This is what was written on my receipt when a shop fixed the clunking issue on my car: “Customer states noise was coming from front end while driving parking lot speeds and turning. result: Preload on front coilovers were incorrect, and front end links adjusted way too long causing contact with lower control arms when turning.” They even showed me where it was making contact on LCA. Look for markings to see if any contacts being made, hope this helps!
I appreciate the honesty man! Love your content, was thinking to change from factory struts and tops with RCE springs. Not sure if you picked out a lowering but I’m in love with the RCE’s, lowers about an inch and feel oem plus.
Sorry to hear that happen but those $1000 or so coilovers are a cheap option. Better go with the springs or spend some more money. My buddy has RaceComp engineering coilovers on his VB and they are perfect. They have same top hats as factory with still adjustable camber set up with a helper spring and they feel amazing. The car looks great drives perfect but they are $2300 so you get what you pay for. Spend more money if you’re able to afford it for top shelf coilovers and will work without any issues. Good luck
@@robbann8160 they are inexpensive, sure. Chances are even if I spent more money on coilovers, a more expensive pair would just be coming off now. I had no problems with the Pedders coilovers. They ride really good, just noisy. The noise is why they are coming off. The ride quality was good. I don’t want any coilover that has a solid top for my next set. That leads me to the Ohlins. As for the race comp, I’d have to call them, but it doesn’t look like they have rubber in their strut tops.
@@waybach shop has checked endlinks everytime and they come back that they can’t tighten them anymore and they aren’t loose. My other thought was the endlinks Pedders gave me might still be to long and I could be bottoming out endlinks on A arms, however, I don’t see any signs of A arms being impacted. Not scratches, gouges or any type of mark.

Also need to make sure the pillowball tops are lubed and kept that way
@ and if you’re going to run it stiff you’ll need to lube under the dust boot & bushings to prevent further squeaking

@@Ian22VB that’s actually what I’m doing. Race comp and stock struts. They have the best spring rate
@ you will enjoy it man! Roads in NJ on average are garbage and this option for me makes more sense.

@@Subi_doo ohlins dont have oem strut mounts... not sure what picture you are looking at. They are solid alloy.
I know there are decent coils out there for the VB. Maybe someone who has some will chime in.
@@chrischarles9218 ohlins is the only one that gives you a rubber top mount. But they are $2500 lol
aw man that blows… I’m pretty sure it’s the endlinks..

@ what about markings on the LCA? mine were indeed too long and was hitting the lower control arms which caused the clunking.
