I realize why I love this knife so much! The design of it reminds me of something a cave man would have chiseled out of volcanic rock, or something a native American might have made. It is raw, ancient like but made with modern tools and steel! A work of art..
the other guys explain the knife very well.. But there is something about hearing if from the horses mouth that transcends into better understanding. Though process is better explained by you. It is more then just purpose. How features should be. For example the bow drill divot, the smaller divot with in is mind blowing because no one has ever implemented something that becomes foolishly obvious that it is incredible that no has done it before! Patent that NOW! (if you can) After you explained it i was wondering why it has not been the standard.. after seeing how the drill wares the block, your design seemed exceptionally stable. well done! I am beginning to see your handles are way more than just a handles too. i am starting to get it. J

Received mine (#167)6 months ago and put it to the test all summer. All I can say is wow! I've chopped, batoned, pounded tent stakes and all kinds of chores, I really worked the hell out this tool! I keep finding new uses for it....I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if (God for bid something were to happen to it)

I haven't field dressed an animal with mine yet, but I've done an extensive amount of woodcraft and kitchen work with it and it performs admirably. With all the angles and edges it reminds me of a large flint blade that wont break on you.. the size is perfect IMO. I find myself grabbing it by the blade for a lot of tasks and there is just no bad way to hold or use it. It's both advanced and primitive, intuitive and instinctual. Just love mine. Thanks to William and all who contributed to the creation of this awesome tool... WC knives user for life right here and proud owner of #86. Ramble over LOL

You are a knife wizard indeed William! It is hard to appreciate what this knife is capable of until you actually hold it and work with it. During the time I spent testing it I found that it became more and more natural as I used it and the longer I used it the more I began to respect the design because it does excel at so many different types of tasks. The initial impression someone may get when seeing this knife is likely to be deceiving because it is so different from any other knife and until you spend time actually using it, I don't think you can fully appreciate the ingenuity of the design. I truly saw through my time with the knife that every aspect of the design was with intent. Not one area or curve of this knife is without purpose. I think the magic that ties it altogether is the classic WC 3 position handle which is the most comfortable and probably scientifically ergonomic design available for a knife. You can hardly put the knife in a position in your hand that doesn't feel natural or comfortable. I believe this knife will be around for a long time to come and will have a loyal following that will only continue to grow over time. Keep up the fabulous work sir!

Wow! Thanks for the explanations🙂 I’m going to try and get an AEB-L with my taxes now. I’m definitely not a “one tool option” kind of guy but this seems to be about as close as you can get. Definitely want one for emergencies or a go bag💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Thanks for putting this video together, I have read all the information on your website and I have checked out a lot of the videos as well. This is another great video and the effort involved in making this video is appreciated. My wife and I make hand made goods as well, so the uniqueness of hand made and each one being unique is also familiar with products we make, but something that makes me more interested in your knife as well. Unique.

Out less than a year now and serial numbers is around 170 so very pleased with the roll out and sales. This knife has not really been introduced to the major public yet so very pleased.

That’s the most beautiful and functionally perfect knife I’ve ever seen. This is the one time that I sure wish I wasn’t sooo poor. I live meager off the land out in the Ohio hills and I recently broke my bush knife. How much do they go for?

I can tell that you put a lot of time and effort into designing & executing your knives. Appx. how many hours are in one of your knives?
Just fabrication 10-12 man hours. Not counting the R& D of design and heat treat process.
I use it for pancake flipping haha waiting on my sheath to do the review.

If MSK1 designer could explain blade design as well as WC he may not have received so much flak for design and price of his knife. Specifically WC is concise and succinct with demonstrating knife qualities and backs it up without excuses. I tried the MSK1 and it’s really a nice knife, however I don’t think it will compare well to WC DESIGN. Perhaps someone will compare. Dr. David

NomSayn at 18:39 I start talking about the two different steels. O1is a carbon steel that will rust and the other AEB-L is a stainless that will not. AEB-L holds a sharper edge about 30% longer than O1 and takes about the same amount of strokes as O1 to resharpen. There is a complete playlist on my home page on AEB-L as stated in the video.

forgive me if i step on any toes. or speak out of ignorance. i ask simply because i do not know. but just going on the few videos ive seen and a bit of word of mouth, have you given any thought or have you maybe been approached by big knife companies to mass produce this knife? im sure theres going to be imitators, because this is literally a all in one knife. a doi it all knife. im highly impressed. and very seriously considering procuring one.

Just nitpick. A real tanto tip is actually 2 straight edges. It's a pain to sharpen. WCSK is one continuous edge. I find a small diamond plate works fine. But I use Sypderco rods to hand sharpen. Follow the angle all the way.
And ya, William forgotten to mention 'individual serial number'.
There is a note in the video about individual serial numbers😁 appreciate the view and info.
Why did you settle on the 8 small pins instead of the typical 3 large pins?
You Tube a center pin was in the way of the bow drill socket and 4 large pins didn’t look good to me.
What’s the current Serial Number up to on the WCSK?? -Stephen, Ohio
next serial number is 0168B.
How about a budget priced production run in good old American 1095?
Eurotrash4367 this pricing is as budget as it will get. O1 and 1095 is about the same cost. I prefer 01 to edge retention and durability.

Eurotrash4367 good steel has a decent edge. Cons is it will patina and rust, also more difficult to sharpen than other carbon steels. Proper heat treated ARB-L will out perform it on every level.

If I can only have one...this is it...I would want it a tad larger...
mark burress tried larger, not as efficient and the balance is off. The size chops as well as a longer blade but handles like a smaller bushcraft blade as stated in the video. You have to use it to see the true versatility of the knife. I also wanted to keep the knife at a reasonable size so it would not be uncomfortable to wear on your belt. The larger knives tend to be left in the truck or at home.
@@wcknives well you're the designer...you know what you're doing quite obviously. I have CP and a knife 7 inches just a bit blade heavy iis easier for medium processing. I've carried and used larrge heavier khukuris and knives like the Cold Steel SRK and Trailmaster made in Carbon V since 1987, still have those old knives too Walked on my arms all my life. . As far as efficency goes Bill, anybody who really uses knives and has a brain cell one AND is being honest can see how good it would be. Just say in its obvious. People who make regular khukuri this size usually make em too thick, and of course don't usually have the advantages that known quantity steels and modern HT and cryo treatment allow for knives this small, or if they do they make a folder etc not a fixed blade.
@@tikkidaddy The morden kukhri made by Nepalese are too thick. Most videos are like " bad @$$ chopper". The Real traditional khuk are 4mm to 6mm. And can be use in kitchen. HT by pouring water is all right for thinner blades. But with thicker blades, you need oil quench. I read some complaint that the stock edge is good, but once it's sharpen down, the inner core metal is soft.
Through testing and as shown in this video the difference is the chopping sweet spot or point vs a straight or even curved edge. Geometry plays a huge roll in the function of this knife. As everyone who uses this knife can attest to this knife is not your average knife design. It will continue to surprise you at not only the larger knife task like chopping but the finer task of wood carving and camp craft.
@@1968gadgetyo yes...better examples are made by Tota Blades, not as thick. HIMIMP can provide both thicker and thinner models. Even Cold Steels Ghurkha Khukuri while not exactly traditional in every aspect is far closer than the ones offered by other companies. The WCSK sould easily provide what I'm looking for in a small belt knife.
