Creality Ender 3 Fix - Aluminum Extruder

The Creality Ender 3 is a great utility printer but if you print a lot you are going to need to replace your stock Bowden extruder or you are going to have issues. I have 8 Ender 3's, all pretty close in age, I have upgraded several with Aluminum Bowden Extruders. Those I have not, are starting to have issues with extrusion as seen in the video. Save yourself some frustration and swap it out early.

Coincidentally, I have had battles with the same issue in over the last few months. I don't print 24/7... but when I have projects that I want finished I will. I am very hesitant to do drastic upgrades. I have owned the same aluminum extruder for about 6 months, waiting for the eventuality of having to use it. The actual cause is the stupid filament delivery system. Top delivery on a side delivery machine... duh! Last week I DIY'd a proper spool holder (wood dowel, 608 bearings, and salvaged failed prints, hardware). LOL ill have thing stitched up with bailing wire if I have too!! Thx for the vid... you have inspired me, I might go ahead and do the fix at next color change. 🤘

I like to keep my enders stock when possible.. This looks like a time whe. I have to deviate. It has definitely helped. I have some bearings around so I will give that a shot.. There are a few prints on thingiverse.com that just need a bearing for a complete solution for a filament guide.

Would a direct drive mod prevent this issue? I'm considering investing what with all the issues from retraction errors, the awkward feed angle and such. It seems like a direct drive on the gantry would prevent some wear and tear.

they also have silver and black. that red one looks like shit unless you have other red stuff on your printer.
