurts. Buy something you want(say a new turbo) then upgrade with that. Or you can save to buy and upgrade all at once. Make a bank account that you siphon some money every check into the account. You can use that money for purely upgrades and use it. You would be suprised how little time it could take to make that money.
Also cars are not cheap. Going cheap on your upgrades will make you waste money. Buying the good stuff with warranty is the only way you could save anything. You should expect to spend a lot of money when buying parts.
Straight pipe is the absolute worst thing to do to a vehicle you rob your power and gas mileage and poor emissions some restriction is important it pulls a vacuum on exhaust valve and pull fumes out and instead of engine working hard to push it out it’s all sucked out by the vacuum and all power is focused to the wheels
@@izaaccortez9839 i have a fully custom exhaust, built by a fabricator. It is on a tuned race car. Just because you are to poor to do it right doesnt mean i am.
@@rotaryroman9548 if it’s a custom then that’s different instead of just straight piping and I wouldn’t straight pipe any of my cars don’t know what makes you think I’m poor you don’t even know who I am but think you know something about me your funny dude

And you, have a good blessed day!! 😁
I've been studying engines for more than 30 years but your right you still have to do your homework. Like some parts will hurt performance more than help. Don't forget the maker of the stock parts are designed by great engineers also.
Did the exhaust upgrade. Headers, downpipe, flex, cat, and catback. Reduced weight and gained a lil hp. Did the intake too but that's always a first mod
Ive owned my 2001 Mustang Bullitt for 17yrs and have done CAI, gears, headers and xpipe and most recently a procharger. Previous owner did forged pistons/rods, so next up is heads/cams. I also just purchased a 1974 Dodge D100 with a 360 Magnum v8 from a 2002 Durango. I plan on starting with suspension and brakes. Idea is to make it a pro touring handling pickup. Power will come later on this one.
I've got aftermarket headers, skunk2 intake/exhaust plus a carbon hood coming in soon, front and side splitters on the way, coilovers being installed this weekend, super happy about my build so far. need to replace my intake filter though, starting to get too dirty haha, my low end power is feeling lower than usual. I call my car Stinky the civic si. fun little 2010 coupe
Many turbo cars can be tuned in minutes, adding over 60 HP for a Stage 1 (APR and others) tune. Cost is low considering the amount of power gained. My VW Golf R has been tuned for 5 1/2 years with no issues.
Here's a few suggestions if anyone has anything that is powered by the series 2 or Series 3 3800 V6 from GM, although most components from the first gen and series 1 3800 are not interchangeable, the exhaust manifolds should be. And guess what the exhaust manifolds for the 1st Gen 3800 are actually headers. Just remove the heat shield and have them ceramic-coated mounted and you're good to go there or you can add turbo for MO POWA BABY!!! Also whether you use the first gen 3800 exhaust manifolds or not you can extend the length of the crossover pipe or redirect the Left Bank to the crossover and then tie it into a turbo and then exit out to the cat. Also removing excess Flash from the exhaust ports of the heads on the series 2 and Series 3 3800 is good for about five additional horsepower which would put you assuming all else stock between 200 and 210 horsepower.... Also the coil packs for the 3800 will interchange with any number of models from GM regardless of engine size. That includes the Impala SS coil packs which put out 20,000 more volts.
Getting better suspension is huge as well especially for the older cars that make little to no power, if you can’t go fast on a straightaway then at least you can take a corner going like 45 in a 25, makes you feel fast 😌
I have an 92 vette. True dual cat back straights. I put an cold air intake on, it sounds a little more agressive. I only noticed a small power gain. I plan to get long tube headers soon.
I got a 6th gen accord about 3 weeks ago and i want to do full service on it, learn about it and improve the suspension (anti sway bars, strut bar and coilovers) and tires on it, keep the motor healthy, improve intake and exhaust flow, weight reduction and manual swap it before putting in more horsepower... I prefer reliability and function over horsewpocer
I got a 6th gen accord around the same time. First car not the v6 sadly but a 2.3L 4 Cylinder. I learned manual on it I love the car I put a new head unit and speakers in it can’t wait till I start making it more powerful the car is crazy fast already that VTEC lol.
8:30 This might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard another human being utter. "None of the other stuff matters, Skill is more important". Let's be abundantly clear, skill does not increase the speed of your car, and anyone that tells you that is lying.
I always wanted a Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500. But I live in the states. So I bought a 1989 Merkur Sierra Xr4ti and I'm restoring it and building it to be faster and better handling than the RS500. There are so many different parts that will bolt right on! When I am finished I'm painting it Magenta
