    Hi William - Interesting design. Looking at the videos this morning I can say it looks hardy and versital. I am looking forward to seeing some of the other reviewer's comments.
    RE: Combat Use - I think it would perform most combat taskes, however, I don't think I would want to use it in hand to hand combat. Why? Well, the blade is just too wide. It will not easily pierce body armor or bone - the blade is just too wide. For covert operations in Viet Nam we prefered something sliner like a Gerber Mark II or Sikes-Farbain Dager used in WWI. They also had 7" blades deep piercing. The other most popular blade was the Wester W49 Bowie - a good choper and good hand fighting knife. It could chop bamboo, arms, legs, heads, etc. - all very well. The K-Bar combat knife was ok but it rusted so quickly in all that jungle rain it was hard to get it to keep an edge.
    In Iraq my son was sometimes in hand to hand combat. He used the K-Bar (no moister to rust it) or the Gerber Mark II.
    It would be interesting to have a Martial Arts guy check out the ballance for close quarter hand to hand use.
    As for other Combat chores I have feeling it would do just fine. I bet you could easily pierce a oil drum with it or cut your way out of a downed chopper.
    I know it is hard to get one knife that will do everything, but based on your videos I think you have come close this time.
    I would like to see more Whittle Talks in the future. My grandkids really like them.
    later..........

    • @wcknives
      @wcknives  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Levi Caddell Justin Wolf has a review of it in this play list. The Gurka’s may disagree with you on blade width and combat. Also some spec ops that have handled this knife. As with all designs nothing is for everyone.

    • @levicaddell6861
      @levicaddell6861 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it depends on the situation you are in. In general in Nam I prefered the Western W49 which had a wide blade and was a good chopper. However, for stabbing we prefered something narrow so a lot of guys carried two knives. (Combat stealth operations to take out the enemy required special skills.) The Sikes-Fairbane was hard to get so the most used the Gerber Mark II or Mark I. However, for general taskes those three knives were pretty much useless. They were designed for one thing - taking someone out in a stealth operation.
      This knife does seem to bet a better all around knife.

    • @wcknives
      @wcknives  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Levi Caddell yep, situation and use does play a role.

    • @1968gadgetyo
      @1968gadgetyo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Levi Caddell
      How about urban survival? No choil or guard means it's not a stabbing weapon. Unless I speak with an Aussie accent and call myself Crocodile Dundee.

    • @levicaddell6861
      @levicaddell6861 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not really a fighting knife. Can it be used for self defense - Sure... BUT it is a "survival" knife - meaning it does a lot of stuff well..... I bet you can break a car window with it, cut thru the car door of roof with it, etc. It looks tough enough to use for a pry bar to get a door or window open. You could puncture a steel drum with it, etc. And the list goes on... In a urban situation this would be a great knife. If you look at the handle it is kind of a coke bottle shape. If you hole it right you and easily stab with it. The blade is a little thick (wide) for that as it would catch on bone, etc. but other wise it looks like a great knife for woods, desert or city. I sure wished I could afford one to put it to the test myself. :-)

    Well I ordered my WCSK today,and a couple of shirts (band aid shirt)and I went to stitched gear and got their sheath,but my god the deluxe sheath cost more than the knife. So I got the basic one,looking forward to getting my WCSK. Thanks

    • @wcknives
      @wcknives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The_kid it is a 1/8” full flat so it is pretty thin now. Another 1/6” will not help with slicing enough to decrease the blade strength. Not a good trade off IMO.

Also what does Randy charge for those sheaths as I have already paid him for the master woodsman sheath?
