- This is the first days decoying that i have managed to get this year and it is great to be out with the air rifle after some wood pigeons.
All though i did get some birds i did miss more than i should have on this day, still a few lessons to be learned yet. - กีฬา
You missed...You missed !!!
We all miss, I'm just glad to see you actually are willing to show a few misses.
You shoot very well, like your vids..keep em comming.
The challenge is what makes it sporting....for you and the game. Your videos never cease to uplift and enlighten your followers, thanks again for the great work!Best of luck to you!
How you are not on TV amazes me! Always excellent commentary mixed in with the odd bit of humour - and always with respect for your quarry. Cracking stuff.
enjoyed all the videos looked am Brazilian and my name is Alan and I are always checking your videos

Thank you glad that you have enjoyed the videos so far.
I love the voice over giving your excuse for missing, everyone needs an excuse when things go wrong.
Great vid.
Im learning lots every video I watch of yours , tried decoying today worked a charm. Thanks again for your vids
Well done on the Maggies and credit due to you for showing the misses as well as the hits. Makes us all feel better. lol
Brilliant video yet again, keep up the hard work best vids on TH-cam for air rifle hunting
this is pure magic dave, fantastic.
Yet another fantastic video, i was laughing at that giant bee on the lense, just like a B movie (no pun intended). Keep them coming ive learnt lots just by watching your videos. Thanks mate.
Was out decoying the other day & after a while stood to stretch, a sparrow hawk landing on the top pole of the hide about 8" from my head, I dont know who jumped more but it was a fine experience, nice video, Thanks.
Love these videos, i started watching these videos and these videos are what inspired me to get an Air Arms S200 so thank you :)
@HuntersVermin I always like your vids their great. Always happy when it says you just uploaded..
Great vid again mate, nice to see some one
else missing aswel.
All the best....
Those magpies won't be killing any more nestlings and taken eggs from other birds nests next spring...Well done fella...Top drawer!!
Yeah we all miss at times but glad you enjoyed it.
a great days sport there mate .
some great shot placement there and not to worry about the missed ones we can't get them all .
I have probably seen over a hundred videos of people shooting at winged and non-winged vermin, but I have never even held an air rifle in my hands, though I'm a pretty crack shot with a pistol (USA 9mm, .38, .357 calibers). I have seen many of your videos and was surprised to see as many misses as hits. Partially because of watching you, I intend to go to an air rifle range this week and see what I can do. When I go, I will keep in mind that even an experienced shooter like you misses their target once in a while.
@leftymadrid Thank you very much for that. I usually zero my .22cal BSA super 10 for about 32 yards. I started when i was 14 or so with a HW80 spring air rifle, it took me a long time to learn what i know now and i am still learning every time i go out.
@HuntersVermin It is still doing well too David so it just goes to show how popular these videos are buddy. Bloody good seeing you at the Game Fair and your young lady I hope to see you both again next year.

Fantastic vid again, keep up the good work.
I want to hunt pigeons for food.. is it okay to go for heart and lung shots? Or will the breast be damaged in such a way it will be less tasty??
@TamrynRimfire Thanks Tam, glad you liked the vid.
Another awsome video pal, i hate wood pigeons so this vid is one of my favourites :D
Great info as usual well done and keep them Coming.
Awesome Film as usual. Glad you got a few magpies weldone m8
Thumb'd and Faved
Tam
Great Video.Very Honest.Thanks For Posting.Greetings From Tassie, Australia :)
Quality, as usual, keep 'em coming m8
Great videos mate, keep doing them ..Liverpool UK
@mcavlan65 Thank you, glad you liked the vid.
Nice shooting HV :) you got more than i had with the shotgun on my last outing!
Another cracking video as always. I'm learning from them too, sniped my 1st wood pigeon off my shed roof the other day, butchered it and ate the breast meat too :)
@eohinyorks Thanks glad you liked it.
@747p38 Thank you very much for that nice comment.
Yes that is a problem i have had in the past too. I try and camouflage my hide with as much weeds as i can to help it blend in with the hedge. You also need good full bodied decoys and spread them out so there is plenty of room for birds to land without realizing that they are plastic. I have had to use dead birds as decoys in the past in ares heavily decoyed by shotguners as they would not land near plastic decoys. Set up near a tree as the birds will often land there instead of the ground.
Great video as usual mate
@tulleh No i rarely ever see any feral pigeons out here but you have to watch out for the odd racing bird. The young woodies don't have any white marks on their necks but you will still see the white bars on their wings when they land.
Nice shooting.Good luck in next hunt and for better weather.
@FIELDROX You have a point but i was using my BSA super 10 with about 15ft/lb so prefer head shots as it gives less meat damage plus the stocks in a stubble field can be too long to see the heart.
@barrysteenmans Thank you. Not sure if it is availably in the UK as i have never even seen one never mind got a chance to try one.
Just keep at it as it took us all a while to get into it.
@CountryPursuitsTV Thanks Ghostmaker, we might try the the CLA next year as the wife is hoping to see some cooking shows there.
@Ghostmaker1970 Thanks Ghostmaker i see what you mean about the rateings, didn't realise the video would be so popular maybe i should miss more often.
The pigeons seem to be feeding later on in the day over here this year. Good shooting there anyway. Looking forward to the rabbits this winter!