2:25 Cold air intake does not give you better throttle response. In some cars it will hurt the response because it change the way the air flow meter check the incoming air.
The computer already can handle some upgrades, so no logic behind what your saying considering it literally sounds like from every perspective that you have not tried this mod known as a cold air intake.
@@GMC.Sonoma.4.3 The stock air box in not restricting hp. I know how to increase hp. I have a video of me rebuilding my 96 Tahoe 5.7 and installing a cam. Do you have video of you doing anything to a car?
Here's some low-cost mods. Switch your stock-sized tires with ones that are smaller in diameter and wider in width that wil fit on your rims. The stock rubber on my 2016 Elantra are 195-65 x 15's. I switched them for a set of 205-60 x 15 'sand got more low-end power (0 to 60) because of the change in gear ratio caused by reducing the diameter of the tires. Another bonus (of sorts) is that your actual speed will be lower than what your speedometer says. This will help keep the law off your tail when the speedo says 80mph when you're actually cruising at 76mph. Swapping out your stock air filter for a K&N or AEM reusable one will improve the sound and also add a few horses. If your car has an automatic with a manual mode, you can train your engine and tranny ECU's to match your driving style by manually switching gears. For example, I have a 6-speed auto in my Elantra with shift points for 4th, 5th & 6th are 25mph, 30mph and 40mph. If I'm starting from a dead stop and want to get to the speed limit around town (usually 35-40mph) as quickly as possible, I'll keep it in 1st until I get to 40 then switch it to 6th with a few fast flicks of the gearshift. After about a dozen runs like this, the car learns the routine and will hold the shifts longer when it's back in AUTO mode - even when I've got the ECO setting turned on.
Another thing to add to this is performance suspension and lowering your car. Tight suspension actually helps with gaining speed especially on turns on highway or back roads. Lowering your car is another gain of speed. Less air flow that hits your tires which cause drag means a clean pull. Elantras arent necessarily race type but you can squeeze somw juice put fasure. One thing they are really good for is windy back roads. I can guarantee you all the boys who have a fast car have no skill taking sharp turns. I can take many of them on the back roads and the majority will end up crashing because they dont have any real control of their car with or without performance suspension. Also, f9r all elantra owners. If you want a crazy good sounding exhaust, i suggest Flowmaster Outlaw muffler. Theres 2 options. 3inch or 10inch. 3inch is best for Any elantra even sonata that has a turbo. 10inch for any of the N/A non turbo engines. straight Pipe the resonator and remove your cat if youd like. But switch to a better header instead of the cast iron one, it will leak with the next exhaust flow. Magnaflow has a good header thatll fit for like 700. Obviously get it tuned after if you can find a shop that will be willing. Not many shops in my area will tune a NA engine from hyundias lol.
I just modified exhaust in my natural aspirated Bubaru Legacy. Slow is fast now!! I also have Fiesta ST150 crazy stiff and loud as hell (the chassis, especially on bumps). The same road at 50mph feels crazy fast in Fiesta, and lazy in Legacy :D
2006 Mini Cooper S. (169 stock hp) K&N Cold Air Intake, One Ball Mod (Delete passenger side Muffler) 15% Supercharger pulley reduction (Spins SC faster compressing more air making more boost) Lowering springs and roll center compensators(lower center of gravity equals faster cornering) AND many other mods ...too many to list... THESE MODS put my car from the stock 169hp to 205hp .... rims and aluminum rear trailing arms (off an 08, straight bolt on conversion) deleting the rear seat combined reduced the vehicles weight by about 50 lbs. I CAN SAY FROM DIRECT EXPERIENCE THAT THESE MODS HAVE TRANSFORMED MY CAR PERFORMANCE TEN FOLD, 0 - 60 IN 6.1 and kick down boost that pushes you back into the seat cushioning, freeway clovers at 70..... So his suggestions are for real but beware about adding turbo and superchargers to engines not designed for them, engines with these components are designed with different compression ratios to be able to handle the increased combustion performance, putting these components on motrors not designed for them will dramatically decrease engine life and possibly blow the motor at a moment of acceleration causeing a loss of contrtol so beware........ All in All good vid but if you want speed start with a car designed for performance from the start A late model first generation Mini Cooper S (2005,2006) is a great car to start with , they require much more maintenance and premium gas but deliver an unmatched driver experience ......ask any MCS owner and youll get the same gratified response...... best driver experience ever....... street legal go cart.

