    I was pretty sure of the functionality of the knife before getting it in my hands by watching the 60 odd videos that showcase it. Now I’ve received mine it is clear that the functionality of this knife cannot be questioned. A lot of forethought had to go into its development, not to mention a bucket full of trial steel. You may not have redesigned the wheel , but you definitely redefined the standard that a “survival” knife should aim for. I feel you tempered our expectations as knife enthusiasts and redefined how blade geometry can and should work for us on multiple levels. Thanks for a great blade. Owner 0195B.

    Sir, I am a long time Tracker/WSK user, specifically Dave Beck’s. I am really liking the looks and size of you design. You have really achieved something of your own. Having used your Firebug pretty extensively I’m thoroughly impressed with the heat treat of your O1 steel. Don’t pay attention to the naysayers, I can tell just looking here that you have something special. Very cool.

    After having seen different videos where people try out this knife and everybody I have seen have come to the same conclusion, that the design works. If is skinning an animal, carving and food prep. I think you have developed another very good working knife.

    Just ordered your Master Woodsman but this WCSK looks like a contender. Will 3V WCSK be more robust if it were your one tool lets say if you were on Vancouver Island or is O1 good enough. I worry about rusting if you can't treat the blade. I look forward to the Master Woodsman and I think it should do the require duties I encounter in the woods.

    • @wcknives
      @wcknives  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      George Hicks this is my comparison of O1 to 3v. As you mentioned rust would be an issue so I would consider a stainless over 3v. It would be a custom build. Unit pricing and wait times is in my Custom Order web page. Appreciate your MW purchase. th-cam.com/video/NHUoMIbLmeg/w-d-xo.html

    I quite like the look of the blade, it has a caveman stone tool kind of thing going for it. That can be done in a gimmicky way for fun and aestheics, but I saw a lot of function inherent in your design. To be honest though, I didn't think it would be quite so handy for food prep. But the slicing draw cut on the apple was surprisingly effective. Peeling was no worries in the confines of the low angle recurve section, I thought dimensions of that area was going to be a bit restrictive, but with the curve of the vegetable it works fine. Not the best tool for the job, but certainly a respectable pass for a heavy duty all rounder that does a bunch of other jobs well too.

    Hi William, I love your knife and the Collaboration you did With folks like Blackie and Tanno. That Blackie's a real knife historian, he should be on the History Channel. I've made the tracker 20+ years ago. I've made skinnin knives, Samurai Swords. The last one was a Kukri ish Machete with a gut hook because I slipped with the angle grinder. Urgg. So I've been designing a buttoning knife. Originally it was going to be a Large Bowie with channel grooves cut perpendicular for less friction and a swell toward the tip for wacking on. I've changed my design and I'm now using your template: Spear point, long angled saber grind, curved scandi grind in the bottom near the hilt. The top will have a 3 divots. The first has gimping for your thumb, next divit or curve is 90 deg. the third is a gut hook. I don't know why I'm stuck on gut hook, lol. The Material is 1/4" O1 tool steel, Its gonna be HUGE ! I lived in Texas 40 yrs. maybe that why. Oh I Cryo with a bottle of CO2 turned upside down. lol I thought you might get a kick out of that. Good luck, hope you sell a bunch.

    It certainly keeps passing each test through the demonstrated tasks ..... can't argue with the results. It is strangely getting better looking with each video that i watch.. Kudos for releasing these vids alongside your co-reviewers ...... So much more informative than a flashy high end commercial promo which can be very enticing but often misrepresents the reality of what you end up getting.
    Has anyone come up with a good nick-name for the knife yet? The ' WCSK' hardly encompasses the character of such an individual working tool. I didn't immediately fall for it at first sight but it's definitely growing on me ...... my BK7 is starting to look worried.

    Fox Knives of Italy has a few designs very similar to this and they perform extremely well. The fact that this one is O1 and not N690CO (which is a good steel for knives as well) sets it apart. Part khukuri, part tanto and all function.

    Hello Sir , I have one question; I have small to medium hands for a guy with short fingers. I really inteintend purchase one of the survival knives. Which one do you suggest, the full size one or the smaller one ? I love the design of both.

    • @wcknives
      @wcknives  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watch Blackie's videos in the playlist. He is small in stature but tall in his craft. The handle was designed for the large knife to fit many different hand sizes. If you intend to use the knife for survival task then you need the larger knife the smaller knife is a companion neck knife and should be accompanied with a larger belt knife or a axe.

    Someone actually questioned the motivation of a knife maker/seller in creating a knife? Uhhhh, that would be to ultimately sell the knife (based on it's abilities OF COURSE!)!! Wow there are some really stupid people out there.

    Say Heah William, I hear you, You do good, But I don't need to be a Chef in the Bush, Oh, I eats good, but apples are my teeth's job, potatoes I use a smaller thin knife, never a complaint yet, But God forbid, I'm on a scout in a new area, and I get lost. My Paulie's Delight will bring me home again, Yeah,, I'm in a wooded area, and wood is my shelter, fire, life saver, If I were a Chef, I prolly would bring one of them there expensive Chef's Knives, But if I'm in one of them there Survival Situations, Thank God.you made me my Paulie's Delight. It split's, chops and a good cutter because of that there dual grind you put on it, it's heavy, but that's another reason I don't have to bring a Hatchet into the Bush. After all, it's my Straight Kukuri. I bet even Blackie would like it. Thanx You William, Oh. I do like that there three point tip idea.,,.p

    Good luck with your new prototype. I can't but think that it looks similar to the MSK-1 from Ultimate Survival Tips. See here: th-cam.com/video/eF9VN363V4I/w-d-xo.html
    I am curious about the sources of inspiration for your design.

      The only thing I see close is both spines have a flat spot. MSK has a 4" drop point blade with a finger choil and mine has a 5.5" serpentine blade with a graduating saber grind and a tanto tip. The MSK has a hollow grind. Two completely different knives. although after several 1,000 years of bending and shaping steel all knives will remind us of another knife. My inspiration was getting in the field and trying different designs for the past 40 years and finding what works then applying that experience into a blade. if you watch the R&D videos you will see the progression as through trial and error I adjust the design.