@MrChedderBoy Because some times the stubble is too long to see the birds heart and lung area so i have learnt to look for a head shot instead.
@frankieperry Thanks. I sat till the camera battery ran out about 4-5 hours.
@delharrier Glad you liked it.
@bushcraftybaz Thanks, glad you liked the vid, but please don't swear in your comments.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Not only "the challenge of using a rifle", but head shots too! Birds, especially pigeons are constantly bobbing their heads about. Heart shots are better, I think, even if you destroy a bit more meat.
@x8MexInTex8x Glad you liked the vid.
@tazlmc Yes that is an idea i have been wanting to do when i get the time. Thanks.
@rjreid1958 The biggest difference is that the rock dove is a protected bird in the UK were as the wood pigeon can be shot all year round. Its similar to stock dove but paler and with pronounced white upper rump and two black bars on wings. Flight is very fast. Usually occurs in small flocks on the western coasts of Scotland. From the BASC website.
Nice vid again!!
Also lotsa humor in :)
@motormadmarc Thank you very much for the nice comment.
@lilvfr400boy Glad you liked the video.
@srspower Your welcome and happy hunting.
awesome video ..... i went out myself not 2 days ago but the mag pies would either jump about too much or scatter off even when they wernt near or looking at me i shoot a hatsan mod 60's what gun do you use ?
@gopherbar Glad you liked them.
nice presentation , enjoyed it as always = )
@mrbinx8909 The wood pigeons i eat but the magpies i only use as decoys for other hunts as they are not the cleanest of birds.
And thank you for watching.
@thegashman1 Thank you very much, I wonder who would be my TV co presenter.
@DSB651 I was using my BSA super 10.
nice vid pal always nice to have a challenge :)
Great shooting!!
@LCStreetPhotographer That was a good on the pigeons with your air rifle.
Nice shooting and good commentary :)
@mccoobs Yeah i am going to have to find time for that, been quite busy as last while.
@MrCraftyJoker I had three or four flies buzzing around the camera lens for some reason that day.
@tnball24 There are lots and lots on the market some manufactures are offering deals with rifle scope mounts etc all you need to get started like the Crossman Benjamin NP Trail.
You have a point as they are dirty birds but what do you do with them, I hate to chuck quarry away.
Mine usually end up in the hedge but i do keep a few to use as decoys on other hunts, but if you know someone with ferrets they might take them.
@310dnb I eat the wood pigeons and tuck the magpies into a thick hedge out of the way or use them as decoys another day as i wont eat them.
@marollet i always find they pause after feeding before taking off.try that
@srspower There's no doubt that a shot gunner would of have more birds in the bag than me that day but i love the challenge of the air gun.
Yeah I will, just that im still new in the air rifle hunting business :P so I feel safer for heart shots but indeed better if manage to make good headshots.
@countrysporting Yes very much so and if i don't keep practicing i will go back to shooting badly again. The people who are good shoots are the ones who have spent a lot of time practicing not only to get good but to stay a good shot.
nice video
can you tell more about your rifle , the barrel look quiet short
thank
what air rifle was used
@Tranceshuffle1 I use a BSA super 10 mk2 in .22cal but BSA have stopped making this model.
Yes one of the benefits of building a hide into the hedge.
One of the cheapest full powered air rifles for hunting i know of is the AGS Value Max from Webley.
@airgun1981 Ahh the barrel is about 16-17 inches long but i had some camo on it which made it look a lot shorter in the picture. Its a BSA super 10 mk2 in .22cal with about 14ft/lb of energy, but BSa don't make this model any nore and replaced it with the R10. I have a short film on my channel on my two air rifles, My Air Rifle 2010.
@taidgh15 Yes i think i have read a review on it, but Brocock is a farly small firm compaired to BSA or Airarms so not too many people know of it.
Thanks for watching.
hey great vid are you gonna do any hunting vids any time soon cos they are great also just out of curiosity have you ever heard of the amazing brilliant awesome brocock enigma ps i dont work for brocock but i own the enigma and nobody seems to know what it is
Thank you.
Without going mad with money the HW95k would make a good choice for a spring gun, and an Airarms s410 for a pcp powered airgun. But there are a load of others on the market.
@HuntersVermin are you going to make other crow/magpie hunting videos during this winter? great videos :D
@HuntersVermin Great Video, and how long did u spend in the hide?
I use a 6 inch piece of wire or stick to prop their heads.
do you put anything down to encourage the pigeons? i used to put bread down in my garden,in front of a backstop.worked a treat
@chamboslogun Yes it is possible, it was making me sit in an uncomfortable shooting position. But we all learn from our misstakes.
@we66y357 Thank you, and good luck with your days shooting.
How do you get the dead birds to prop up when you use them as decoys?
I'm looking for a new airgun, got any suggestions? It can't be too expensive, but I still want power and accuracy. Any guns you could tell that are cheap?
quite new to air rifle shooting and have permission on 200 acres of land, ive been trying to shoot wood pigeons over decoys with my 12ft lb air rifle and not getting on too well, the pigeons dont seem to like staying down for any longer than about three seconds wich isn't long enough to get a shot off, im fully camo'd up with only my eyes showing and behind a camo hide net, any clue as to what im doing wrong?
@mgfdh Thank you, i'm working on it.
what rifle would you recommend me buying? i want to spend around £100 - £150 (including scope) i would want to use this rifle for small game/vermin