That wasn’t the sound of a cold air intake, that was a turbo. Thanks for making all the 12 year olds think that a cold air intake makes a car sound like a BOV.
@IdealCars well I own a 2015 lifted Scion xB. I do plan to get a brand new exhaust system. Let’s start with header. Note: I will loose some torque. Maybe 2-4 but I’m ok and a good reason. 1: get a UEL header that I know someone made for our 2.4L 2AZ 2: o2 sensor defouler 3: 2.5” down pipe 4: magnaflow high flow cat 5: 2.5” ultra quiet vibrant resonator 6: 2.5” exhaust pipe 7: right single side 2.5” pip with quad exhaust tips shape and form like square. Like pagani zonda. Something different. It’s gonna sound shweet. Little by little
I'm thinking about building a Ford Racing Puma on my basic 1.6 model, with wide body, new rims, bigger breaks, ecu, and other stuff I'm thinking about pumping her up to around 160-170 hp and getting her 0-60 in 8 seconds, maybe nothing fancy, but for a cool daily driver from late 90's she will do 😄
Oh yeah! I got a 75' mazda 929 hardtop coupe pushing the metric tonne with 82 horsies. It feels fast but doesnt make me drive illegally and risking alot. Your car will be fun!
im sure nobody is gonna pay much attention to this comment, but im about 3 weeks from turning 16 and i own a 2009 eclipse gt6. my parents are super nervous about me having the car, but thanks to you, they at least dont need to worry as much about me overspending. @@solarclipse4g Why are your parents worried about you driving that car? It is just kinda quick lol, a civic si would pull on you and those arent fast by any means either. Only thing you can do on a car that is a NA v6 for power is catback exhaust with racing headers and maybe a tune if you can find a tuner for that car. A CAI may help you but it would barely help you by giving you maybe 5-6 hp plus its not turbod so it wouldn't care for all the extra air anyway making it a pointless mod honestly.
The most important thing that will add more HP is improving driving skills, AcceleRacers taught me that and these Racing Aliens called the Accelerons build the Racing Realms, dimensions that deal with various environments for various skills, ie:Cybergrid for sharp turns & center of gravity in literal circuits but these Aliens also have Silver neck/chin plates, Helmet, Gold piece on belly, some black leather-like padding on their heels and their clothing merged to their body which shows even though they're literally Gods and have better knowledge on driving skills, make Realms like Warped with unpredictable everchanging Tracks in some Quantum World and very wise, they still have protection on them showing they will most likely deal with crashes and not perfect even though they appear perfect.
I need your guys help. I have a 2008 Honda Fit sport. It’s a manual. I have an Invidia cat back exhaust and a cold air intake. another thing that I notice a lot is that actual cold air intakes can give like 5-10 hp even on NA cars, but many people get RAM Intakes not Cold air Intakes
One of the best chanalls i have come across. I dont know much about the cars but I think its time to start learning and get that e36 back on the street.
