This is awesome; didn't know you could pick up a k24 long block for that cheap! I have a base rsx and I've been looking what I could swap in it once I'm financially sound, thx for the eye opener man!
That’s good information. My opinion, I feel Honda should’ve put the K24 into the Si instead of the K20 once K24 were made. Ended up doing it in 2012. Not a bad price. That $3600 was close to the price back in mid 90s doing the B16 and B18c1 swaps
I used to feel the same way. I'm actually glad both engines exist. Swaps are so easy, and most people do them when the cars are older and need maintenance anyway. I think I would prefer the K20 on a track over the K24. Would love to try both and compare.
Sick man I thought it was way more expensive! Definitely getting a k24 in after this k20z1 goes out. It’s only at 91k miles so I should be good for a while anyways. 😅
@@staticspeedtuning what about transmissions??? and more expensive k24's. still seeing this was a weight off my shoulder i daily my fa5 and drive it hard 180k miles stock k20 unopened regular maintenance just flash pro tune and intake
I Get my EP3 back this week and im ready, sadly stock 5 speed with 4.7fd but my mods list is K24a2 bottom end, Z3 head,RBC Mani,70mm TB, hybrid racing intake, 1050IDX injectors, E85, custom 3" exhaust with a PLM K swap header. Coming from a K20A3 i dont know what to expect.
Not true. Car will 100% start on your stock 8th gen si ECU. Should you beat the crap out of it and run it like that forever no eventually you should get a tune. But if you just need it for a couple months, maybe a year and you’re not gonna be beating the shit out of it like you’re fast and the furious in 100% do that reliably. Solid on go, has gone K24 and is running the stock Z3 tune look him up.
If going k24 does it matter what version if you plan on doing rods and pistons? Currently turbo and thinking of planing on k24 if the current engine ever takes a dump.
It doesn’t matter what block you use but for instance, the CRV style head doesn’t have 3 lobe VTEC. So you either have to reuse your K20 head on the K24 block or have to just get an RBB K24 that has the 3 lobe VTEC
@@staticspeedtuning was thinking k20 head from z3. Difference in price between a k24a2 and k24a4 is about double and thinking if I replace piston/rods could I get away with the cheaper short block.
230WHP/190LBFT on Virtual Dyno so about 225-235 roughly. I will be putting the car on the dyno within the next couple months just to see what she makes but it feels much much faster now
I’m sure It’s possible but not sure what other stuff needs to be done to make it work. On the 8th Gens it’s pretty much plug and play it’s lowkey just a big block K20Z3 🔥
Z3’s go for about $1600+ and are much harder to find with low miles. Plus the K24 is much more enjoyable anyways I would never put another K20 in this car.
@@staticspeedtuning actually the z3 is way more expensive idk if you’ve been looking at cracked or blown z3’s but here in California they go for 3,000 and up as where the k24s go for 1,000-2,000 here in Cali
What did you mean by your first comment then? You said for all that I could’ve gotten a Z3? I only ended up paying about $1750 out the door for the motor and labor for the K24.

You’re welcome brother! K24A is definitely the best bang for buck and most of them are really low mileage so you can’t go wrong
Can never go wrong with the k24. Torque is insane
Agreed the car feels way better overall

Oh yeah of course this car should’ve came with a K24 all day but still felt good with the K20. Nothing like that K24 torque tho
@@staticspeedtuning yes sir. Had a 15 Si w k24. Lots of torque unfortunately deer 🦌 had other plans. Totaled. Nice Si 🤜🏾🤛🏾💯
Damn sorry to hear that man, I wanna supercharge mine in the future

These videos are so good man, so much useful information for me. Thank you!
I really appreciate it! You’re very welcome Im gonna keep giving you guys that great content
Great video my question is can I still use stock motor mounts I hate the vibration I get with the hasport lower mount ?
Sick man I thought it was way more expensive! Definitely getting a k24 in after this k20z1 goes out. It’s only at 91k miles so I should be good for a while anyways. 😅
Yeah bro I wouldn’t swap it before 150K unless anything major happens but yeah man super affordable
RIGHT!
I didn’t know that swap was that feasible
If you keep up with regular maintenance you won't be swapping out that K20 anytime soon

Oh man it’s gonna be awesome I’m excited for you bro. Let me know if you need a tune so I can get it running right
K20 head k24 block is the way with a type s oil pump I’ve done it and its well worth the gains.
Were you able to retain Air conditioning? hoping to do a K24/K20 swap in an 8th gen Si
Fire vid bro 🔥k24 on top🤙🏽💯
Yessir!!!
What clutch and flywheel you running
Wat year is the crv
Good video.
Thank you!
What caused timing chain to slip on the k20?
I don't think the car runs with stock ECU and K24 long block. I was told you need a Hondata Flashpro that adds another $1,000.

Sounds like a good move to me man
Its trash without the k20 head and oil pump
It’s boosted now. Definitely not trash lol
@@staticspeedtuning nice
Hondabond works?
Just got my 8th gen was told it was tuned by you 244hp k24
Yessir that was Trent’s car. Very healthy motor good buy! Let me know if you add any mods and need a retune
What year model crv was the mount from? Thanks
03-05 I believe
What degree bend do you use on your intake piping?
You can either measure it and experiment or just buy it from my website www.staticspeedtm.com
Does Aaron Gorman do K24/20 builds as well?
He hasn’t done one before but are you local to Tampa FL?
@@staticspeedtuning No, im near Pensacola...Northwest Florida.
I have an 8th gen si. Im at almost 200k so a swap is what I'm looking into. I have money so... my ears are open
Are you tuned or running on the stock ecu?
I tuned it myself with Hondata Flashpro. If you run the stock K20 tune with the K24 it will lean out like crazy. Hit me up for tunes if you need one
How much mpg do u get?
Right now about 19-21mpg on E85
@@staticspeedtuning dam thats it... is there anyway u can maintain mpg??
What cv axel u use
Stock CV axles work fine. Currently one side is an insane shaft and the other is an oreilly axle since one of the insane shafts blew already
How much hp u pushing

Would this swap pass smog ?
Not sure depending on your state. If you run a cat with this setup then I would say you might be okay
So no ac in the car?
there is ac
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Is this swap possible in a 9th gen if needed? Good content.

They definitely are cheaper I would check out the 9th Gen forum
🔥🔥🔥👍👍👌👌
Will I be able to use the stock front engine/trans mount?
Yes but I recommend upgrading to either boomba or hasport mounts to eliminate wheel hop

I love the high rpms in which the 24 doesn’t have afterall high rpms is what Honda intended to be for