Yeah I do have three project cars (Sonata NF 2007, previously a V6, 3.3 NA, now is a bit over 3.9, Turbod(its custom built general bearing, but damn spools FAST), a Peugeot 405, 1993, AWD with 2.0L Fuel injection engine, which I have not decided what to do with it, I have just done the body and interior (I'm toooo obsessed with it because I love it so much), and a Quick(it's from SAIPA and basically a Kia rio hatchback with a B5 Mazda engine(the cranckshaft is different from B5 and it has 8valve, 55whp), but I have bought her a Ford B6 cylinder head, a Mazda B5 crankshaft and Mazda B6 conrods (they are 3mm shorter and reduce the static compression ratio down to 7.9 and I know shortening conrods increases its bending angel, yet I live in Iran, here things are different thanks to the $|π¡ty regime!). Also I have a very neat Supercharger of a C200, 2006 Mercedes Benz, and by using some tricksI hope to have a smooth 200 WHP dyno graph! Yet this is my first supercharger experience and I have no idea what would be the result! Finally I have turbod my V2 racebike(Hyosung GT250R) with Renault Capture turbocharger and MegaSquirt 2 standalone ECU.
i have a base rsx with a k20a3 i have a ram intake and a catback im planning on getting a good set of headers and a highflow cat aswell as swapping the head to a k20a2 and getting it dyno tuned, this is my first car and i think its going to be a fun build.
For some cars you can just drop in a k&n panel filter and delete any silencers. For my 97 4.6 2v xr7.. i deleted the air intake silencer and replaced it with exaust pipe facing cold air, and added a drop in panel filter. I got the responsiveness i was looking for for less than 60 dollars (filter/ metal tube). Then u have exhaust parts like cats and silencers. I deleted my exaust and noticed less low end and more high end. May be in my head but ik theoretically the difference is there. Either way its a free way to make your car sound mean, but not every car will like the exaust delete. Simple bolt ons or free mods like mine can gain 10-20 hp with a tune especially for a car with a conservative tune. Best case scenario you have something like an i4 turbo like an ea888. Just a cold air intake and pipes can gain you 80 torque and 50 hp with proven results, but thats an expensive car and expensive parts. around 2000$ just for the downpipe/ catback, and tune.
That’s not bad! Definitely mandatory! But as a bonus to this video I’d add 1 supercharger or turbo (or twin) 2 depending on the car new fuel injection or a 4 barrel carburetor 3 in take headlights, or hood scoop or if you are fancy a bug catcher 4 X pipe or why pipe with the Exhaust set up X pipe is better for power but a Y pipe is good for trucks, hatchbacks and SUVs more torque 5 a better cooling system just upgrade the radiator and your fans! Optional down grades Remove the AC, it always needs Freon, and is just a waist of space and money,
'piggyback' chips do work, I had a jeep CRD fitted with one and now own a Mercedes S320 with a piggyback chip made by race chip in the UK, good improvement on mpg.
Too long didnt watch: 1- Maintenance 2- Intake 3 - Exhaust 4- Dyno Tune 5 - Weight reduction 6 - Seat time 7 - Tires 8- Find parts form better cars that fit on yours(from junkyard) I dont understand how ripping a seat out gives you horsepower tho
Headers, up pipe, turbo back exhaust, actual cold air intake, injectors, fuel pump, and a turbo blanket. Throw all of that together with a tune and some good heat management and you will be at the limit of what your stock bottom end will handle. When I say heat management I don't just mean throwing some ebay wrap on your headers, though even that will help. I mean wrap every part of the exhaust system up to the muffler, that will give you the highest exhaust gas velocity possible with your setup. If you really want to see huge improvements gasket match and polish all of it. You can add a lot of horsepower without even taking apart the engine. You don't need crazy expensive parts either, a cold air intake is just a tube with a filter on it, and exhaust is just a tube that can handle the heat. So long as you take the time to make sure there is no turbulence or restrictions and the welds are good a $200 set of ebay headers will work just fine.

Yes. For acceleration, it's the same if you ignore wind resistance and rolling resistance. However for top speed, power will get you a much higher top speed than weight reduction will.
This, of course, assumes that you are comparing added power versus weight reduction that will result in the same weight/power. I am including a 200 lb driver for this equation and rounded to the nearest pound to get 360.

i just got done installing a new intake on my 91 5.7L Firebird GTA and got a notification for this video, what’re the odds

@Joseph Salazar it’s mostly stock, i have been re-doing the interior over performance. it makes roughly 245hp and 340lb-ft… not saying to give my insta a follow but you can see the car on my page @huntrcook.gta91 on instagram if you would like!
An ideal media viewer that owns a car? Impossible.
Underrated cars
Or both. So it is definetly a good thing for your kids :D
can confirm buying parts for my car is what has kept me away from weed for months now
Well said fellow Dad
We're still waiting on ideal boats and home

@@diamondjolt hahaha well said!
I got a 96 Impreza. How did the modifications go?
All that said my Yugo is worth it
I really think of it as gradually buying stuff.
Buy parts one at a time when you can afford it.. Install it yourself 🤔

Jesus was a man who performed real miracles, rose from the dead, per eyewitness accounts of many thousands of people, and truly is who he says he is 😊 - The Son of God - and it is through the perfect life he lived, doing the will of God, that he was a worthy lamb ( metaphorically ) to shed his blood in a sacrifice that would pay the debt of everyone's eternal hell, all those who choose to trust Him as their savior ( believing that his sacrifice was the real deal, and took the wrath of God (the same God that sent Jesus in the first place to be the sacrifice) and satisfied it) and Lord :> amen!! And you, have a good blessed day!! 😁
I've been studying engines for more than 30 years but your right you still have to do your homework. Like some parts will hurt performance more than help. Don't forget the maker of the stock parts are designed by great engineers also.

That includes the Impala SS coil packs which put out 20,000 more volts.
any advice for the gen 1 3800s? i have a ‘00 impala and i’m looking for power mods, depending on wether the transmission can take it

I would do this always to all cars.
The tires give better ride and are an intregal part of the suspension. Fresh sidewalls do a lot!

Do it brother. I'll be the first to do all that to a 1.3 Hybid! 7th gen Civic

2:25 Cold air intake does not give you better throttle response. In some cars it will hurt the response because it change the way the air flow meter check the incoming air.

I have a stock Pontiac 2007 I want to make it have more hp but I just don’t know where to start 😂
Ai 😨
Also, he is right about the ecu learning how you drive. But be prepared for consistent maintenance like oil changes, etc.

But as a bonus to this video I’d add
1 supercharger or turbo (or twin)
2 depending on the car new fuel injection or a 4 barrel carburetor
3 in take headlights, or hood scoop or if you are fancy a bug catcher
4 X pipe or why pipe with the Exhaust set up X pipe is better for power but a Y pipe is good for trucks, hatchbacks and SUVs more torque
5 a better cooling system just upgrade the radiator and your fans!
Optional down grades
Remove the AC, it always needs Freon, and is just a waist of space and money,
Cold air intake does add those miles of the gallon too 😍😍 and those miles will add up!
Loved how they used a flipped over car for manifolds
I didn’t know cold air intake made that sound I just thought it was my belt could hand the gas mashing so I alley it my off brand super charger
Cold air intake does not makes that sound..... Unless you have turbo then you can hear it plus the exhaust
Surely using a cone filter under the bonnet for better cold air intake won’t work as it is purely in a hot air surrounding?

A plucky little I3 from a Mitsubishi Mirage? Yeah, I fear putting any kind of forced induction on this thing. Until proven otherwise, I do think having DOHC is better for forced induction.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Man, I'm brazilian and I have an interest in cars, I have some money saved/left, do you think I should pay for an automotive mechanics course (an in-person/classroom course) or buy an old car to work with/on small deliveries? Those two options/ideas doesn't leave my mind, but I have money just for one of them 🤔
(Sorry for my bad english)
Buy an old junk car, watch some yt videos about it and rebuild the whole thing by urself. You will definitely learn more this way
